@kc92 great idea about the couch cushions, I'm off to try that now!

I like the idea of nappy free time but I'm not brave enough 🤣 could see have a little yeast infection maybe?

PinkWatermelon88 · 29/05/2025 12:09

@TripleESept24 I really don't mean to alarm you but thats how it was spotted that my little one had hand foot and mouth, it started in her nappy. It's so painful for them the wee mites. The Dr gave Hydrocortisone Canasten for use for 3 days then advised me to get medical gauze and bepanthen and literally COAT the gauze, and stick it on to her bum. No baby wipes, only water and bathe every night with a cup of baking soda in the bath for ease (be careful makes them SUPER slippy!) Worked wonders. Hope she feels better soon x

@FuppinNora thought of you this morning, my LO has become OBSESSED with her Baby Einstein Glow & Discovery toy. Get a good 10mins distratcion from it haha

TripleESept24 · 30/05/2025 07:38

@PinkWatermelon88 oh gosh! How did your little one pick that up? Esme doesn't go to nursery or mix with many other babies at the moment, she hasn't been out with other babies for like 12 days 🤔 I remember my older daughter having it she picked it up in school! Was your baby poorly/grouchy with it? I'll check her mouth too and see what it's like today.

We just had our first awful night since I can remember!! She was waking literally every half an hour from 1.15am...... not crying but just whingey. And I have work this morning, don't know how I'm going to function 😵‍💫😭

kc92 · 04/06/2025 20:32

@TripleESept24 how is Esme doing now? Hope the rash cleared up. 🤞🏻

I can't remember who it was but someone else's baby had positional talipes too. I was wondering how it was doing now? Mine is mostly over it I think, but he's a bit wobbly pulling himself up and it's in the back of my mind that his feet still turn in a little. I was hoping to hear how others who started off with it are doing at this age.

Also is anyone else feeling super frumpy this summer? I have no idea what suits me anymore, and I always seem to be covered in milk / mushed food / spit-up!

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 04/06/2025 20:49

@Kc92 joining you on the frumpiness. It's hot as hell where I live so I can't even cover myself up. I end up wearing the same tshirt and shorts every day. I've spent $$$ on new dresses and clothes and I can’t bring myself to wear them, I feel like a clown in anything nice.

SpicyMoth · 04/06/2025 20:56

Also joining in with the frumpiness @kc92!
I've just today been told I have hypothyroidism though, so I can't help but wonder how much of it could be to do with that - I really do recommend getting your bloods checked if anyones feeling especially fatigued, dry skin, low mood, etc or struggling with their weight.

Not sure if its postnatal thyroiditis or a full blown undiagnosed long term thing just yet, but either way having thyroid issues postpartum seems to be a thing!

TripleESept24 · 04/06/2025 21:40

Hey @kc92 her rash cleared up within like 3 days 🙏 Thank goodness. She's good but think she's teething we have odd random nights wheres she's waking crying and restless.

She eats sooooo well now. 3 meals a day and some snacks and she always clears her plate/bowl! She had an omelette tonight, pasta last night, and chicken with sweet potato cubes and rice the night before. She prefers feeding herself now or having chunks and eating things!! Not into spoons apart from yogurt or porridge!! Even spag bol we use hands 🤣🤣🤣

I run out of inspiration sometimes on things to cook her but found some helpful things on this menu...... https://www.madeformums.com/baby/baby-weekly-meal-planner-8-months/

Re the frumpiness.... I am such a yo-yo with my weight!! I will eat healthy for a period and then just go mad and have takeaways and eat out! Parents came up for bank holiday and I put on half a stone over like a week! 🤦‍♀️🙈 Back on the healthy eating and have lost it all again already but the minute I eat a burger or a pizza and go off track it'll just go back on! I have zero energy to go to the gym at the minute and my backs always in pain but that's what I need to do really to maintain...... I had to order and buy loads of new clothes. I went with floaty dresses and wide leg stretchy linen trousers! For the mum tum!! It has made me feel better when I do go out and put something nice on but I live in joggers at home which get dirty every day!!

Esme isn't anywhere near as sicky as she used to be now she's eating proper solid food so well 😀

Do we have many crawlers? She's well on the move but more of a drag and pull along the floor at the moment 🤣

8.5 months and still no teeth here 👀

SpicyMoth · 04/06/2025 22:11

No crawling here nor any teeth!
Bear just rolls absolutely everywhere, I'll put him down sitting in one place, look away for about 1o seconds and he'll be totally at the other end of the room hahaha

I have a hunch Bear may end up not crawling at all and just go straight to standing to be honest, he always wants to be on his feet - we'll have to wait and see though!

@HuggingAnIcePack887Esme is SO cute!!!! Love that cheeky smile ♡

All our babies are getting so big now! Ugh, I love seeing baby pics ♡
Here's Bear!

@HuggingAnIcePack887 gah I would not cope in the heat! I have stretch marks literally all down the insides of my legs to my ankles, and up to my ribcage, from pregnancy edema and giant babies. So I'll never be moving to a hot climate.

@SpicyMoth how are you feeling now? Are you able to treat it? I'm almost jealous you got the diagnosis! I had bloods done a few months ago hoping they'd tell me it was hypothyroidism but no, I just was eating too much during night feeds. 🫠 Have lost 10kg with a diet & gym plan but I am hungry 24/7.

@TripleESept24 glad she's feeling better - and she is ADORABLE.

Mine is crawling & climbing everything but he's so unsteady pulling himself up that I don't think he'll be walking anytime soon. Teeth 3&4 cutting here, painfully slowly! We're on 3 meals & 2 snacks a day, and he's literally always hungry for more. He crawls under the table looking for any crumbs to eat as soon as he's done in the highchair.

I'm hoping so, I pick up some medication for it tomorrow - 100mg of... something, I don't actually know what its called yet to be honest, my GP is a bit poo so I don't really know much of anything about it or if its permanent or postpartum etc, all I know is my nan and two of my aunts have thyroid troubles too!

I'm relieved and vindicated with it to be honest, I've been eating around 1200 to 1500 calories every day for the last 4 or 5 months plus breastfeeding, going to the gym or exercising with hours long walks and been losing very little or even GAINING weight which has been very demotivating and depressing - when I went to see my GP about it he was very dismissive saying its unlikely I have thyroid problems and even rolling his eyes at me!
Needless to say I went from feeling like shit, to feeling just utter relief in the space of a single phonecall, I really hope it helps my spherical face and distinct lack of any discernable neck 😅🙈

TripleESept24 · 04/06/2025 22:42

@SpicyMoth awwww look at all bears hair!! I thought Esme's was getting long! I give her a side sweep 🤣 Esme likes being on her feet too! She will stand at the furniture for a while! Some can't be bothered with crawling!!

@kc92 how old is your little one now? How much milk has he gone down to with all that food is he bottle or breast?? I was thinking Esme is eating alot for her age!! But she just loves her food! So I think it's good if they are enjoying it!! 😀

Honestly he needs another trim soon, its just so difficult to do! 😅😅😭

kc92 · 05/06/2025 10:39

@SpicyMoth that's so vindicating 💪🏻💪🏻 I really hope you said "I told you so". I find healthcare professionals really infantalising around pregnancy / birth / postpartum. Hopefully the meds help with getting it under control - and pharmacists are usually a bit better explaining things anyway.

I use the breastfeeding mama calculator to work out my daily calories and I think I will simply keep breastfeeding forever instead of dropping any. 😅

& Bear is too cute!! My DS has turned into a blondie & his hair is thickening out again too but no where close to that.

@TripleESept24 He's just 9 months this week. Still BF but I'm hoping the feeds drop a bit. He's been really congested for two weeks so his latch has been woeful & he's been on & off constantly. Finally over the cold so we went back to night weaning 2 days ago! First night was tough but he was only up twice between 10 & 7 last night. Aim is to get that down to 0 in the next two months.

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 05/06/2025 14:21

@kc92 good luck with the night weaning! Outside of teething, sickness, travel etc, my baby pretty much dropped his night feeds by himself except the 4/5am feed. I have no idea how to drop that. If I don't feed him, no amount of rocking, cuddles, etc etc will put him back to sleep. He is up for the day if I don't breastfeed him then....and he is super super tired and grumpy so he does need the extra sleep.

All the blogs I follow say do whatever you can to get them back to sleep at 4/5 because otherwise it becomes their new wake up time and you'll be stuck with it for years 😂

On the other hand 7pm - 4am is an excellent stretch of sleep and no milk obviously. It just kills me waking so early as I usually catch up on work in the evenings, I can't go to bed at 8/9pm. And I can’t go back to sleep after 4am, my body is just up then.

Tried a dream feed at 10pm, it never worked for us. He doesn't take much milk and makes no difference to the other feeds.

WinsandSam · 05/06/2025 19:43

@kc92also feeling rough! My belly is so flabby and feeling very uncomfortable 🥴 with BF too I can’t wear any dresses. So will be living in cycling shorts and a T-shirt. Basically same as pregnancy

@SpicyMothoh me too! I have Graves’ disease. My meds were upped during pregnancy and never checked after birth. So have reduced my meds and feel far less tired. No idea how I survived the first 6 months like it. Hopefully with meds you feel better soon.

@HuggingAnIcePack887my word, I’d give anything for one wake at 4am!! We’re still about 5 x a night here.

@TripleESept24wow, that’s amazing. Ruby is only having snacks still. Not a big eater! Her staple is Greek yogurt and strawberries. no crawling here but I think will be walking soon. Can hold her weight and take steps holding my fingers. She has 2 teeth through now.

Still EBF and can’t stop eating 😂

WinsandSam · 05/06/2025 19:44

Here’s a pic of Ruby now at 8 months (is 9 months on 20th)
all your little ones are adorable

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 05/06/2025 20:21

@WinsandSam oh dear, 5 feeds a night is what he does when teething and it breaks me every time.

I night weaned by reducing the feeds by 30 seconds each night and not letting him fall asleep on the boob. I'd unlatch him, comfort him and put him down. Once feeds were really short (I knew he was getting nothing as there wasn't time for a letdown), I made his dad go in and comfort him, I wouldn't go in at all. He never actually cried and within a few days he realized there was probably no point waking us up.

I still do this after every teething / sickness episode as I obviously do offer the breast through the night then and then I night wean/sleep train all over again.

Except 4am. That one he goes NUTS if I try to shorten it. Full on heartbreaking screaming and have to pick him up within 5 seconds as I can't listen to it.

Omg so cuteeee!!! I adore the leopard print, I need one of those in my size!!

Awh I can just imagine all our wee ones being such best friends - its so crazy to think its not long till we'll have one year olds on our hands 🙊

TripleESept24 · 05/06/2025 21:03

Awwww @WinsandSam she's so cute!!

SpicyMoth · 05/06/2025 21:05

@WinsandSam just googled graves disease, you poor thing - it sounds like a right pain the bum to get diagnosed ! Was it difficult to get taken seriously?

The amount of times I've been fobbed off or just stuck on antidepressants or anxiety mess I've genuinely lost track of 😬

Based on the symptoms I bet it was similar for you?

TripleESept24 · 05/06/2025 22:18

@WinsandSam Esme and Ruby are only one day apart 🫶🥰 She's 9 months on the 21st!!

How have we had our babies for as long as we were pregnant it's mad!

Is anyone thinking of any more?? I am 🙈 not yet but next year I reckon!

WinsandSam · 06/06/2025 07:54

@HuggingAnIcePack887think my body has just gotten used to it now as I don’t feel too bad most days. Although going to work will be a struggle. She just screams if I take her off the boob and will only settle with the boob through the night. I’ve tried letting my partner comfort her and it’s horrible, she cries, arches her back etc so I’m just rolling with it. So basically what you get at 4am if my whole night. We co sleep so it means I don’t fully have to weight.

@SpicyMoth I also love a bit of leopard print! I got her these in 3 sizes in the same suit 😂 it is mad how fast the time has gone, whereas pregnancy went so slowly.
Re Graves- I was diagnosed over 10 years ago now. After months of feeling like I was going to have a heart attack and losing weight. Also kept being put on antidepressants and told I was anxious 🤬 it was really frustrating as I knew something was off. My dad has it too

@TripleESept24aaww 😍 no, we are one and done I believe. I’m 41 now so don’t think my old body can take another, nor my sanity 😂 we didn’t think we could have any so feel grateful to have her

kc92 · 06/06/2025 09:08

@HuggingAnIcePack887 thank you! Can I ask how did you time the feeds to know you were 30 seconds from the end? I haven't a notion how long he feeds for. I'm taking the slowly stretching time approach - aiming for 3 hours and then when that's routine, 4, etc., My DH is going on a trip in July for a week & I need sleep sorted before then. My toddler has decided he's too big for night nappies so he's up once or twice a night right now for the toilet too. 🫠

@WinsandSam Ruby is too cute in that set!! I wish boys stuff was half as gorgeous.

@TripleESept24 sometimes I get so so broody and then I slap myself back to reality. Two kids is a lot of kids! And I think I might enjoy motherhood more if I don't stretch myself too thin. Current plan is to wait until baba is two before making any big decisions so have made an appt to get the coil this month. I had a dream last night I went to the appointment and they told me I was pregnant with twins. 😅

@SpicyMoth I've already started looking for bits for his birthday! & I did a scrapbook of my DS1's first year so I really need to start DS2s or just hide the first one. 😅

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 06/06/2025 14:43

@kc92 I checked the baby monitor for how long he was out of bed and used that as an initial guide. It's not quite an exact science. I noticed he was just sort of suckling, especially before 2am, so for those I sent DH in early on. He quickly gave those up.

The 2/3am feeds were hard to stop and he picks that up when he's poorly etc so I'd say he gets that 3/4 nights every few weeks then I stop entirely when he's better, I don't mess around with timed feeds anymore. The 4/5am never gave up yet.

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 06/06/2025 14:46

@WinsandSam If I wasn't forced back into work at 6 months, I'd be with you. I had no choice unfortunately, I can't function being woken up 2-3 hours.

I've had to take sick days here and there when baby is teething because I can't even drive, let alone handle my clients' cases (I'm a solicitor).

Safe to say my promotion prospects have gone down the pan. My performance is like 30% of what it was pre-baby.
