@ExpectoMumPatronum welcome! You’re very close to my due date on 5th Feb 😊

I got some Adidas maternity leggings which I’m LOVING. Nice thick cotton. They’re slightly too big but not actually falling down, so think that’s about right for this stage haha

herewegoagain123456 · 29/08/2024 07:03

Finally had my screening results...
Edwards and pataus- 1 in 20000
Downs -1 in 8762
So pretty happy with that.

I've just been on a holiday and put on a fair bit of weight. So need to try and shift that so I'm not a blob as that's what I feel like 🤣

I have not brought a single item. Still all feels very unreal.
Got a scan at 16 weeks with consultants so might buy something after then

@SBelfast I'm with you. The jojo mama stuff is so lovely.
I picked some bits up off vinted too.

I can't believe I'm only 17 weeks and I've bought my double pram 😂

Anyone else looking to invest in a double? What have you gone for?

And as a tip, if anyone's planning to try and have baby 2 quickly after baby one, please buy a double pushchair now. I really do regret not buying this cybex gazelle. We would have saved a tonne of money as bought the Venicci tinum upline new from the baby show last year

We had a Bugabooo Donkey for 2 and 3 who were 15m apart, which then saw me through 4 and 5 too. I only sold it on earlier this year, if only I'd have known, I'd have kept it for 6 as well! I was kind of hoping to get away without a pushchair this time, and just use a sling, though I'm not sure if that's realistic or not.

Hi ladies, I’ve just been catching up. How is everyone doing?

I haven’t bought anything either @herewegoagain123456, I am also waiting for our 16 week private scan and may then buy something.

when is everyone thinking of starting Mat leave? X

As late as possible, I have my own business in beauty so have the flexibility of doing just a few hours each day at the end

QuantumPanic · 29/08/2024 13:31

@Lidlisthebusiness We're planning on just a carrier/no pram at the moment. We live in a hilly/stair filled place (even our house is set away from the road by two flights of stairs) so not sure how much use we'd get out of a pram.

I’m tentatively thinking 2 weeks before due date, but I’m lucky enough to be able to work from home a lot so planning to do that fully after Christmas tbh.

How long is everyone thinking of taking off for mat leave overall? I’ve been really struggling with that decision!

Piluka · 29/08/2024 14:03

@UrbanSquirrel @Redapple21 @Hopefully2ndtimemummy i went today to my 2nd attempt to Amnio and it was a success. My "Jack the Ripper meet and greet" was fine. The sonographer and midwife were the same ones and made it very easy. The baby was I a very good position and in 20 min we were out. Both of them had been amazing (last time they were, too) and made me laugh a lot this time.

Yesterday, I was stretching my back with a yoga position and I unexpectedly sneezed and suddenly after I felt the most horrible pain on the side the baby is located (on my right side I have a orange size fibroid hanging from the outside of the uterus. So, the baby is on my left) and I panicked because my mind was telling me I killed the baby. My partner was just laughing at me saying 'how would you kill a baby with a sneeze' then I realised it was absurd but this morning I asked them about it and the sonographer showed me the baby was alive and had a heartbeat. She's been absoluty kind and lovely and reassured me that the baby was fine. She also mentioned that the baby's heart sounds normal (sometimes T21 babies tend to have abnormal hearts with not quite right heart beats) but until the results come back I don't want to have hopes. I guess Monday the latest I can update you with the results. 🤞🤞

UrbanSquirrel · 29/08/2024 14:06

@Piluka That's really encouraging! I'm so glad they all looked after you well, and again very reassuring about the heart beat. So now we wait and keep our fingers crossed for the result! Piluka, I really admire how you're dealing with this. You have exactly the right approach, taking it one day at a time and finding the funny side of things where you can. Brava 🤗 xxx

@Piluka so glad today was a success! Sounds like the staff were really lovely too. Everything crossed for good news for you very soon xx

UrbanSquirrel · 29/08/2024 14:13

@Lidlisthebusiness Belated congrats on the screening results! That's really good news 🤗

@5431go Just reading about your riding and the fact that Mary King was still competing at five months - I was reading yesterday that one of the Paralympic archers is seven months pregnant, which is making me feel extremely guilty about my epic laziness at present 😂

Just to throw my tuppence-worth into the maternity leggings debate, I managed to get a couple of pairs of Frugi roll top leggings in the John Lewis sale a few weeks ago and they are soooo comfy. They do bobble a bit on the inner thigh, but this may not be a problem for those (most of you, I suspect) who have svelter legs than I do... And the waistband is lovely - very welcome now that normal trousers are just feeling a bit too tight.

I'm going off at 32 weeks as I'm a childminder and I already had my Christmas break booked in.
It made more sense just to go off then instead of going back after Christmas as you never know when baby will decide to arrive.
I'm only able to have a short time off, so will be starting back after the Easter holidays. Making it easier with regards to funding as I just won't claim for the term.

It does mean that if baby does come on time, they will only be 10 weeks when I'm due to start back.

But I can't afford to have much off.

I've also not bought anything yet, this baby was a complete surprise (baby no4) still hard to believe that we are actually having another.

I'm wanting an early gender scan but trying to twist Daddy's arm as it costs money but then I can get a little bit more prepared.

@piluka all the best with the results x

I will hopefully have about 2 weeks of annual leave left so my plan is to use that first to take me close to due date as possible and then start mat leave.

Planning to take the year as I can spread my OMP across 46 weeks (with savings to top up) and then just use annual leave again at the end.

Lidlisthebusiness · 29/08/2024 20:59

@QuantumPanic yes, similar in that we live in a very hilly place, and I'm not pushing anything up them! At the moment, I can't think of a scenario where I'll need one, apart from maybe a trip to a shopping centre as somewhere to put anything we buy, but that would be a rarity!

Hello 👋 - I am jumping into this thread, I'm almost 17 weeks, due 6 Feb. I've been on the Reddit Feb 2025 Bumps group for a while, but it is so American 😂 I need some British perspective sometimes!

And mostly I need some maternity leggings recommendations... H&M were ok but have now ripped and are also too saggy and see through. Lovall and M&S activewear ones are already too tight. Any suggestions?

Also, anyone else suffering with super itchy nipples recently? I'm scared to use a hot/cold nipple pad incase it brings on colostrum 🙈

Oh my god yes, my nipples have been so Itchy!! I haven't really found much that helps but I'm definitely suffering with this too

retrievermum · 30/08/2024 19:12

Is anyone else still breastfeeding an older baby/toddler? DD is 15 months and we’re still feeding a few times a day but the last few days have been AGONY! I know supply can drop around now (I’m 18 weeks tomorrow) but she’s not dry nursing (got the pump out to check) so I’m not sure why it’s suddenly so painful?!

Piluka · 31/08/2024 07:28

@UrbanSquirrel @Redapple21 @Hopefully2ndtimemummy @MinionMumto3nearly4 I got Amnio results yesterday. Everything's fine!!!! The baby is fine. I've never been so happy about hearing "normal result". Honestly, it relieved us so much. I felt the burden out of me. We've been told family and some friends about the pregnancy as most of them didn't know (we didn't want to say it until this test came "clear") it worth my suffering with Jack to be a colandermum. 😁 Btw, the baby ended upside down on the first Amnio attempt with all the bum exposed (I think it was a sing to the sonographer about baby's opinion of being pierced) and the sonographer could told us the sex. It's a girl!!! (so far, you know how it works sometimes) we are over the moon. I hope she's not going to show her bum so easily once she's out.... 😅 Hahaha

Thanks girls for your support it helped, honestly. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

UrbanSquirrel · 31/08/2024 07:30

@Piluka 🎉🥳🎊 Oh that's fantastic news! What a pleasure to wake up to that. And another little girl for our group! Brilliant stuff. Well done and congratulations. I'm so happy for you!!! 🤗 xxx

Absolutely love reading this, so happy for you. Now you can enjoy your pregnancy and get ready for your little girl to arrive.

We have a gender scan booked today. I'm thinking boy, which will make 3 boys and 1 girl. My daughter would like a girl to even things out but I'm really not thinking girl

So happy for you all. Stay well and I'll look forward to your updates xx
