@MudandMoet thanks! Your bump is very cute for 2 weeks to go ☺️how exciting!!

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 10/08/2024 01:50

Anyone else getting annoyed at references about how you can get a drink soon? They annoy me so much. Do people not understand most women will be breastfeeding and not able to go on a margarita bender 3 weeks after birth???? I looked it up and even a small glass of wine has to be perfectly fucking timed which takes all enjoyment out of it.

Maybe I'm just fat and swollen and in pain and grumpy but I'm so annoyed at having to be polite to stupid fucking questions.

Caveat: most of my friends don't have babies so I get why they're being dumb but still. Fuck off. Everyone fuck off.

I'm done. 37 weeks on Monday. I want this baby out now.

You don’t need to perfectly time alcohol. You can drink alcohol and breastfeed.

Lillers · 10/08/2024 06:58

@HuggingAnIcePack887 Yes yes yes! I’m not so bothered about the timing thing, I’ve heard you can breastfeed and still drink (just in moderation). But for me it’s the assumption that alcohol is so important to me that I must be desperately missing it! Um no actually, I haven’t missed it in the slightest. Even the thought of it right now makes me feel queasy still! I’m not planning on staying tee total forever, but I’m not going to be downing a bottle of Sav as soon as I’m home from the hospital either. It is something that has been really annoying me.

PoppingUp · 10/08/2024 09:11

@HuggingAnIcePack887 @Lillers I'd been pleasantly surprised by how little I'd missed alcohol but have definitely found myself thinking more about it the last few weeks...found myself googling half bottle subscriptions the other day 😂

TripleESept24 · 10/08/2024 09:18

@HuggingAnIcePack887 @Lillers
It's memes and stuff on Instagram I keep seeing!! Women having wine parties after birth even packing a small single bottle in their hospital bag!!

I'm just like wtf! I haven't missed it at all either! And it's certainly not the first thing I'm thinking of I probably won't have a drink until Christmas

TripleESept24 · 10/08/2024 09:24

I have a question I think this has been touched on before. I'm 35+1 today, when can we buy nursing bras and where from for very large boobs!!! I haven't had any colostrum or signs of milk yet

MudandMoet · 10/08/2024 09:43

I think my username gives me away on my thoughts about having a little drink when baby is here 🙂🙃 I personally think it's just something people say as it's been warm weather and lots of ladies do like the odd glass of something on a summers evening. I wouldn't get worked up about it, it's really not that offensive.

TripleESept24 · 10/08/2024 09:46

@MudandMoet 🤣 I do love a glass of champers and that is what I'll be having at Christmas!!

I don't get offended by it, my mum and people I know have a glass of wine every evening. I just haven't missed it so won't be rushing into having one myself 😀 might have the odd one if we go out for food

MalibuAndPineapple82 · 10/08/2024 10:16

Lovely bump pics ladies 🥰 I’m so jealous of how neat they are! Here’s mine, 34+4 today.

FuppinNora · 10/08/2024 11:04

Yes, yes to all the emotions, I'm very weepy the last week, don't remember being like this on my last one. I'm 36 weeks and I'm also done, I'm uncomfortable, insomnia is back between 2 and 5am every night. Just want baby here. I keep saying to myself another max 6 weeks left for me. Sitting on the couch is even uncomfortable now.
I'm also anxious about the birth as I ended up having an emergency c section on my last. I will talk to clinic on Monday about anxiety.
Agree with the alcohol but I'm not a big drinker anyway so don't get the "need" for it. However I am looking forward to eating a good portion meal and not feeling bloated after.
I just need to keep reminding myself this was a long awaited baby and I'm lucky to be in the position.

Lillers · 10/08/2024 11:18

I’m coming up to 34 weeks and have started getting the nausea back. I was really sick up until 26 weeks, so I’ve had 8 weeks without it, and now it feels like it’s creeping back. I know that it does sometimes come back in the third trimester, but I was really hoping it’d be closer to the end!

Decaffe · 10/08/2024 12:23

Hi all, I’m 34w2d today. Last night an hour or so after dinner I was sick. Then this morning again about two hours after breakfast, it came back up. I don’t think I’ve got a bug, smaller snacks seem to be okay and I feel okay. Baby’s kicks are fine. I wondered if it might be to do with my stomach - is it compressed now? I can’t have as big a meal as before… is that a thing at this stage?!

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 10/08/2024 12:30

@MudandMoet @SpicyMoth @TripleESept24 @PoppingUp I've just read back my own post and I was exceptionally grumpy there 🤣 emotions are running high right now, I'm ok today. Bring on this baby 🤣🤣🤣

@Decaffe oh absolutely a thing! I haven't been able to have a big lunch or dinner since around 30 weeks. I can't even have TWO eggs on my avo toast, I can only handle ONE egg and one piece of toast 🤣.

So many people think pregnancy = all you can eat but for me it's sort of ruined food. I need small, frequent meals, or it definitely comes back up. But I can't have an empty stomach because then the stomach acid comes back up. So it looks like I'm not eating much but really I'm packing so so so many calories a day 🙃 I heard it's easy to lose weight with a baby LOL 😅😅😅

I’m not a big drinker but I do love a spicy cocktail 😂 I’ve been eyeing up spicy margaritas in cans haha. I keep seeing reels of women after labour, baby in hand, drink in the other, laying with a platter of sushi. Sounds like heaven to me and I won’t hear otherwise 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

RosiePH · 10/08/2024 15:33

I’m not a big drinker but alcohol has actually been something I’ve been craving! I think it’s more that I can’t have it right now, which is making me want it! I can’t wait to have a small glass of wine haha.

I did the feeding part of my NCT course this week and they said it’s an outdated view that you can’t drink or need to pump and dump. Just don’t drink more than you would if you were driving in the UK (and ideally time it for just after you’ve fed baby). Obviously all personal choice though!

I am 33 weeks and have been feeling a bit sick again actually. It’s not nausea (thankfully) but more of a slight queasiness which I think is coming from a bad taste in my mouth all the time.

I think the omeprazole wasn’t agreeing with my digestion so now I’m back to heartburn and gaviscon. It feels like not eating triggers the heartburn worse than eating does.

MudandMoet · 10/08/2024 15:36

Agree with the smaller portions, it's unusual for me to not finish my plate but this last few weeks I've struggled with my usual portion sizes. We've just had lunch out and DH ended up finishing my meal. We're out at a family event tomorrow and I need to remember not to pile my plate because I feel sick very quickly when I over eat now.

On another note, my friend whose due date was 2 weeks behind me (9th September ish) had her baby last night. Mucus plug came away 9pm
ish, baby was breech so in the hospital for around 9:30pm and delivered by c section by 11 💙 all okay and a healthy 5lb 12oz.

MudandMoet · 10/08/2024 15:44

@HRP1990 yesss! I can't lie I'm looking forward to a large charcuterie board with all the cheeses and meats and a nice glass of something. I need to try these spicy margaritas, I've not even heard of them. They sound 👌🏼

@RosiePH I think you're right, a lot of it is because you can't have it, you want it but if it was allowed we'd probably not think twice. My heartburn is always worse when I'm hungry too.
This sounds incredibly gross but I have found the thing that eases my heartburn the most....drinking a tin of caffeine free Pepsi max and then letting the loudest man belches out possible (it makes you very gassy) terribly unladylike but it really does clear it for me.

1000%. I have a photo of me drinking champagne at home when first baby was 3 days old. Can’t wait to replicate it 😅

WinsandSam · 10/08/2024 23:34

I'm not even a big drinker but am so looking forward to a cocktail and some sushi 😂 I've been out from 1-11pm today for a friends birthday and had to watch them drinking their cold, delicious looking cocktails 😳 so cruel! Think it's the warm weather, not being able to and knowing it's nearly time I can

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 11/08/2024 06:03

Another one whose not a big drinker here too! I just can't wait to give birth and stuff my face with food and it not taste vile and me not throw it up instantly 😁 I have a list of restaurant recommendations written down that me and DH will be visiting on our mat/pat leave. Honestly the joys of HG, I often wake up in the night having dribbled on my pillow been dreaming of food 🙈

I also keep looking at DH's energy drinks in the fridge and really want one?! I've never drank energy drinks - can't stand the taste of them...so why do I keep wanting one 😂

Xur · 11/08/2024 06:41

I do not miss alcohol, I miss sleeping on belly 😅😂

Omg yes!!!! Every night now I wake I reckon every hour going from side to side, because my hips hurt 😥🥺

PinkWatermelon88 · 11/08/2024 11:25

Things took a bad turn here yesterday…. I caught a cold from my small lady and during a bad coughing fit ended up with a haemorrhoid! Been agony all night, off to boots now to get meds. If it’s not one thing…. 🙈
