@Babyplease23 I think we are going with Harrison but my sticking point is DH said he would mostly call him Harry and I’m like well that’s a different name why would we not just call him Harry if that’s the case. We have found boys names way harder than girls.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 18/07/2024 14:31

Babyplease23 · 18/07/2024 09:48

Is anybody still struggling with baby names? Feeling really frustrated 🥴 DH and I have only been able to agree on one name (that we chose quite early on in the pregnancy) and have been referring to baby by this name the entire time so was 99% sure we would be using it. Well.... DH cousin (who he can't stand) has just had a baby and they've only gone and picked the same name. I'm not bothered because as far as I'm concerned we have had this name picked for ages, and can't agree on anything else. But DH has fully vetoed the name now. I'd understand if he was super close to the cousin but they hardly talk and he doesn't even like them! He said it's embarrassing to now use the same name and it'll look like we copied them. Feels like we are back to square one and at this rate the poor boy will be nameless 🙄

We’re having a girl (apparently - I’m still convinced a boy is going to come out after already having 2 boys, I almost refuse to believe it 🤣) but this is a portion of the list of “potentials” we had for boy

Digby, Jasper, Bobby, Otto, Albie, Billy, Rory, Ronnie, Ivan, Buster, Enzo, Benny, Sonny, Marty, Ezzy, Rudy, Toddy, Bailey, Ozzy, Monty, Jed, Shiloh, Ziggy, Roscoe, Silas, Tully, Royce, Laurie, Hayden, Zion, Rhett, Marley, Rafe, Charlie

Babyplease23 · 18/07/2024 14:32

Oooh thanks @WolfMother326 I do like Leonard so will be suggesting that to DH!

@tryingfortwo2 Yes, Theo was top of our list so I'm pretty gutted 😢 it's definitely become mega popular over the last couple of years, although I've not actually met another Theo before. I'm not so bothered by popularity but DH doesn't want anything too popular, but he also doesn't like unique names so he's not making it very easy for me 🤣 I totally agree with you. And I think Leo is a nice strong name on its own, without needing a longer version! He isn't keen on Rafferty and has suggested Raphael as an alternative and although I don't hate it, I don't love it either. I just don't want to use a name for the sake of it and then look back and regret it!

@Cat2022 That's exactly how I feel regarding Leo! He's only ever going to go by Leo, apart from official documents, so why not just go with that?! DH wants him to have the option to use either as he gets older...

Babyplease23 · 18/07/2024 14:34

Thanks for the suggestions @Honeyandsunshine1 they're all lovely names! Rory, Sonny and Rafe were all on my list too, but a strong NO from DH 🤣 he hasn't given any creative input so I might just name him whatever the hell I want 🤣

I’ve started packing perhaps a bit early but I’ve forgotten all I need hahah! But these little bags from Etsy are helping.
I think I could just do with some newborn vests short sleeve and long… because I know they fire through these with dribbles leaks and poop.
so added to my next basket. I find they wash really well …. Anything else I am forgetting for baby!!
Are we washing muslins? And cardigans? The whole lot?! 😂 not even my first but I’ve forgotten it all…

I’ve washed up to 0-3 so far! Also muslins/bibs/socks/hats etc! I’ve just popped a delicate wash of cardi’s and knitwear too as the weather is so nice out.

Random one, but I’ve heard a lot about that wash? You can use on babies/toddlers if you don’t have time to bath them one eve. Can’t think of the brand now but I can see it in the top left of your photo! Have you used it and would you recommend?

Xur · 18/07/2024 15:31

@MrsM89 I’m very happy for you all, good news the scan went great! 😊

I had my 32W scan today, baby is 2kg. I’m waiting for the measurements to appear on my app.
Surprise, surprise I didn’t see a consultant today, I was told they don’t even have one on site today, just a junior doctor and I would have to wait a live queue to see them. 😂
Anyway I was told I don’t need to see a consultant anyway because the baby is growing very well. Measuring just about 50%.
Also, baby is head down, last week on Tuesday he was head up according to the midwife.
Was told baby’s spine is going straight across my belly, over my belly button, he was literally straight down on the scan.
So all is well, the chonk is chonkin’.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 18/07/2024 16:51

I've sat outside for half hour this afternoon and I am SO HOT! I had to come back in and now I'm laid on the sofa like a walrus, sweating from areas I didn't know could sweat. Its making me itchy too 😬

SpicyMoth · 18/07/2024 17:07

MW Appt update!
She seems to just think that my hand troubles are Pregnancy Related Carpal Tunnel + Oedema - even with the insanely bad acid reflux and light headaches I've been getting.
Sent off a request to GP to get me on some Omeprazole (Thanks for the recommendation to ask about other medication!! <3)

Baby is also breech once again - he seems to enjoy switching from cephalic to breech every other appointment.
He has also gone from measuring average, to measuring small, to now measuring big! 😩
So referred me for another scan to check his size and position once again, just waiting on the date.

She said by now for first timer's they apparently expect baby to be head down and stay that way? first I've heard of it!
So if he's preferring breech then he'll have to be moved externally - she said depending on if he moves or not will mean I'll likely have to have a C-Section, or Induction or both! >.<

Not ideal tbh, I'm sure there's nothing wrong with your average C-Section but my mum had a horrendous experience with me where she ended up with gangrene - Ideally I'd have liked to give birth vaginally in water which now seems even more unlikely than it was before considering my hospital only has 2 birthing pools to begin with >.<

Needless to say I'm now very nervous!

Oh, and I was weighed and I've gained... A LOT of weight :')
If I saw the computer screen accurately, roughly 30lbs.
Gone from 10st4 to something like 12st.
Mortified it's so much, there's no way in hell that's all baby, placenta and water retention.
I'm just a fat fuck now I guess 😭

@Honeyandsunshine1 I'm also having a girl and still think a boy may pop out 😂 they're some cool names!

Our top boy names were Felix, Floyd or Jett.. also loved Otis, Otto, Jude but there are a lot of those around.

I know so many Theo's is crazy! Lovely name though.

@BeautyAndTheBump1i just had to walk a mile to get my car from the garage. I feel swollen like a balloon and like I've been in a swimming pool 😂 I usually love the sun. Hotter tomorrow and in the city shopping/having a massage. Will be interesting

Honeyandsunshine1 · 18/07/2024 17:13

@SpicyMoth dint worry, you have something like 40-60% more blood running around your body, you’re going to be a bit heavier (not to mention the waters, the chunky lil babe you’re ferrying around, your boobs, the placenta etc) your body is doing something so incredibly amazing, don’t judge yourself by the scales. Remind yourself that you’re literally growing life from scratch, your body is bloody wonderful and beautiful🥺❤️

Did the MW still do the usual checking your blood pressure and urine? If she did that and all was good then I imagine all good pre-eclampsia wise xx

Xur · 18/07/2024 17:17

@SpicyMoth I’ve given a thought to the turning of a baby with a doctor and from what I have heard I am never ever going to agree to having him turned. I know someone who ended up with almost choking their baby with cord after she was turned. 😭 I rather have gangrene than potentially have him harmed.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 18/07/2024 17:18

@WinsandSam hahaha, how funny! Im just convinced a scrotum/willy has been hiding in every scan. I actually asked them at my 32 week growth scan to just double check for me if they could, they didn’t, and I didn’t realise till I’d left. Cue anxious panic. I’m going to insist at the 36 week one that they just check for me because my brain keeps telling me it’s wrong 🤣

Ooo I love Jett!! Jude is super lovely but yeah, really popular now

Thank you so much, that does make me feel a little better, thank you!
I've always struggled with my weight and body image so seeing myself so massive and "thick" in weird areas is vaguely triggering I think ahah, god I wish I'd not seen the number! 😭

She did test my urine, it had protein and something else in it (I can't remember the name of what it was though! >.< It was complex sounding and I was there on my own for the first time and memory like a sieve atm ) -

She said she'd send it off for tests, I've been testing with protein for a good while now though, even had a course of antibiotics that did absolutely nothing. She doesn't seem massively worried about the protein, I'm still waiting on a kidney scan to confirm for definite whether or not I have stones from my last A&E trip where I was in agony and vomiting from pain.

Blood pressure was also taken, though I don't actually think they said what it was - if it wasn't okay surely they'd have said something?! You'd hope anyway! 😅

Also had bloods taken to be sent off.
I've actually just gone through my BadgerNotes app and it says from my June Blood tests that they've asked for GP to give me iron? But reading it literally right now is the first I'm hearing of it at all!
Should I be following that up if my Midwife hasn't mentioned it to me directly that I need it?

OMG @Xur that sounds awful!!!
Jesus, it seems like there's so many things that can go tits up x-x
Ughh, so much to think about and process >.<

@SpicyMoth my baby is also breach now. I was told don't worry as still so early! I've elected for a c section if she isn't here by 40 weeks as don't want an induction.

Re weight, I've gone from 10st 7lbs to 12st 1lb. Apparently that's fine! I haven't gained anywhere apart from my huge bump. My bmi was normal so they not really care (not that I agree with bmi as a medical tool.) most friends and family I know gained 4 stone. So don't worry, it's really not a lot at all

@Honeyandsunshine1 well we don't have long to see if a Willy was hiding. I have no boy clothes so he'll be wearing floral stuff.

Xur · 18/07/2024 18:15

I put my hands up and admit as a recovered anorexic I pledged to stop weighing myself so I have done I don’t want to know how much I’ve gained and I won’t be weighting myself until like 3-4 weeks post partum.

fleur89 · 18/07/2024 18:48

Try proper yoga (aka not antenatal yoga) for flipping baby, I'm pretty sure mine flipped during class yesterday - was a strange and powerful sensation. Confirmed at my scan today at 32+5. Head down finally - it's time he hasn't been breech! It's how I flipped my daughter around this time and she stayed head down thereafter. Fingers crossed this one stays head down now too

fleur89 · 18/07/2024 18:48

*first time he hasn't been breech

HRP1990 · 18/07/2024 19:25

Girls who’s gone from breach to head down.. have you noticed a difference in bump shape? My last MW appointment was at 28w and next isn’t until 35w so I’m just guessing that he’s still breech! My bump is quite high?

On the weight gain! Give yourself a break, I was 10 stone 8, and am currently 12 stone 4. They say up to 2 stone is normal I think? We are nearly there but not quite yet! I know people that put on 3 and a half stone so don't worry! Hopefully we will snap back quickly, I did with my first

longingtobe23 · 18/07/2024 19:27

@HRP1990 yes mustela! My sister uses it on her kids all under 5 and a baby and all okay with it even with sensitive skin. It’s fragrance free and meant to be a good one. She got me these to try 🤞🏻 from boots!

I have a transverse / sliding baby who was almost head down from breech last scan I had … but I am sure she’s moved again 🙈
bump is super high and all the mums at sports day yesterday only just noticed I’m pregnant… I thought they just weren’t the congratulatory type haha
I am 31 + 1 today and midwife tomorrow so wonder where she is at… but definitely a high and not so comfy bump 😮‍💨

In terms of baby position, I’m 30 weeks and when I was in triage last week, the midwife said she was on a diagonal - head was below belly button and the my left, while feet were above belly button to my right. Yesterday I felt an almighty shift and you could see her moving across - dh could also see it clearly and was like, “woah!” Now I am pretty certain she’s completely sideways - head is in line with my belly button to my right, and feet feel like they’re in line to my left. I reckon she has plenty more big moves left in her before she settles into a final position!

rupertbear91 · 18/07/2024 20:16

Just checking in

Xur · 18/07/2024 21:04

My baby was head down for a month, then he was allegedly head up for a week and is back cephalic now and my belly hasn’t dropped as in it’s not hanging. It’s a teeny tiny bit lower than yours @HRP1990 , however, when he was supposedly upwards, the shape didn’t change. It’s been like this for a long time now.
