Saw we hit page 40, so figured I'd get a head start on the next thread just in case!!

Oh gosh, I just thought, there may not be very many more of these threads - I wonder if this one may even be the last?!

HUGE congrats to @MudandMoet on their gorgeous wee one!!
Best of luck on your way home this afternoon/this evening, I'm desperate to ask all about what it was like but I'll avoid that as I don't want anyone to get nervous/anxious about what's to come!!

Super glad you're feeling mostly okay and so so SO happy for you! <3

Wow @kc92 what a day! I hate the appointments too, having to be somewhere on time?!

@PinkWatermelon88 i definitely think our brains delete it for us. However teething and the 2 year sleep regression have left indelible marks on me. God, teething. There’s just nothing you can do to calm them. I remember when I watched Eat, Pray, Love and the healer says a child is possessed by a demon, Julia Robert’s says it looks like teething and is told “it’s the same thing”. I didn’t get it at the time. Anyway I’m getting a bit ahead of ourselves!

thank you for the app recommendations. I’ve heard of huckleberry before.

@WinsandSam youll surprise yourself when your partner goes back to work.

@Emmaev i read a thread on here the other day where someone (well their DH and the aibu was about the DH) had got a hot drink on their baby, it was awful. Sure you’re being careful, just when I read babywearing+hot drink I thought it worth mentioning

WinsandSam · 14/10/2024 21:53

Thank you all for sharing your troubles. I'm glad I spoke up now as felt very alone with the feelings. Glad everyone hasn't left this group or I'd feel so alone with it all.

Baby has actually had a nap tonight, first time in days 🙌🏻 it's about the little wins I guess after a crappy few days/nights. Someone told me to buy one of the babymoov things so I sent my partner to go get one of marketplace. Seems to be doing the trick for now.
I'm also drinking fennel tea to try and help her gas. Probably won't do anything but worth a try I guess

@BakeOffRewatch ah yes absolutely, when I say hot, it was luke warm, because I have the same worries. But usually it’s stone cold so was a cast improvement haha

BakeOffRewatch · 14/10/2024 22:32

Your baby looks so cosy @WinsandSam ! I hadn’t heard of the babymoov pillow before, what’s it meant to do?

WinsandSam · 14/10/2024 23:03

@BakeOffRewatch I think it's meant to make them feel more secure/held in a cot/buggy/bed. Makes them cosy. Head doesn't roll around and legs are raised up. Apparently sleep safe but who bloody knows 😂got this for £10 locally

Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a while but have been following the thread as it's been super helpful and comforting. My little one was born 6 weeks ago. I was going to message today to see how everyone is getting on. Reading the messages from today has been so comforting. ❤️ I feel like all I've been doing is feeding my little one non stop for the last 6 weeks. I felt so emotional today because I also have a 3 year old LG who is at home with me and it's been a real struggle to give her any attention as the baby isn't settled unless held / being fed. The mom guilt is unreal! 😩 It's been so lovely to read all your messages and knowing I'm not the only one in the thick of it 💕 I know they say it's just a phase but omg, it's tough! I don't remember it being this hard with my first one but maybe I'm just choosing to remember the good bits 😂

I've literally gone onto Marketplace and messaged a lady locally to see if the one she's selling is still available! 😅

Your little one is so beautiful!😍 I can see you're using Love to dream swaddle, my baby absolutely hates it 😳 even though it worked like a dream with his sister! No idea why 🥴 Not sure if to keep preserving or just give up and wait until he's bigger to get a sleeping bag.

Decaffe · 14/10/2024 23:36

@Emmaev what sling did you buy and @WinsandSam what spotty sleep suit is that? I’m spending a fortune on things to try to get him to sleep etc 😅

DH is back at work tomorrow after four weeks and it’s fair to say absolutely no one is looking forward to it. DS still will not be put down at all, not even 15 mins. I am just going to have to have him in my arms from 7:30am-5:30pm and it’s going to be lovely but utterly exhausting.

WinsandSam · 15/10/2024 02:02

@luckyfaith welcome to the no sleep/lots of emotions crew 🤪 sorry to hear you're also struggling especially with mum guilt. I'm sure you're doing all you can for both of your little ones. Medals to those of you with more than one as in finding this monkey hard enough!

Hope you manage to find the pillow thing helpful. She's just slept in her cot for almost 2hours on it. Must be fluke!

Yes the love to dream swaddle is a lifesaver for us! She hated being swaddled for first week but has loved it since. She kept hitting herself in the face so stops that too.

@Decaffe that's a love to dream swaddle bag! Got it off Vinted to try (didn't want to spend £30 if didn't help.) she loved it! Need to buy a bigger one for her too

WinsandSam · 15/10/2024 02:04

@Decaffe I feel your stress about partner returning to work!! I'm sure you ok can do it. I'm having my mum visit on that day for a bit of support and to give my arms a rest.

Sling wise we have the koala one and she loves it!! Always sleeps in it as like a fabric hug 🤗

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 15/10/2024 04:19

Anyone know if the WhatsApp group is still going and how to join? I'm finding this chat so helpful, I don't want it to end!

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 15/10/2024 04:22

@WinsandSam yes, my baby is also very vocal, lots of grunting when pooing but also in his sleep, it's too loud to even be in the same room if he's in active sleep. He also HATES having a wet or dirty nappy, we have to change him instantly or he screams and screams!

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 15/10/2024 04:23

@Decaffe I sobbed and had a total breakdown in the days before DH going back to work, I was so so terrified. It was fine, we survived!

Emmaev · 15/10/2024 07:40

@Decaffe I have a freerider sling, it’s so soft and indie looks so comfortable in it so I’d definitely recommend.

Also wondering about the WhatsApp group?

BakeOffRewatch · 15/10/2024 09:37

@kc92 for double buggies, i got the Cybex Gazelle S and a buggy board, you have to get the one specific to it. I can send you an NBS 15% off code if you want one. https://www.naturalbabyshower.co.uk/products/gazelle-s-essential-bundle-ocean-blue . I tried it in a store, it is really easy to change the different configurations, and collapse. You can’t collapse it with the carrycot, but you can collapse it with two pushchair seats, video here s
. I don’t think it’s the best buggy board out there, but I wanted something very lightweight anyway and I could live with the cons mentioned in this video . I’ve used it with carrycot, buggy board and shopping basket and am happy with it so far. For school runs which I don’t have to do yet, I’ve seen people carry baby in carrier and schoolchild in buggy, or schoolchild walking and then they get in to get to school after their younger sibling dropped off. I liked it cos it has a very high weight limit on the seats, 22kg.

WinsandSam · 15/10/2024 10:15

@Emmaev @HuggingAnIcePack887 I'm not sure but imagine the group is still going. I was in it months ago but left as too many messages. Might also enjoy it now but not sure how you re join?!

@Xur I think you added up to the WhatsApp group?

WinsandSam · 15/10/2024 10:16

Found the WhatsApp link on the Facebook group 🥰

Hi Everyone!

Sorry to hear lots of you are struggling but it’s also comforting that we are all going through it.

My little boy is 11 days old today and he is constantly on the boob.. his latch is still bad so think that’s why he is constantly on me as he is not efficiently getting the milk out 😩

He also has not poo’d for 6 days so I am getting worried. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain but seems like a long time to go with no poo. Seeing doctor tomorrow so will see what they say 😬

kc92 · 15/10/2024 12:15

@BakeOffRewatch thank you! 🥰

& Just joined the Facebook group - love the idea of being able to share how cute baby boy is on whatsapp. Didn't want to post him on a public forum but I want to show him off before he loses all his beautiful hair. 😂 I'm terrible for keeping up with busy chats though!!

@UnicornRainbow2 mine started pooping just once or twice a week around that age too. He saves it all up for one go it seems. 🥲 breastmilk is a laxative so guessing you have a poonami in your near future!

@luckyfaith with you on the mom guilt. 🙈 Two sick kiddos today so Kipper the Dog has been on pretty much constantly and we had cheese sandwiches for lunch eaten as a floor picnic because I hadn't cleaned breakfast away yet. House is a bomb and both of them seem to need attention at exactly the same time.

luckyfaith · 15/10/2024 18:22

I once got sent this article when my first was born - still makes me laugh to this date! And I really needed a good laugh today. Hope everyone is getting on ok ❤️

I have the sling and my partner has worn it twice, I just need to get her off me long enough to practise putting it on and then hopefully some babywearing in the coming days will make the daytimes more manageable - 1 week until my partner goes back to work!

We have a wheat bag thing that we heat up which has helped us put her into her crib. My partner changes her to wake her up, and then while I'm feeding her he heats it up and puts it on her mattress, and we pull it away when I'm done and she's drowsy or asleep. This has made a big difference and she has slept properly in the crib every night since we tried that.

It's also nearly 8pm here and have yet to have a big fuss today 😀Tonight or tomorrow might be another story 🙃

TripleESept24 · 15/10/2024 19:15

Hey everyone, checking in to say feeling exactly the same, emotional, tired, baby won't sleep in crib (other than the odd occasion for an hour or so, but very rare!!) she is 3 weeks and 3 days, and on a formula top up feeding plan now due to her weight loss. She's had 3 weight gains now which is great hopefully things seem to be on the up.

I'm really worried though about my milk supply, I get absolutely nothing from pumping, I've tried 3 different pumps. She still goes to the boob but I feel it's more comfort and she isn't getting much milk (even when I squeeze my nipples now I don't seem to be getting much/a few droplets on nipples) I keep crying and thinking that my breast feeding journey could be over already and that all though I've tried everything my supply just isn't good enough.

@UnicornRainbow2 Esme didn't poo for 6 days then honestly the biggest explosion when she started on formula. She's now been on formula 5 days and she hasn't pooed again now in 3 days....... She is weeing ALOT! but she cries a lot and I think she must be struggling to pass the poo!!

Tomorrow is the first time for us going in town with her. We have been food shopping with her in car, and walked round the park and to the shop..... But tomorrow is council offices in town for her birthday certificate!! Also popping into my work to show her to everyone. Having to be somewhere at a set time and get organised in the morning feels like such a stress 😭😭😭

@luckyfaith needed that laugh today! 😂 Though ironically right now my little one has a cold and if he gets any sleepier our GP has told us to go straight to A&E. 🫠 Never thought Id be worried about a baby sleeping too much!!

& @TripleESept24 that must have been so frustrating! Pretty sure you've probably been given advise out your ears so scroll past this next bit if you just want to stick to solidarity.

Have you tried different flange sizes? That made all the difference for me - standard flange size that comes with pumps is 24mm. When I switched to 17mm it doubled my output. Plus sometimes lubing up the flange helps. 😅 I used lanolin since it's safe for feeding. Heating and massaging the boob before pumping helps too. Plus stimulating a let down with hand expression before putting the pump on.

I personally hate electric pumps - much prefer the haaka. Using this on the opposite side when you have baby latched on can be a game changer because their feeding stimulates a letter down.

There's also loads of foods that help increase milk supply - anything with yeast causes it to boom so good excuse for a beer! Or oats are really good too.

The time you pump at makes a big difference too. I have an oversupply (different set of problems!!) but even I'd get barely anything in the evening time. Night or early morning yields the best results I think.

Even if baby isn't getting a ton of milk there's still a ton of benefits of breastfeeding, from oral development to temperature regulation. But the most important thing is a healthy happy mama so definitely prioritise what makes you feel the best. ❤️

You've been through a lot the last 3 weeks and that has a huge impact on your body and supply. Hard to get the rest you need for a recovery with a new baby too so be kind to yourself!
