@SapphireSeptember sorry I have not been following everything but in my previous pregnancy my very risk adverse GP suggested piriton to help me sleep- he didn't like me taking anything so I would imagine that is the safest!

Cattattack · 21/06/2024 14:03

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all getting on okay in the heat 😰 I’m struggling to keep cool and I know it’s not even mighty hot yet!

Has everyone had their birth plan discussions? It’s been an interesting one for me! I have decided to go for a homebirth and the birthing pool arrived today! I’m quite excited to get that blown up and chill in it before the time comes - start maternity leave the week after next (I’ll be 38 weeks) and I’m just so excited with all the swims, walks and nesting I’ve got lined up 😂

I’ve heard we are in a strawberry moon phase alongside summer solstice at the moment - which aligns with energy of fertility a new beginnings! Thought I’d just share that little nugget of fun!

Jess725 · 21/06/2024 23:38

Oh the itching!!! Don’t get my wrong I’m super happy it’s not ICP but I do wish I could take something more for it. Change of clothes, temperature, awake, asleep - it’s honestly driving me mad! Going to look more into what anti histamines I can take, I thought I couldn’t take them 🫢 thanks for the tips ladies! ☺️

I hadn’t heard of the clicking either! Wow sounds wild!

i also hadnt heard of pregnancy related carpal tunnel - which kindly joined me two days ago 😂

hope you’re all hanging in there. 38 weeks in a few days, eeeeek!

ceruleansky · 22/06/2024 03:41

@SapphireSeptember
Aww, I'm glad! Babies are so cute when they're chonky!
That's sweet of them, I'm glad everything worked out after seeing the scan!
I see, those are valid points but you seem to have a good support system, which is the most important thing while navigating a new born.
Yup, I think that's something only mothers understand! Loving them before even meeting them! I don't think anyone's really ready! Even women who have had babies can have a different experience each time.
Yup, the tugging was definitely not fun! Good to know that all of these things go away by the end of the pregnancy!! 😭 Stay strong!💪

@Jess725
Also with you on carpal tunnel. My wrists hurt every time I wake up and try to change position but I'm not sure if I'm bending them all the way when I sleep.

Amberellaella · 22/06/2024 06:38

@Jess725 and @ceruleansky carpal tunnel here too… I tried sleeping with a splint on because we happened to have one in our house but it didn’t help…

ceruleansky · 22/06/2024 08:43

Had my appointment today, my elective section is booked!!! The doctor available on 12th and 15th July to perform the surgery so I have to decide which date I prefer. I'm so shocked I have a date already! I'm going to meet my baby in 20 days, possibly, I could cry! 😭😭😭

missmoosh · 22/06/2024 09:11

@ceruleansky amazing news! Which date do you think you will go for?
I have my induction scheduled for 20th July, so seems I will be one of the last on here to have their babies 😂😂

bringmearainbow · 22/06/2024 09:14

I've had carpal tunnel since about 16 weeks I have to sleep with both hands in splints or I wake up to painful hands that are very dead I can't wait to sleep without wrist splints 😂

ceruleansky · 22/06/2024 09:19

@missmoosh
So excited for you!! When was your original due date? My due date is 31st July and I was last in that list of due dates on this thread, but I didn't want to go into spontaneous labour and my Dr said we are good to go any time after 37 weeks and if the baby's weight crosses 6.6lbs. Right now I'm at 4.8. So I guess the date depends on the baby's weight..! If we don't each the weight requirement we will have to wait I suppose, but so far we are on track.

@Amberellaella
Sorry that it didn't work out..
I wake up several times a night so I have to consciously straighten my wrists and open my palms. I've found that hanging my arms off the side of the bed helps, rather than keeping my palms under my head or close to my body..

ceruleansky · 22/06/2024 09:25

Also not holding my phone.. rather just using a phone stand or keeping my phone on a pillow on my lap and using it. I've been using it so much more since I got pregnant and I know that causes inflammation too.

Outliers · 22/06/2024 10:28

Anyone here with VBAC ambitions?

Nocoffeenotalkie · 22/06/2024 11:59

@Outliers me.
I have a C-section booked for 3 weeks ISH but am hoping to go by myself (have agreed to sweeps). Baby is very big though so will find out next week if that is still on the cards. They may say, she is too big to risk it so it'd be a section regardless 🤷‍♀️

wannabe123 · 22/06/2024 12:01

@Outliers me
@Nocoffeenotalkie my baby is measuring on the 97th percentile and I'm still allowed to try but have an induction booked for 3 weeks time

Nocoffeenotalkie · 22/06/2024 12:41

Mine is 97th too @wannabe123 so that's positive that sweeps will start then. They want me to give birth before 39 weeks (due to my age - 42) but I didn't want an induction.

Oatmilk1 · 22/06/2024 16:21

@Outliers
I do. I am due mid July and am preparing an out of guidance plan for a birth centre birth to try to achieve this.

I have no desire for induction and will decline all sweeps as well. 36w scan showed potential large baby so we are doing a week of blood glucose monitoring to understand if it is GD but sofar looking like it's all fine.

Regardless though, I don't plan to accept early c-section for GD or potential large baby - I can't see the evidence to support it. Unless we actually became unwell (ie. Neither is a problem until they are actually a problem).

Sophie3003 · 22/06/2024 16:58

@Outliers I am aiming for a VBAC. Hoping/have a PIP in place for a MLBU waterbjrth as guidance is delivery suite but met with MLBU and talked it through and got my PIP in place. Low risk at the moment but bar VBAC risks of rupture.

Sophie3003 · 22/06/2024 17:00

Also have sweeps booked from 37 as aware my best chance of a vaginal birth is to go into labour naturally and if I have to be induced that's a delivery suite job

CheshGirl · 22/06/2024 20:02

39 weeks on Tuesday with baby number 3.
Delivery will be a homebirth again like last time, will not be accepting any form of induction including sweeps but feeling very ready for baby to arrive!

Keep telling myself - Baby will come when baby is ready!

Anyone waiting for baby... read Dr Sara Wickham "In Your Own Time", it's brill.

Have had lots of braxton hicks and dull period like pains for a fortnight, but prodromal labour can be common in subsequent pregnancies!

MixedCouple2 · 22/06/2024 21:05

@Cattattack have nine on Friday at 36 weeks. My Midwife is coming to my house. With syringes so I can start Colostrum harvesting.

That's nice you got your pool. My midwives want me to try home births but I dont have the space or privacy. My parents are coming to take care for DS1.

I liked the midwife led unit as they only have 1 room so only I was there last time with 2 midwives and DH was very private.

MixedCouple2 · 23/06/2024 00:45

@Morningcoffeeaddict yeah it is. I asked DH to enquire but we have so much on and in true fashion he left everything to Last minute.com.
We have had no car since August!!! Since August and he just purchased a new one today! Today! 🤦🏻‍♀️
He is washing the carpets tomorrow! When I asked him months ago.
I gave him a list of things. I can't clean the oven anymore due to bump + chemicals it has not been done since I was 3months (natural stuff didn't quiet cut it). So I am doubtful anything will happen.

@AnonymousXXIX I had no idea about night sweats PP. Wow that's interesting.

I don't feel like I bonded with bump much. Due to toddler. I try to connect when toddler goes to bed. Hit or miss if bump is awake or not theae days.
So I can't wait to meet him in 4 weeks.

@SapphireSeptember I can't take any antihistamines they all make me drowsy including Loratadine which means they will most likely impact baby as a smell amounts cross over the placenta. I been suffering with an annoying Hayfever rash. Eveey year I get it in backs of hands but my feet are worse. Like red bumpy hives itchy like mad. Been using Calamine lotion which helps and teying not to wear socks.

I am in Wales and the "heatwave" is meant to be 22-24°c umm so just a mild summer then 😂
How I miss pre 2021 when we had proper long summer days and a mo ths of sunshine.

MixedCouple2 · 23/06/2024 01:14

@CheshGirl thanks for the link. Never heard of this lady before. But kinda collected this info from my research. Going to get the BMI one as my BMI is higher but wverything they said text book would / wouldn't happen has not happened to me. Especially as I carry my weight on my hips and thighs. They said I wouldn't feel baby. I felt baby from 10weeks I can see babies limbs as they move. They said I would have big babies my DS was 6lbs and 2nd is due to be similar. They said I would struggle with labour but mine was relatively quick for first pregnancy. 4cm - birth 9 hours. All natural and no tears.
So 2nd time around just ignoring all the "textbook" garb!

Jess725 · 23/06/2024 06:44

@Amberellaella @ceruleansky
sorry you’re suffering carpal tunnel too!
im also trying my best to keep wrists straight in the night.
ice seems to help with the pain and get my hubs to do massage my fingers towards my elbow in the morning (careful not to go other way!)
just the joint pain is unreal isn’t it!
We are nearly there 💪 xx

ceruleansky · 23/06/2024 07:33

@Jess725
Hope your pain eases with the massages and yes, we are nearly there!!

My GERD is off the charts since yesterday. Anything I have will set off a non stop cough with rising reflux which worsens the ribcage aches. It's always something, isn't it? Have tried milk, warm water, lemon water, etc. I have gaviscon in one hand and my food in the other. 🤕 living on oats and bananas for now.

Also period cramps are back, big whoop!

Sara Wickham is amazing, I've been to a few of her lectures throughout my soul training and she is the only person I've found that uses ACTUAL studies and just gives you the facts with zero bias.

Hard to find nowadays! X
