Saw we hit page 40, so figured I'd get a head start on the next thread just in case!!

Oh gosh, I just thought, there may not be very many more of these threads - I wonder if this one may even be the last?!

HUGE congrats to @MudandMoet on their gorgeous wee one!!
Best of luck on your way home this afternoon/this evening, I'm desperate to ask all about what it was like but I'll avoid that as I don't want anyone to get nervous/anxious about what's to come!!

Super glad you're feeling mostly okay and so so SO happy for you! <3

Been for my last appointment. Baby is engaged, but my cervix is not very open!!! She just managed to get in and give it a sweep.

Induction (outpatient) booked for Monday 23rd.

@PinkWatermelon88 how did yours go??

I'm just having a bit of a meltdown now, I feel so on edge and emotional. All of my family are hundreds of miles away in Cornwall (I'm in Nottingham) and are coming up next week, Tuesday-Friday. However I had issues yesterday on Trainlines website, with booking their travel...... And my daughter has just realised all of the dates are wrong 😓 just spent 40 mins on the phone to them and it all needs to be rebooked for the correct dates before they can issue refunds for the wrong tickets. Ughhhhhh not what I needed 😓 literally been in tears.

I also feel like if induction is longggggg or there are any issues I could still be in hospital when they arrive on Tuesday 😣😓 so I am really hoping she makes an appearance this week before Monday 😭

Caroline2023 · 18/09/2024 18:06

@TripleESept24 sorry to hear that things are feeling so stressful 😣 I hope there is some movement from the sweep today 🤞🏻

It’s c section day for me tomorrow! Feeling very nervous now and wishing it was this time tomorrow already!

TripleESept24 · 18/09/2024 18:18

Thanks @Caroline2023 ! I'm going to try my hardest to just relax these next 5 days (other than bouncing on my ball and walking the dog!)

It is nice having a date set and I hope tomorrow goes nice and smoothly and this time tomorrow you'll have your baby in your arms!! 😍 Try get a good night's sleep!

PinkWatermelon88 · 18/09/2024 18:27

@TripleESept24 ah sounds like you've had a really stressful day, I'm sorry to hear. Try relax for yourself now this evening if you can. My midwife said to walk walk walk, get on the ball and get the good juices flowing so I'm watching Friends and listening to my birthing playlist. How long do you stay in hosp in the UK after birth? I'm in Ireland and while it varies hosp to hosp I'd say I'll be in for 2n minimum anyway.

I was 2cm dilated and my cervix was soft, so she's really hopeful this sweep will work. I'm in agony since but could all be BH still. Induction booked for Sunday, but I can always refuse if I. think baba will still come themselves. Next available date is Wednesday!

TripleESept24 · 18/09/2024 18:31

@PinkWatermelon88 sounds like your sweep was more successful than mine! 👏🤞❤️ I've not really had any cramping or bleeding 😓 I bled on the first one!

Went for a walk round Aldi to get some bits, walked the dog and i've been bouncing all day on the ball!! They say ball bouncing eases your back pain!! Not mine! I have terrible shoulder pain and it doesn't help that at all it's actually really uncomfortable 😓

SpicyMoth · 18/09/2024 18:41

I wanted to post here sooner but I've been SO exhausted.
I ended up with my worst fear plus just general awful and traumatic experience the whole way through! 😅

So 3 failed balloon insertion attempts as I mentioned before, were then followed up with balloon removal after 24 hours, and then 3 more failed attempts to break my waters.
Ended up with a grand total of 7 or 8 people inside me (I genuinely lost track) trying to get things moving within the space of 36 hours.
Contractions started quickly, but dilation.... Did not.
Ended up begging for an epidural as the pain was so intense and unbearable - I was already incredibly tender from the previous internal exams and rummaging's.

After what felt like an eternity of regular contractions and another eternity of epidural contractions, baby's heart then started dipping for a few seconds at a time.
Which then became more prolonged... And which then became emergency C-section territory.
(This development happened within about 10 minutes of me opening up to my midwives about how terrified I was of c-sections because of my mum's history with them and gangrene etc, being hospitalised with an open wound for months)

Absolutely none of it went even remotely as expected, but after an absolute ordeal of a birth?
We finally welcomed our baby boy into the world!

Introducing baby Bear, weighing in at 7.2lbs, and entering our weird little world at 14:48pm on the 15th of September!

It was a grand total of 25 minutes from the Category 1 Emergency being declared until his arrival via C-Section.

Ended up having 2 surgeries in one, as whilst operating they also found a 3-4cm cyst on one of my ovaries... So that's a fun little extra to the recovery process 😅😩
Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be anything nasty - but for now we're just trying to make the absolute most out of our little baby Bear!

Girls I’ve been so bad at checking on here recently! Our little boy Lennon arrived within 2 hours on Monday! I came into hospital at 8.10pm and immediately started pushing.. he was born vaginally at 8.49pm weighing 8.5lbs 🥰 no time for anything other than gas and air.

Congrats to those who have had their babies already, and for those waiting - you got this! You’ll meet your babies so so soon!

WinsandSam · 18/09/2024 19:00

@Caroline2023 good luck for tomorrow! I'm Friday and the nerves are also starting to kick in. As are the tears 😬

@SpicyMoth my gosh, that sounds a lot and very traumatic for you! That's so invasive for you and too many people. You poor thing. What a speedy arrival for him. Welcome to the world little Bear 🐻 hope you're recovering from your c section ok!

TripleESept24 · 18/09/2024 19:06

Congrats @SpicyMoth and @HRP1990 🥰

Ok so 7 hours post sweep ...... Sorry for TMI...... I just got up from bouncing on my ball and had a sudden GUSH of liquid....... Scared I'd just peed myself.... Came to the toilet (had a pad on from the sweep) pad is saturated and had trickled down my leg a bit. I could not control it at all. It has an ever so slightly yellow tinge but I cannot smell an odour of urine!! And I normally can hold/control my pee! I haven't peed myself like that before!?

What would everyone else do? wait it out a few hours see if anymore comes/anything starts?

malimoon · 18/09/2024 19:12

@TripleESept24 I would call up the midwives and ask for advice. If it's your waters they will want to check in case they need to take any action!

malimoon · 18/09/2024 19:12

@SpicyMoth sorry delivery was so not-ideal but congratulations on the beautiful baby! At least you got through it! Well done

@HRP1990 congratulations on baby's arrival! Sounds like a speedy one!

TripleESept24 · 18/09/2024 19:13

Thanks..... Other half is just cooking dinner, I'll get some food inside me and then call incase they want me to go in!

TripleESept24 · 18/09/2024 19:18

Is there a test or something they do to see if you have leaked fluid?

PinkWatermelon88 · 18/09/2024 19:35

Woohoo @TripleESept24 sounds like your waters went!!! I think in the hosp they can check for it. And in Ireland you have to call them as you’ve 24h before they need to give you antibiotic for infection after they go. Good luck chica you’ve got this ❤️❤️

HRP1990 · 18/09/2024 19:49

TripleESept24 · 18/09/2024 19:18

Is there a test or something they do to see if you have leaked fluid?

Mine went slowly in the night so I went in to be checked in the morning - they can pop a swab in to check for a trace amniotic fluid. Definitely go in and they’ll check the pad for you too

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 18/09/2024 19:51

@SpicyMoth congratulations! Sorry to hear about your labour / birth. Hope you're enjoying all those newborn snuggles now and settling in well!

@HRP1990 congratulations also, manifesting a fast labour for myself like yours 🤣 hope you're enjoying those snuggles! 🥰

@TripleESept24 woohooo how exciting!! I'd give them a call and see what they want you to do. Make sure you've written down the time / took a mental note of what time you think your waters want. They'll either ask you to go in to test, or tell you to stay home and try get some rest tonight and go in tomorrow after a certain amount of time. Are you having contractions?

TripleESept24 · 18/09/2024 19:51

Thanks @HRP1990 @PinkWatermelon88 ...... I'll call them after dinner.

I just had another "trickle" too which actually was very clear! 🤞

TripleESept24 · 18/09/2024 19:52

@BeautyAndTheBump1 it happend just before 7pm..... No contractions at the moment but lower back pain! X

TripleESept24 · 18/09/2024 23:27

Just back from Triage, yes it was waters. Have gone home to try get some rest and see if things start naturally!!

But they'll take me in tomorrow after 24 hours if nothings happened and will have a baby in next 24-48 hours!! 🙌🥰

PinkWatermelon88 · 19/09/2024 01:02

Ah fantastic @TripleESept24 hope things progress nicely for you! I was in triage tonight too, had blood loss which frightened me. But it’s bloody show - I’m in early Labour too! Sent home to sleep through the pains and monitor the blood and contractions. Here we ggooo 💕🫶

kc92 · 19/09/2024 07:43

@SpicyMoth congratulations!! Sorry to hear your labour and delivery didn't go as you would have liked - I know how disappointing that can be - but you should be so proud of bringing that beautiful boy into the world. 💙

@TripleESept24, @PinkWatermelon88 & @Caroline2023 exciting times!! 🎉

WinsandSam · 19/09/2024 08:11

@PinkWatermelon88 @TripleESept24 good luck!! Hopefully babies arrive before the weekend 🥳

Today is officially my last full day being pregnant. I'm in for my c section tomorrow. The nerves are kicking in, as are the tears 😭 feels quite overwhelming. Going to try and distract myself as much as possible today. Early start tomorrow as in hospital for 7am

TripleESept24 · 19/09/2024 10:12

Thanks everyone.....still think she's going to need to be encouraged out over the next few days as contractions haven't started yet like 14/15 hours on....... Hospital will call me within 24 hours to make a plan! But so excited that I should have her in my arms now by the weekend!! 🩷

@WinsandSam try and enjoy your final day!! Eat comforting food and look after yourself 🥰

tierneytarny · 19/09/2024 11:31

Eeek so excited for you all. Baby seems comfy where it is for me. Sweep booked in for next week but so hoping things kick start naturally.

PinkWatermelon88 · 19/09/2024 13:33

Our wonderful little baby girl arrived this morning after just 15 minutes in the Labour ward! She clearly was in a hurry, all 7lb 2oz of her. The pet! We’re doing great - shook to the core 😂 but so grateful and full of love. No name yet ❤️🫶
