Hi they said they had missed this and it should of been picked up given my clinical history, it isn’t something that is routine but in my case I should have had it, she’s going to run it past the consultant to see if there’s anything they need to do but she doesn’t think so.

schedule my section for 39 weeks and did say I could try for a VBAC even though I’ve had two sections if I really wanted to if I went into labour before that

Zeeha · 11/03/2025 17:28

Hi all. Hope everyone is ok. This pregnancy is so full of ups and downs. Yesterday I had a growth scan and an internal scan at 31+3 to check on placenta previa. My placenta has finally moved from being on the cervix three weeks ago to 45mm away, yay! However now baby has a tailing off of growth 😢 The doppler readings were good, so I'm hoping it's down to a difference in sonographer and the measurements will bounce back. Scans on the 24th and 31st to monitor 🤞

That’s good about your placenta and baby still looks like their nearly tracking the 50th centile still if I can see the graph correctly so hopefully like you said it’s just the difference is measuring. On your scan did they plot each of the measurements and give you the report. I always find that better as you can see where all the different body parts are tracking

Jess2826 · 12/03/2025 17:50

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and just wondering at what point to start doing some of the things that are supposed to help with labour (raspberry leaf tea, eating dates, pumping, collecting collostrum etc). Or if anyone has any suggestions for things that will help. I know for most of those things it will be too early at 30 weeks but I need something to focus on doing/researching over the next 10 weeks or so 😆

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/03/2025 18:54

Hi all 29 weeks today! Been practically bed bound for last 3 days due to HG and dizziness! I did try colostrum harvesting with my other 2 but it wasn't worth the effort lol. But I did end up easily BF both of them. Good news on placenta moving and they are keeping eye. I have the scans as I had excess fluid with both of mine but they came out 7.6lbs 39 weeks and 38weeks 7.9lbs.
We really have to be on the ball for all the medical stuff so easy for things to get overlooked!

@Jess2826 @Zeeha @BrightGoose

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/03/2025 18:55

Apologies if I've missed anyone!

microwoods · 12/03/2025 19:53

@Jess2826 in my last pregnancy was advised not to start colostrum harvesting until 37 weeks and not to use a pump as it can induce labour! I tried hand expressing for two nights and got basically no where (now I understand I was positioning my hand too close to the nipple) but I ended up having DD at 37+4 and she took to breastfeeding quickly.

I never did the raspberry leaf tea or date eating!

TheBeesKnee · 12/03/2025 22:29

This baby has gone from cephalic to transverse and my god I feel like I'm going to explode. My skin feels so tight and taught and I am so uncomfortable, I don't know what to do with myself!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 12/03/2025 22:50

Saw my midwife yesterday and she couldn't determine position of the baby, the last two times she has. She measured my bump. Last two times she has put cephalic position and then on a private scan they said the feet were facing down. I'm going for a growth scan tomorrow so will ask then.

Poster57 · 13/03/2025 08:12

I’d highly recommend colostrum harvesting. I didn’t with my first but thankfully did with my second… I was rushed to surgery as soon as she was born so she relied on it for a few hours. I was so glad we had it with us & hope to have a supply of it again this time. I’ve been told 36 weeks before collecting although I feel like I could now quite happily

LeBonBon · 13/03/2025 10:17

Yes I did colostrum harvesting with my 1st from 36 weeks and managed to gather quite a bit. I was so glad I did - baby was born small via csection at 38 weeks exactly and it took almost four days for my milk to properly come in, so the colostrum was a god send and we used it all. I successfully breastfed until 21 months (and getting pregnant with this one!)

Dojo13 · 13/03/2025 20:31

@LeBonBon @Poster57 might be a silly question but do you pack the colostrum in a cool bag out of the freezer when going to hospital? Do they then put it back in the freezer or fridge for you?

LeBonBon · 13/03/2025 20:34

@Dojo13 not silly at all. I packed all my syringes in a freezer food bag with my name, NHS number and DOB written on the front. The midwifes took it off me when I arrived on the Sunday. I didn't have baby until the Wednesday but they gave me them back once we got to the postnatal ward.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 13/03/2025 20:37

@Dojo13 strict protocol followed for breast milk, colostrum. Labels stickers and correct temperature. 😁. My joy at being on the ward and seeing all those liquid gold syringes! Couldn't do it myself though 😸. Boobs just went nah give me the baby.

Poster57 · 13/03/2025 21:03

@Dojo13 yip agree with what @LeBonBon says. Strictly labeled and put in the freezer by midwives. It was also days later before mine were needed but accessed with no issues whatsoever. I was still feeding my eldest when DC2 was born and I only stopped feeding DC2 12 weeks into this pregnancy so all went well and the colostrum was there when I couldn’t be ☺️

What I would say is (and I know it completely goes against medical advice) is that I did use my hand pump to get the colostrum (with the knowledge of my care team) I wouldn’t have dreamt of going near my electric but I did use the hand pump purely because despite having breastfed for the best part of 5 years; I can’t hand express for toffee 🙈😂

Jess2826 · 17/03/2025 21:16

Hope everyone is doing well!

I just thought as we are getting closer maybe it would be nice to see all our due dates together. I'm thinking just copy and paste and add your date and name followed by a heart pink/blue/yellow? For girl/boy/surprise. 🩷🩵💛
