We’re doing ok thank you, she will have to stay in for a bit until her lungs are a bit stronger but she is otherwise strong and healthy. I’m doing fine, exhausted and a bit emotional, she is in the neonatal unit so I haven’t seen very much of her yet which is very difficult, but her dad and biggest brother have alternated between us so she’s had someone with her all day. I’m meant to be resting but I’m hoping I can spend most of the night with her.
It was very unexpected, I spent the evening eating ice cream in the garden with the other kids, then DH was called out on a job, he’s a plumber, and even jokingly told me not to have the baby while he was gone! I went to bed and just couldn’t get comfortable, then the pains started and I had to call DH at 3am to ask him when he’d be back, obviously he thought I was joking. When he got in I was rocking on all fours on the bed trying not to make any noise and wake the kids. Waters broke in the hospital car park and the rest was pretty straightforward, but a bit painful!
