About 30 mins after I wrote that comment I lost my mucus plug (it was also bloody). I rang triage but they said I don’t need to go in. I guess it could either be hours or days still.

How long did it take for anyone who has experienced it to go into active labour after losing your mucus plug? I live an hour from the hospital and still want a c section so trying to avoid getting caught out too late 😅

I lost my plug around 11am and went into labour 11pm, waters broke 2am.

@BrightGoose I've got cellular blankets for the pram and moses basket and for the crib next to the bed. These sleeping bags apparently can be used from 0 to 4 months.
A family friend said cellular blankets whilst they're small and don't move much, then once they start moving go onto sleeping bags. I'm just thinking in a sleeping bag I won't be worrying about they shuffling down. It's all a minefield with what kind of temperature it's going to be next month etc.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 21/04/2025 18:59

@BrightGoose are the 2.5 tog suitable for all seasons, that's what I've read on the NHS website, I've seen 0.5 tog as well.

microwoods · 21/04/2025 19:15

I’ll use a cellular blanket in hospital and possibly for the first few nights, then we’ll move onto the Love to Dream swaddle suits. My DD absolutely loved them! Once baby is near rolling, we’ll move onto the sleeping bags.

@Rainbowsunshine812.5 tog aren’t (generally) suitable for all seasons, I’m attaching a photo I took of the screen for my NHS antenatal class with DD that really helped (it might take a while to be approved I’m not sure how quickly photos upload anymore)

If you have a thermometer in the room (or a baby monitor that tells you the temp) it just takes the thinking out of what baby needs to be wearing for bed! X

Yeah bear in mind if your room is one that has the sun on it throughout the day. My house now doesn’t get the sun on my room directly at any point in the day. But my previous house when I had my two other babies had the sun on the bedroom all afternoon and it was so hot around 23-25 degrees everyday through June to September so most of the time they were just in a vest and baby grow or .5 tog sleeping bag once they were bigger (I think it’s 10bls ish you can use them from). we use cellular blankets also at first.

defo recommend a gro egg or similar room thermometer. I think for me it’s one of the biggest stresses for spring summer babies and all mine are may and June babies.

defo do not recommend 2.5 tog for all seasons your room just will be too warm in the summer months but will be good for most other seasons.

BrightGoose · 21/04/2025 19:54

Also sleeping bags can be used from 10bls ish to over three years old mine where in them until they were 2 years old when they had a quilt you just have to keep buying different sizes and togs to suit the seasons

SnakebitesandSambucas · 21/04/2025 20:02

I just measured my bump it's 46inches! ❤️😳 Only 34 weeks!! A good resource is the lullaby trust, NHS safe sleep. A gro egg is a good rough guide. Also windows are they draughty? Some babies do run hot. I found they kicked off the blankets but all babies are different. I keep seeing the chicken swaddles the babies look adorable and so 🤣

Rainbowsunshine81 · 21/04/2025 20:14

@microwoods we have one of those gro egg room thermometer which we used last time and came in really handy to keep an eye on how warm it was in our bedroom.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 21/04/2025 20:16

@BrightGoose would a 0.5 tog one be ok? We don't always get the sun directly on our house in the summer, tends to move around.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 21/04/2025 20:17

@SnakebitesandSambucas I've never seen the chicken swaddles 😀

BrightGoose · 21/04/2025 20:51

@Rainbowsunshine81 yes you can always put a long sleeved vest on if it’s cool in your room. Maybe be worth tracking the temp of your room even from now just to see where it sits in time for baby. I know mine even when it was warm the last week still didn’t go above 18/19 degrees which is the ideal temp for a babies room.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 21/04/2025 21:11

@BrightGoose that's a really good idea, was thinking about putting the thermometer that we used last time in our room. I've read the ideal temperature is 16 - 20 Celsius.

microwoods · 21/04/2025 22:03

@Dojo13 thinking of you! Hope everything is going well x

Toothfairy0113 · 21/04/2025 23:38

I'm a sweaty mess most nights at the moment and end up sleeping without the quilt on me because i'm just so hot!

I used sleeping bags from the get go with my other 2 (11 and 9 now 😭) and plan to do the same with this one too. We've got a couple of 2.5 togs and going to get a couple of 1 togs too.

Also had a gro egg for the other 2 too and loved it so much we've just got another for this one (it came yesterday!)

Don't know of anyone else has done this but if you have amazon and make a baby wishlist you can get 15% off alot of the things you add to the list as long as you buy it by going through the list. We've stocked up pn a load of wipes with this and it's worked out quite well for a few other things too

@Dojo13 hope you're ok. I didn't lose my mucus plug with my first until after I had a sweep with my first. I lost it a 32 weeks with my second and ended up spending 2 days in hospital with threatened pre-term labour with her but she actually decided to stay put until her due date after all the drama 🙄🤣

Dojo13 · 22/04/2025 04:31

@microwoods @Toothfairy0113 No baby yet! Not even any contractions. I’ve got my pre op appointment today so looking like we might make it to Thursday after all 🤞🏻 either way he’ll be here in 2 days! Eeeek

AutumnalPuffin · 22/04/2025 05:14

Good luck @Dojo13 ! It’s all very exciting!

Im still in the hospital as my daughter is treated for jaundice probably as a result of being both pre-term and us having the rhesus positive / negative relationship. She’s been under a phototherapy lamp since yesterday lunchtime which has been difficult as it’s coincided with my milk coming through and her wanting to cluster feed but I’m keeping everything crossed for being discharged home tomorrow!

Beccaa123 · 22/04/2025 08:24

My stomach got really tight this morning, maybe for 5 minutes, I was lying down when it started & it eventually went away after I had been standing for a couple of minutes.
Is this normal?

BrightGoose · 22/04/2025 08:59

@Beccaa123 sounds a lot like braxton hicks hun it goes really tight and then relaxes again but it’s not painful although mine are uncomfortable

@AutumnalPuffin hope the light therapy works well for her and you can go home soon better to stay alittle longer then have to go back in x

Beccaa123 · 22/04/2025 09:02

@BrightGoose that's what I initially thought, but I wasn't sure how long they would last for & I assumed I would be in some sort of pain lol

Rainbowsunshine81 · 22/04/2025 09:46

@Beccaa123 mine feels like that, like quite hard and tight.
@AutumnalPuffin Hope you get to come home soon. X

LozC0411 · 22/04/2025 10:37

Ladies who have previously had inductions… Do you get called in on the day or do you receive a phone call the day before or something? I’m meant to go in for mine tomorrow but haven’t heard anything since Thursday…

Poster57 · 22/04/2025 13:16

@LozC0411 in my trust you phone the ward the night before after 430 and they give you a time. I’m not sure whether or not that’s the same everywhere through

Totally get that. I’m a week out in theory and on edge already. There maybe no tears left by next week. I’m not sure why they need to let you know so last minute. Are you able to call your maternity unit and ask what the plan is?

SnakebitesandSambucas · 22/04/2025 14:33

My C-section I got a date and time in a letter at the consultation. Not sure about induction
