Hi hope everyone is ok

I’m just lying here husband at the gym and my two older children are playing nicely together (sometimes miracles do happen), I am about to make American style pancakes thinking how life is going to be so different in 6 weeks time! Very exciting and scary too.. we put our nursery changing set up and started getting the nursery a little more ready we have no plans to use that room only to store clothes and change baby. How is everyone coming along with baby stuff, hospital bags and names? It all seems very close now

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 08:53

@BrightGoose We need to buy a changing table for downstairs. Still have a wardrobe and changing table from us first son, my mum has bought us a new cot as the other one got a bit damaged. We've set up the moses basket, haven't set up the bedside crib yet. Like to refresh the ones in the spare bedroom, will be the nursery again. Got bits all together for my hospital bag, few more things to get for that, haven't packed that yet or the baby bag, am thinking of doing that soon. Going to get the pram and car seat cleaned. Four weeks on Wednesday is my c section.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 06/04/2025 10:03

Got my C-section date! Some serious nesting going on. Starting to wash all my lovely cloth nappies 😁. Stuck on names as I don't know the sex of the baby. Girls names are so much easier than boys.

BodeAkuna · 06/04/2025 11:16

I feel the same! Less than 6 weeks ago and I cannot wait to meet my son. Very little nesting happening as I’m so knackered- hoping for some energy when I go on maternity leave

BodeAkuna · 06/04/2025 11:18

We have a name and most of the things we need as we have older children. Name is all sorted. I’m enjoying this lovely sun and getting my belly out in the garden for some direct vitamin D
getting the car cleaned is a brilliant idea

TheBeesKnee · 06/04/2025 13:34

I have the clothes and nappies sorted thanks to a gust of energy when I was 28? weeks pregnant.

Still to do:

  • Empty and move my bedside tall boy
  • put up N2M
  • find the small sheets 🫣
  • buy new changing mat to go on to of chest of drawers (have a pack of inco pads for downstairs changes)
  • clear all the crap off the top of the chest of drawers
  • clean car (DP's job) and install infant carrier at the back so that toddler gets used to it
  • adapt Bugaboo pram seat to a carry cot

We are having a surprise and can't pick a name. I don't love anything this time around but we have a shortlist taped up on the kitchen wall and we add/cross names off it periodically. Have 6 boys names, 3 girls, 1 unisex. 6 names have been crossed out so far!

CS scheduled for 1st May so only 4 weeks to go for me 😱 and I'll be working 3 of those! Thank goodness for working from home is all I can say.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 06/04/2025 15:31

@TheBeesKnee I'm having a suprise as well. Boys names are so much harder than girls. Plus I already have one of each. I'm also thinking should I rule out names starting their first letters 😆. Been horizontal for so long due to sickness think my brain 🧠 is going going gone 🫣

SnakebitesandSambucas · 06/04/2025 15:33

@BodeAkuna when I do have tiny spurts of energy I do a lot. Then have to recover for hours. Lucky I was in-between training and cpd and time of for surgeries so I wasn't working. Enjoy your leave!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 16:59

@BodeAkuna Such another lovely day isn't it? Nice to have some sunshine 🌞

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 17:00

We have his name picked out and his middle name 🥰

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 17:02

Does anyone feel like it's going so quickly all of a sudden. I feel like it has since I got my date for my c section.

BrightGoose · 06/04/2025 17:52

I think it’s seems to all have gone really quick but I think these next few weeks will drag, i need to get beyond the first week of may so I get my DC birthday out the way and then I think I can go fully into setting everything up. Most of my stuff is new cuz I didn’t save anything so it’s just unboxing and then washing everything which I will start doing soon as long as the weather stays nice.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 19:33

Hopefully the nice weather continues!
Has anyone done any antenatal classes? I'm thinking of booking onto one, but don't know if I've left it too late.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 06/04/2025 19:39

@Rainbowsunshine81 I haven't as this is my third and I'm not keen on the NCT vibe. But your midwife should have some links. Or they're might be online in your area. Ours are advertised on Eventbrite 😳

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 19:45

@SnakebitesandSambucas I don't recall doing any last time, I did go to a relaxation class.
I'm not keen on the NCT one as you have to pay 🤨 I've seen the bump, birth and beyond where you have to go through Eventbrite, it feels like I'm booking tickets for a concert 🙁 I've seen some that are on in the children's centre, so I'll try tomorrow about booking onto one. I'd also like to book onto a breastfeeding workshop one too.

I didn't do NCT last time because I didn't want to pay loads of money and then end up attending a bunch on my own anyway as DP works shifts and couldn't commit to attending them.

However my hospital held a couple of online classes which we did attend over zoom and found them helpful. One was infant feeding and the other was a general baby care/birth class which DP found very helpful.

I watched loads of videos online too, breathing exercises for labour (hello EMCS) and used to follow this brilliant midwife on tiktok (theEcoMidwife Angie, just tried to find the video but can't since I deleted the clock app) who had loads of useful videos but the one that's started with me comes with a bit of a content warning: she basically said it was really common to get angry and want to shake your baby at some point in the night because you're so sleep deprived and your fight or flight response keeps getting triggered with constant wakings and your body thinks you're under attack. I was shocked at that video and obviously thought it would never happen to me — until it did, several weeks in of broken sleep. And having that knowledge helped me to leave the room, wake DP and tell him I was at the end of my tether and needed to tap out, essentially. I think if I hadn't seen her video, I'd have ended up spiralling with those feelings and thinking I was an unfit mother etc etc.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 21:44

@TheBeesKnee I've seen some online videos, don't fancy spending money on the NCT ones either.
My health Visitor was talking to me about how it's ok once you know the baby is fed, changed, burped etc it's ok to put them down, even when they do cry, that way you aren't becoming overwhelmed and it's ok to take time out for yourself for a few minutes or like you say get hubby/partner.

I’ve just done the NCT classes but wouldn’t recommend. I don’t know what I expected but most of it was about labour (and I’m planning an elective section). I was hoping to learn more about caring for baby afterwards but they only really touched on that for one of the classes. There was also a breastfeeding class but I didn’t feel like I learnt anything new that I haven’t already seen online.

There are other classes available from other companies that a couple of my friends have done but they weren’t available near me which is why I went for NCT.

Is it normal at this stage to start getting a sore stomach?
I'm assuming it's pressure from the baby as she's getting bigger?

BrightGoose · 07/04/2025 10:48

I have like a heavy sore feeling at the top of my bump like a pulling pain.. feels like it’s too heavy but it’s only mind.. if it gets worse I would get checked out if it’s too painful/sore

I haven't had any soreness at the top, mine has been at the bottom of my bump

I've been getting some pain at the bottom too, I just put it down to round ligment pain 🤷‍♀️ I've also had a spot top right hand side under my ribs that also feels almost bruised but i'd just but it down to the fact baby's breech so the hard head's constantly pressing the same bit.

Went for my 34 week midwife appointment today and she's referred me for a growth scan.. I've been measuring a week ahead both times she's measured me previously but today I was measuring a week behind so booked in for tomorrow morning. She also said they can check presentation at that point to to confirm baby is breech. I'm not concerned to be honest but just feel very unready now so husband's said it's fine, we'll go get whatever I feel we absolutely need as necessity this afternoon ❤️

microwoods · 07/04/2025 13:20

@Toothfairy0113was everything else ok at your appointment? I was looking at the symptoms of preeclampsia the other day and pain under the ribs is one of them, but I’d have thought if you were at risk of it you would also be having high BP readings and protein in your urine x

Everything was fine thankfully - BP was spot on and nothing showing in my urine ❤️

Toothfairy0113 · 07/04/2025 16:14

Anyone finding baby getting hiccups more recently?? My eldest used to get them all the time later on, i've even got a video of her a few hours old in the hospital with them for the first time after being born 😂
