@MixedCouple2 - oh that’s frustrating. Mine has a very different priority list to me which means we sometimes clash on this sort of thing, our son’s “toys for daddy to fix” pile just gets bigger and with moving there’s been a lot of “can you help me with X” and then he disappears for ages and I find him unpacking a different room that I hadn’t prioritised. We’ve been in for 2 days now and the kitchen is still in boxes.

on textbook pregnancies - I think the rule book may as well go out of the window tbh. Last time I round I was told I was young, healthy and fit and we’d likely be looking at MLBU and overdue baby and instead I had a 28weeker due to very severe pre-E. This time around has been panic stations due to my history and being older and I’ve breezed through (relatively). I just don’t think there’s any way of knowing what will happen with these babies.

CheshGirl · 23/06/2024 07:46

Doula training - not SOUL Grin

But probably a similar education to be honest!

ceruleansky · 23/06/2024 08:20

Does anyone know if mild period cramps are a normal sign of the uterus growing around this time or is it a sign of something else? It's kinda radiating where the pain. It does feel constant, just the intensity changes, but nothing crazy.

I've felt them the past few evenings but today it's been all day since I woke up. I'm only 34+5 so I don't think it's labour?
Also my stomach is not tightening and I did have a back ache yesterday but it was the upper back and to the side so I don't think it's labour related or contractions..

AnonymousXXIX · 23/06/2024 08:30

@Morningcoffeeaddict my DH is exactly the same! I'll be like, we have got to hoover the house, crumbs everywhere... And he'll vanish without a word to go do ironing! 😵

@ceruleansky I'd check in with my midwife or the midwife unit at the hospital for reassurance 😊

missmoosh · 23/06/2024 09:01

@ceruleansky how strange I was literally like I’m going to see if anyone has had any mild period pains before googling!
35+1 today and did a lot of walking yesterday. Been having a few mild period cramps last for about a minute and my tummy does go hard. Totally irregular though and don’t get any worse than mild. Im think either Braxton hicks, even though mine has always been painless/uncomfortable. A little bit of prodromal labour or maybe dehydration as it’s a bit warmer now!

Cherubs4 · 23/06/2024 09:22

So much to catch up on!

Terrible carpal tunnel here from around 34/35 weeks. Can't remember exactly anymore. Midwife explained that it's fluid build up and will dissipate after birth. Will struggle with little romper buttons as it is now so hoping it will go quickly. Agree with sleeping with arms hanging off the bed to ease the pain. Cycling is a big trigger for me, think it's my steer, luckily my mum has come to stay so can do child school drop offs. Very grateful to have her over. Had inlaws a few weeks agi but that was more nightmare than helpful (think wearing their shoes in the house and expecting to be waited on...)

Those considering vbac, my last birth was vbac and I was induced at 42 weeks. You really need to be determind to do it vaginally as the induced contractions are relentless and extremely painful. I was so glad I did it in the end but hope to do it without induction this time.

@ceruleansky those cramps you're experiencing sound like the uterus preparing. Back pain is often the baby trying to get down into the pelvis. That's why labour with back pain is often a sign of a back to back baby.

ceruleansky · 23/06/2024 09:43

@AnonymousXXIX
Yup I wanted to consult but I thought I'd wait and observe for some time since I'm able to function normally.

@missmoosh
Okay so it's normal, again, to experience at this time since we're both feeling it. Although your stomach is tightening so that could be Braxton Hicks as you said..
Do let us know if anything changes! I think it's good to share and keep up with any symptoms at this point! Unsure if it's dehydration in my case because I'm just constantly chugging water (acid reflux).

@Cherubs4
Sorry to hear you're going through carpal tunnel as well. It has definitely ramped up at 34 weeks.
Can resonate with you on the in laws thing, sounds so entitled in your case! Don't we all just want some mental peace and help. Why's that hard to understand!
Hmm, perhaps there's a chance I'll go into labour before my planned section, which is scary but I'll accept it if it's meant to be, since baby is already head down since 32 weeks.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 23/06/2024 09:59

@AnonymousXXIX - exactly that, and it’s so frustrating because I can’t really get mad as he is doing something productive just not the thing I want him to be doing!

@ceruleansky - definitely check in with your midwife, I have zero experience but I’m sure they’ll have some sensible advice.

@Cherubs4 - that’s so frustrating about your in laws. It’s my mum that’s like that in our set up. She was messaging today about when she can visit after baby is born so I made a vague suggestion but said I don’t know if our guest room will be ready with moving and she said “oh I won’t stay long, you’ll have enough to be getting on with” so she’s obviously got no intention of being helpful when she’s here - sigh

Jess725 · 23/06/2024 13:49

Ahh goodness more of us with carpal tunnel.
so sorry to those suffering. I’m still so confused it’s a pregnancy thing 😬 crazy!
Mine was horrible this morning, the heat must not be helping! First time I’m actually grateful for my freezing cold terrace 😂
(first time buyer/reno/hoping to sell asap sufferer 😂)

keep us updated on symptoms ❤️

how’s the July group already born bubbas and mommas doing? ❤️

Amberellaella · 23/06/2024 21:43

@ceruleansky and @missmoosh I’ve been having what are probably best described as ‘twinges’ the past couple of days but they sound similar to your experiences… Baby is still moving fine so I’m not worried, it is weird though because I didn’t have this last time. It was just nothing and then in labor! We’ll see… maybe my July baby is just ramping up to be a June baby instead 😂

Alas @Jess725 we have an overly-insulated 70s box so I’m almost always too hot!

I’m knackered from solo wrangling DD all weekend, thank goodness it’s a nursery day tomorrow. My only plans are to read and sleep ☺️

ceruleansky · 24/06/2024 07:19

@Amberellaella
Hope everything goes okay on your end and you're not too uncomfortable! When is your due date?

My tummy is rock hard today. Just been a slob, unable to get out of bed, even to shower, feeling weighed down. I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow. I can't believe it gets worse!!

Amberellaella · 24/06/2024 10:27

@ceruleansky ah, give yourself a day off! I got up at 6:30 as usual, got DD ready for nursery and then went straight back to bed when DH had gotten her in the car! If anyone needs me I’ll be on the couch for the rest of the day ☺️.

I’m technically due July 11th, but have an induction planned for the 4th (because I am 42) unless my growth scan tomorrow shows his growth has continued to slow, in which case it’ll be this week instead.

I think I’d rather get the process started this week so I might request going early anyway, even if growth looks fine tomorrow. I’ll be 38 weeks on Thursday.

ceruleansky · 24/06/2024 12:33

@Amberellaella
I have all the days off I'm on mat leave already! That's nice, you deserve that rest after all that activity yesterday!

Oh my, so close to meeting your little one! 😀 How do you feel?
So they've planned your induction at 39 weeks.. will they induce you earlier than that?

ceruleansky · 24/06/2024 13:35

Both the sides of my tummy still hurt and tummy is still like a rock. Idk if this is one long Braxton Hicks contraction, doesn't seem to be going away.

Amberellaella · 24/06/2024 13:39

I’d get yourself down to maternity triage @ceruleansky. If it’s not going away, e.g. when you change position x

Morningcoffeeaddict · 24/06/2024 14:54

@ceruleansky agree with the above - definitely get yourself to triage. They’d rather you check in with them just in case

Cherubs4 · 24/06/2024 22:16

Are you okay @ceruleansky ?

SapphireSeptember · 24/06/2024 23:41

Sophie3003 · 21/06/2024 03:55

@SapphireSeptember sorry I have not been following everything but in my previous pregnancy my very risk adverse GP suggested piriton to help me sleep- he didn't like me taking anything so I would imagine that is the safest!

Ooh, interesting! I might try that, as I'm not sleeping very well at the moment. Too uncomfortable!

SapphireSeptember · 24/06/2024 23:46

Jess725 · 21/06/2024 23:38

Oh the itching!!! Don’t get my wrong I’m super happy it’s not ICP but I do wish I could take something more for it. Change of clothes, temperature, awake, asleep - it’s honestly driving me mad! Going to look more into what anti histamines I can take, I thought I couldn’t take them 🫢 thanks for the tips ladies! ☺️

I hadn’t heard of the clicking either! Wow sounds wild!

i also hadnt heard of pregnancy related carpal tunnel - which kindly joined me two days ago 😂

hope you’re all hanging in there. 38 weeks in a few days, eeeeek!

Yup, I think it's me. (there's several theories, mum's ligaments, baby's joints or air bubbles in the amniotic fluid popping.) I bent over earlier and heard the same noise, so I reckon it's my ligaments.

They like to tell you you can't take them, but I think that's arse covering. Probably because it was been tested so they err on the side of caution.

SapphireSeptember · 25/06/2024 00:01

ceruleansky · 22/06/2024 03:41

@SapphireSeptember
Aww, I'm glad! Babies are so cute when they're chonky!
That's sweet of them, I'm glad everything worked out after seeing the scan!
I see, those are valid points but you seem to have a good support system, which is the most important thing while navigating a new born.
Yup, I think that's something only mothers understand! Loving them before even meeting them! I don't think anyone's really ready! Even women who have had babies can have a different experience each time.
Yup, the tugging was definitely not fun! Good to know that all of these things go away by the end of the pregnancy!! 😭 Stay strong!💪

@Jess725
Also with you on carpal tunnel. My wrists hurt every time I wake up and try to change position but I'm not sure if I'm bending them all the way when I sleep.

They are! Can't walk to meet my little boy! 😍 I said to my mum about the scan and she said that's how they get you!
Yup! I know it's going to be hard, but I know it's going to be worth it.
Indeed! My mum said I was an easy baby, but my brother was a pain in the arse!
Oh, thank goodness! Somehow he still has room for wriggling around, even though he's head down now. Feels like a fish is in my tummy.
I finished my hypnobirthing course! Hoping for a natural birth, but I'll be in the birthing suite, and hopefully pool. I like the idea of home birth but my mum disagrees for first baby, as do I. I like knowing if something goes wrong I'm next to the maternity ward. Trying to avoid being induced, my sister and one of my managers both had an awful time after being induced. Plus I know how they do it now and I hate the idea! 😅
Good luck with your C-section! ❤️
Thank you, you too!
Feeling very tight today, and I'm struggling to move around, such fun!

SapphireSeptember · 25/06/2024 00:30

MixedCouple2 · 23/06/2024 00:45

@Morningcoffeeaddict yeah it is. I asked DH to enquire but we have so much on and in true fashion he left everything to Last minute.com.
We have had no car since August!!! Since August and he just purchased a new one today! Today! 🤦🏻‍♀️
He is washing the carpets tomorrow! When I asked him months ago.
I gave him a list of things. I can't clean the oven anymore due to bump + chemicals it has not been done since I was 3months (natural stuff didn't quiet cut it). So I am doubtful anything will happen.

@AnonymousXXIX I had no idea about night sweats PP. Wow that's interesting.

I don't feel like I bonded with bump much. Due to toddler. I try to connect when toddler goes to bed. Hit or miss if bump is awake or not theae days.
So I can't wait to meet him in 4 weeks.

@SapphireSeptember I can't take any antihistamines they all make me drowsy including Loratadine which means they will most likely impact baby as a smell amounts cross over the placenta. I been suffering with an annoying Hayfever rash. Eveey year I get it in backs of hands but my feet are worse. Like red bumpy hives itchy like mad. Been using Calamine lotion which helps and teying not to wear socks.

I am in Wales and the "heatwave" is meant to be 22-24°c umm so just a mild summer then 😂
How I miss pre 2021 when we had proper long summer days and a mo ths of sunshine.

Oh bloody hell, that sounds dreadful! Didn't know antihistamines cross the placenta, but the one I've been taking doesn't make me drowsy.

SapphireSeptember · 25/06/2024 00:39

@CheshGirl Sounds like you and my hypnobirthing friend would get along like a house on fire! 😊

I had a brief appointment with the obstetrician the other day and she said my placenta could fail if baby is overdue. Doubt baby will be overdue (he was conceived in the last week of October, not at the start, I can't even remember when my last period started anyway!) But I'd only had sex once between the end of my last period and finding out I was pregnant. I did remember the date, and now I've forgotten. But I remember thinking 'I bet I'm going to get pregnant from this' and lo and behold I did! 😂 It that what they call manifesting?

ceruleansky · 25/06/2024 04:42

@Cherubs4
Thank you for checking on me.. 🥺
I'm fine, it was extreme bloating and indigestion with Braxton Hicks. The indigestion was causing painful stomach cramps and the hardness coupled with breathlessness and nausea.. Thanks @Amberellaella @Morningcoffeeaddict

Amberellaella · 25/06/2024 06:17

Oh good @ceruleansky! Have they prescribed Omeprazole? Might be worth a try since you might have more than a month left! Gaviscon Advanced is also better than normal Gaviscon and Rennies for extreme symptom relief x

Morningcoffeeaddict · 25/06/2024 06:27

@ceruleansky - glad you’re ok! That sounds really uncomfortable for you though - hope you’ve got something to help it pass!
