Anyone else due January 2025?

I’m coming up to 16 weeks with my second. This time seems to be flying by as life is much busier with a nearly 2 year old!

Luckily, felt pretty much fine the whole way through so far, albeit being tired. However, I was diagnosed with GD and currently diet controlled, which is bit of a bummer.

How are you feeling?

Where abouts are you feeling baby movement -if you have started to feel it. I feel it on lower tummy below belly button or above pubic bone and it scares me that y is it low

MrsNT · 05/09/2024 00:05

Also I have a recurring UTI that refuses to get better. Had 2 weeks of 2 different antibiotics that led to painful thrush. Had thrush treatment only to find out UTI hasn't gone 😩😩😩😩
Anyone in same situation???

This is totally normal at this stage! You should be able to feel the top of your uterus and it will currently be around your belly button. Kicks will feel higher up once the baby gets bigger.

Most of my kicks are around my belly button too. Sometimes lower as I’m guessing they are feet down.

@92Char I’ve got two pairs from H&M and they aren’t too bad. I quite enjoy having the over belly band but I know some struggle with it.

They never seem to be great styles of maternity jeans though!

I have anterior placenta and I can feel things on the side of my belly or very low at the pubic bone area. If the scrapings and taps i am feeling are movements, but I am more and more convinced they are.

Also the uterus is pressing on my bladder, so I find it difficult to wee from the beginning to be honest(at the start it was because of the large ovaries), but it helps if I bend forward.

ChirpyTurtle · 05/09/2024 09:57

Thanks for the update @Sarah268 even if it is disappointing. I’ve had a good night last night following a terrible night the day before and have no idea what I did differently. It’s so frustrating! I’ve tried a pillow between the knees and it makes the pain worse. Hopefully it improves soon for both of us! Thanks for the additional pillow tips @Firsttimetrier and @BeLemonQuoter I think I will get one, I think having something a bit firmer might be useful, especially against my back, as all the ones we have are quite soft. Will let you know what I get!

I thought I felt some movement yesterday, but nothing regular yet. First time pregnancy so I’ve got no idea what I’m looking out for, guess I will just have to wait!

Sarah268 · 08/09/2024 20:59

Yes my movements are quite low down too, I’ve only just had them the last few days but it’s feeling more and more regular so I’m convinced that’s what they are. It’s a strange feeling, definitely a bit like digestion or stomach gurgling haha. So lovely though!

Firsttimetrier · 08/09/2024 22:11

I was 23 weeks yesterday and had my first sign of movement from the outside today which is exciting!

Time seems to be flying by and can’t believe I’ll be at the 24 week mark next weekend. Always felt good about getting to this milestone as it feels like the countdown starts.

@Firsttimetrier Yay for movements! I'm still getting internal ones only but it's still great.

I know, I was just thinking this morning that it's only 4 months to go... you'd book a holiday 4 months out! Time is definitely ticking by. Cue me remembering I haven't purchased a single baby item yet 😂

Firsttimetrier · 11/09/2024 10:58

How is everyone getting on?

Seeing threads for May 2025 babies is making me realise how soon we’ll be all meeting ours! 🥹

I'm absolutely exhausted!! Having terrible sleep...combination of baby deciding my uterus is a trampoline at night and my husband's snoring. I don't know if his snoring has gotten worse or if I'm just a lot less tolerant now than pre pregnancy!!!

Have my anomaly scan on Monday...so nervous and excited for that. I'll be almost 23 weeks and it will have been 11 weeks since I've seen little one at the 12 week scan!

Counting down the weeks til I can finish up in work. Planning to get signed off early December to give me a bit of time pre-Xmas before the mayhem of January!!

Firsttimetrier · 11/09/2024 13:46

@ttcnumero1 feel you on the exhaustion! I had some insomnia and then my 2 year old had a period of 5am starts 😴

Our toddler also brought home hand, foot and mouth last week and although he’s fine and luckily in nursery, it’s completely wiped my husband out. I’ve not caught it yet but been staying well clear of DH but been having to solo parent a lot, so I’m more tired than usual!

That’s exciting about work! I’ve officially agreed my maternity start date and will be taking a week of annual leave before Christmas, so last working day is the 13th Dec! Hoping baby will stay put until at least the 30th Dec!

Anyone feeling more thirsty at 21 weeks? I don't remember this in previous pregnancy

MrsNT · 11/09/2024 16:01

Also is the FB group active or is it only WhatsApp only?

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 11/09/2024 16:07

Also not doing well 😂 hips still, can't sleep well and 5 year olds are going through a tricky stage

That's so exciting to think about maternity leave :) I've now been told 10th Jan (previously 20th Dec) so slightly relieved but equally a little sad I won't get to use the cute christmas stuff. And means I've got 3 more weeks of discomfort

Firsttimetrier · 12/09/2024 13:39

@MrsNT I think there is just a WhatsApp group but they aren’t letting any others in.

Not sure if anyone in this thread is in it but would love to join if possible!

I found my first MN and WhatsApp groups really helpful and they are still very active 3 years later!

@BigDeanWinchesterFan how come you have been pushed back 3 weeks? Is this from your dating scan?

They thought I would have to have a c section at 36-37 weeks but decided it's OK to wait until 39 weeks which is obviously really good but equally the thought of going 3 more weeks is a bit much. But I actually don't think I'll start mat leave that much later because of christmas

Firsttimetrier · 12/09/2024 16:00

@BigDeanWinchesterFan ah, that’s positive though, although I can understand feeling a bit disheartened to have to go an additional 3 weeks!

I’m technically due to work the one day post NY before my maternity leave officially starts on the 3rd Jan as I’ve not taken it off as annual leave, but hoping I won’t need to actually work as the baby will be here 😂

I think I have 13 weeks left, so hoping it will fly by!

Same.im on a private FB group from mumsnet for first baby thats been so useful. Would be a bit skeptical to be on a WhatsApp group personally.

Uguberry · 13/09/2024 06:42

Hi all, glad you're doing well albeit sleep deprived, I'm in that club too! I've been using a maternity pillow for ages already, a big full body one like an oval though rectangular at one end, and tend to have it between my knees then for some reason want the bit behind to be pulled so tightly into my back! Not sure if it's offering more support or snugness but it's good. Plus the cat loves it so I get all night cuddles.

Been really unmotivated to go out and I need to force myself to do more. I get muscular pain around bump when I walk which is putting me off, sometimes it's really sore. Had the go ahead from OB to try a maternity belt - has anyone used one?

Also, is anyone planning on having a doula? Hoping to meet one in a few weeks to chat about everything.

NeedSleepNowPls · 13/09/2024 08:55

@Uguberry I'd love to hear what your thoughts are when you meet her! I hadn't thought about it yet but it does sound like a brilliant option.

I'd quite like to have a home water birth this time but need to do a bit of research first, mainly stats about how many people actually stay at home and how many have to then go into hospital. And also the pain relief options if at home 😬

Firsttimetrier · 13/09/2024 09:34

@Uguberry I’d also love to know your thoughts on the doula! I’m doing hypnobirthing (when I remember 😂) but would be interested to know if a doula feels worth it.

Hello, ok if I join this group! My baby is due 29 Jan. it’s my second and it’s been a long
pregnancy so far as I am so ill but I am super excited despite having a hairy few days there with scan issues.

i have booked a doula that I want to work with. I found my first birth quite traumatic and I think I need some support with how to cope with things! And also my husband needs direction too. We both just respond better to that in new situations! I’m hoping for a birth centre birth but have high BMI so need to fight for that: boooooo.

anyway, hello all!

whenthelevee · 13/09/2024 19:01

Great to hear how everyone is doing! I'm due 16 January, although very likely I will need a c-section due to a combination of a large fibroid sitting on top of my cervix and a low-lying placenta. I go between thinking it will all be fine and feeling really anxious about increased risks of complications. The doctor said we need to just wait and see how things look at the 30-week scan, but it feels like such a long way away.

Just agreed my last day at work will be 17 December though so I'm hoping the baby will hang in there until after Christmas and we can have a chilled out Christmas (as chilled as having an excited DS 5 yo will allow, that is!)
