Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

@TripleESept24 ive been feeling braxton hicks for a while now, it isn’t painful. Just uncomfortable at times, I just feel my belly tightening

@MudandMoet i feel the same, I’ve said to people don’t buy clothes if you want to buy something for the baby. I love babies in baby grows, so any outfits would probably go unused, plus babies grow so fast. We have had a lot of knitwear gifted though which I love. Babies in knitted items is just the cutest

PinkWatermelon88 · 11/07/2024 22:34

@MudandMoet I get ya girl! I had four family members create baskets for us full of nappies, wipes etc and I ended up donating 3 as they were the exact same things. We saved a lot from our first baby that we can use with our second. Otherwise donate to pals, donate to women’s refuge centres or sell a big sack for like €50 on FB marketplace. You’ll find your own way :)

Honeyandsunshine1 · 11/07/2024 22:39

😍😍😍 you’ve been truly spoilt @MudandMoet how lovely! She’s clearly very loved already.

Also, I know it’s a lot but think of the endless Vinted sales you’ll make when she’s outgrown everything 🤣 you can have endless takeouts!

FuppinNora · 12/07/2024 01:54

Some shops you can swap sizes, that's what I did with my 1st, I changed them for 6-9 months and 9-12 because just like you I love babies in babygros 😍

Lillers · 12/07/2024 07:29

Morning all, got my first consultant appointment today after the GD diagnosis. Not really sure what to expect from it. Reading stories on the GD Facebook group, seems to be a huge range of “it’s exactly like a normal midwife appointment” to “you’ll get booked in for induction and put on medication and probably made to feel like a bad mother and cry.” So hopefully I’ll be closer to option 1 😂

malimoon · 12/07/2024 07:36

Good luck @Lillers , let us know how it goes!

Xur · 12/07/2024 07:54

@Lillers good luck today!!! I hope it goes well!!

@MudandMoet I have the same white knitted kimono jacket with the trousers (with the bear face on). I actually bought it because I have not enough of trousers. Pretty much all of my baby wardrobe so far are sleep suits, majority are with long sleeves and I have some with short but I have barely any trousers. I looked at that set and thought “these trousers will go with any baby grows and the jacket will fit for a long time because it’s a kimono” 🤣🤣
Today I have another delivery inbound from Frugi, they had end of season sale and I purchased some more sleepsuits 🤣

HRP1990 · 12/07/2024 08:47

@MudandMoet aww what a loved little girl she is already! It’s raining here, but there’s not much I can do in the nursery at the moment so I’m going to join you and wash some tiny baby clothes 🥰

Alternatively from takeaways if you want something more nourishing lol “cook” meals were really appreciated at gifts. I think they do postpartum packages and you can just chuck the meals in the freezer. Really handy in the newborn days when you can’t be bothered to cook!

MudandMoet · 12/07/2024 10:34

@Emmaev ahh me too, my ex MIL is knitting some baby bits and I'm really looking forward to receiving those 🤍

@PinkWatermelon88 definitely will donate to women's charities. I do generally so it'll be nice to think in a few months I can go with lots of baby things.

It has definitely made me realise (as I've perhaps been guilty of this in the past) that, like some of you have said, it's more the things like, a bit of house help, meals and maybe the odd hour or two of time out that is more valuable than anything material.

Good idea on swapping up sizes too! Spread it out over the year more 🙌🏼

@Xur it's cute isn't it and like you say so neutral.

@HRP1990 ahh thanks I'll have a look anyway (because I'm lazy) but my stepmum has told me to empty my freezer these next few weeks because she's going to batch cook us some meals ready for the week we get home from hospital. Im usually the one that spoils everyone so it seems really strange to be on this end of it. I'm not good at accepting help too, it's quite overwhelming tbh.

PinkWatermelon88 · 12/07/2024 11:29

@MudandMoet actually you just reminded me of something…. This time around I’m going to buy a pack of newborn grows in 0-3m and the same ones in like 9-12m. Just to see the transition and growth between the sizes and to rekindle that baby love bubble :) :) :) may be an idea for you if you’ve double items swap for the same outfit but just for a bigger size xx

Wanderlust86 · 12/07/2024 12:09

Hello again everyone! I don't think I've commented since around thread 4 but I'm always lurking reading the updates daily. Can't believe we are all nearly there.

I think I've lost my mind as we have just bought a house in a different city. We officially move in one day before my due date, so I'm not sure which hospital she will be born. Either my hospital where I work and have had all my appointments or the one where we are moving to.
My midwife who has been amazing says it's not a problem to just turn up to either. They both have badger notes so can access my info.
We will have the keys from start of August to start lifting carpets, painting etc so I will make sure I have a hospital bag in the car at all times.

I'm 32+5 now and battling a bit with PGP but generally feeling pretty good except constant leg cramping and tiredness. Bloods show low ferritin and hb so midwife mentioned I might need to go into the day unit for an iron infusion. Being vegetarian probably has not helped.
Last appointment showed baby is head down so hopefully she stays that way.

At least the last month or so of pregnancy will go fast with so much going on 😃

Wanderlust86 · 12/07/2024 12:11

@Honeyandsunshine1 your 2nd birth sounds perfect! I will get on the dates soonish.

Lillers · 12/07/2024 13:22

Not entirely understanding the details yet but the consultant has some concerns so I’m now in triage waiting to be seen - been told to expect a long wait. When I know what I’m doing here I’ll update again!

For those thinking about batch cooking, I did a load of batch cooking last year when we had our kitchen replaced as we’d only have use of the microwave for a couple of weeks - I used giant freezer bags to store the food instead of Tupperware/tubs of any kind in order to maximise space. Worked brilliantly and also was quicker to defrost!

RosiePH · 12/07/2024 13:28

Hope everything is okay @Lillers!

Xur · 12/07/2024 13:35

eeeek!! @Lillers I hope it’s just a precautionary visit 😬

PinkWatermelon88 · 12/07/2024 13:48

Wishing you posi vibes @Lillers x

MrsM89 · 12/07/2024 14:51

Hope all is okay @Lillers did you have a scan aswell or just consultant? Fingers crossed for you. X

longingtobe23 · 12/07/2024 14:54

I think it’ll be one a day until Monday ….

September 2024 - Thread 8!
tryingfortwo2 · 12/07/2024 15:13

Hope you’re getting on okay @Lillers!

@Wanderlust86 that sounds like a lot, but im
sure it’ll be worth it if it means bringing baby home to the new house, rather than moving with a newborn! Plus all your lovely “firsts” will be in your long term home, rather than leaving them behind if you moved later. We moved when dd1 was 9 months old and I found leaving her first home and bedroom to be the most emotional part. Also, you’ve probably already heard and tried this but I was having horrendous leg cramps through the night, and my FIL told me to have a class of tonic water before bed.. totally cleared them up! Now I only get an odd niggle, and can shake it off before it develops. After weeks of middle of the night tears, I still can’t believe it’s working!

mrsbgb · 12/07/2024 15:27

Hope all okay @Lillers!

@tryingfortwo2 definitely going to try the tonic water trick, leg cramp has been driving me insane the last few days. My bladder is still holding on overnight but been waking up in agony with cramp!

On ready meals, we’ve had quite a few from By Ruby during this pregnancy as my husband was working super long hours and I was too knackered to cook. They’re really delicious, I’d recommend!

What are people batch cooking? I tried to make a list earlier and got as far as lasagne, then ran out of inspiration!

Honeyandsunshine1 · 12/07/2024 15:32

Hope the dates serve you well @Wanderlust86 💕🤞🏻

and hope you’re ok @Lillers!! 💜

Also good shout on batch cooking. Can anyone recommend some tasty meals I could do? My go-to is always bolognaise which I could eat until I’m blue in the face, however it would be good to have some others to lean on 🤔

Honeyandsunshine1 · 12/07/2024 15:35

I have my 32 week scan in 1.5 hours. Head up or down do we reckon? Apparently head up 4 weeks ago but I’ve been bouncing myself silly on a birth ball so if that hasn’t worked then she’s probably going to stay wedged under my ribs with her 90th centile head circumference 🥲🤙🏻 (I know they don’t worry until 36 weeks but I am a professional catastrophiser 😁)

Wanderlust86 · 12/07/2024 15:45

@tryingfortwo2 I totally forgot about tonic water. Off to the shop I go because the cramps are driving me mad. Thanks 😊

HRP1990 · 12/07/2024 15:55

That’s exciting @longingtobe23 what is it you have to build, is it a whole furniture bundle?

I took the gels off my toes today (that I did at 25 weeks) and omg it took me about an hour. At 31 weeks I’ve officially reached my limit. It’ll be a salon visit next time 😮‍💨

tryingfortwo2 · 12/07/2024 16:19

@mrsbgb @Wanderlust86 i’ll keep my fingers crossed the tonic sorts you ladies out too! 🤞🏻

Batch cooking.. with my first I did a couple of different curries, chilli, veggie chilli, bolognese (lentil and mince varieties, which could then be used with jacket potatoes or pasta), sausage pasta bake, lasagne, gnocchi bake, and fajita mixes. I did most of them, like the pastas, gnocchi lasagne, to the point just before you’d put them in the oven, then put them in foil trays in the freezer. That meant when I defrosted them I had written the instructions on the cardboard lid (e.g. bake for 45mins at 180) and they could just be shoved in the oven.

It was great but I feel like we made an error - we used them in the first few weeks, like as soon as we got home, but actually probably should’ve saved them for when husb went back to work! By that point they were almost finished and I could’ve really used it as I adjusted to life at home alone.. so this time round, we’ll save as many as we can until after pat leave ends and cook fresh when we can when both of us are around.
