Saw we hit page 40, so figured I'd get a head start on the next thread just in case!!

Oh gosh, I just thought, there may not be very many more of these threads - I wonder if this one may even be the last?!

HUGE congrats to @MudandMoet on their gorgeous wee one!!
Best of luck on your way home this afternoon/this evening, I'm desperate to ask all about what it was like but I'll avoid that as I don't want anyone to get nervous/anxious about what's to come!!

Super glad you're feeling mostly okay and so so SO happy for you! <3

Little too much information but I haven't been able to do a number 2 for weeks I'm always constipated but today have been 3 times! Not complaining haha but also read that it's a sign labour could be on the way...
or am I just being hopefully haha

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I last weekend I was going to the toilet alot after having constipation for weeks, also had period like cramps and back ache, was convinced it was the start but it just ended up stopping over night and nothing since 😫 fingers crossed it's different for you but didn't want you to get your hopes up too much, I was so disappointed and frustrated that it wasn't labour. A week later and I'm still bloody pregnant 😅

WinsandSam · 08/09/2024 18:38

@hol92 my bowels have been "looser" for a couple of weeks now. I've also had period pains for about 3 weeks now. Baby hasn't made an appearance yet

@Kiwi23 could be sciatica??

Does anyone know if there’s any guidance on how much colostrum is helpful to harvest before birth? I’m fortunate to be getting quite a lot but I don’t want to end up wasting any so I’m not sure what to aim for.

@Caroline2023 i took 10 syringes to hospital and they used 6 right in the hours after he was born, as me and baby were separated for 4 hours. We used another 2 in the next few days to settle him as my milk took 5 days to come in (C section). I wouldn't think you need more than 6-8, you can harvest some after he's born, the hand expressing was a very useful skill in the early days to give my nipples a small break here and there.

SantasRubiksCube · 08/09/2024 20:14

Not so much a tmi question but more of an odd one maybe? Has anyone else noticed (either before labour or when they were close) a feeling in their vagina, it's kind of like when your feeling a bit turned on and things are kind of..... tingling in there (I'm not describing it very well) I'm hoping it's babies head putting pressure on things down there as a sign he will come soon but I don't remember this feeling with any of my others. He definitely pushes on my cervix alot which can really hurt but he's been doing that for a while 😖

Caroline2023 · 08/09/2024 21:01

Thanks so much @HuggingAnIcePack887, that’s really helpful. I’m going to take a bit of a pause in harvesting for now in that case!

PinkWatermelon88 · 09/09/2024 06:43

38+6 today. Still no signs of any movement from baba to come earth side. I had an induction on #1 and while it wasn’t a negative experience I really do want to try go it myself this time.

and yet I’m so wrecked and exhausted and just want the baby here at this stage. I’m getting a sweep from my midwife at 39+1, which I’ve heard can be more successful on subsequent pregnancies but I’ve heard the opposite too.

ive a loved one in hospice right now too and I’m all over the show. It’s hard now and it’s gonna be hard when baby arrives. Think I’m just a bit fed up xxx

Cat2022 · 09/09/2024 06:59

@PinkWatermelon88 sorry to hear you are going through that. Always tough but with the added anxiety of an imminent baby sending lots of hugs.

I was really fed up last week but have felt a lot more positive over the weekend. I was also induced last time so keen to go spontaneously this time (39+2 today) but a couple of weeks potentially to go hopefully I can keep up some level of positivity.

Wanderlust86 · 09/09/2024 11:11

Congratulations @kc92 🎊

I'm 41+1 today and had an unsuccessful sweep yesterday as cervix was closed. I have another sweep booked for tomorrow and balloon induction booked for Friday 13th if nothing happens before then😳

I started getting cramps/contractions around 2am last night and kept waking up each time I had one. Took paracetamol and started timing them on my contraction app around 8am. App says Braxton hicks but continue to monitor so I'm not sure what's going on. The midwife did say the sweep could cause cramps but these are a lot more intense than a period type cramp.
Fingers crossed she decides to appear before Friday.

Wanderlust86 · 09/09/2024 11:14

@Kiwi23 I've had a numb/altered sensation in my upper right leg for months now. I think it's possibly from a trapped nerve somewhere. I'm hoping it goes back to normal after birth. Could be that?

TripleESept24 · 09/09/2024 11:38

39+3 today! It's due date week!!

@Wanderlust86 I hope your second sweep does something!

I have a sweep booked for tomorrow at 3pm. Also couldn't have one on my 39 week appointment on Friday because babies head was not engaged so they didn't even bother. I'm hoping after lots of ball bouncing, eating dates and sex over the weekend that's changed and tomorrow is successful 🤞🤞🤞

I then have an appointment on the 18th for a second sweep and will be booked for induction then. I really don't want an induction mainly because it's unknown territory. I had my daughter 20 years ago the day before my induction was booked at 13 days overdue. Am hoping this daughter does the same thing and wants out before an induction.......... 🤞

Wanderlust86 · 09/09/2024 12:08

@TripleESept24 yeah I was really hoping to avoid induction too. Hopefully whatever is going on right now is the start of something. Maybe is just Braxton Hicks, it's more painful than I thought they would be though.

Everyone I know who has been induced via the hormone infusion has told me to ask for an epidural first as it can cause hyper stimulation and constant contractions. I'm getting the balloon first apparently but will definitely be asking for some kind of pain relief if they do the drip.

Good luck with your sweep. Hopefully it kicks things off 😊

Kiwi23 · 09/09/2024 12:16

I think it could be it’s not as bad today I was told to lay in the side were it was numb and bring my leg up to my belly to help so fingers crossed it stays at bay now

kc92 · 09/09/2024 14:16

Best of luck to everyone reaching their due dates / planning their inductions & sections. 🥰 Such an exciting time!

@hol92 definitely sounds like things are progressing in the right direction. That started about a week before labour for me, but picked up when I did all the spinning babies moves to engage the head. Not sure if they helped at all or just gave me more peace of mind though.

@Wanderlust86 I think you can ask for different levels of the hormone drip too, if you wanted to trial a low dose? We were looking at a balloon induction if baby boy took much longer. I had hyperstimulation on my first delivery with the induction gel, and I will say the good part is it gets them out double speed. Think the chances of the drip causing it are about 10% but you can ask for it to be adjusted during labour too?

Wanderlust86 · 09/09/2024 15:42

Good to know, thanks @kc92 😊

Wanderlust86 · 09/09/2024 20:18

It's definitely labour. Contractions are getting stronger and more frequent. My contraction app says they are averaging 5 mins apart now. I phoned the hospital and they are happy for me to stay at home while I'm coping. I don't know how much longer I will be coping though.

BakeOffRewatch · 09/09/2024 20:27

Excited for you @Wanderlust86 !

Meanwhile I’m here staring on my third bag of kilogram of Medjool dates.

@PinkWatermelon88 I'm sorry about your loved one. Take care of yourself x

BakeOffRewatch · 09/09/2024 20:30

just a 2nd degree tear. If I didn't have scar tissue from a previous episiotomy the midwives reckon it probably would have been smaller.

@kc92 , I’ve been thinking about this, I had an episiotomy too. Did you do any perineal massage? It’s another one of those things I haven’t bothered with and no one recommended it, but my midwife did say I’d likely tear a little as it’ll be a weak point.

malimoon · 09/09/2024 21:11

Good luck @Wanderlust86 , hope it all goes smoothly!!

Caroline2023 · 09/09/2024 21:12

How exciting @Wanderlust86 good luck!!

TripleESept24 · 09/09/2024 21:16

Good luck @Wanderlust86 💪

hol92 · 09/09/2024 21:36

Good luck @Wanderlust86 😄 😍

I have still had more no.2s today (tmi) but no signs of labour!

SpicyMoth · 09/09/2024 22:13

Best of luck @Wanderlust86 !
Do let us know how it all went when you get a chance and are feeling up to it! <3

Best of luck @Wanderlust86! Exciting night. 💞

@BakeOffRewatch I didn't and in hindsight I should have. My midwife did recommend it but I couldn't reach and I genuinely didn't think he'd be that big or I would have. I think even using a vitamin E rich oil would have helped on the area. Also should have used a hot cloth on the perineum during the pushing stage but I couldn't bare being touched at the time.

Xur · 10/09/2024 07:11

I’m 4 days overdue and had a sweep yesterday 😒 baby still on the inside and no signs of him coming out
