Anyone else due January 2025?

I’m coming up to 16 weeks with my second. This time seems to be flying by as life is much busier with a nearly 2 year old!

Luckily, felt pretty much fine the whole way through so far, albeit being tired. However, I was diagnosed with GD and currently diet controlled, which is bit of a bummer.

How are you feeling?

Anyone feeling more thirsty at 21 weeks? I don't remember this in previous pregnancy

I've been feeling really thirsty the whole way through the pregnancy, but if I drink more than a sip of water I get reflux so finding it quite tricky.

Firsttimetrier · 14/09/2024 13:48

Welcome and congratulations @TorrentialHighSeas! Sorry to hear you’ve been really ill this pregnancy, hope this is a turning point and the last few months are easier. This is also my second pregnancy and my LO will be 2.5 when this baby arrives. How old is your first? Have to say it’s been very different in terms of how active I’ve been as there’s no time to rest with a toddler 😂

@whenthelevee hope the fibroid shrinks and your placenta moves up 🤞🏽

TorrentialHighSeas · 15/09/2024 22:33

@Firsttimetrier I was sick right until my son popped out so I fully expect the same this time!!

my son is currently 2.5 so I imagine this baby will come just before his 3rd birthday! Toddlers do not allow for rest time that’s for sure. I don’t know how people have big families - the pregnancies sound like the worst bit haha !

Firsttimetrier · 19/09/2024 09:43

Anyone else absolutely exhausted? 😩

I think working full time, parenting a toddler and the general day to day to keep the house running whilst pregnant is taking its toll.

I’ve booked a day of annual leave just to chill out and maybe get a pregnancy massage!

Absolutely 😂 that sounds amazing 😃 hope you enjoy that completely!

23 weeks today baby boy!
Anyone bought any clothing bits yet for baby?
If yes what have you bought and how many of each (sleep suits, bodysuits, short or long sleeve).

Thanks x

Sarah268 · 24/09/2024 10:46

@Mama2b99 ahh congratulations! I'm also 23 wks and having a boy! Is this your first?

Haven't bought anything yet but will do soon I think! I did a bit of reading up on how much to buy pre-baby and came up with the list below which I'll use for the essentials and I'm sure I'll pick up some non-essential but cute bits that I can't resist!

Sleepsuits x 8
Bodysuits x 8
Vests x 8
Baby grows x 8 (ideally with integrated feet and mittens)
Outdoor hat/sun hat x 2 (a UV-protected sun hat for summer or a warm hat in winter)
Cardigans or jackets x 3 (to use as layers for warmth and remove as required)
5-10 pairs of baby socks or booties
Baby mittens (optional)
Pramsuit (optional dependent on season)

Obviously January babies are winter babies so it will be cold but then when you're inside the heating will be on so it's going to be a mix of keeping warm when out but not too hot inside.

Firsttimetrier · 24/09/2024 11:00

I’m 25 weeks with a boy too but will be reusing all the bits from my older boy, although think I’ll need a few bits as my first was a heatwave baby so don’t have any newborn wintery bits!

With my DS, I bought WAY too much 😂 have an XL vacuum pack bag for each size. However, he lived in mainly sleepsuits until 3-6 months but we had about 20 in each size which was probably too many, even when he was a sicky newborn!

whenthelevee · 24/09/2024 12:59

We also ended up with way more clothes than needed with our first child- between bundle of newborn clothes we got from a friend, gifts and the clothes that come in the baby box (we are in Scotland) we didn't really need to buy any clothes until 6-9 months. I think it is really easy to overbuy but the list posted above seems pretty sensible.

I am 24 weeks with a girl this time so think I will just reuse the clothes from last time, and just buy her a new coming home from hospital outfit. Think I will start with what I need for the hospital bag - although admittedly much less exciting!

Firsttimetrier · 24/09/2024 19:55

@whenthelevee our excess clothes were from night feeds 😂 browsing Vinted and the sales and buying things to keep me awake when breastfeeding 🙈

Hi 👋🏽
Currently 22+5 with my second and finally found the time to jump on here

Oh yes I can see the dangers there! I wasn't on Vinted when my first was born, but I can see myself doing that too. First time around I would stay up rewatching the whole series of ER haha.

I sometimes get a bit of pain which I think is round ligament pain? It feels like a sharp jab, like something is there.

I remember having it with my first so not too worried.

Anyone have swollen ankles and feet?
24+2

need reassurance!

Not as much as my first pregnancy (twins), my sister used to press patterns into my swollen feet and find it hilarious and I had to wear my mum's shoes (2 sizes up) 😂 tgis was 24 weeks and it didn't improve until they were born.

This time a couple of my shoes are a tiny big tight at 24 weeks but nothing major.

They're really good at monitoring for pre-eclampsia and you know all the symptoms?

I'm not sure but only because everywhere seems to have hurt at some point, I keep feeling like I've pulled muscles across the middle.
I think the pain you described I've had, nothing ever seems to come of any pain so I've stopped worrying particularly. 😅

Sarah268 · 02/10/2024 06:29

Not suffered with pain under the belly really but my back pain is worse than ever and my new one is rib pain. Honestly being in bed is awful 😂 I was lying there last night thinking is this going to get worse and worse for the next 15 weeks?!

lucky I can feel kicking now which just about makes it worth it 😂

Possibly pelvic girdle pain? www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/related-conditions/common-symptoms/pelvic-pain/

I have some lower-down pain but pretty sure it is nerve-related. Similar symptoms though and the last few days it is sore both standing and walking. Also hoping it's not like this for the next 15 weeks!

I’m struggling to get comfortable in bed as I sleep on my front but the baby just kicks the shit out of me if I try that. On my side is a nightmare - what do you do with the under-arm? I’m soooooo tired.

It’s expensive but the BBHugMe is great as you can sleep on your front with it. I had mine with my son and it’s never left our bed 😅

The arm! There's always an inconvenient arm when on your side but now it's a whole other level and every night I want to chop my arms off because they cannot find anywhere acceptable to be. The pregnancy pillow is needed in bed but I still sleep better on the sofa, the softer cushions helping with all the achey parts.

92Char · 03/10/2024 08:03

Can relate to the sleep issues. I usually sleep ok for the first 3 or 4 hours then wake up feeling uncomfortable. Some nights are worse than others, but when I get up and walk around or do a few stretches it helps. I think it is preparation for waking up for night feeds when the baby is born 😁

Sarah268 · 03/10/2024 09:54

Haha I feel less alone reading these. In a few months our sleep troubles will be very different...

What vitamins/supplements is everyone taking? I'm still on the normal pregnacare ones but they are pretty expensive so wondering if there's a cheaper alternative. Also does anyone take omega 3? I know it's important and I don't eat much oily fish.

I'm having rib pain! 26 weeks, it's stopping me walking etc. Where is yours if you don't mind me asking?
