28w1d and for the last 2 weeks I've had awful leg cramps at the very top of my leg when I'm lying on my side in bed, only my left leg though!

SnakebitesandSambucas · 11/02/2025 18:51

Well finally collapsed back into bed. Waking up and down the hill to get to parents evenings!! My HG has ramped up again 🤢. @Beccaa123 ooh glad you got that UTI sorted they can turn nasty quickly. Lots of round ligament pains today. Feel like my second trimester 2 weeks bloom feel is ending and back to being a zombie!!

Dullblue1234 · 11/02/2025 19:11

I recommend magnesium lotion for cramps/restless legs!

TheBeesKnee · 13/02/2025 14:40

28 weeks now and feeling veeery pregnant and tired.

Have a CS date booked for 1st May (DD was 06/05) so it's all starting to feel a bit real. Panicking about the state of my room and the stuff I still need to sort out though.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 13/02/2025 17:59

@TheBeesKnee don't worry neither have I!

SnakebitesandSambucas · 13/02/2025 18:00

@Dullblue1234 yes I've heard of that working. Might try it for my own children as they have leg cramps sometimes.

BodeAkuna · 14/02/2025 11:10

How is everyone feeling today?

I got terrible leg cramps last time, but so far only had 5 and they resolved after a short period of agony. Trying to do as much exercise as I can (walking) to prevent them getting like last time

I'm so ready for pregnancy to be over! Tired and feel huge already

Jess2826 · 15/02/2025 13:54

Has anyone else experienced this.. I've got a pain, like a bruised feeling, in my bottom left rib on the side. I woke up with it about 2 weeks ago and have just put it down to growing. I struggled last night to sleep on my left because it's felt more uncomfortable than before. I have my 26 week midwife appointment on Monday so will be mentioning it then but just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced it. I feel well in myself in every other aspect and it does just feel more like a bruised feeling rather than anything else.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 15/02/2025 14:45

I have this but on my right side. And my shoulder pain is awful!!!

Blossomofhope · 15/02/2025 22:45

Hi ladies
I haven’t posted here in awhile. I’m 26 + 4 weeks. I have felt awful this week, so sick. Like I’m going backwards 😅 can’t wait til the baby is here!
For leg cramps I take magnesium and I think it does help.
As for the bruised rib feeling, I’ve also had that and think it’s just stretching.
The only thing that’s concerning me is the nausea and sickness because I feel like it’s preventing me from eating a bit.
Hope everyone is doing ok. It’s not easy. ☀️

Beccaa123 · 18/02/2025 09:03

How is everyone?
I had an appointment with my OB yesterday. I'm back taking Metformin to help with my blood sugars. I was taking it pre pregnancy for my pcos.
I am 27 weeks tomorrow and baby girl is already 1.1kg so it is likely I will get induced at 38 weeks.
I am on fortnightly checkups so she can keep track of her weight and the amount of fluid.

LozC0411 · 18/02/2025 09:07

Hi everyone 29+1 today, last Thursday I had my first growth scan, to which they found that baby boys head and tummy are measuring big and my fluid level is low around baby :( So they want to test me for GD and I now also have weekly scans... He was measuring on the 97th percentile and his estimated weight was 3lb4oz so I think I'm cooking a big baby!
Anyone else been in the same situation? FTM so slightly nervous

Why are you going to be induced early? Are there issues around fluid levels/other things going on?

I had my 28 week scan last week and they estimated baby's weight to be 1.2kg and didn't say this was too much?

I was told 1.1kg at 26+5 is over a week ahead.
She wasn't overly worried yet and hopes that using Metformin will slow the growth down. But if she keeps growing the way she is, weight wise, she will be big by 40 weeks.
It's also generally protocol with GD to induce due to babies generally being bigger & the increased risk of preeclampsia

TheBeesKnee · 18/02/2025 11:06

@LozC0411 this is my second pregnancy but with my first baby I wasn't diagnosed with GDM until I was 29/30 weeks - apparently my bump was measuring 1 week ahead and that set alarm bells off. That baby was always measuring big, 99th in utero, born 95th, etc but was otherwise healthy. He weighed 3.95 kg at birth.

I was also extremely nervous but ended up needing an EMCS during my induction because he flipped and was a footling presentation 😬 I was low key relieved because I was so tired from being sleep deprived on the ward for 2 days!

LeBonBon · 18/02/2025 12:48

Opposite problem here. 1.9 centile at 29 weeks. Waters, blood flow all normal. Already fed up of being at the hospital at least once a week for alternate community midwife/scan appointments. I was so desperate for a vbac but they'll probably want this baby out early again so I've got no hope 😞 Feeling a bit down about it all.

XioXio · 18/02/2025 13:05

@LeBonBon I feel you, I'm having a scan a week atm as baby is below 10th centile. Blood flow all fine. I'm going to be in the hospital 3 days running in a week for various appointments. It's all a bit much and gets me down

LeBonBon · 18/02/2025 13:15

@XioXio sorry to hear you're going through similar. It's really draining. And my DH can't keep taking time off for appointments (neither can my DM who still works) so I'm going alone most of the time. The midwives were kind and told me not to worry as all the vitals looked good, but I just want to be left alone.

WildWhirlwind · 18/02/2025 13:23

Hi everyone! Is a 28-week scan routine in some trusts? Or are you given one after something is flagged up somewhere in between the 20-week scan and now...? Double checking I've not missed something!

Slightly separate note but how are they estimating the weight of the baby? And what comes first, the scan or the weighing (what justifies what)?

12 and 20 week are the only scans you'll get if everything is ok... I am having weekly scans from 28 weeks due to growth, so if there's something they want to monitor that is why you'll have extra scans :)

Sierra26 · 18/02/2025 13:26

Can I ask which appointments you (recent posters!) are being measured at? Scans and estimates of baby’s weight?

I'm almost 26 weeks. Had last scan at 20, next is at 32. I have a midwife appt coming up at 28 but no mention of scanning. Will they measure fundal height then and assess from there?

Sierra26 · 18/02/2025 13:28

Ha @WildWhirlwind we had the same thoughts. Thanks for explaining @LozC0411 .

TheBeesKnee · 18/02/2025 13:29

Personally I'm getting extra scans (28, 32 and I think 36? weeks) because I have GDM and they want to keep an eye on baby's size, liquid levels and placenta.

I think had fewer scans in my first pregnancy!

LeBonBon · 18/02/2025 13:30

I'm having extra due to first baby's size - she was also SGA and born at 2nd centile

Yeah they originally planned for me to have them every 4 weeks form 28 weeks, but since my 28 week scan I now have them weekly for the next 4 weeks! To monitor his size and fluid level
