Hi @Ab03 and @Shortcake06 I know how you're feeling as just spent the past week worrying after having my combined tests as 1 in 3. I chose to have NIPT which came back as lower risk which I'm happy to accept. The waiting for the results is a terrible time, keep yourself busy. I read so many different forums which gave me hope but I did accept that the outcome of the NIPT may put us in a position to make a decision. I found by the end of the week I had accepted this.

With regards to the NIPT result this is more accurate than the combined test. My original result was actually 1 in 5 for DS (1 in 500 for Plateaus and Edwards classed as lower risk) but at my booking my midwife had written my weight down incorrect at quite a few kg heavier than I am. When I rang the screening midwife to advise of my correct weight the lab came back with 1 in 3 which kind of to said to me that it is a computer calculation. Sending you all the hope

Had my second attempt at a 12 week scan/combined screening earlier this week. The awkward little sod wouldn't stay still in the right place long enough for the midwife to get the NT measurements.

As it was my second 12 week scan (the first I was at 11w+1d, a bit too early for the screening), it means I can't get the combined screening done at all. The midwife did say that from what she could see, the NT measurements would have been normal, it was just she couldn't get a clear enough still picture for the screening. She also said that typically she'd be able to see if anything was untoward and that everything looked perfectly normal and healthy.

I've been offered the quad test at my 16week midwife appointment, but that only screens for downs, not Edwards or Pataus. The midwife did also say that Edwards and Pataus will be checked for at the 20 week anomaly scan.

Having thought long and hard about it, I decided to get a private NIPT done. I have a few risk factors (older FTM at 36yrs, and high BMI), and I don't think I could wait 6 weeks to find out. It's not just that I'm impatient, it's more that waiting for the 20 week scan would give little time to make any difficult decisions if anything was wrong, and I'd rather know earlier than later.

So now I'm waiting for the test kit to arrive. Blood gets drawn next week and I should have the results back by the end of August.

I know that despite my risk factors, the overwhelming likelihood is that everything is fine (and the midwife at the scan was very confident and reassuring). But it's still the unknown that's bothering me and it's taken a bit off the shine off what has otherwise been a fairly exciting time so far. (I didn't even get a good look at my baby on the scan as the patient's screen was broken, so I only had a skewed view of the midwife's smaller screen. That bummed me out a bit too :( )

Thanks @MaggieS21 for your words. I am trying to get my mind busy to don't think much during the wait. It's next Thursday so I'm starting to feel nervous. More about the after rather the test itself.

@Shortcake06 i had NT of 2.4mm so it was fine but my blood tests came back saying I have a high chance of DS 1/73 (it's not as low as other people in the "room" but for me high enough) I decided to have an Amnio (I was offered a CVS or a NIPT) as i wanted to be 100% sure I had CVS or Amnio. I hope yours goes fine and the results come back amazing. 😊

I’ve only come here to say that it’s been really helpful to have this thread and that I’m very grateful for all of you posting. Keeps me from going mad whilst I’m waiting for my combined screening results! I don’t have Facebook so can’t join the group there so I hope everyone has a nice restful and stress free weekend. I know a few of us may be feeling anxious waiting for screening results or for other reasons x

QuantumPanic · 17/08/2024 07:54

Happy Saturday! I have my sixteen week appointment on Monday. Bloating has returned with a vengeance and by the evenings I look about seven months pregnant. Not sure if I am starting to show or if I'm just a bit rounder in the tummy, but I'm starting to 'feel' a little pregnant. Like I'm conscious of a small weight (which could be either fat or psychosomatic!)

Hi everyone. May seem like a stupid question lol just wanna make sure I do the right thing. I've already had a regular sized iced mocha this morning. However I'm at the cinema later and never go without a blue raspberry ICEE/tango ice blast!! does anybody know the caffeine content of these at all? Cannot find it on any websites

There’s no caffeine in a tango ice blast? So I’d say enjoy it and enjoy the cinema! X

Hi ladies, hope your all doing OK and for those of you waiting for test results sending you all the best!

Does anyone have (or has had) really bad leg aches and pain at night? I've had it every night starting last week. I'm 15 weeks today. I've started sleeping with a pillow between my legs and it helps a bit and have had to take paracetamol. It lasts a few hours into the day then seems to ease up but it's waking me up at night. That and having to go to bathroom at least 5 times.
I've also had bad bloating this week and pain in my side has returned plus some abominable pains here and there. From what I've googled this is all normal, but just wondering if anyone else has it/if any tips on how to manage! Xo

Also totally random but the blood test results from my booking apt from 2 weeks ago only got uploaded to mychart yesterday and I've low glucose and low haemoglobin and haemocrit. Again think that's pretty normal, I'm guessing they'd call if its low enough to mean you need to take more iron etc? Think I've upped my iron intake since then anyway!

elb1504 · 18/08/2024 11:23

@SBelfast I've been getting really bad hip pains at night, sleeping with a pillow between my legs is helping and some days worse than others. I remember it from last time and it definitely gets worse unfortunately! I've been doing some stretches to try and help!

SBelfast · 18/08/2024 11:37

@elb1504 sorry to hear your sore also! Its my hips and knees lol worse on my right side, really hope it doesn't get worse 😅
I'm not doing any stretches will have to start something. Walking seems to help it ease during day.

apple67cherry · 18/08/2024 18:55

@OrangeSlices998 thank you, I did have one and it was lovely!! Big craving for blue slushies lol

I'm 15 weeks today and feel like I MAY have felt the slightest movement. It's my first baby though so not sure what to expect and feel like I have nothing to compare to. It may have been nothing lol. I was on my left side going for a nap and I woke up to feeling what felt like a dragging sensation from my right hip to the centre of my lower belly and it was quite slow. Lasted maybe 4-5 seconds Felt like travelling gas but it wasn't! Has anybody had similar or could this just be in my head lol

Lidlisthebusiness · 18/08/2024 21:38

@apple67cherry it usually feels like bubbles or little pulses, could it be described as that at all? You'll figure out a pattern soon enough and will be able to identify it as it happens 🙂

SBelfast · 19/08/2024 07:04

@Lidlisthebusiness @apple67cherry I'm 15 weeks yday but thought I felt something during last week. But could well have been indigestion/muscle twinges.
Felt like a little muscle twinge like 12 in a row or something and quite quick. I've had loads of stomach discomfort though so probably was that 😅
I'm excited about feeling something but also really anxious for the responsibility of having to identify if movements normal or not that day etc.

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 19/08/2024 12:26

I think that I’ve started to feel something over last couple of days (I’m 15+5)- it just feels like a butterfly in the stomach or yes little pulses @Lidlisthebusiness . I don’t know if I’m imagining it though hahaha

elb1504 · 19/08/2024 14:22

I'm still unsure if I'm imagining my movements but they seem to be in a similar place but so irregular hard to tell but I'd say everyone who thinks they are feeling movements it probably is that!

Redapple21 · 19/08/2024 15:29

I still haven't felt any movement, 15+5, but at my scan the sonographer told me my placenta was at the front (it was at the back in my last pregnancy) and so she said I might not feel movement until around 20 weeks.

My first was 4 days early, you might be lucky!

herewegoagain123456 · 20/08/2024 06:29

Morning, so finally had my NHS scan yesterday and all going well so far.
NT measured 1.7mm so just waiting for results from blood tests.
Due 23rd of Feb.

Have another scan at 16 weeks with a consultant due to my history which is good as was going to pay for a private one.

Sickness is well and truly in the past now so just trying to eat healthy again 🙈
Still weak as hell in the gym but something I need to get used too.

Hope everyone is doing okay 😍

herewegoagain123456 · 20/08/2024 06:32

Where is everyone from btw?

I'm dorset

Lidlisthebusiness · 20/08/2024 10:46

I'm in Cornwall 👋

ridl14 · 20/08/2024 10:49

@herewegoagain123456 I'm due on 20th Feb! Did you have sickness badly? I didn't have HG but the nausea was horrendous esp coupled with food aversions and some vomiting.

I just got travel sickness bands a week or so ago and they've made such a difference! That or it's just the timing. But I've only had one nausea wobble on Sunday and I've been able to eat some food with more flavour (still can't look at most protein though!)

I'm in East Midlands

KittyFantastica · 20/08/2024 11:50

Congrats on the 12 week scan @herewegoagain123456 I had mine last week and still waiting for the blood results, it feels like it's taking forever.

I'm also due 20th Feb @ridl14 I don't think I've seen anyone else with the same due date as me thus far :). It's so lovely to see so many people who will be going through the same thing so close together :).

Not too badly most of the time. Just sick in the morning and then felt sick most of the day, I did have a couple of times where I was violently sick and couldn't keep anything down. But luckily that was rare. Nausea only comes now if I let myself get super hungry. So I just don't. But now I'm heavier than I'd like to be already 🤣
