So we’ve been TTC baby #2 for 5 months. Had a positive test in April that sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy. So this is cycle 3 since then and got a very faint positive on an internet cheapie last night at 9dpo. I went out and bout a CB digital today and have got my BFP confirmed today on it 😊
My EDD is 4th April 2025 going from LMP and cycle length.
I’m aware it’s very early days and anything can happen that’s why I’ve decided not to tell anyone I know until after my period is due which is Friday. Just can’t keep it to myself and would love for others to join and talk to who have recently found out they are expecting in April 2025!

How long did it take for your baby to latch?

Did you have to use nipple shields? Also did you pump and just keep trying to bf between/before the formula bottles?

I have pretty much flat nipples. If I’m cold the slightest bump but otherwise they look flat/non existent. I tried to bf DS but we were also at a disadvantage because he was born at 35 weeks, low blood sugar, sleepy all the time and tube fed for the first 7-8 days. I tried bf but he was clueless and I was clueless. I pumped for 6 weeks while attempting to bf each time before offering a bottle but we got no where and eventually I was at a low point and we just switched to formula.

My hope is for a full term baby this time (currently 33+5) and that the baby will know what to do, however after last time I’m under no illusions that it will work like that. I’m trying to prepare as much as possible because I would like it to work but equally ok if it doesn’t work out. I have a healthy happy toddler.

Often with the 2nd your milk will come in quicker as your body has done it before and the first baby has laid some of the groundwork, my 2nd didnt even drop her birthweight

There was 11 between my 1st and 2nd! There will be just 2 years between 2 and 3 when it decides to make an appearance

Same age gaps as me! Hoping the closer age gap this time will mean a quick as and easy birth! It’s due date today for me, I get braxton hicks every night but then everything calms down by the morning 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes same here!! This will be a totally new experience! Although I’m lucky my now 14 year old is very helpful with our toddler.

Congratulations @Lcw29 and @Oxforddictionary12 on the safe arrival of your little ones! Our daughter was born on Saturday morning (via assisted delivery following a very long early labour). Just about survived night one at home!

Lcw29 · 07/04/2025 07:07

Congratulations @hopeful4us long labors are hard so I fully sympathise!

I'm hoping we can go soon. Rose is out of neo natal so we're in a transition ward. Trying to breastfeed but topping with formula while I pump. I'm getting milk but when she's on boob it's agony!! So not sure what to do yet. I'm at least giving her what a pump ATM

You’re doing fantastically! I keep reminding myself we are only a few days in, you don’t know how it will unfold. Currently DD will latch on the left breast but not the right (I’m hand-expressing it to give me some relief) - got home midwife appointment tomorrow so hoping they’ll have some advice.

Planned section in 9 days. Is there an April babies Facebook group?

Congratulations to you too! Well done. That sounds tough. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

First day at home and it's been nice to be with our boys. Midwife came and found Rose has a tongue tie so that's why latching us so hard and sore. She's referring us. Also she's still a little jaundice but that should pass.

I'm feeling a little sick this evening. Could this be all the pain meds? Also still a bit constipated urghh

hopeful4us · 08/04/2025 22:39

@Lcw29 glad to hear you’re home and that you’ve had a referral for tongue tie - at least you’ve found out early and can get it sorted! We also had our home visit today and the midwife was so helpful giving advice on different feeding positions which has helped the latch on my right breast. Sorry to hear you’re feeling sick - any chance you’ve not eaten/drunk enough today? I felt woozy and then realised I just hadn’t had the calories I need to maintain cluster feeding.

Lcw29 · 13/04/2025 11:02

How's everyone doing? Rose is 9 days old and doing well. Still undecided about whether to have her tongue tie cut. We are on the list so if we do it will be before she's 6 weeks. Just nervous about putting her through it. But she does get so tired on the breast. Still having a formula top up each feed.

I’ve had two friends recently who have had daughters with tongue tie. One had hers snipped quite early on as you mentioned and the other ended up going private because they knew something wasn’t right but I think she was a bit older. I think if you have noticed something then it’s better to get it sorted now while she’s only young and it’s on the NHS. Hopefully you’ll notice a difference with her feed afterwards too?

I’ve now got my c section date for 24th eek. Pre op on 22nd so just over a week to go unless he decides to make an early appearance! I finished work on Friday so I’m hoping the winding down from that doesn’t have him decide he’s ready 😂😅

Allswellthatendswelll · 13/04/2025 15:01

My c section is on Tuesday. I can't wait although feeling a bit emotional it's the last time where its just DS!

Congratulations to you! My friend had her daughters tongue tie cut and it appeared to help, but it’s entirely your decision.

I’m 39+1 now and just waiting for labour to start 😅 I’ve had a couple of little period like cramps but other than that there’s absolutely no sign that baby is coming any time soon which is making me a bit nervous. I’m trying to avoid interventions as much as possible.

How are you finding postpartum so far?

Lcw29 · 13/04/2025 15:15

Not long for you guys now! How exciting.

I've been ok. Taking each day as it comes. I'm tired obviously but trying to be gentle on myself. I'm so glad she's finally out though! Was becoming so uncomfortable lol

Hopefully not long now at all!

I’m glad you’re ok - definitely be gentle on yourself and try and sleep when you can.

I hear you - I am SO uncomfortable now, I’ve had an amazing pregnancy but everything hurts at this point lol

Thankyou. I’m ok, I haven’t stood up yet though, and DH has left now because we have a toddler at home. Freya had two feeds earlier but has since just become sleepy and hasn’t taken another feed yet. She’s also now got a low temp so hoping it will rise by being on me.

Blue2020 · 15/04/2025 04:54

How long has it taken any of you for your milk to come through?

I have only done four feeds so far (well one was broken into multiple stages) but when she attaches to the left side it’s quite painful, more than the right side. Plus both sides have a streak of red on the nipple. A cut/crack? Has anyone else had this?

I feel like it’s a bad latch on the left side, but she attaches similar both sides, and it looks ok. When I try to hand express nothing comes out either.

Badassbreastfeeder85 · 15/04/2025 07:05

41+6 and so signs of labour yet 🤣 my 2nd is 23 months so thought I wouldn't be too late this time

Whenyoupickapawpaw · 15/04/2025 08:24

Congratulations to everyone who has had their babies so far 🎉💜💚 I'm 41w with my first and no signs of labour yet. Getting restless and uncomfortable x

It took about 4 days for milk to come in for me. I've not had a great supply as little one has tongue tie . It's only just started to increase after I saw a feeding consultant. But I'm hoping it will get easier when Rose has her tie snipped in a few weeks.
She also prefers one side to the other lol

I'm also suffering with sore nipples. So I fully sympathise!

I would ask the midwife for advice. Mine has been really helpful. Are you still in hospital? Either way I found everyone overall was willing to help where I needed it. I'm still a bit clumsy getting her on the boob . 🤣

Lcw29 · 15/04/2025 08:57

To those not yet popped, I feel you! It's horrible waiting! I was 9 days late with my first and it's like time slows down. Wishing you all the best and hopefully your bubba's will arrive soon.
