I have just tested positive today with a due date of 2 February. Have had a look and I can't see that anyone else has started a group for Feb yet. Is there anyone else out there who would like to join?

@somethingabouther Yes. I'm coming to realise that early pregnancy is just one long run of feeling extremely anxious! You're doing incredibly well to have kept it to yourself so far. I told my husband right away, which made me feel much more supported, although he's incredibly anxious too 😂

The thing to remember, I think, is that we're suddenly in a position where we have absolutely no control over what's happening in our own bodies. We can do all the right stuff, and think positively, and it'll make absolutely no difference to what's going to happen in the next few weeks. And that's scary! I'm no good at being patient - I like to know everything I possibly can - I like to plan - and I like to have things in order - and for the first time in quite a while I have to completely give up any sense of control.

So don't worry about feeling anxious. Most likely almost everyone here is feeling the same. Even those who already have children will be wondering how the dynamic will change, I guess. So you're among friends!

Talking of which, I guess you could take one of two routes.

  1. Confide in your friends, so that you have emotional support for the weeks ahead.
  2. Or, if you want to be more cunning about it, I would consider (assuming it's this coming weekend?) creating a sudden flare-up of cystitis a few days beforehand. Then - oops, what a shame - you end up having to be on antibiotics while you're away, and won't be able to drink 😉I find cystitis is a good excuse, because people will either be immensely sympathetic, or so embarrassed to have pried into your business that they'll just let it go.

If you take that route and you've never have cystitis yourself, just DM me and I will be very happy to provide you with some authentic sounding details!!! 😂x

Does anyone feel super anxious? I’m not sure what I’m anxious about whether it’s the pregnancy or the future or telling everyone but ever since I found out at the weekend I’ve just felt so anxious and I’m not usually a massively anxious person! Planning on telling my husband tonight now I’ve had it confirmed on a clear blue instead of the cheap tests, hoping that will help with some of the anxiety!

I’ve got a girls trip abroad next weekend which I think is adding to it, worried about travelling and sickness and I don’t want to tell the girls yet as I’ll only be nearly 6 weeks, but if I’m not drinking it’s going to be so obvious! I was tempted to cancel but it’s been booked for nearly a year

Edited

I've just come back from a holiday with in laws and was anxious about going and hiding it, in the end I told them after about 1 day saying it was super early but there's no way I would have got away without drinking for 10 days. They have kept it to themselves and felt like a massive relief so may be worth discussing it with some of your friends if you feel it's right to.

Hi ladies - I have an early scan at the EPU today, due to previous losses, and I'm so nervous and feel so sick about it. I'm only 5w6d but I actually think I ovulated early as I got a positive test 5 days after predicted ovulation so hoping I'm a little further along and they can see something. Last MC was a blighted ovum I think so my fear is they tell me it's just an empty sac.

I don't know if it's normal or something to worry about but CM looked a slightly different colour this morning, I wouldn't say it was brown or pink but it definitely looks a little discoloured and not totally clear - this has freaked me out and I think could be the start of a MC.

Will update after the scan although I don't want to share bad news on an otherwise happy and excited thread

Hope scan goes well. Please share an update, I only joined MN yesterday and already feel like this is such a supportive group. Definitely here for the ups and downs.

I'm still brown spotting today, it's got quite stringy? If that's the right word. So I'm sort of accepting that something isn't right. I spoke to the GP who said she would speak to EPU but they probably wouldn't scan me this early and because I'd already had a scan so know it isn't ectopic.
The waiting continues.

Rading everyone's updates and knowing we're all in a similar boat is really reassuring. Thank you!

Hettycan · 19/06/2024 13:07

Thank you for the support ❤️
I had the scan and they measured me at 5w6d which is actually what the Flo app says and I saw a tiny heartbeat, I can't believe it, I was so prepared to be told they couldn't see anything. Obviously not out of the woods but it is reassuring and I didn't see a heartbeat with any of my previous losses.

I am a little worried that although I'm measuring where the Flo app says I should that means I got a v v v faint positive 5 days after ovulation, is that even possible? I thought I must have ovulated earlier and therefore might be a little further along by now.

They have also prescribed me progesterone due to previous losses, even though it all looks fine, and booked me in for a rescan at 8 weeks which I thought was kind as that is literally just to help with my anxiety and not medically indicated.

But to the other women who have no symptoms and can't really believe anything is happening in there, that was me and there really was a tiny bean and a little heartbeat!

WildFinch · 19/06/2024 13:23

@Hettycan that's such lovely news! Hopefully it has reassured you a bit. Thank you for updating us!

Lemonbalm8 · 19/06/2024 13:26

@Hettycan how lovely to see those early days of baby. Hope everything goes well as usual. As to the worries on measurements, I'm sure they didn't say anything even if slightly bigger as it's very inaccurate this early on. Even in my first pregnancy, at 7 week scan (due to bleed), I was measuring few days earlier and they just kept the same dates.

UrbanSquirrel · 19/06/2024 13:35

Congratulations @Hettycan that's great news. So pleased you were reassured! Ditto on the difficulty of accurate dating at this point. I was measuring a week behind my Flo date, but no one seemed worried! Probably by week 8 you'll have a clearer idea. But very, very happy to hear that all went well for you, and hope you can relax a bit more now x

superj21 · 19/06/2024 14:21

Congrats @Hettycan 😊! How amazing and so glad all is looking good. I've booked a private scan for 9 weeks and it feels like eternity away still.

Roxttc · 19/06/2024 14:28

@Hettycan Congratulations glad to hear everything went well today I know the anxiety doesn’t seem to ever go but hope that’s reassured you! I have my first scan in 2 weeks at 9 weeks and already very nervous for it! Would go earlier but am going away

Hannah0198 · 19/06/2024 14:38

Hi all,

I am 4 weeks tomorrow so very early and obviously not told anyone in fear of the what ifs before 12 weeks. Due 27th Feb.

Its my first and I am feeling so anxious - I don’t want to be negative as it is super exciting but how have you dealt with the worry of the what ifs (miscarriage, ectopic, etc). In need of some advice, TIA xx

I'm still getting weeks 1-2 indicator. When did people move to 2-3?

I think it was around the 5+2 mark. I found out I was pregnant at 4+6 (when it was 1-2) and I went up to 3+ at 5+6.

Edit: Looking at those dates now, it doesn't make sense at all, as they changed a lot over a single week - which just shows that the tests aren't completely reliable in terms of progression timings!

I should be 4+0 or 4+1. I know it's early but I had 2-3 in my MC at 4+0, can't help comparing.

Oh wow, that's so strange. I bet you were pleased to see the progression! I wish these tests were not so expensive, but I'll try again in a day or two.

Hi @Hannah0198,
Firstly, congratulations! I'm 5w+5 with my first too and completely relate to the anxiety. I've told my best friend and my husband but no one else. Would it help if you told a friend or family member?
Anxiety throughout pregnancy is really common I think. I try to keep busy, do my normal routine as much as poss. I've also avoided googling too much, easier said than done but if I do I only read reliable sources. Try not to dwell on the negative 'what ifs', without remembering the positive 'what ifs'. What if everything is fine?
All of this is easier said than done but the people in this forum have been really lovely too so you're in the right place.

Wait a couple of days, maybe you implanted late so could still take a while to see 2-3 weeks x

No real advice but just wanted to say I’m the same, have terrible anxiety! I’ve booked an early reassurance scan for the 7th July and just hoping I get to that date without any dramas. At the moment keep running to the toilet because I convince myself I can feel blood. So you’re not alone!

This is me! I went to the loo 6 times in the space of 2 hours to check. I think cause I have lower abdominal pains which I have been told is normal and related to implantation - I started to get in my head that the pain was only on one side so must be having an ectopic pregnancy but its across the whole of my lower tummy.

Missingcoffee22 · 19/06/2024 18:17

Hi everyone. Not read everything back yet but I'll post now to mark my place 😊 I am about 5+5 I think, with my 3rd. My daughter is 4 nearly 5 and my son is 2.5. Not quite sunk in yet that we're adding to the chaos...

Bluebell91 · 19/06/2024 18:46

Hettycan · 19/06/2024 07:49

I haven't really had any symptoms either and it definitely adds to the anxiety! Like you a little bit of brief nausea in the mornings, and I do feel more tired - but that could also be the anxiety and early mornings!
At the very start I had a very heavy feeling in my uterus for about a week but that's gone away now and just a little bit bloated, but again iv eaten more carbs and sugar than I usually would so that's probably why!

Same! I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm dreading the scan 🙈

I think it was end of week 4 (probably 4+5) for me, but then it took over a week (5+6) to reach 3+. So do think it’s very unpredictable!!
