@retrievermum have you tried to do some exercises for back pain in pregnancy. I tended to suffer lower back pain now and then (due to an old injury I had) and I was afraid that pregnancy would trigger it again in a new monstrous form, I found a physio who had some YouTube videos while she was pregnant with exercises for lower back and so far I haven't suffer more than once (touch wood) for upper back (shoulders) I have a air massage gun recommended by a quiropractor ( https://pulsio.co.uk/products/pulsió-air) and has been one of my crown jewels tbh. Otherwise, try quiropractor (I also used to go for lower back and some of them treat pregnant women after the first trimestre) or physiotherapist. I hope it helps. 🤞

@UrbanSquirrel i had my midwife appointment and turns out I dodged the GD! But they had to take more bloods because one of the tubes they did the other day something was wrong with the label 🤦 but my midwife is very, VERY good at taking bloods and she manage at first attempt. Now, I just have 2 bruises on my arms and two on my hands. I look like a total drug addict lol!
I hope you all can manage the GD and take it easy girls! There are just 3 more months at the we should be back (more or less) to our normal selves (🤞😖🤞)

Pulsio AIR

Unlike any other massage gun, the Pulsio AIR is 50% more powerful, offers a 2-month battery life, an aircraft grade aluminum body, and is in a package no bigger than your phone.

@CarrotySnack and @QuantumPanic I'm not having a monitor either. 5 children down and I've never used one. I did buy one last time as we're in a bigger house, but never actually bothered with it. Baby was either in the same room as us, or if in the bedroom on their own, it's still very easy to hear them and I find I check on them regularly anyway.

My BF had one, she was a far more nervous parent than I am, and it dominated everything she did and so she managed to wean herself off by the time no.2 came along.

Lidlisthebusiness · 21/11/2024 20:55

Random recommendation post;
The Tommee Tippee Anti Colic (with the blue tubes) bottles, and the Matchstick Monkey teether if you spot any offers on either.

UncharteredWaters · 21/11/2024 20:57

Thanks everyone for the wonderful recommendations!

can someone please post the link to the Facebook group?

UrbanSquirrel · 22/11/2024 08:18

Yay @Piluka oh that is good news. Bring on the Spanish Christmas treats! And have a mince pie for me 😜 Brava! 👏🏻

@UncharteredWaters The Facebook group is here: www.facebook.com/share/g/15URaeCELY/?mibextid=K35XfP A good range of other questions / recommendations although I can never match up who is who 😂

About the monitors, we're thinking of post 6 months - obviously won't need it before then, but wonder if there'll be any deals as good as these before then. Due to the design of our house, the nursery will be on a different floor to our bedroom and / or the living rooms, so we won't be able to hear her otherwise. And it'll save me running up and downstairs to check on her all the time 😉

@Lidlisthebusiness Are these the bottles you mean? I've had them on my watchlist for a while but if you rate them I'll take the plunge:

There's also this larger pack but not sure how they compare... 🤔

Another Black Friday spend... reusable wipes. Apparently the reusable ones have a slightly more grippy terry fabric whereas the smooth disposable babywipes tend to just smear everything around. You can also get reusables that are smooth on one side and grippier on the other. But as you said @UrbanSquirrel, oh our poor bank accounts!

Talking of nappies etc - I bumped into a friend the other day and told her I was having a boy, and after a pause she said "just think, you're growing a tiny penis inside of you". I think I'm still laughing.😂😂

retrievermum · 22/11/2024 10:05

@CarrotySnack second reuseable wipes! I don’t use them for her bum but when it came to weaning they were an absolute god-send, we must have saved at least a million pounds using the reuseable ones! I like Cheeky Wipes the best, and the clean/dirty box system makes it sooo easy, would highly recommend (I get them for everyone I know who has a baby, it’s my go to baby shower gift!).

Id also recommend a Tuppence and Crumble Star Suit (I think there’s other brands that do the same thing but the T&C one is my fave); perfect for chucking baby in and they can get in and out of it without waking up! They run quite big (gutted that DD had a medium and I’ll have to get a small for the new baby) so last for ages, but they can wear them in the car seat/carrier as they’re not bulky. No BF deals but worth paying full price IMO!

CarrotySnack · 22/11/2024 10:15

@retrievermum thanks for seconding the reusable wipes - that makes me feel a lot less terrified at the money I just spent. That starsuit looks absolutely great, too!

Lidlisthebusiness · 22/11/2024 11:34

@UrbanSquirrel yes, those are the ones! I've got some on my Amazon wishlist at the moment, just the 3 pack in case I don't need them this time, but still might be worth it.

elb1504 · 22/11/2024 11:34

Also another vote for reusable wipes, we used cheeky wipes and they do wipe so much better than throw away ones!

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 22/11/2024 11:56

So glad to see the Cheeky Wipes recommendations- I just picked some up in their sale! Also got reusable nappies on sale too- we’ll definitely start with disposable but it’s good to have the option.

And thanks for endorsing our double pushchair approach @UrbanSquirrel - we’ll see how it goes haha.

UncharteredWaters · 22/11/2024 15:42

@retrievermum i but the tuppence and crumble for every baby present and are universally loved!

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 22/11/2024 17:40

I managed to get a cheap Tuppence & Crumble suit on Vinted, seems like there’s quite a few floating around!

UrbanSquirrel · 22/11/2024 18:56

Hello team, just to say that I have Thread 4 up and ready to go, as we're nearing the end of this one, and I can well imagine it filling up with more wonderful recommendations!

Mosey on over when you're ready:

Due February 2024 - Thread 4 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/5215577-due-february-2024-thread-4

Apologies for the Boromir meme. I've convinced DH that we have to rewatch the entire extended edition of LOTR this winter, before our peace is irrevocably shattered 😜 (and it'll be some years before MiniSquirrel is old enough for it)

Just to add that I have been a muppet and put 'Feb 2024' in the title of the new thread, not 'Feb 2025', as the eagle-eyed @Cheeseandcrackers123 so brilliantly spotted. I've asked for it to be updated, but just letting you know in case you're searching for it.

🤦🏻‍♀️

Don’t let me distract you from your fascinating Black Friday conversations but as a side discussion:
RSV vaccines. They are new here in France and I think it’s the same in the UK. You are probably offered it there too? Is everyone taking it? I’ll be taking it but just wanted to check what everyone thinks about this. Is it the case there too that if you don’t take it baby takes an antibody jab instead? Anyway for those taking the vaccine it’s after 32 weeks so coming up soon.

Currently I don’t think the baby will be vaccinated at birth if we don’t take it up, but I could be wrong. We recently had RSV and it was hideous, so I’ll be getting the vaccine.

Hi everyone! I've been watching this thread from the beginning, I kept telling myself I'd jump on after 12 weeks but I haven't done so.. until now. I've seen recently a few have been diagnosed with GD, I've just been referred for a test which I need to have tomorrow morning after my fast. Baby has jumped from 50th centile to 81st centile in 3 weeks!! Has anybody else seen such a huge growth spurt before? 😳 I'm currently 29 weeks. I don't have any symptoms of GD, and I had a routine urine test last Thursday with the midwife which didn't flag any glucose. They've said with GD, it would be expected to see increased growth around the abdominal area, however, his growth has increased around the head too (his head looks huge 😂). So he could well just be a big baby.. I'm absolutely shocked at the jump in growth either way. Bit worried about the test but I'm keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Odessa1 · 25/11/2024 17:01

Hi everyone, just checking in with an update. I had my GD test last week which came back as negative, then two days later I was referred for a growth scan as I was measuring under the tenth centile. Thankfully the scan was all OK in the end, baby is at 52nd centile, I just clearly have a tiny bump.

I'm 29+3 and MY GOD, the exhaustion has hit the past few days. It's like being back in the first trimester when I need a nap every half hour!!
