Hi all,

Had been lurking for a while and decided to finally join. I'm 32 and currently have no children. According to my app, I'm due on 9th Jan.

I had a MMC back in October which was our first time to try have a baby. It's reassuring to see a lot of you also saying you feel anxious and worried. Trying to be positive but it's not always easy! I have absolutely no symptoms apart from slightly sensitive breasts. Going to book a private scan when I'm around 7 weeks and hoping to get good news this time.

Looking forward to sharing our pregnancy journeys together. Stay strong all!

Hi ladies, I'd love to join this network of expecting mamas!

I am currently 5+3, according to my app due date is 6th January. This is my second pregnancy, I had a MC last November with my first at 9+2. Really anxious but still hopeful for this to be my rainbow baby! Unsure whether to have an early scan this time round as I am not sure it will offer me any reassurance, maybe not until I am past 9+2🤔.

ThelastRolo20 · 09/05/2024 21:28

Sorry to everyone in similar boats of pregnancy after loss. I think the question of early scans is hard! One baby passed at 9 weeks, so on the one hand it makes sense to wait until after, but also want early reassurance... I guess no matter what we do it's still going to cause anxiety

FFOXGLOVE · 09/05/2024 23:35

Can I join? 😻
im 6 weeks… ivf, first pregnancy but 7th transfer! I’m 39 as obvs it’s taken quite a while plus covid hold ups….
nice to hear about so many BFPs!!!
due date 2nd jan I think!

pinkbeanie · 10/05/2024 07:28

I'm having a scan this week at the EPU to see how many weeks I am. If that all goes well I think I'll probably want another one at 8 and 10 weeks as I had a MMC in March so at least I would know earlier if something had happened.

Girlmom2009 · 10/05/2024 07:35

Hi all can I join, due 11th January if calculated from ovualtion. This is my 8th pregnancy and only one successful 15 years ago! 🤍🤞🏼 I am 4 weeks 6 days according to my app! Had a early scan yesterday and could see a sac, and this is my line progression what to you think? Lines don’t seem to get darker now 🙈

Looking forward to meeting people with the same journey.

Congratulations! I’m the same dates as you!

I had an early scan with my son and found it really reassuring, so think I’m going to look at booking one again. I had it just before 8 weeks last time and it made me relax a bit seeing the heartbeat and everything in the right places!

SunflowerDream · 10/05/2024 09:00

@Firsttimetrier aw yay how exciting - congratulations to you too!

Yes I completely get that, and ordinarily I think I would do the same. Sorry to get a bit dark now, I went for an early scan with my last pregnancy at 6+3, saw and heard the heartbeat and was told everything was perfect and where it should be. Sadly, I still miscarried at 9+2, so I am unsure whether an early scan before that 9 week mark would offer me any reassurance anyway🙁.

Is anyone 4+6 and due around 10th January ? 🤍

Me too !

92Char · 10/05/2024 14:29

My thoughts on getting an early scan are that if it makes your mind more at ease then go for it. Personally, I'll be getting one because I know I'll just be thinking about what is going on inside. I got one at 8 weeks last time and told the heartbeat probably stopped around 7 weeks. It was upsetting of course but I felt better knowing it early on. With the public health system I would've had to wait until 12 weeks.

And I think in general pregnancy is a worrying time especially for those of us going to be first time mums, a little bit of extra checks along the way can be helpful.

The main thing we have to keep in mind is that we are pregnant today so just enjoy the moment, although I know it's hard not to think of the future!

Girls I get so confused as to why doctors/ hospitals go from the first date of your last period for the due date as do online date calculators, that makes me 6 weeks but I know the date we conceived is around the 11th of April which makes me 4 weeks. It's just confusing me 🤣 does it all change once scanned ?

Yes, your due date tends to be adjusted to baby's size 🙂

Once you get your 12 week scan you'll be given an estimated due date based on your baby's size which should roughly work out similar to your LMP if you have regular cycles.

Doctors go off as your LMP as that is the first day of a new cycle, so technically you are not pregnant for the first 2 weeks as conception tends to happen around 2 weeks after period. Think of it as "buy 38 weeks and get 2 free" 😂

SunflowerDream · 10/05/2024 21:39

@92Char the 12wk scan does feel like such a long wait to see baby. I was fortunate enough that my MC wasn’t missed, I had a heavy bleed which caused me to go to the EPU and get the confirmation. However, I know so many ladies have MMC’s so in that case, I would prefer to know if this has happened to me before the 12wk scan.

At the moment, I am thinking I might book a private scan in for just after 9 weeks, that will be a bit of a milestone for me as I lost my first at 9+2. I had a scan at 6+2 last time, all was well, but I still suffered the MC later on, so not sure having one this early will be any reassurance yet. But obviously, if I have any concerns at all before then, I’ll get myself to the EPU.

I got my booking in appt with the midwife for 19th June- I’ll be about 10+2- does anyone know whether this is this a bit late or fairly normal?

I think it depends on the trust. Mine is between 8-10 weeks so would be normal!

Depends on availability I guess. Mines at 8.5 weeks, scan at bang on 12 weeks 😊.

6 weeks today and wowza!!!! Symptoms are hitting me like a truck! I was so exhausted yesterday, I went to bed at 8 😬

SunflowerDream · 11/05/2024 12:08

Seeing lots of people talk about booking appointments, I’m 6wks on Monday and haven’t been contacted yet about when it will be… I guess all trusts are different so I’m not worried I’ve heard nothing yet but hopefully soon!

Is anybody else suffering from hay fever? I have it so bad at the moment and I went to speak to the pharmacist as the NHS website said that I could, and she just batted me away and said I need to speak to my gp. I’ve read online that they recommend loratadine as antihistamine during pregnancy - is anyone else taking this?

Firsttimetrier · 11/05/2024 12:17

@SunflowerDream I’m guessing you have referred yourself? My trust takes 10 days to get in contact with your booking in date, so I don’t think I’ll get anything until 9 weeks as I’ve only just done it.
