I'm finding walking a struggle (36 weeks tomorrow). Baby was head down at the last scan which I think has made the difference, but honestly I can't go down the road without feeling like he's just going to drop out at any minute 😳 Is that normal? I didn't have it with my first and I don't finish work until Easter so I really hope I have a little bit of a break until he comes!

microwoods · 08/04/2025 19:36

I’m on the floor a lot with my toddler and have to push myself up in order to get up 😂 and getting up in the night for a wee is a nightmare too.

I have been feeling like he was really low down but at my appointment yesterday they said he’s still 4/5ths palpable so his head is only just below the pelvic brim. Saying that, DD was only 3/5ths palpable when I went to hospital in labour! I’m 35 weeks on Friday and just cannot envision getting past 38 weeks at this point.

BrightGoose · 08/04/2025 19:56

Baby has probably descended into your pelvis engaged some what and that’s why they have dropped mine last girl did it about 35 weeks.. this little one is defo not engaged yet but I’m only 33 weeks

TheBeesKnee · 08/04/2025 22:30

I had my 36 week scan yesterday (getting extras for GDM) and the baby is 6lbs 11 already 🫠

I had one last week at 35+2 and he was estimated 7lb1oz so I’m in the same boat😂🙈

Poster57 · 08/04/2025 22:48

Growth scan today for me too. 36+1 and currently estimated at 7Lb 15oz 🙈🙈 to be redone in 2 weeks with potential guidance to be induced at that point if growth is still in line with current estimates. Eek - very much not organised for potentially not making it to May!

SnakebitesandSambucas · 08/04/2025 22:51

I'm just starting my hospital bag. Packing 2 lots of clothes for baby girls and boys 😄

BrightGoose · 09/04/2025 18:20

I had my midwife appointment today. She’s not sure exactly what position baby is in which I can understand my bump was a very odd shape this morning. Measurements have dropped off slightly but still inline with my gestation, had bloods done to check my levels and HB as it was borderline last time. All good really, won’t been seen again for three weeks due to appointment availability due to Easter but she is happy for me to be squeezed in if I need to be seen in two weeks.

WildWhirlwind · 09/04/2025 18:53

Hi @BrightGoose. Do you know what the next steps are if they can't work out the position?

Hoping our baby is head down - I can feel hiccups down there, but with my hand it feels like their head is just above my navel!

BrightGoose · 09/04/2025 19:22

She didn’t say just that she will check next time but I’m only 33 weeks so plenty of time to move. Although I’m still not sure how I will deliver I am scheduled a c section at 39 weeks but I want a trial of labour so they are referring me back to me consultant to discuss it obviously if she is breach I have no choice and that will be that.

I can also feel hiccups low down but at the same time I have a big lump at the top of my bump and a big lump and the bottom and she couldn’t work out which was head and which was bottom

Had a bit of a scare last night. I started with back pains coming and going, 5 minutes apart. They were regular from the beginning but didn’t ramp up in terms of intensity, although after two hours they were more like 3 minutes apart! Phoned triage who advised to take two paracetamol and have a hot shower as apparently it can stop it in its tracks (and it worked!).

Makes me wonder why they tell us to have paracetamol and a bath when we actually go into labour 😂 the bath is the only place where my contractions slowed down when I was in labour with DD.

The only other time I’ve experienced something like that was when I was in labour with DD so after a couple of hours I did start to think it could actually be happening. I felt pretty much all my labour pain in my back last time (DD wasn’t even back to back) and now I’m worried that I’m in for that again. Back is still sore today but it’s a consistent pain. Just need baby to stay put for at least another 2 weeks.

How is everyone else? X

BrightGoose · 12/04/2025 09:36

That sounds intense maybe get checked if your still in pain today might be a uti or something else. I remember them saying to me with my first that they only recommend water after 4cm but then told me to go in when I was 1cm but being induced so I I don’t really understand the rules 😂

I laboured in my thighs and lower bump the first time and then the second time I only knew I was contracting because I constantly had thigh pain and it was the same feeling, it’s also where I get my period pains and where I’ve had some more frequent pains in the last few weeks. I think people just have similar labour pains with each labour maybe

Went to the maternity assessment unit yesterday morning as there was a streak of blood on the tissue paper, was put on the monitor and baby boy seemed to start having a party. Was also examined and they couldn't see any sign of bleeding, but did notice some white discharge which the doctor said could be pregnancy related or thrush, so they took a swab and said they'd let me know if it was.
I don't know if I've irritated downstairs with tissue paper as there still seems to be little amounts of blood on the panty liner,so going to use moist tissue paper see if that helps.
I'm definitely going to pack my hospital bag this weekend.
Some friends of mine have organised a baby shower for me today so that will be nice and we have our maternity photoshoot tomorrow.

microwoods · 12/04/2025 11:19

@BrightGoosei had a midwife appointment on Monday and all the checks were fine but I could have picked up a UTI in the meantime, it doesn’t feel like that kind of pain though. I’ll keep an eye on it ❤️

The ‘rules’ are so strange aren’t they 😂 I went in with DD when I was having 3 contractions in 10 minutes lasting over a minute each, but I was only 1-2cm dilated despite struggling with intense contractions! They offered me induction (as my waters had gone) or to go home but I declined both and they found me a room to see what happened. Unfortunately they refused me gas and air. Two hours later I was 10cm and pushing!

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/04/2025 11:23

I'm feeling a little better today keep getting terrible nightmares though. Having a massage this afternoon! Was just reading a threads about taking a kid out with chicken pox to a group event 😯. Makes me terrified to go outdoors. The OCD really ramps up!

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/04/2025 11:25

@Rainbowsunshine81 I had great fun on my maternity shoot. Got the standard bump shots. Then mixed it up with some spikes stilletos and kimono style flowing sheer dress 😁. Haven't had a look at the photos yet though.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 12/04/2025 16:28

@SnakebitesandSambucas I've seen those lovely style flowing dresses, they're so pretty 😍

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/04/2025 18:18

This is it. But imagine a baby bump. And a short person with heels 👠 😜

@SnakebitesandSambucas that's fabulous! 🤩

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/04/2025 21:42

Looking forward to seeing the photos but also scared to see them. Tempting fate anxiety is a terrible affliction. Definitely getting more Braxton hicks ATM especially at night!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 12/04/2025 21:48

@SnakebitesandSambucas I bet they'll be gorgeous 🥰 do know what you mean ❤️
I seem to be having a lot of pressure tonight really low low down, feel like I need to go for a wee constantly 😁

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/04/2025 22:10

@Rainbowsunshine81 I swear my bladder is nocturnal!!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 12/04/2025 22:14

@SnakebitesandSambucas I think mine is the same! Got a mind of it's own!!

Beccaa123 · 13/04/2025 06:29

I know I've asked about hiccups before, but she seems to be getting them 2/3 times a day. Is there a point where hiccups are considered a concern rather than normal?

My DD used to get hiccups several times a day when I was pregnant with her, and I was advised it was absolutely fine (though I find the sensation unpleasant!). She also got them a lot in the first few weeks after she was born. I’m sure all is fine ❤️
