Saw we hit page 40, so figured I'd get a head start on the next thread just in case!!

Oh gosh, I just thought, there may not be very many more of these threads - I wonder if this one may even be the last?!

HUGE congrats to @MudandMoet on their gorgeous wee one!!
Best of luck on your way home this afternoon/this evening, I'm desperate to ask all about what it was like but I'll avoid that as I don't want anyone to get nervous/anxious about what's to come!!

Super glad you're feeling mostly okay and so so SO happy for you! <3

@Xur I feel your pain I'm 40+5 and no signs of this baby making an appearance any time soon, all my others were the same (all came closer to 42 weeks) but I was really hoping this one I wouldn't have to be in for the long haul 😣 this is last baby so trying to remind myself to 'enjoy' it but I'm so done with being pregnant now.

BakeOffRewatch · 10/09/2024 08:30

41+0 here today! 🥳

Thanks @kc92 . I got a perineum massage oil in the John Lewis new parent box 4 weeks ago, the instructions began with “set aside 10min and lie on your back” and I gave up there. Last time I used just almond oil. I’ll start today and hope it helps. I’ll ask my midwife about hot cloth at pushing stage too. Do you mean just running it under hot water tap? Or hotter than that?

kc92 · 10/09/2024 08:36

@BakeOffRewatch 🤞 it helps! I think just a warm cloth to help the skin / muscles stretch easier so hot tap should be enough? Not sure if there's any science behind it but one of my friends did it and birthed a 9 & a half lb baby with no tears.

TripleESept24 · 10/09/2024 09:29

Has anyone ever been into triage for INCREASED babies movements?

My god last night whilst trying to go to sleep she was going insane real harsh and jolty kicks and it was so uncomfortable took my breath away at points. I didn't think too much of it, and she's just moving more normally this morning.

However googled it and can be a cause for concern/sign of distress.

I have midwife today for an attempted sweep so will mention it and I'm sure she will check heartbeat etc

They’re actually doing a research study into this at my hospital. They’re looking for volunteers in labour to agree to a second midwife pushing against the perineum to prevent the tearing and seeing if it works. It makes sense to me!

Decaffe · 10/09/2024 09:35

@TripleESept24 Yes I would mention it - I know some websites say it’s absolutely fine but I have also seen some sites say you should mention it.

@Wanderlust86 thinking of you!

TripleESept24 · 10/09/2024 09:52

@Decaffe I will do! Just hoping it's her wriggling her way right down! As she wasn't engaged last week!

BakeOffRewatch · 10/09/2024 10:08

@Decaffe @kc92 just saw midwife, she said I should do perineum massage and starting today is worth it. With the hot cloth, she said they put a swab in warm water against the perineum when baby’s head is crowning. I don’t remember that first time.

Decaffe · 10/09/2024 10:32

I think this is the current c-section list as it stands, sorry I don’t have much to do today and I’m just wishing the days away! Have I missed anyone?!

@Cinai2 14/09 - Sat
@hol92 16/09 - Mon
Me and @RosiePH 17/09 - Tues
@Caroline2023 18/09 - Wed

Edit to add - when are you going in for your pre-ops? DH is wondering whether he should come with me but if it’s anything like my previous surgeries it’s just height, weight, blood pressure and a massive checklist of things like allergies, loose teeth, etc?

BakeOffRewatch · 10/09/2024 10:38

@Decaffe swish list! Add me for induction on 16/09

Xur · 10/09/2024 10:44

@TripleESept24 when I was admitted to hospital last week my baby didn’t like the meds they gave me and the stress so he was so active he kicked off the ctg sensors 3 time in one session. It didn’t record majority of it, the line was part blank (interrupted) but still met the criteria because of the activity. Sometimes they can be really pissed off in there.

😬🫣 I’m next.
My pre-op is on Thursday, happy to report what happens…my DH probably won’t be there.

hol92 · 10/09/2024 11:35

My pre op is Friday and I'm also wondering the same I was just going to go on my own, have never actually had a pre op before so no idea what it involves xx

90malis · 10/09/2024 11:56

Hi Guys,

I've not posted since the earlier days but been keeping track as much as I can.

I'm now 40+4 with two failed sweeps, posterior and closed cervix, little man seems very comfy in there.

Booked in tomorrow for my c section. Had my bloods, swabs etc done yesterday and no eating/drinking from midnight tonight.

Hope you're all doing well 💙

RosiePH · 10/09/2024 12:32

My pre-op will be Sunday. No set time. Apparently I just ring MAU on the Saturday and they tell me when to come in the next day.

I’ve got a little envelope for the blood samples and MRSA swab to take with me. I think they check iron levels in particular.

DH will take me, so really glad it’s on a weekend as he’s a teacher so wouldn’t otherwise have been able. And then I’d need to have found someone else to take me as I’m a bit wary of driving now on insulin as I have to do extra blood sugar checks before driving. It’s a 90 minute round trip too.

WinsandSam · 10/09/2024 12:48

@Decaffe I'm on the 20th for my section 😬 I don't want to be the last as I'm scared! Pre op is this Friday and partner is coming as I'm a wimp and will probably get overwhelmed and cry

@90malis good luck tomorrow! I hope all goes well and the excitement of meeting baby gets you through

TripleESept24 · 10/09/2024 14:22

I have midwife at 3pm and have just come over feeling so exhausted like I can't move and need a nap 😭😴

SpicyMoth · 10/09/2024 16:15

Week 41 today here and still no signs - EXHAUSTED doesn't cover it 😩

OP posts:
Cinai2 · 10/09/2024 16:50

@SpicyMoth Oh poor you! Since I hit 38 + 3 I feel so much more exhausted, I can’t even imagine how I’d feel in 2 weeks. But on the plus side, it’s over now, your baby will just have to make an appearance now. You got this!

Kiwi23 · 10/09/2024 17:23

Had a few pains last night then they stopped started again at 3.40 today and for last 20-30 it’s been constant cramping as one gose down next starts there no gap should I ring

WinsandSam · 10/09/2024 17:23

Had my RSV vaccination yesterday and it's wiped me out. So tired and feel like I'm getting a cold 🤒

Cinai2 · 10/09/2024 17:27

@Kiwi23 I also get these constant cramps…I first started with 30 minutes each night and nothing during the day at 37 weeks, then I had a whole day with several periods of cramping (although not getting more intense or closer together, just constant mild/medium period cramps) last Saturday, but nothing since.

malimoon · 10/09/2024 17:32

@WinsandSam how far along are you? I'm 37+4 and wondering if it's worth trying to get the RSV vaccine at the drop-in clinic tomorrow (also hope you feel better soon!)

Kiwi23 · 10/09/2024 18:04

@Cinai2 mine are getting worse and not going away at all they been come strong for last 40 mins x

WinsandSam · 10/09/2024 19:51

@malimoon I was 38 yesterday and thought it was best to have it. The nurse administering it said it's worth having up to birth as will have benefit through vaccine and then breastfeeding
