Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

Absolutely loving all the bump pics 😍!!! Joining in with my bump today at 31W+

Luckily I don’t have any issues with the in-laws other than my mother-in-law often trying to get me eat to more food than I am willing to, but that’s pretty standard for many ladies that age. I am sure I will be the same when I get there.
In our case it’s my family that are the looney tunes 🤦‍♀️. To my husband’s delight we live in separate countries from them so the distance helps.

@HRP1990 I have had the pains, where do you have them? If they’re right under, like where the vaginal wall is that’s the pelvic pressure pain (too much activity or too much sitting), if it’s on the side it could be the muscles pinching/ detoriating.

This is my last full week at work, my holidays that lead into maternity start from the next week’s Thursday.

Here’s another bump, ignore that I’m already in my jammies 😂.. 31 weeks today! Less than 2 weeks left at work now too thankfully as I’m in pain and exhausted.

Everyone's got such lovely bump pictures! Thought I would join in with a distance pic of bump and how I spent my evening cooling down after another afternoon hooked up to the monitor in mat triage today as baby wasn't moving again this morning. Got my scan tomorrow so really hoping it shows he's just facing inwards which is why he's vanished 🤞🤞

longingtobe23 · 08/07/2024 19:53

@rupertbear91 ooo to be in the sea 😍👌
sorry you’re a triage regular
i have felt different movement for sure since baby went to transverse … my mum keeps pestering me about 10 kicks in 2 hrs … but I just get little jiggles or movement or rolls now as she’s kicking my low anterior placenta haha. Only when I’m in bed do I feel her legs!
it has been a stressful time so I hope your little tinker is doing the same / just in a quirky position! Xx

PinkWatermelon88 · 08/07/2024 20:37

What week are you packing your maternity bag again ladies I forget from first time haha. 36 is it?

Xur · 08/07/2024 20:58

@rupertbear91 by the way I have to say that mine also doesn’t kick as strong as used to before and I blame it to position. I think his legs are up in my stomach or like sideways. I can see his back pushing against my belly. Like when I view it from top. He would alternate from one side of the belly button to the other. Today before the gym his back was on the right side and after the gym it was on the left side. My most often reminder of him since he’s been in this position is the pressure on my urine canal and my bladder. Sometimes I just feel a pressure down there like he’s about to open my belly up like a window and let in some fresh air 😒 the change in kicking sensations is rather obnoxious at times but I have a Doppler at home, so when I’m concerned I just check his heart rate (wether it’s in range and wether it sounds strong enough)

MudandMoet · 08/07/2024 21:28

@Decaffe it was from primark last week! I haven't been to town for yonks but went for hospital bag bits, called in for some bigggg momma pants, saw it and was like yeah that's a bit of me that is! £12 I think!!! Have spent a small fortune on maternity wear this last two months and I think this is my favourite! 🤩 it's a size 14 and I'm around 5ft 4"

malimoon · 08/07/2024 23:30

Loving the bumps! Here's mine (28 weeks) at my friend's wedding this weekend (it was outdoors so beautiful but a bit chilly hence the blanket!). Funny to do a wedding completely sober with all my pals getting gently drunk around me but I had a good time 😅

I am fuming after today’s midwife appointment.
I raised the matter about possibly changing hospitals for giving birth to a one with better feedback and historically better ratings and my midwife came up with every reason under the sun to not do it. Tried to talk me out of it, said she won’t be able to book remaining scans for me.
Convinced me to wait till end of July.
I asked about water birth said probably will not be allowed because I have low papp a on my case (even though I don’t have any effect from it). Said I would definitely not be allowed in the hospital I want to change to because there’s larger distance from the birth centre to the main birthing ward.
I asked about options to upgrade to private rooms for money was told that’s not a thing anymore.
Basically every query I had was dismissed.
She also did not update anything on my app from todays appointment , I don’t see my blood pressure, growth chart. She said I had a growth spur on the belly but said it like it’s a bad thing, I asked if it’s normal she said “can be”.
I give up honestly.

Cat2022 · 09/07/2024 11:12

@Xur sorry your midwife isn’t being supportive. Also have low Papp-a and was told from the start that if my growth scans are fine I can have whatever type of birth I want so don’t accept what she is saying about it. In my area if you don’t agree with what they are saying you can ask for an appointment with the charge midwife to discuss your birthing preferences so maybe your area will have something similar. I’m not a fan of my midwife either it’s very frustrating.

MudandMoet · 09/07/2024 12:28

@Xur sorry you've had a shitter of an appointment. I think sometimes it seems the midwife forgets it's all new to some of us and so run of the mill to them that they lose that compassion and understanding. What's your next move with it all? Will you still change hospitals now?

I've just got back from a 32 week (32+6) growth scan. Baby is growing well. She's ducked slightly below the 50th centile line but hardly anything. They're averaging her at 1915g (4lb 4oz) it's weird to think at my next growth scan we'll be booking in for the induction!

RosiePH · 09/07/2024 12:58

Had my 28 week appointment today but the internet wasn’t working so they didn’t want to do any of the measurements as they couldn’t be recorded and the right blood tests ordered. Waiting for a call to go in for another one, but they only run the clinic once a week so I guess it will end up being next week now.

But I did get to hear baby’s heartbeat again which was nice! She said he’s very happy in there.

For anyone expecting a c-section and wanting a black button-up nightgown, Tesco is your friend! Picked up a lovely soft jersey (well, viscose!) one today for £16. I sized up 2 sizes so it won’t be tight or too short.

TripleESept24 · 09/07/2024 13:06

We took baby girl to see Kings of Leon last night!!

She was wondering what the hell was going on bless her not sure it was dancing but more prodding like what the hell is going on out there!!

They played knocked up which they don't normally play which was funny 🤣

mrsbgb · 09/07/2024 13:59

Weird question but how is everyone’s belly button doing?! I noticed this morning that mine looks like it’s about to pop out any day now 😬 bump still doesn’t look particularly large I think but clearly he’s running out of space in there!

malimoon · 09/07/2024 13:59

@RosiePH thanks for the nightie tip, off to Tesco I go

@TripleESept24 the wedding I went to at the weekend had a ceilidh band and the baby was bopping around like crazy, he's a natural dancer hahahaha

SC126 · 09/07/2024 14:08

Prams been delivered today. I’ve spent an hour building it up and it all feel exciting now.

@mrsbgb my belly button is about to pop too sadly. But it did in my last pregnancy so I’m hardly surprised.

HRP1990 · 09/07/2024 14:51

@mrsbgb I can see mine through clothes now and I really don’t like it 😂🤢

Xur · 09/07/2024 15:38

@MudandMoet well, I’m going to see if I actually see a consultant in my next scan appointment next week. Last time I went in for a consultant appointment I didn’t see one, it was just a scan.
If I get to speak to a consultant I’ll raise all the same questions. I am also curious to see how big my baby will measure on scan, because fundal measurement today takes it to 60-70 ‘centile. Last appointment I was on the 20th, that was 3 weeks ago.
I am also under the impression that my scan has been moved one day further, I was sure it was on the 17th of July in my town and now it’s showing on the 18th on the app. How would it be possible for them to have me in with a consultant if the scan is in my town, my town doesn’t have the consultants in the hospital, I would have to go to the regional one, which is the one I am still due to give birth in.
Also, apparently my baby has turned around and is now breech.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 09/07/2024 15:44

Sorry to hear that you all understand the in-law pain 😬 @WinsandSam @longingtobe23 We have things like “We don’t get to see the kids much 😣” brings out tiny violin but, it’s not uncommon for me to see them spending the day in the city where we live, which they are absolutely entitled to but then there’s no need to the constant comments about how you wish you could see the children more, because you absolutely could if you wanted to?? You know where our house is, you have all our numbers?? We’re actually free more as my partner does shift work so has a lot of free time in between shifts, but you don’t try arrange anything so it doesn’t make sense. It’s just things like that constantly that are chipping away at me 😅😅

How does/did your husband feel about going no contact? @MudandMoet

@Xur sorry that your midwife is shit. You can request someone else, definitely advocate for yourself. I had a horror of a woman during labour in 2020 and it was the worst experience. I just wish I’d asked her to leave/change sooner 🙁 your low PAPP-A should be null and void now surely seeing as he’s growing absolutely fine?? X

Honeyandsunshine1 · 09/07/2024 15:46

Just seen there’s a new RSV jab coming out. What are everyone’s thoughts?

Neither of mine have ever had (touch wood) RSV in the past but my friends daughter did at like 1/2 and ended up seriously unwell in hospital so I’m considering it. Just slyly cautious of its “newness”. Although tbf, I had both Covid jabs during my second pregnancy as soon as it emerged and my 2.5 year old didn’t come out missing a limb or head like some scaremongering people tried to tell me 🤣

malimoon · 09/07/2024 15:47

@Honeyandsunshine1 i saw about the RSV vaccination and was thinking I will get it. I'm sure they wouldn't have released it unless they were sure it was safe!

HRP1990 · 09/07/2024 16:09

Is anyone worried about how they’re going to cope when the baby is here? In my case I’m worried about potentially having a C section, whilst having a toddler at home. I know I’ve got a while for baby to turn from breech to head down.. but I’m a planner 🙈 my partner only gets 2 weeks leave, and well, my mum has had my daughter (her only grandchild) for all of 2 hours since last December and I’ve been pregnant 7.5 months lol 🙃 we’ve got family local but none that really bothers to message/see us so I’m kind kind prepping to go it alone! Just wondered if anyone else is having similar thoughts?

rupertbear91 · 09/07/2024 16:22

Just had my growth scan baby weighing 3lb5 at 29 weeks. Seems to have inherited my partners long torso his abdomen is in the 96th percentile and legs in the 33rd 🤦🏽‍♀️
Couldn't measure his head as it's too low down already which explains why I am struggling to bend down so much!

Got my consultant appointment tomorrow so hoping she's happy with it all too.

@mrsbgb I literally said to my partner last night my belly button is on the verge of popping which means I will finally have to take my belly bar out 😭

tryingfortwo2 · 09/07/2024 16:22

@HRP1990 I’ve had thought too about how I’ll manage with our 2 year old and a newborn when my husband goes back to work.. we do have childcare 3 days a week but it still feels quite daunting. She’s currently at home with a fever and I was thinking today, how do you look after them both when one is poorly?!

@Honeyandsunshine1 @malimoon I got this email from Glasgow NHS trust just last Friday, so it looks like it’s still in the verrrrry early stages? I’m all for clinical trials, how else do we learn, but I’m not sure I’m as keen to involve the baby in one… a thinker!

September 2024 - Thread 8!
malimoon · 09/07/2024 16:29

@tryingfortwo2 hmm okay i thought it was all approved! idk, i will probably discuss with my midwife I guess

@HRP1990 i am lucky in that this is my first so i don't have another child to look after - but partner has also been planning ahead, he will only have two weeks paternity but has negotiated with work that he will do four days a week from september-december (not working wednesdays) so i will only have maximum two days in a row at home by myself during the week, which is really great. other than that i do have family locally but this is the first local grandchild (my brother has four in australia!) so we'll see how much involvement they want to have when it comes to it... at the moment i think i'll be okay and parents will be supportive but i guess we never know
