Totally get that. I’m a week out in theory and on edge already. There maybe no tears left by next week. I’m not sure why they need to let you know so last minute. Are you able to call your maternity unit and ask what the plan is?

I can imagine your eagerly waiting tomorrow’s scan as well! You will have to let me know how that goes if you feel comfortable doing so being as though it’s been very similar for us both!
I may give them a call actually, hopefully I’d get some answers

SnakebitesandSambucas · 22/04/2025 14:33

My C-section I got a date and time in a letter at the consultation. Not sure about induction

The plan for an induction was quite sudden as he had jumped up in growth since the previous scan so it was a phone call telling me they want to induce me tomorrow, doctor was so very vague 😂🥲

BrightGoose · 22/04/2025 15:12

Our inductions you ring the ward the day before and they tell you to come in or not.

anything can get delayed depending on beds and emergency’s that’s what they said about my section too, working in the nhs I completely understand however frustrating it is

Ah okay I don’t know whether to call up then? Or is it best to wait for the morning as some people in my area have been called the day of, and I don’t want to bother the staff if not needed

BrightGoose · 22/04/2025 16:00

I’m sure the staff won’t mind given that it was such late notice. Maybe just say what time do I have to come in and is there anything I need to do before I come in ?

Did they not tell you any information at all? If you have no information I would call appointments/antenatal reception and ask what the process is because it'll probably vary by hospitals. When I was induced I was instructed to call at 8am the day of and would then be told a time to come in. But that doesn't help you unless you're giving birth in South London 🤣

TheBeesKnee · 22/04/2025 16:41

Also today has been a bit of a mess for me. I missed my 38 week appointment (first appointment I've ever missed across 2 pregnancies!!), it just totally slipped my mind. They've rescheduled for Saturday which is not ideal because I will have no childcare so have to hope my toddler behaves.

I didn't get any work done. I didn't even do any nesting like I'd planned. I also fell asleep and forgot to put dinner in the oven. I'm still just lying in bed now, too tired to care or do much.

LeBonBon · 22/04/2025 21:22

@TheBeesKnee we all have those days! Today was my first proper day off work with DD at nursery, planned to do all sorts but only got round to one job of clearing out all DD's old clothes and consider that a miracle! Some days it just doesn't happen and that's OK.

When I took DD to the midwife a few weeks ago she would not sit still 😬 Insisted on "checking" my bump herself and came away with a pair of blue rubber gloves...

I haven't taken her in since haha, although the midwife asked me where she was so at least someone was entertained!

Thinking of you today @LozC0411 ❤️ hope you hear what the plan is soon! Not knowing must be the worst! X

Hey! Have they taken you in yet? I’ve been booked for induction tomorrow now. Scan was extreme. I don’t know whether I’m in such is shock from such a sudden plan to induce me or whether it’s something to do with them doing a sweep today has caused a weird reaction for my baby. I feel like I'm barely even making any sense!

BrightGoose · 23/04/2025 15:14

Oh no @Poster57 what happened ? Maybe treat yourself to a nice bath and relax for a little while give yourself time to process it

My original induction date was the 28th (which I was unaware of till today) and they hadn’t brought it forward last week despite how adamant they were on not letting me go past this week. Iv been passed around to different people today and to find out I now have to wait 5 more days is not only worrying me due to his size but also upsetting as id prepared for today☹️ im really not happy with the way this has been handled if im honest.

However thats great that they are moving so fast, youll get to meet your bundle of joy soon!🥰 Did his growth jump up then hence the urgency?
Hope you’re ok! X

@BrightGoose thank you. I’m not even sure how you made sense of my last message as basic English hasn’t come easily to me this afternoon 🙈 I’ve calmed slightly but I’ve got a lot I’ve got to achieve tonight. I’ve got two littles & have spent most of this pregnancy navigating a melanoma diagnosis (it’s not spread system wide but I spent a long time worth the doctors thinking that it had) so I’m very unorganised.

the risks I’ve had explained to me due to size are not a conversation for the faint hearted. It’s a lot.

@LozC0411 that’s unbelievable. I wouldn’t be happy with that either. I can’t believe they’ve put that pressure on you and not followed through with it. Yes baby has jumped size again at this side. It’s so stressful isn’t it

Don’t stress yourself out too much, I know how scary the risks are which is why I’m glad they are moving quickly for you… I’m sorry today has been so stressful just remember what comes at the end of it!!

yeah I’m really upset with how I’ve been treated and I’m half tempted to see if I can push for it to be moved forward as I am also terrified of his size compared to my bmi which is on the much lower side🥲

Darkambergingerlily · 23/04/2025 18:01

Just joining in very last minute here. 36 weeks with dc3 and a sahm with a 4 yo not at school and a 20 month old.

i am TIRED and fed up hahaha. I don’t know whether wishing the baby to be here is better or worse for exhaustion levels?!?

microwoods · 23/04/2025 18:02

@LozC0411sorry to hear that! That’s awful. The amount of mental preparation that must have gone into being induced today, let alone practical stuff like laundry, getting food in etc for them to just move it is unacceptable! I know this is your first pregnancy but other women might have had to make childcare arrangements etc too.

I know we can’t always prepare for birth but if you’re booked in for an induction or section then they really should try to stick to those dates or at least communicate any changes properly!

@Poster57it sounds stressful! I hope it all goes well for you tomorrow x

I’m calming a lot now. It’s definitely for the best it’s just such a thought & im already exhausted as it is. My consultant is going to see me in the morning as well before I go in for a chat so I think that should help. Managed to go from calm and collected to absolutely exploding today 😂 hopefully I’ve got that out my system and I guess there’s a small chance the sweep I got today could work 🤞🤞

@LozC0411 I really think you’re totally within your rights to try and push for it sooner. I know I’m moaning about my situation but being messed around like that just isn’t ok and is far worse, it’s really thoughtless of them and understandably concerning for you.

LeBonBon · 23/04/2025 20:23

38 weeks today! I've been feeling very nauseous all afternoon. Not sure if it's something I ate or a sign of something else? Anyone experienced this? Like something stuck in my throat but I haven't actually eaten anything since lunchtime.

Never went into labour with DD so not really sure what I'm looking for!

microwoods · 23/04/2025 20:49

@LeBonBondid you have sickness early on in your pregnancy? My sickness has made a return in the last week or so. Not as bad as it was, but I’m frequently nauseous. Baby’s big uncomfortable movements also make me feel quite queasy!

LeBonBon · 23/04/2025 20:54

@microwoods Oh no! I did, yeah - quite badly, multiple times a day. Not sure I'm keen on that returning! I did think it was just baby getting bigger and squeezing my internal organs causing it, but I've read it could be an early sign.

Beccaa123 · 24/04/2025 04:33

@LeBonBon my nausea made a reappearance a couple of weeks ago, mostly at night.

My stomach went solid again last night and I think I had cramps along with it. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Braxton hicks or contraction as it lasted for around 15 minutes.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 24/04/2025 10:53

Hey all I woke up today feeling really rough. Tummy hurts more Braxton hicks. The sickness and nausea ramped up 🤧. Plus I'm really cold. And a bad headache. Not sure what's going on!!!

BrightGoose · 24/04/2025 11:04

With your headache I would check your BP If you can it’s so miserable being poorly when pregnant. Hope you feel better soon

my sickness hasn’t returned but food aversions have

SnakebitesandSambucas · 24/04/2025 15:44

Been having really bad Braxton hicks on and off for hours now. Lots of back pain. Wondering if I should go to mau
