@Lidlisthebusiness 8lb does seem huge. I think I need to start developing my arm muscles.

I've been really uncomfortable this week. My ribs feel like they're being spread apart (which I guess they are) and it's making sleeping on my side painful. I hope it settles soon, because I'm not managing much sleep.

My first was 9lb 4oz 8yrs ago 🤣 they had to put him in NICU for a week and he looked like a giant next to all the premmies.

Have you got a pregnancy pillow...I got one this week, transformative! I've also been doing pregnancy yoga (only once per week!), but really feeling the benefits in my ribs and hips.

elb1504 · 04/10/2024 11:33

I feel like this week I'm feeling large and uncomfortable already! I agree with @TTCagain85 I do pregnancy pilates once a week and seems to really help, also loads of stretches before bed.

Although I've had hideous cramp when waking up a couple of times in my calf and it aches for ages after so any tips for that would be great!

MrsB2019x · 04/10/2024 20:33

My first was 9lbs 7oz so I’m assuming this one will also be giant 😩 I already look like I did when I was 24 weeks along with my first, I’m only 19 weeks now!

retrievermum · 04/10/2024 20:57

@MrsB2019x did they measure big all the way through? With DD my bump was huge, and all of my growth scans said she was going to be quite large (70th centile at the 20 week scan), but this one was only 30th centile at the 20 week so I’ve convinced myself this one might be somehow smaller (despite having a huge bump!)

Aww yes I feel the same with the ribs! 20+1 today and they feel at times like they're being stretched. I can also feel the skin on my stomach stretching as well so lots of tummy butter!

I've been using a pregnancy pillow for a few weeks and yoga twice a week. But waking up every morning at 4am like clockwork needing the bathroom - and now with a small cold, a very painful dry throat. Then struggling to get back to sleep/crazy dreams before that!

She had what the sonographer described as a “cuddly tummy” at the 20 week scan, I can’t remember the exact centile she was but it was definitely the higher end. My fundal measurement was off the chart at around 28 weeks too.
My 20 week scan with this one is on Thursday so we’ll see what that brings!

Thanks @TTCagain85 ! I will start on the yoga today! 🧡 Sleep is getting worse and worse (I've been unwell too, so that's adding to the discomfort).

I thought I'd get away without a pregnancy pillow, but maybe it's time to reconsider. They're so big and expensive, though!

I got mine on Amazon for about £30 and honestly, best money I've ever spent 😂 it is quite big though, but we've got a big bed so it's not an issue!

Would you consider a secondhand one? They are always being given away on hand me on groups on Facebook.

Guys I had something so embarrassing happen last night (maybe TMI) just wanted to ask in case anyone had had similar.

I was brushing my teeth, about to wash my face after, with a full bladder, and thinking I'd use the loo just before leaving the bathroom for bed. I have a cold atm and had quite a strong coughing fit - then while bent over the sink coughing suddenly leaked some urine twice! 😞 Never happened to me in my conscious life before!

I've been doing kegels but I worry I'm not doing them enough. Planning to tell my GP on Monday, I did also Google and it seems like some incontinence can be normal in pregnancy especially if you cough or sneeze? So unpleasant though. I do also worry I've been weakening my pelvic floor because I'm often really trying to empty my bladder when I'm able to go at work (teacher) as there's limited times I can actually go.

ThisLimeDeer · 06/10/2024 16:08

@ridl14 dont worry you are not alone! It’s happened to me twice when I sneezed!!! It’s embarrassing but i think it’s happened to more pregnant women than we think :)))

could someone please let me know how to join the Facebook group? I didn’t have Facebook before and just made one literally to join that group as I decided I could do with as much mum support as possible.

i have my 20 week scan tomorrow, wish me luck as the anxiety is back (I’ve felt like this before every scan).

elb1504 · 06/10/2024 17:55

@ridl14 I think it's pretty common especially when pregnant as the weight puts pressure on pelvic floor when coughing and sneezing! I'm not sure even with all the kegals in the world will stop it all when pregnant but will help postpartum.

retrievermum · 06/10/2024 18:06

@elb1504 totally normal! To the point where with DD, when my waters went I was sure I had just wet myself a little bit as it had become such a frequent occurrence during pregnancy! Nothing to worry about at all :)

ThisLimeDeer · 06/10/2024 18:16

Thank you@Lidlisthebusiness ! I’ve requested.
in the meantime, I have another question. Has anybody experienced pressure that feels kinda like muscle pain around your lower belly? It started today and only when I’m standing and I’m not sure if it’s normal as I’ve not felt this before and not sure if I should be worried. Little one is also moving a lot more than usual today too if this is at all significant, I’m 19+6 today.

QuantumPanic · 06/10/2024 20:10

@ridl14 I've been weeing when sneezing for the past week. Was also 😦😵‍💫 (especially BC I had no real concerns about my pelvic floor prior) but the internet reassured me it was totally normal and (most likely) transient/would resolve post partum. 🤞

Lidlisthebusiness · 06/10/2024 20:52

@ThisLimeDeer it's just your body adjusting to the baby growing, all your muscles, ligaments etc are all stretching to accommodate, it's nothing to worry about.

I feel very uncomfortable just being - I feel very stretched especially in my lower belly whether I sit or stand. I have a bit of pelvic girdle pain too. And sometimes I have what feels like muscle pain in my lower belly that comes and goes.

I've rationalised that if it comes and goes but I mostly feel fine then it's probably fine. I did speak to my midwife about PGP and if I'd had the other pain at the time I would have mentioned it. Do speak to your midwife for reassurance.

Redapple21 · 06/10/2024 21:46

@ridl14 yes this happened to me last week and I was mortified. Thankfully I was just at home but I went out the next day and bought weak bladder pads as I'm also a teacher and can't cope with the thought of this happening in work! I think it is definitely normal.

I've also started to get a lot of pain in my pubic bone the last week or so, pretty sure it's SPD. I had it in my last pregnancy but I'm sure it was later on. Thankfully it went away as soon as my son was born but it's very uncomfortable at the moment.

Hope everyone is doing ok xx

ThisLimeDeer · 07/10/2024 06:49

Thank you ladies for reassurance, this is really helpful. I will speak to midwife if it persists and I’m still worried.
got our 20 week scan this afternoon as well so will report back later. Happy Monday everyone and as per usual, thank you all for being here answering everyone’s questions, it’s so helpful.

I have my scan today too, terrified. I can feel the kicks but that doesn't mean everything is okay 🙈

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 07/10/2024 06:57

Hello all!
best of luck to those who have scans today, hope all goes great!
got mine tomorrow so understand the nervous feeling!
re pregnancy pillow, I had a dreamgenii last time and it was excellent- need to root it out of loft!

MrsB2019x · 07/10/2024 11:08

Best of luck to those who have scans coming up. Mine is on Thursday and I’m bricking it 😬

UrbanSquirrel · 07/10/2024 11:14

Hello everyone, good luck to those getting scans this week! And I see I missed the conversation about slightly wetting ourselves last week, but I'm very much in the same boat and have been through most of a packet of pantliners 😟 All part of the joy, apparently.

Just reaching out to see if anyone else is in a similar position - I'm 23 weeks today, anterior placenta identified at 20 week scan, and I've still felt absolutely nothing. Nada. Despite the fact the baby looked pretty active at the scan. To be fair, I don't know what I'm looking for, but am pretty confident that the wind-like feelings I've had are indeed wind.

I know there's no need to worry, but worrying is what I do (!). Anyone else experiencing the same? I know I probably don't want to be kicked in the bladder all the time, but it would almost be reassuring if it happened now and then. Midwife check next week so at least she can check the heartbeat then...
