I'm suddenly worried I don't have enough clothes for her 🤔🩷 but also don't want to go mad with clothes! Should I buy more once she's here?

I feel exactly the same! Washed all her clothes the other day, so now I’ve actually organised them into size and type and am worried I don’t have enough, but then think I guess we can just get more when she’s here if we need them.

rupertbear91 · 04/08/2024 08:11

@TripleESept24 I am the same too I keep panicking and ordering a few more bits 😫 my MIL did look in his draws the other day tho and comment how much stuff I have maybe I'm over stressing 😂

TripleESept24 · 04/08/2024 14:09

@rupertbear91 @Lillers I let the panic get the best of me. Just been to Matalan and big Tesco and spent about £80 all on "up to 1 month" which is up to 10 pounds and 0-3 stuff!! I didn't go for newborn they are literally up to 7.5 pounds and my daughter was 8pound 11 born! So don't see the point in the really tiny stuff (watch her be born tiny now and have to rush out and get even smaller stuff 🤣)

Lalarosex · 04/08/2024 15:35

anyone not experienced braxton hicks? I am 36 weeks today and am waiting to feel them (FTM) but nothing yet. Am on my feet a lot so thought that might trigger them

MudandMoet · 04/08/2024 15:56

@Lalarosex I've not had any braxton hicks. I've got to be honest and say I've no idea what they are but I've not had any pain or stretching sensations throughout so assuming I've not had any. Also on my feet a lot and 36 + 4. Maybe not everyone gets them.

Khanga27 · 04/08/2024 16:13

@TripleESept24 Asdas new born (they call first size I think) goes up to 9 pounds. But I’ve been the same, stocking up on 0-1 months and 0-3 months.

@MudandMoet @Lalarosex I’ve had braxton hicks. They didn’t hurt. First time
j knew I had them was when I was having movements monitored in the hospital, as they show as “contractions” on the printed monitor. They just made my tum feel tight and uncomfortable. I actually thought during the monitoring that they were slow movements like rolling causing the tightness..

Lillers · 04/08/2024 16:40

@MudandMoet @Lalarosex I’ve had quite a few - sometimes they feel like mild cramps, sometimes just a tightening of the bump. A couple have been painful but over within seconds. According to my midwife everyone gets them from about 20 weeks onwards, but not everyone feels them.

SC126 · 04/08/2024 16:40

@Lalarosex second time mum here and I've not had Braxton hicks with either pregnancy so far so its not always something people get.

Lalarosex · 04/08/2024 16:41

@Khanga27 thsts interesting as some of the rolling movements I’ve felt I wondered how to tell the difference as it makes one side feel super tight! I just hope lack of braxton hicks at this stage doesnt mean going past due date!

TripleESept24 · 04/08/2024 16:57

@Lalarosex I had some last Friday! I felt really uncomfortable leading up to it I was out for brother in laws birthday in a pub, then when I got home the tightening/cramping started!

As a second time mum (all tho 20 years ago!) to me it feels like a mild contraction, don't know if anyone agrees? Bump tightens up and it's not painful or unbearable but uncomfortable and takes your breath away a bit! That's the only time I've had it though so far and I am 34+2 today

TripleESept24 · 04/08/2024 17:10

Just some more basics today.... With the little cherry outfit from Tesco being my favourite 🥺🍒🩷

I've not had any BH this prregnancy or last, but I am only 34w gone tomorrow so maybe a bit early.
I'm going nuts trying to find a replacement mattress for the Babylo You & Me Crib. My SIL gave us herrs for the living room but there are no mattresses anywhere to be found for it - dimensions are really niche. At this stage I might just have to buy a whole new one as it seems the only way to get a mattress is to buy the whole lot again!

Xur · 04/08/2024 19:03

@TripleESept24 omg that cherry jumper is everything 😍😍😍

I feel like I need to buy more baby tights (trousers with leggings) as I’ve seen last few days how quickly socks come off tiny feet and I know I won’t be putting any shoes on so trousers with feet might be the route to go.

FuppinNora · 04/08/2024 19:06

Did you try putting the mattress dimensions into Google? I was finding it hard to get a cradle mattress. Eventually got one on baby elegance (they deliver to UK). It only came up when I put the dimensions in. Try also Johnston prams they seem to have similar type mattress.

When I went in for a CTG a couple of weeks ago, the line at the bottom (TOCO?) showed I was having mild contractions, two nurses separately asked me if I could feel them, my answer was no!

Today we have finally finished installing and painting two Ikea PAX wardrobes in an alcove, but we got a joiner in to make them look fully fitted and put extra cupboards on top so they’re floor to ceiling. Just been spending a pleasant hour filling one of them up with baby’s things… he has more clothes than me! Where did they come from?! 😳😁

Emmaev · 04/08/2024 20:07

Im 36 weeks tomorrow and have been having braxton hicks for a few weeks. They’re never painful, my belly just gets tight during the day. Usually when she’s moving.

Im actually not bothered about clothes. My daughter was born early and tiny so we had to run out and grab everything. So it’s made me far more laid back. Although having a super tiny first born I hope I haven’t bought too many small baby grows and vests haha

PinkWatermelon88 · 04/08/2024 20:39

@FuppinNora i did! Searched every website in the uk and Ireland and nada! I’m still holding out hope that something will appear somewhere 😍

WinsandSam · 04/08/2024 21:57

@Lalarosex no I haven't had any braxton hicks yet! Although if not painful I'm not sure if I'd have noticed.

Khanga27 · 04/08/2024 22:19

Hi all. Just wondered if anyone had recommendations for car seat?

we were given a second hand cosatto pram which included a newborn car seat from family and we know the history (no accidents), but we are just wondering whether we should really go new rather than one that’s a good few years old.

HRP1990 · 04/08/2024 22:27

I’ve not had any Braxton hicks this time around and I’m 34+4! I guess there still is time!

@TripleESept24 I was worried last week I didn’t have enough either, mainly for warmer weather, so I ordered a few more vests and short rompers from vinted just to be on the safe side. We’re not having anymore after this baby so I’ll stick it all back on vinted afterwards lol.

I just spent a good hour faffing in the nursery reorganising things that didn’t need to be reorganised, but I enjoyed myself in there 😂 there’s just 3 boxes left to build - the highchair with newborn attachment (so he can chill with us at dinner) car seat, and pram! Think I’m going to start those this week mainly to get rid of the boxes and to tick those things off the list.

Khanga27 · 04/08/2024 22:34

@HRP1990 can I ask which high chair? We have been looking at the Tripp Trapp with newborn attachment but haven’t committed yet so considering whether any other brands offer the same?

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 05/08/2024 04:53

@SpicyMoth Fellow PGP sufferer here, since week 15 (!). It's absolutely horrible. I've spent many days crying because I was in agony and no one understands and it's made me feel really lonely. I have a great private physio who I have been seeing, she manipulates and massages me but the relief is very very shortlived. I've also put on loads of weight as I've been barely able to move + depression because of pain makes me eat lol. PGP is the devil. I've been swimming too but it doesn't really help.

Take it really easy, if you overdo it you will be stuck with it postpartum apparently.

Nothing helpful to say except I really get it!

We’ve got a Tripp trapp with the newborn attachment but all from fb / Vinted, so it’s a fraction of the price. We got it all for our toddler, then have just got another second hand Tripp trapp for this baby. They are fab, would really recommend.

SC126 · 05/08/2024 06:53

@Khanga27 i think its hard to advise without knowing which car seat you have and how old it is. I think most car seats have a shelf life of about 6-8 years. Not that they can't be used but its not ideal after this time. Newer car seats are I-size now due to the newer regulations so you might have an older regulated car seat which again can still be used but regulations were changed to increase safety of course.
There's a car seat safety group on Facebook which can be helpful but take some of their advice with a pinch of salt as I also find they can come across rude to some people on there.
One baby car seat I like is the maxi cosi cabriofix I-size. Its cheaper than most but doesn't have the 360 function or lay flat function but I personally think these seats are expensive and not needed for the baby months but that's just my opinion and some people love these functions. Its also compatible with many prams but you would have to check this against your own pram.

We had the Bugaboo Giraffe that we used with my daughter from toddler, so can’t speak about the newborn attachment.. This time we were given a Cybex Lemo with newborn attachment. Looks great but obvs haven’t used it yet!
