So we’ve been TTC baby #2 for 5 months. Had a positive test in April that sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy. So this is cycle 3 since then and got a very faint positive on an internet cheapie last night at 9dpo. I went out and bout a CB digital today and have got my BFP confirmed today on it 😊
My EDD is 4th April 2025 going from LMP and cycle length.
I’m aware it’s very early days and anything can happen that’s why I’ve decided not to tell anyone I know until after my period is due which is Friday. Just can’t keep it to myself and would love for others to join and talk to who have recently found out they are expecting in April 2025!

@Blue2020 the silver nipple cups are a life saver, but you do need to express a bit of milk into the cup before putting it on the nip. Second best is lanolin cream. Get either asap before the nips get any worse!

I had my little girl (3.318kg) yesterday in a lovely calm ELCS. Recovery seems a little slower than last time but manageable. I'm knackered as she was cluster feeding all night but so happy she is here and I'm no longer pregnant!

Hope all the second half of the month babies don't keep you waiting too long.

Huge congratulations to you! Hoping your recovery is smooth and you do get some good quality sleep even if it’s little and often 🥰

Still waiting for our girl with no signs of labour being close at all at 39+4 for me! I’m hoping for next week… 🤞🏻

I have just ordered the silver cups, I have the cream but it’s really thick and doesn’t really go onto my nipple that well. I use the medela shells yesterday and this morning to have a bit of relief and it caught some milk too.

Im a bit worried now that my baby isn’t on my boobs enough? She goes on for 10-20minutes then goes about 3hrs sleeping. My milk started to come in yesterday, and she’s so far not clusterfed, well between midnight-2am is more frequent eg on and off about 3-4 times.

Will I just lose my supply if it stays as this pattern? Should I pump after a bf? I exclusively pumped last time so I know in 20 minutes I can get a few ounces from each breast every 3hrs, sometimes my baby only feeds from one breast so one can go 5+ hrs between feeds. I do try both but she’s just finished by the time I move her over. Sometimes I don’t try both just due to soreness and having a break to let them heal.

I will post this on the infant feeding too but wondered if anyone has come across this yet? And what you are doing?

Hi all, I finally had my daughter on the 11th April after a harrowing nine months. 17 months ago my twin sons died. It was totally unexpected. My first angel was born sleeping and 4 days later his brother passed away in our arms in the NICU after we had to let him go. Its been an emotional few days since we had our little girl. She's the image of her brothers and we've cried happy and sad tears. The grief journey still continues but so happy to have our little star with us finally.

Omg congratulations! Well done for getting through what must have been such a hard pregnancy and enjoy the cuddles.

Is she producing poos and wees regularly?
You could wake her up by changing her nappy before a feed if she's sleepy.

Best of luck with the cut tomorrow, and I really hope it's helpful for you both for feeding 💕.

Would you mind explaining how you went about getting the tongue tie appointment? My little girl is 9 days old now and midwives have commented on the tongue tie but most have said it's minor. Despite this, we're still struggling to latch, I'm having nipple pain and she's getting milk blisters and tiring out loads between feeds! We're in Wales so I think we'd have to go private for the cut, but would be great to hear your experience☺️

Thank you. I'll update how it goes.

We got referred through the midwife to a feeding consultant who advised on latch, positions, gave tips. she explained that they decide on whether to cut based on different factors. So if mum is suffering alot with pain when feeding, weight problems in the baby, baby struggling with most of the feeds even when bottle fed etc... for us I've struggled with latch and she falls asleep easily on the breast but is still really hungry. I've had to top up with formula after every feed. She also dribbles alot. My other son had a slight tongue tie which never got treated as it was COVID. He was a nightmare feeder and had terrible reflux because of it too. Definitely worth getting a second opinion if you can. Especially if your little one isn't settling.

Thanks so much, really helpful to know! We've got an appointment with our specialist feeding midwife today so hopefully that'll be a good first step to knowing whether it needs sorting.

Sending good vibes for today to you 💕

Ah good luck today. My baby just got her tongue tie cut on Monday. It sounds scarier than it is. Hopefully they have explained the process to you, if not they will before doing the division/cut. The midwife told me the baby won’t be in any pain, it’s a cut then pressure applied and then a breastfeed straight away to help them feed.

I got to the point on Sunday where each feed has been incredibly painful, that I ended up taking the dihydrocodiene prescribed for the csection alongside the paracetamol and ibuprofen, just to take the pain away from bf. So the midwife asked me to come in a bit sooner rather than prolonging it.

It’s odd how much it varies, the doctor on discharge said it’s a mild tongue tie that won’t affect feeding. The midwife the next day said it was actually a tight tongue tie. Then the person who did the tongue tie cut showed me that she couldn’t stick her tongue out or even lift it to the top of her roof. That she has been using her gums to feed, which is what it’s felt like for the week.

Now I still have some pain but it’s improved and I still have damaged nipples to heal. I also notice if I get the position/latch right then that helps a lot. However I also noticed if she’s eager then it’s more painful compared to sleepy feeds, or if I’m too full then it’s a bit more painful.

I will add as well that before the tongue tie cut she would feed for 10-15 minutes maximum and usually start to fall asleep by 6-7minutes in, and slow down considerably. Now she can feed for a bit longer, 15-30 minutes and she’s swallowing more milk. To the point she burps most times now, and last night she was sick on me for the first time.

Blue2020 · 23/04/2025 08:07

@Ella31 congratulations on the birth of your little girl.

Lcw29 · 23/04/2025 15:29

Little girl had her tongue tie cut. She actually fell back to sleep afterwards. Only cried a little bit then was fine. Very relieved!

Blue2020 · 24/04/2025 14:37

@Lcw29 glad to hear that.

Was your feeding painful before the cut? Or was it just picked up routinely/poor latch/weight?

Im finding bf going a lot better now post tongue tie. It’s only painful for the first 10-15 seconds most of the feeds. The odd one is a bit more painful and my nipples are still very sore so there is healing to do.

Yes I was getting pain . But more than anything she just was too tired to feed properly. She's now sticking out her tongue alot more haha she managed a 15 minute feed this morning which is the longest she's had so hopefully will continue to improve

No, I only used mam bottles with my son. Will likely try to introduce mam again with this little one in a few weeks time so she knows what they are and hopefully won’t reject them down the road.

Could it be the teat size? How quickly does your baby drink the bottle? I think in the early days falling asleep is usual. If they are only taking a few mls and you are concerned let your midwife/HV know and they might have suggestions for you. One thing I do with this little one (and with DS when he was a baby) is to change the nappy first, it usually wakes them up enough to be hungry and search for food. Enough hopefully to take some of the milk. A sleepy baby can be normal and possibly not the bottle itself but that it’s just hard work for them to be awake in the early days/weeks. That said again if you are concerned then let your midwife know.

Is anyone else still waiting? I’m 41 weeks now and been trying everything to induce labour but it just isn’t happening yet. Getting very tired of all of the messages from people and feeling a bit like my body isn’t working. I think it’s likely I’ll end up with an induction at this point, which I really didn’t want.

Hope you’re all doing well!

Same here, I’m 40+3 today. I have a MW appointment this morning so I’m hoping I’m ‘ready’ for a membrane sweep to try to get stuff moving. But beyond Braxton hicks and lighting crotch, both of which I’ve had for weeks, I have zero other symptoms. I keep getting messages from people as well which is getting a bit annoying!

I’m getting increasingly anxious that stuff isn’t OK and I’m over paranoid about placenta insufficiency, I’m pregnant via IVF so there is some evidence of increased risk. Im going to try to push for a monitoring scan early next week but not sure they will give me one.

Hopefully it’s a good weekend for us!

Blue2020 · 27/04/2025 07:41

Hopefully labour will happen for you both soon. Good luck for the next week.
