Ladies, can someone offer a bit of advice or help please😞 im probably around 4 weeks today but have had some sharp, shooting pains in my lower right abdomen (same as where i felt ovulation cramps). They aren’t super painful, just a few seconds long, and mainly when i get up from sitting. Have only had it a few times, but given our MC earlier this year everything worries me! Does anyone have any helpful words? 🩷

@Ruixue358 With my dd 7 years ago, sharp pains on my left side, and I went in for an incredibly early scan to check if ectopic. She wasn't! But the sonographer told me that you can often have residual bleeding/pain/swelling from the ovary that you ovulated from, and they could see my left one was slightly larger. If you're very worried, call 111 of go to a and e but try not to panic x

MaSads · 02/11/2024 09:52

Hi everyone, congrats on all the new bfps! I am 5 weeks 2 days today and have some cramping and spotting. Reminding myself that spotting is very common, have a gp appointment on Monday to discuss a referral to epu for an early scan. Hope everyone is feeling good today

Ruixue358 · 02/11/2024 10:47

@17nic @MaSads thanks both🩷 its so hard not to worry after suffering a loss (or worrying full stop, these first few weeks are hard!). Im calling EPU monday anyway as they told us after our MC we could get in touch for support, so will see what they say. Secretly hoping they offer us a scan though not holding my breath! Think ectopic is what im scared off although ive also read its super painful. Will have to wait and see and just hope that cause its from the same ovary its residual pain indeed, especially as ive only had these shooting pains a handful of times only xx

narwhalsarereal · 02/11/2024 11:55

@ALBXO I've got the same due date!

Thank you for the wishes @MaSads

i just got my results back for my second bloods. 2 days ago it was 304. Today it was 838 🥹 so it more than doubled. I’m so relieved 🩷 I am still keeping my fingers crossed that things continue to go well, but I am so glad to hear it’s doing well 😭

they are gonna have me back in on Monday to continue a few more bloods to see the trend 🩷 18 dpo today

17nic · 02/11/2024 15:51

🤞🤞🤞 @Plumchumm that sounds promising! Hopefully the trend continues upwards! X

Hoppityhophops · 02/11/2024 16:33

Congrats all. I've just got the 2 lines and am absolutely devestated. I'm 40 years old and our youngest is 8. I've got a lovely supportive DH of 15 yearsbut we are way past the baby stage. I'm too old for all this. I feel too embarrassed to tell anyone in real life, even though it was totally unplanned. I thought I was peri menopausal.

Hoppityhophops · 02/11/2024 16:35

It'll be baby number 4 by the way. We've got a 12, 11 and 8 year old. I'm entering the teenage drama years and left the nappy changing years ago

Superscientist · 02/11/2024 17:31

Oh @Hoppityhophops that must be a shock!
My nan had her surprise at 45. She had 4 already between 10 and 20!

We have blended generations in my family with my older sister, auntie and my dad's cousins which I think made things easier. The surprise is now in her 40s and 4 of the 5 children are close

Hoppityhophops · 02/11/2024 18:24

@Superscientist thank you for your reassurance. I know some people really struggle with fertility so I probably sound so ungrateful. But I'm just so tired these days. I'm also worried about the health risks for myself and the baby at my age. I worry about practicalities like cost and bedroom space. I know baby will be loved and cherished by hubby, our other kids and our families. However, I don't have any family locally anymore. I'm due 12th July BTW, so early days.

LifeonMarss · 02/11/2024 18:36

This might sound silly because its my first, is it best to contact my local hospital so they can pass me on to the midwife or do it through my GP? And when did/are you on planning on doing it?
My closest hospital don't have a maternity ward so I'd have to go further afield

Hoppityhophops · 02/11/2024 19:43

@lifeonmars it appears you can self refer now online

Frenchtoastie · 02/11/2024 19:50

Hi ladies
Can I join please?
i have a positive test clear blue says 1-2 weeks, first baby!
do I ring my gp for bloods to confirm? Is anyone else continuing to do tests?

Superscientist · 02/11/2024 21:07

How to access midwife care varies from place to place. Sometimes you can self refer at the hospital or it might be through your GP.

I had my daughter in 2020 and I could book my booking appointment with the midwife through the GP receptionist. I had a miscarriage in summer in a different town and now I had to fill in a form at the GP request the midwife. She phoned me the following week to arrange my booking appointment and she emailed me my maternity exception certificate. You can get this from form to apply for it from your gp. I did this with my first pregnancy as I saw my gp before I saw my midwife. You need this to get free prescriptions. I'm on regular medication so it's important for me to get this sorted quickly

They don't tend to do any blood tests unless there's a concern and then they might monitor HCG every 48h but default medical input during the first trimester is very minimal and quite underwhelming. You get a booking appointment sometime between 7 and 10 weeks - 10 weeks isn't uncommon so don't panic if towards the end of this period and your dating scan which is between 11 and 14 weeks. This has always been booked for me after the booking appointment. I had my first booking appointment at 9-10 weeks and my scan at 12+4 adjusted to 13 weeks after the scan. I had my booking appointment with my second pregnancy at 7 weeks, the appointment arrived the following week for 12 weeks but I miscarried at 10 weeks

I hope that helps @Frenchtoastie and @LifeonMarss

@Frenchtoastie I only take one test. With my first two pregnancies I tested at 5 days late and got dye stealers. One pregnancy was successful and one wasn't. This time I tested 2 days late and got an ok line so I'm happy with that knowing that I had a really strong line and it still wasn't meant to be. Pregnancy tests only tell you if you are pregnant and not if it's a viable pregnancy unfortunately

This is my second pregnancy, my last in feb ended was ectopic losing my tube. I’m a community midwife so unfortunately feel like i have no escape.
my lmp is 28/09 (32 day cycle) and i did a test on 31st which showed a faint line.
Confirmed with clear blue digital this morning saying “1-2 weeks”. I’ve got a nhs early scan on friday 15th to confirm it’s in my uterus but even then i won’t stop worrying.

But im going to try and remember what superscientist has said about pregnancy tests as i have found myself testing daily to see if its getting darker!!

im getting pain on my left side and keep trying to tell myself its psychological 🫠

17nic · 03/11/2024 07:59

Morning ladies! Hope everyone is feeling good this morning ✨️ just after some advice really as I'm a bit freaked out (18 months ttc and we are 2 months off starting ivf...) by the date of LMP I am 4+2 today, but I did a clearblue weeks test this morning, and it's coming up with 3+ weeks?! X

BeccaBee3 · 03/11/2024 08:20

Hi everyone, hope you don’t mind me joining. I got my BFP yesterday after trying for baby number 2 since January this year. I used a cheap test on Thursday that came back negative so I presumed that was it. Anyway woke up around 3am yesterday morning after dreaming a did a test that came back positive and had such a funny feeling, so I decided to use my last Clearblue test and it came back positive ❤️.
I have had these period like pains and have been feeling pretty tired but no other symptoms so far.
Hope everyone is ok and enjoying a lovely Sunday morning.

Frenchtoastie · 03/11/2024 08:21

Thankyou ^!

is it normal to feel anxious like it’s not real?
I have had positive tests getting darker since Thursday but I feel anxious my period will arrive?
does anyone else feel like that?
I wanted to tell my parents today but I feel worried my period will come next week

@superscientist can you remind me what a booking appointment is? Also, I think they used to take bloods at the first scan. Is this not the case now?

Hoppityhophops · 03/11/2024 08:30

Congrats to all who have bfps. It's been really eye opening and humbling to see how many of you have struggled to get to this point.

@superscientist can you remind me what a booking appointment is? Also, I think they used to take bloods at the first scan. Is this not the case now?

The booking appointment is the long appointment at the start of the pregnancy where they book you in and assign risk.

You will get asked a million questions about your health and family members health - what pregnancies your mother and sisters have had. Any parents or siblings have had spina bifida that sort of thing.
They take a blood sample too look for various things routine things but they also include sti and hiv tests also test your blood type. I had to drop a urine sample off after the appointment to test for UTIs as they wanted urine from the first wee of the day. You are assigned high or low risk. I am always assigned high risk because of a mental health condition which can get severe in pregnancy so it's not just risks to pregnancy risks to your physical and mental health are included.
They asked about what hospital I wanted my scans and my maternity care to be based at - with my first there was only 1 hospital near by but my friend did switch to the hospital she worked at for convenience. Last time I was equal distance to 2 hospitals one of which was connected to the local hospital for outpatient care. So I decided to go with that one having scans and obstetrician appts at the local hospital without a delivery suite and give birth at the main hospital.
They discussed the screening that they do at the 12 week scan looking for downs, Edwards and patau syndromes and there's a consent form to sign if you want to go ahead. That screening has too parts - the scan and a blood test they take after the scan. It takes about a week for your risks to come back.

Hello, I'm so glad I've stumbled across this group 😊. It's lovely to have people to share experiences with! I'm currently 4 weeks pregnant, due July the 12th. We've been trying for a while, and we're under IVF...this was the month that we weren't as obsessed. My husband booked to go to Montenegrowith his friends for a walking holiday in July, as we just assumed we wouldn't conceive. Then BAM, two lines 😂. I've had a CP pregnancy before, and I've already bled a little in this one (TMI but it was after a BM, so I think it's either pressure on my cervix or implantation bleeding). Anyway, I've been very anxious since then. Wiping a lot, checking there's no blood. Taking a lot of test. I'm trying to replace the anxiety with acceptance/excitement, but it's hard work! I'm looking forward to the reassurance scan at 7 weeks 😊. No real symptoms as of yet...apart from being more aware of smells!
