I have just tested positive today with a due date of 2 February. Have had a look and I can't see that anyone else has started a group for Feb yet. Is there anyone else out there who would like to join?

Hi Everyone I did a test this morning and it says 3+ !

I am a little bit worried as at the moment I've been feeling like my uterus is pinching / pulling and it comes and goes. Worried this might be ectopic pregnancy ! Does anyone else experience this ??

I have been feeling like this for the last few days and I think its so easy to get in your head about it all but I think just keep an eye on your symptoms and call the doctor if you are getting really sharpe pains that are ridiculously painful. Try and think positive x

Incidentally, @retrievermum, thanks to mentioning badgers, you are to blame for the traumatic flashbacks I am currently experiencing to Badger Badger Badger in the early days of the internet. Showing my age there 😂

Haha I also remember badger badger badger. What a throw back.

I had paper notes in both my previous pregnancies, I don't have much faith in my trust to have gone digital yet 😂 but maybe I'll be surprised

Any older mums on here? Discovered I’m pregnant, (6 +5 currently) at the ripe age of 42! I’ll be 43 when they come along around 5th Feb. An absolute shock, suffered secondary infertility after my first who will be turning 10 in Sept. Still not sure if its something that our family can cope with but taking one day at a time and have a 7w scan booked in on Saturday to see if its even there. I don’t really have any symptoms, but I didn’t with my first either. Congratulations on everyone’s pregnancies, it would be lovely to feel joyful too but I am scared it’s all just a bit too late ☹️

LilacSnail · 20/06/2024 20:17

Huge congratulations to everyone.

I’m struggling so much with hayfever. The pollen count is very high at the moment, really hoping it calms down soon.

@Latecomer81 when did you find out? Just wondering if you’ll feel a bit more settled once the news has had a chance to sink in. I’m 38 so on the older side pregnancy wise x

Ah that's really hard. Not in the same boat but know lots of wonderful mums who had their babies around your age including older. But also if it isn't the right decision for your family, that's okay too. Definitely take it one day and a time and be really kind to yourself.

Not the same at all but we weren't really trying for a 3rd and are still coming to terms with it all.

UrbanSquirrel · 20/06/2024 20:44

Hey @Latecomer81 and welcome to the group! I can well imagine it must have been quite the shock. Every situation is totally different and like others have said you must do what's right for you and your family. In the meantime, as you figure it out, we're here for you without judgement, whatever you decide 🤗

If this goes through, I'll turn 40 just before our baby comes. First pregnancy - and to be honest we're both bricking it that we'll be on the older side. But I guess we'll just have to figure it out 😂

Sending much love. Whatever you choose, you're among friends x

Thank you so much for your words of reassurance. I would have been very happy to have had another at 40, many of my friends did, I don’t know why 43 seems like that little extra bit too far for me. I think my partner is moving towards not going through with it, which I can understand, as my head is saying that too but I’m the one with the hormones and my heart is saying something else. Such a predicament. We won’t make any decisions until after the scan and the Harmony test which I think I can get at 10 weeks, as that will obviously affect decision too.

Hello, I'm just over 6 weeks now. I've had a little bit of spotting, maybe 2-3 drops of blood every 6-12h for 1.5d? I'm 44 and I've never had a miscarriage. Do I just see how I get on? I presume the EPU won't be too worried if I don't have history?

Hey! I’m 6+5 and also have spotting, it’s been on and off the past week and very light, only occasionally on wipe.
My understanding is that it’s completely normal to have spotting at this stage. It’s only an issue if it starts to get heavier, red and is accompanied by cramps and/or back ache.
Hopefully your spotting disappears soon!

I found out on May 31st and tbh I haven’t a clue what to do. I keep thinking I’ll wake up and have a strong sense but I keep swinging like a pendulum back and forth. 38 is a great age, that’s what I was hoping for but nature had other ideas!

Shortcake06 · 20/06/2024 21:49

@LilacSnail glad I’m not the only one struggling with hayfever. Normally I’d be popping antihistamines. Sneezed at least 100 times today I swear I was about to crack up. Have you found anything else that helps?

Roxttc · 20/06/2024 22:30

Sorry in advance if this is TMI 🙃 Is anyone struggling with being intimate since finding out? It’s so silly I know but I’m just so worried after sex I’ll bleed - we usually have a good fairly active sex life but we’ve only done it a few times since finding out and I feel so on edge when we do! Keep thinking maybe when we get to 12 weeks I’ll relax again a bit but don’t know how to talk myself out of this anxiety around it!

LilacSnail · 20/06/2024 22:33

@Shortcake06 it’s so frustrating isn’t it?!
I’d also usually be popping antihistamines too. At first it looked like Loratadine was ok to take so I took one a week or so ago. Only to turn over the box & see ‘don’t take if you’re pregnant’. So I haven’t done that again.
I’ve been googling & it says showering the pollen off. Also try to reduce time outside between 5-10am when pollen peaks and ideally don’t dry your clothes outside as they’ll be covered in pollen. None of these are really very helpful…. has anyone had any luck reducing the symptoms?

I have a question about NIPT/ Harmony testing. Does anyone know how it differs from the NHS screening? I was a bit surprised to see they are screening for the same things but I might have become a bit muddled there x

I've been popping loratidine every day! 🫤 I've gone off the NHS website.

Yes, I'm an older mum. We have the same due date. We already have one, with SEN. I'm 44, will be 45 by the time the baby gets here. 🙈

It's much wanted but the increased risks do make me worry. When we found out though, DH started talking about how long we'd have to wait for number 3. 🤨

UrbanSquirrel · 21/06/2024 06:31

Good morning everyone! How's everyone feeling today?

LilacSnail · 21/06/2024 06:38

@Latecomer81 I wish I had some useful advice for you.

@Mamma364747 it’s good the NHS website says it’s ok!

@Roxttc feeling fairly similar at the moment. We haven’t since I found out. I’m also worried it will cause bleeding. I know it’s silly, but I don’t want to add to the potential worries at this stage x

NoisyBee · 21/06/2024 06:59

T0r11210 · 21/06/2024 07:04

Hi everyone I’m 4 + 2 (16dpo), found out 5 days ago. Loving my much fuller boobs but not loving the evening bloating and insomnia I’m having. Really struggling to sleep and HR through the roof 🫣

Congratulations! I am too worried about higher risk. Are you getting all the tests? I need to research which ones you can get at what weeks. Obviously the earlier the better but I’m worried some of the more accurate ones can’t be done til week 12, I could be wrong though. Any advice?

Good morning everyone! How's everyone feeling today?

Morning. How are you?

My bleeding slowed alot yesterday but still passed a clot. This scan on a Monday can't come quick enough.
I've actually got an appointment with gynae this morning(I was referred last year because of heavy periods) Just unsure if they will even do anything now because I'm pregnant

Missingcoffee22 · 21/06/2024 07:20

@UrbanSquirrel I have just consistently been feeling like I have a hangover

UrbanSquirrel · 21/06/2024 07:21

@Latecomer81 I'm booked in for an advanced NIPT at 10 weeks. It's private, and expensive, but if something is wrong I'd rather find out as early as possible. The test covers all three of the trisomies plus a list of other potential issues, and it can tell you the sex of the baby.

Here's the one we're getting:

windowtothewomb.co.uk/private-baby-scan-packages/nipt-advanced/

We're going to haemorrhage money for a bit, but it'll be worth it if we can go into our 12 week NHS scan already feeling that bit more reassured and confident.
