@TTC1990
Depends on the brand of tests! I think with my first, the test line was slightly darker than the control at 15dpo on an FRER.

I would do the scan at 8weeks. It seems so far away I know but you'll have much more reassurance after that scan.

dancingfairy1 · 11/07/2024 08:49

@SharingEasesWorries It may be best to just stay off the forums to reduce the anxiety till after first trimester.

Morning everyone,

Just after a bit of advice. At how many days DPO, or weeks pregnant, did you all get your dye stealers? I found out at 9DPO so the line was very faint, it is getting darker but I wondered when I should expect the test line to be the same as the control? I’m now 4 weeks (12 DPO) today.

Also recommendations whether to book the early scan for 6, 7 or 8 weeks? I can only really afford to do one early one!

Thanks guys! X

I tested when my period was 5 days late and had a dye stealer
With my first I had a dye stealer when my period was 3 days late

I think I’m going to book an early scan for a couple of weeks time when I will be 6+4. I would try and wait longer but the difficulty is it’s my 30th a few days later and then I’m having a party, and if something is wrong I don’t want it to happen on or a day before my 30th.

I also have the difficulty of going to a bottomless brunch with friends a week Saturday. They will inevitably ask why I’m not drinking and I’m not very good at lying 😬 I will probably tell one friend before hand as she knew about my chemical last month. But I may just say to my other friends something like “I don’t want to say anything just yet”. I don’t want to cancel as it’s a celebration for a few of their birthdays.

Nataliedb87 · 11/07/2024 10:04

Hi all,

I found out on Tuesday that I’m pregnant. It was the third IVF transfer attempt and it finally worked!!! Still in shock. Never thought I’d see that second line. Was starting to think my body wasn’t capable of it. Now all of a sudden everything changes eeek. How’s everyone feeling? Is anyone worried about the miscarriage stats? Suddenly makes me think I can’t get too excited yet. Nx

Could you speak to the brunch place and ask them to bring you a non alco lookalike - maybe they have some nosecco?! No one needs to ask anything then :)

…we are meant to be away with 3 couples for a week in aug and I’m not at 12 weeks until sept. Don’t know how will get through that.

Hi everyone
Not sure if anyone can help me but I’ve just had some bleeding and quite worried, I don’t really know what to do, is there someone I should call?
My first pregnant was IVF and I was told I had a higher chance of ectopic pregnancy so I’m quite worried, I’ve also had shoulder pain and just seen that’s a symptom of ectopic pregnancy. I don’t know who to contact if anyone.

MrsWindrush · 11/07/2024 10:33

@Nataliedb87 we're also going away on holiday with 3 other couples in August when (by my reckoning) I think I'll be about 9 weeks. I'm just going to tell them - it's too hard/stressful to try to hide it for a whole week of living together, especially if I'm not feeling 100% at the time. It helps that one of the others is also pregnant and just 3 weeks ahead of me - she told me just before I got my positive test!

I would phone your midwife or your local epu.
It is always better to go in and not needed to go in rather than need to go in but not so have a low bar for reaching out.

I thought that. But I am trying to concentrate on positive aspects as much as possible. And it helps when you can interact with people in more or less same boat as you, it definitely helps.

Hang in there, bleeding can be normal, it can be any number of things, inc old blood making its way out, a subchorionic haematoma or cervical irritation.

You should ring 111 or your hospital Early Pregnancy Unit. They may advise you to go to A&E to get booked/referred, or may book you for a scan directly.

Shoulder pain is a late symptom of ectopic, it basically means blood in your abdomen is irritating a nerve that runs to your shoulder, afaik. So you'd probably be having abdominal pain as well. But get yourself checked out ASAP for peace of mind.

GlitteringCat · 11/07/2024 11:11

Anyone else at 6 weeks not really had symptoms? Boobs are a bit sensitive and tired but other than that nothing. I’m always tired too and don’t know if I’m more than usual.

Been having brown bleeding/ spotting since Sunday so had a scan Tuesday at 6w3d and all was fine and we saw the heart beat. I have a small heatoma which may be behind it. I was measuring a bit small at 6 weeks but they said when it’s so small this can very easily be off a bit.

Was maybe just expecting more symptoms after 6 weeks.

Thanks , thanks made me feel better. I have called my EPU and they said they have no appointments until Sunday and to go to A&E if concerned. Not sure how concerned I should be to go if that makes sense. My husband is away and nobody to watch my little boy so I guess I’ll just hang in there with my fingers crossed and see what happens.

msbrightside2 · 11/07/2024 13:16

Hi Northtosouth I'm sorry to hear you are having a worrying time. It sucks that the EPU can't see you today, they must be stretched very thin. Have they booked you in on Sunday? When I had my ectopic I had a lot of pain in one side before the bleeding started. Go with your gut about A&E, it sounds hard with no one to help with your little boy x

Bailleee · 11/07/2024 14:15

Hi Everyone :) I would love to join! I am just over 6 weeks, I have had some bleeding over the last week so I had an early scan at exactly 6 weeks and everything was perfect with the baby and I saw the heart beat

Zuzu2020 · 11/07/2024 14:58

Hey guys..

Had my booking appointment over the phone yesterday.
Went well except the midwife kept saying how I've gotten pregnant too quick after my last pregnancy. Dd was 1 in March. She kept saying I shouldve left it 18 months. 🤷‍♀️😂

Shes also put me in to have extra growth scans as 2 of my 3 were apparently low birth weight.

Hope everyone else is OK.

Some women are already pregnant at their 6 week check haha I'm sure it's fine! Glad all went well xx

Melusina123 · 11/07/2024 15:22

Aw man @Zuzu2020 my LO was 1 at end of April, am I going to get told off? 😂 In all seriousness though Emily Oster responded to a question about this recently - https://parentdata.org/qa-interpregnancy-intervals/ . I'm 38 so didn't want to mess about, and it happened a bit quicker than expected...!

Glad all went well!l at the appt otherwise!

How Long Should I Wait Before Having Another Kid?

I’m having difficulty finding info on the risks/benefits of different interpregnancy intervals. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends counseling “about the risks and benefits of repeat pregnancy sooner than 18 months...

There's what you do in an ideal world and then there's life!

Look at some of the super big families they have lots of 11-17 month age gaps.

How silly, it's a bit late to tell you off now! I had a c section with my DD (also turned 1 in March) and they told us to wait at least 12 months to conceive, but ideally 18 months. I found it very tone deaf to parents who had to go through IVF for DD! But here we are with a surprise natural conception 😂

Nataliedb87 · 11/07/2024 18:35

Does anyone know what the deal is with scans etc? I have a scan with my ivf clinic at 7 weeks and then they leave us to it. What’s standard with NHS and are any of you paying extra for private tests? Are they worth it?

MrsWindrush · 11/07/2024 18:38

@Nataliedb87 standard with NHS is scans at 12 & 20 weeks only, some NHS trusts also offer a 36 week scan (I know the JR in Oxford does) but otherwise it's pretty minimal! I'll have a private scan at 8ish weeks for reassurance and then if that's all ok hopefully will just be in the standard NHS system...!

Northtosouth · 11/07/2024 19:48

@Nataliedb87 with my first pregnancy we were signed off from our IVF clinic at 7 weeks however I had some bleeding at 9 weeks and they booked me in the same morning for another scan with them. Not sure if it’s the same everywhere but they were still available to us in the first 12 weeks.

I also had an extra growth scans towards the end on the NHS as it was an IVF pregnancy, not sure if that is standard with all hospitals or not.

MrsWindrush · 11/07/2024 20:02

@Nataliedb87 my first pregnancy was also IVF and it felt very strange doing the transition across to standard NHS services! We ended up paying for the NIPT test privately at around 11 weeks for reassurance which I think we'll do again. Didn't get any extra growth scans though.
