Thank you everyone for your replies and yes it was a bit of a shock haha! Although I think my family members found it more shocking than me 🤣.
@Kumquat89 no way 🫶! it’s nice to see someone in the same boat! I’m exactly the same, I even bought a few dresses and pink bits haha now I need to re-visualise the outfits and make another list of names 🤣. It’s okay though, means I get to do it again ♥️.

@superj21 i also don’t understand percentiles :(. At the scan I was just told everything was in the normal range but nothing about percentiles. I googled and still don’t understand how to find this info but it may just be me being stupid. If anyone could point me out in the direction of a good resource I’d be grateful ♥️

QuantumPanic · 08/10/2024 16:09

@ThisLimeDeer @Kumquat89 what great plot twists! Happy to hear that your babies are doing well. 💙🩷

@ThisLimeDeer at my scan I was given a print out with three graphs on it (there was a little x on each graph for my baby's measurement) but other than that also no information about percentiles. I assume things are done a little differently between trusts; earlier (in this thread?) someone posted a photo of their scan report and it was totally different to what mine looked like.

QuantumPanic · 08/10/2024 16:13

This was my report.

I've had my second cervical length scan and it's shortened below the 25mm threshold so I'm now officially at risk of pre-term labour. Got some progesterone pesseries but does anyone have any experience of this in previous pregnancies?

Gutting thing is I was meant to go on holiday soon which is now a no go, absolutely fine with that but not sure what to do reference rest of family going as my 4 year old will be so disappointed.

UrbanSquirrel · 08/10/2024 18:07

Oh my goodness @ThisLimeDeer and @Kumquat89 what a surprise! A happy surprise of course, because the baby is well and happy whatever, but still a bit of a mental shift. I bet I'm not the only one now thinking, eek, wonder if I should get an extra scan just to be absolutely sure?! 😉

@Piluka So lovely to hear from you and, yes, you are absolutely right, maybe the baby is just asleep most of the time because she's so chilled 😎 Have an amazing time in Spain with your family - your mum is going to be SOOOO excited to go to a scan with you!

UrbanSquirrel · 08/10/2024 18:09

Sheesh @elb1504 I didn't even know that was a thing to think about. Are you feeling OK in yourself? That's really, really rubbish about the holiday though. I'm so sorry for you! And what do they mean by 'pre-term'? Do they just mean 'at some point before 40 weeks' or 'soon-soon'? Sending lots of hugs your way - hopefully all will be absolutely fine in the end. They haven't put you on bed rest or anything like that have they? x

UrbanSquirrel · 08/10/2024 18:11

@QuantumPanic Loving your graph and getting graph envy because I didn't get a report like that either... I've been wondering how they figure out percentiles because I'm not due for any more NHS scans - does it really come down to the midwife measuring your bump and taking a guess? Seems rather unscientific to me... Yet another reason to squeeze in another private one perhaps. As well as making sure that we really ARE expecting a girl 🤣

OP posts:
UrbanSquirrel · 08/10/2024 18:14

Also @retrievermum thank you too for your comforting words. I'm going to ask the midwife to show me the placenta position next week, if she can - and I'll see if I might be able to wrangle an extra scan. Puppy-dog eyes might do it, d'you reckon? 😉 x

It's generally not a thing for anyone to worry about, mines been checked due to EMCS at full dilation which can damage cervix, along with other cervical procedures they keep an eye on it for everyone else it's not normally an issue.

So pre term just means before 37 weeks not anything imminently and hopefully just carry on to full term as normal. I have some progesterone pesseries which will hopefully help.

No I don't have to stop doing anything just 'strenuous exercise' which I wasn't doing anyway haha!

I'm not that fussed by the holiday it was booked before I got pregnant and always knew there was a chance something may come up. It's more deciding what to do if my DH and DS go without me as DS is so excited for it.

Lidlisthebusiness · 08/10/2024 19:45

My best friend was told she was having a girl, her name was Erin, they decorated her nursery, bought personalised blankets, lots of clothes...only for her to be born as Euan! They'd got it completely wrong at all of her scans somehow 🙄

Redapple21 · 08/10/2024 22:13

Oh wow all these scans which have said girls and now changing to boys ... maybe I should hold off buying anything pink! Eek!

So my DS was born at 32 weeks (with no warning and still no known cause - my waters just broke) so I am being seen by the pre term clinic every 2 weeks too - nice in some ways as get lots of scans and reassurance.

I am also on progesterone pressures and at the moment my cervix has been staying at 31mm so hoping that continues. Are they talking about doing a cervical stitch or anything as that can often be the next intervention I think?

Fingers crossed for a DS who decides to cook for a bit longer this time - definitely am starting to get the nerves as the weeks progress ie I’m 21 weeks so theoretically my soon came at the equivalent of 11 weeks away or basically what would be Xmas this year!

ThisLimeDeer · 09/10/2024 07:38

Me and my partner laughed that our little boy will have to be in touch with his feminine side because he has some pink items already that we will still use 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Anything we can’t use that we bought or family gave us like little dresses and leggings etc we will donate to our local women’s refuge so it’s not a waste at all as they will be getting used (I bought our baby a pink coat for example so that’s a bit too much for a boy🤣🤣🤣🤣)

…unless of course at the next scan we are told it’s a girl after all 🤣🤣🤣

Oh I bet that was a shock, I was well over due with DS with no extra checks so feels a bit different this time.

My consultant mentioned stitch but didn't think it was necessary at the moment, as I'm already over 24 weeks and it's only just below the 25mm cut off. Hopefully the pesseries keep it as it is for now. Consultant didn't seem too concerned and I don't have any more length scans booked in just consultant appointment in 4 weeks.

Just hard not to worry isn't it! Fingers crossed they stay put for a while!

Piluka · 09/10/2024 10:51

Wow @ThisLimeDeer and @Kumquat89 what a plot twist. One of my brothers went through the same. Scan week 12, "90% girl" by the sonographer. Week 20, "😅 actually has quite big male bits there" . Same sonographer. He was so excited to have a girl (as he had already a boy) but he wouldn't change him at all now. Because of that I was quite reluctant to fully believe what we were told until the 20 week scan.

Piluka · 09/10/2024 10:58

Btw, this morning when I went to the loo I noticed a very very slightly pink spot when I cleaned myself. I thought that maybe was my imagination as it was very faint. Later on, I noticed same colour, very very faint pink and a tiny amount on the toilet. I'm a little bit concerned. I felt the baby not long ago moving quite nicely so, I guess everything's OK as it's not red and not a big amount. On my panty liner nothing at all. Also this morning I've been being me (silly) and dancing and moving quite vigorously... Maybe that's why? (please don't copy me, I'm not a good example for your health 🤣😂)

Any of you had something like that during the 2nd trimester?

When I was still running I had same thing a couple of times after doing it, only very slight spot of pink. Nothing since then so I assume maybe irritated something with the running so maybe the dancing did it!

superj21 · 08/10/2024 11:52

@apple67cherry how do you find out what percentile they are in? I've been given no info like that...

I was given a report along with my scan at the hospital however I have low Papp A so this scan was a growth scan and making sure blood flow was ok

apple67cherry · 09/10/2024 18:05

Have been really craving this yet didn't realise it doesn't say pasteurized egg for the mayonnaise, would this be safe to eat? From Lidl

I'd think so (I'd eat it anyway) I think in the UK all things like this are made with lion eggs.

Hi ladies, my 20 week scan this afternoon. The sonographer wasn’t able to get all checks done so I have to go back on Monday. There was also a concern the bowel was a bit ‘bright’, so I’ve been referred to a consultant and the also couldn’t check the blood flow so have to have another scan at 28 weeks 😰 feeling a bit overwhelmed! X

Redapple21 · 09/10/2024 21:02

@8weekscrossed ahh bless you. I think it's quite common to have to go back, I had to have a repeat scan as they couldn't take all the pics of the heart due to baby's awkward position, but thankfully I went back 10 days later and all was ok. Scans can cause a lot of anxiety, especially when they don't just say 'yes all is well, off you go!' Hopefully you get all the checks done at the next one and everything is fine xx

8weekscrossed · 09/10/2024 21:04

Thanks @Redapple21, just feel as though time is going to drag now! This is my third so I feel more relaxed than if it was my first, but even so, just want everything to be ok. X

Same here! Couldn’t get images of spine skin, heart or lips.
except they can’t book another skin in the two week timeframe so are going to speak to the consultant.
so stressful - I’ll be thinking about you x
