Saw we hit page 40, so figured I'd get a head start on the next thread just in case!!

Oh gosh, I just thought, there may not be very many more of these threads - I wonder if this one may even be the last?!

HUGE congrats to @MudandMoet on their gorgeous wee one!!
Best of luck on your way home this afternoon/this evening, I'm desperate to ask all about what it was like but I'll avoid that as I don't want anyone to get nervous/anxious about what's to come!!

Super glad you're feeling mostly okay and so so SO happy for you! <3

@TripleESept24 yes! Definitely swollen. Not painful but certainly puffier.

@PoppingUp that's hilarious and a good explanation as I did have a look with a mirror.. a few ml of filler is a good description 😂

@HuggingAnIcePack887 congratulations and sorry to hear you've had a tough time. Sure home is lovely compared to horrible hospitals. The pain is my fear and I'm a massive wimp!

RosiePH · 29/08/2024 10:09

Just been diagnosed with GD at 36 weeks! Waiting to hear from the diabetes clinic and I had a consultant appointment tomorrow anyway so they will talk to me more then.
They can’t actually see me in the GD clinic until I am 38+5 though and I have a c-section at 39+1 already booked anyway!

TripleESept24 · 29/08/2024 11:50

Thanks everyone for your replies!! I've looked in mirror no veins that I can see or prolapsing or anything of that nature just super puffy and swollen!!!!!

2 weeks until due date 😬🫶🩷 I have a feeling she will come early but we shall see

JeBee · 29/08/2024 15:47

Genuinely so chuffed someone has brought up the swollen feeling, I’d been panicking. Question though… I have the same feeling for my bum hole as well. It’s almost sore like I’ve had the runs… anyone else?! I am presuming just normal feeling of pressure and stretching but thought I’d throw it into the mix 😂

I think it's luck of the draw on the way baby is sitting in your pelvis. 🙈 This happened on my first around 37 weeks and I was horrified - though thankfully it did all go back to normal after recovery! This time around it hasn't happened yet at 39+1 but baby is a little higher so far and is turned the right way.

Fik88 · 29/08/2024 18:38

Congratulations @HuggingAnIcePack887 on the birth of your baby boy 💙
Good Luck @Emmaev hope everything goes okay and you get to meet baby soon

WinsandSam · 29/08/2024 18:43

@FuppinNora now you doing?? Been thinking about you and your c section yesterday x

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 29/08/2024 18:50

Cinai2 · 29/08/2024 05:47

@HuggingAnIcePack887 Congratulations! 🩵 What pain killers did they give you after the section? Glad you’re home and feeling better!

@Cinai2 they gave me pethidine, voltarin injection and paracetamol. There was a mix up in recovery and it took 5 hours to give me the first pain relief after the c section so I was massively behind on the pain management. I was in absolute agony for about 8 hours after that, it took until the next morning (c section was afternoon) for the pain relief to work properly. So that was quite a fuck up, and I've made a complaint to the hospital. I'm in private care btw before anyone slams the NHS 😅

C section was Monday and now it's Thursday and I am feeling like myself again. Getting in and out of bed is still hard but walking around is fine.

I had my first poo Wednesday evening (scary but I recommend water + prunes + a stool to put feet on + pillow against the scar, it did the trick and it was fine!).

Xur · 29/08/2024 20:41

@Emmaev I had a scare today, was sent to hospital by my midwife due to elevated blood pressure. Essentially she scared me into thinking I’m going to hospital in a single direction and induction is imminent.
I also had a growth scan today after the clinic at hospital and the baby’s growth has kicked back up so we’ve gained centiles!
In the end all is well, I am home and bun is still in the oven. I will just need to pop in for monitoring twice leading into my due date.

Cinai2 · 29/08/2024 21:24

@HuggingAnIcePack887 thank you fir sharing your experience! Glad you’re feeling better now!

Emmaev · 29/08/2024 22:52

@Xur this is exactly what happened to me, this is my 4th time coming in with high bp and they were about to send me on my way after 3 but the dr wanted one more reading due to me coming in so often and low and behold it was high again. I’m on labetolol at the moment, it’s only a small dose but it’s doing the trick so far.

I wanted a spontaneous labour but due to the high bp it’s had to be an induction which I’ve come to peace with, baby girl is the most important thing. I’m 39+3 at the moment anyway so seemed pointless to me to keep trying to battle the bp when it could develop into something worse like previous. Does mean I’m stuck in hospital until she comes now though. So we shall see when she makes an appearance!

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 30/08/2024 00:12

@SpicyMoth breastfeeding has been hard because baby wants to feed all the time so I'm getting v little sleep while in pain but you just need to persevere at this stage. Nipples are sore in spite of latch being good, it's just because he's on the boob all the time. Having a supportive DH and a nice lactation consultant that came and helped me with my latch has helped a lot.

I had expressed colostrum and took it to hospital which baby loved as we were separated for a few hours and also came in handy when he was mega mega hungry on night 2. If I didn't have that, I would have ended up giving him a bottle to be honest.

The best video which my lactation consultant sent me is this, highly recommend it:

Xur · 30/08/2024 07:59

@Emmaev I’m going to go to the gym every day now see if it does something to my BP or no, before I was going every few days. Some weeks every other day, some days every third day, but now I’ll try do every day. Because I have monitoring booked next week I’ll be able to see if it makes any difference

Babyplease23 · 30/08/2024 11:33

Is anyone else on here pregnant via IVF? I had my 36 week appointment today and was told (much to my surprise) that there's a higher risk of stillbirth with IVF pregnancies that go over their due date and I could possibly be looking at induction at 39 weeks, despite having no issues in the pregnancy so far.. It seems a bit excessive to me but maybe that's just me wanting things to progress naturally if possible..

BakeOffRewatch · 30/08/2024 11:41

@Babyplease23 i haven’t but I’m at that age where have a few friends who’ve done egg freezing and doing IVF now, though privately. The advice given to them is often different to what’s written on the NHS website or I’ve been told in my pregnancies, they think it’s because the private clinics marketing is based off their statistics of percentage successful births. Such as they’re told to avoid raising their heart rate and rest completely in first trimester, because there is a slight correlation with adverse outcomes. Whereas I’ve always been told to ensure to keep up activity.

rupertbear91 · 30/08/2024 12:39

@Babyplease23 our friends have just had their ivf baby and we're under the lead hospital consultant for their pregnancy. They were also advised of this and had their baby by c section at 39 weeks. They had a few sweeps at 38 weeks to see if they could get things moving naturally but nothing happened so they opted for section. Baby lovely and healthy and 8'9!

TripleESept24 · 30/08/2024 13:11

WinsandSam · 30/08/2024 13:26

@Babyplease23 I'm not via IVF but also aware from friends that they like baby to arrive at 39 weeks. I guess similar to reasons why I'm having to be 39 weeks due to my age. Probably trying to avoid many risks and with age comes increased risk of still birth

@TripleESept24 happy last day at work!! I cried a lot on my last day as everyone was so nice.

Caroline2023 · 30/08/2024 13:32

@Babyplease23 I am pregnant via ivf and my trust does not follow this protocol. My understanding is it is an outdated construct and more recent evidence doesn’t support it. I do understand that a lot of trusts still follow it though. I’m under consultant led care and it’s not part of my care plan.

@TripleESept24 happy last day of work! What a lovely celebration for you

Caroline2023 · 30/08/2024 13:33

Has anyone else had a growth scan and baby showing as large? I had kind yesterday and she’s apparently on the 89th centile which surprised the sonographer and midwives as I’m measuring small for fundal height. I realise there’s lots of stories of inaccuracies in the scan, but I’m slightly panicking now!

Babyplease23 · 30/08/2024 13:53

Thank you for the info everyone. I guess I'm just a bit surprised as I was considered "high risk" due to IVF up until 12 weeks when they moved me down to low risk and now this is the first I've heard about induction before due date. I'm also in my late 20s so assuming age doesn't play a factor into induction. Think I'll look into the pros and cons before rushing into a decision!

WinsandSam · 30/08/2024 13:59

Just got my c section date 😬😬😬 20th September... shit is getting real now!!

PinkWatermelon88 · 30/08/2024 14:54

@WinsandSam may I be very rude and ask your age (even a range will do) as you mentioned it impacted your section date? Had my first at 36, on my second at 39 and currently 37+3. So tired! Came in to town to get a few bits and after 10mins walking at snails pace I had to go back to my car to rest! This pregnancy lark is hard 🙈

kc92 · 30/08/2024 14:58

@Caroline2023 mine is in the 90th centiles for all measurements so with you there! I did have a few back to back growth scans to confirm though - my sonographer recommended a second 2 weeks after the first.

Not too worried as my first was a chunky boy too but I am very tired of the pressure to induce from my hospital. 🙈

@WinsandSam congrats on your section date! That'll absolutely fly by.

mrsbgb · 30/08/2024 15:32

@TripleESept24 that's so sweet! Happy last day at work :)

@Caroline2023 baby is measuring about 95th centile, and fundal height is only 10th - can't get my head around this - but they don't seem too concerned. I think there's a big margin for error with overall size in these later scans and if you don't have GD or similar, it shouldn't impact birth as baby is still the right kind of size for your body from what I've read!
