@Piluka Also had my 20 week scan yesterday, lots of checks it takes quite a time and the sonographer had to keep coming back to try and get heart details needed which included tipping me up on the bed to see if baby moved. They did get everything they needed eventually and they do say everything looks normal if it does at the time. There's quite a few quiet moments and sonographer said don't worry if they were quiet just concentrating on getting correct details.

No bloods for me this time either but also had whooping cough vaccine- arm is also so painful today same as @8weekscrossed @retrievermum

Piluka · 11/09/2024 16:51

Thanks for the info @elb1504 at my 12wk scan there were very long quiet moments and I felt very scared. But the sonographer mentioned about being concentrating to get measurements. I was asking mainly to have a rough idea about what to expect.

I'll ask for the vaccines also. I hope they can do it then and there.

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 12/09/2024 04:16

Thanks @Piluka! Hope your 20wk scan goes well.
great to hear those of you that have had yours have had a positive one!
it’s been 5yrs since my last one and I do remember doing jumping jacks in hospital car park trying to get baby to move for sonographer 🤣

Kumquat89 · 12/09/2024 07:49

Good to know about the 20 week scans. Mine is on the 8th of October and it seems so far. I’ll be 22 weeks by then. Are there any other vaccines you guys get done there in the UK other than the whooping cough during pregnancy?

I am passing by the GP today (for a swollen spider bite of all things 🙄) and I’m planning to ask him about the vaccines since I’m there.

TTCagain85 · 12/09/2024 08:59

You should get flu vaccine in October time and then there is a new RSV vaccine you can get from 28wks....which is great considering our babies are all due in Feb when nasty respiratory illnesses are ripe!

Just had to bite the bullet and buy the next size up in knickers haha. Bump is really bumping the past week!

Mamma173738 · 12/09/2024 10:26

My bump has really bumped up in the last few weeks too. It's really cold here and the zip is starting to look a bit strained over the layers.

What are people doing for winter coats? I'm thinking of getting a secondhand maternity coat with an extendable bit that can also be worn over a carrier. But would rather have a non maternity option if possible!

I've been thinking about what to do with coats too, think I might just stick with what I've got and have to have it open with a big scarf or something! I think I've read you can get zip in panels to use with existing coats?!

A coat that zips over baby carrier is a great thing also though, I had a bigger size last time and was great.

@retrievermum i missed your reply. So sorry. Do they check the heart chambers as well? That's cool! My mum is very impressed about how many things they checked nowadays. She didn't had any scan when she got me.

I know in the Amnio they checked for abnormalities in heart as it's part of DS (not always but most of them have this issue) and so far nothing wrong but we'll see in the next scan. Many thanks for your reply! 😊♥️

@Mamma173738 & @elb1504 there's this as Elb was mentioning https://makemybellyfit.com/products/universal-jacket-extender. Around £80

Hi all,
Sorry I haven’t posted much, we’ve been pretty quiet about this pregnancy!
Can I ask for some advice?

16 weeks yesterday and suddenly had red PV blood on wiping last night. Ended up in antenatal ward, speculum showed a closed cervix and old blood.
Scan today was okay, happy moving baby with no issues. Again no cause for the bleeding.

Reassured by that but no one knows why I’m bleeding. It’s still there, light and red on tissue but darker than fresh blood in general. Otherwise I feel well.

Anyone had similar that came on this late and have any causes?

Kumquat89 · 12/09/2024 20:58

It sounds like a lot of us will be doing some serious shopping this weekend. 😅 My trousers officially stopped buttoning.

Irrelevant but does anyone else have to do the toxoplasmosis and rubella blood test every month? So many tests. Doesn’t help with relaxing and enjoying the moment.

Redapple21 · 12/09/2024 21:31

I would advise anyone to have a look on Vinted for a maternity winter coat, lots of bargains on there. I did see a few of those inserts people have mentioned too. One from jojo maman Bebe for only £5. Worth a look.

I'm 19 weeks and still not feeling movements. I know I have a front placenta but I feel like it's really playing on my mind a lot now. Can't wait to feel something.

superj21 · 12/09/2024 21:49

@Mamma173738 I was gifted a Mamalila parka for my birthday, it has side zip bits to expand for bump and then front and rear inserts for baby wearing. It would also work for non maternity with the side extenders zipped up. It's lovely and cosy!

Mamma173738 · 13/09/2024 18:30

I had my abnormalities scan today at 19w and everything looks good. I had a lovely sonographer. Baby was moving a lot and what was amazing was that I could feel the movement at the same time, kind of a rolling movement feeling! Its nice to know that what I thought was a grumble in my stomach or food and water moving around was actually the baby! It was a pleasant surprise because I have an anterior placenta so I wasn't expecting to feel anything for another month or two, but it's high anterior so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Looking at all the measurements the baby is mostly average apart from the abdominal circumference which on the very high side of normal. This is very similar to my first who was in the normal range for everything apart from his tummy which was off the scale. 😅

ridl14 · 13/09/2024 23:02

Hi everyone! We just had a gender scan at window to the womb (17 weeks) and confirmed we're having a little boy! Buzzing 🤗 it's funny, I really felt it was a boy since the beginning as did most of our friends/family (DH's initial preference was girl but we were both so excited about either and we've spent a lot longer visualising a boy now!)

Apparently I have an anterior placenta and baby was really active. Most importantly the sonographer said everything looked good health-wise with his head, heart, stomach and the placenta and umbilical cord. Since I stopped feeling nauseous and sick about a month ago it's been worrying me a lot whether everything was okay because I suddenly felt better! So a huge, huge relief.

(My niece is disappointed though, she wanted the baby to be a girl and to name her 😂 she's almost 5)

QuantumPanic · 14/09/2024 07:26

@Mamma173738 My baby's abdominal circumference was also on the higher side of normal. Sonographer said it wasn't anything to worry about. 🤞

Interestingly, sometimes I could feel it when the baby was moving on the ultrasound and sometimes not. The baby did an almost 360 flip and I could not feel it at all, but I could feel some of the smaller yoga movements.

Cheerspaul · 14/09/2024 15:02

Can I join? I’m due on the 1st so am 20 weeks today. I had my scan on Thursday and we’re having a boy 💙. We didn’t want to tell our families until after the scan so we are planning on telling everyone tomorrow.

superj21 · 16/09/2024 10:51

Welcome @Cheerspaul and congratulations 😊! We're having a boy too 💙 luckily he's got lots of older nephews to get their hand me downs and to save us a fortune !

retrievermum · 16/09/2024 22:07

@Cheerspaul due date twins! Hope you’re doing okay :) congratulations on expecting a boy! How did telling everyone go?

herewegoagain123456 · 17/09/2024 06:18

Morning guys, had my scan with the consultant yesterday where he checked a lot of things but only 17 weeks so didn't check it all.
He did see a dark space by the abdomen that he wants to re scan me for but said it had a blood supply so might be the spleen. A little worried now, but trying not to fret as nothing I can do.

Sickness seems to be making an appearance again....anyone else?

@herewegoagain123456 hopefully it's just that babe is a little small for them to tell and you get the bonus of getting to see them again at another scan 😊

I've been feeling sick on and off since Sunday but thought it was just being tired after a busy weekend. I wasn't expecting the morning sickness to come back 🤦‍♀️ not sure I can cope with that!

MyHappyNewt · 17/09/2024 09:29

@herewegoagain123456 I’m still struggling with morning sickness at 19 weeks! Hoping it will go soon as it did with my first around this time 😬

KittyFantastica · 17/09/2024 12:00

Hi all, just dropping in to say hope all is going well.

It's hard to keep up with the thread these days, but I drop in every now and then. Nothing new to report here, still waiting for my 20 week scan, which isn't until 8th October. It still feels miles away!

We're not finding out what we're having, so it just feels like such a long wait, it I love hearing about others finding out :).

herewegoagain123456 · 17/09/2024 12:46

Yea mines not as often as first trimester but all of a sudden have been sick 3 mornings this week. Hopefully it doesn't continue.

Just got back from turkey and the extra food has not done me any favours. So having to get some Maternity leggings but there all for massive bumps. No in between 🤷🏽‍♀️
