@TerryRose definitely worth checking, I had scans at two hospitals last week and they both said no kids but partner is fine.

I have had discharge too, partly haematoma but the midwife told me a symptom of around 7-8 weeks is more discharge so I'm hanging onto that for sanity.

Hi,
I’m currently 7+0 and just want to ask if anybody else has been suffering from vertigo/ extreme dizziness?
It’s only happened twice so far (first episode was 2 days ago then second episode has happened today). I’m waking up at night feeling really hot, as soon as I turn my head the room begins spinning really quickly and it really messes with me. Then the nausea comes and I have to be ever so slow getting up to get to the bathroom to be sick! But my head seems to be constantly on the verge of about to spin today and I just wanted to ask if other people have experienced this?
If so, are there any tricks to help avoid the spinning head/ dizziness? Or is this all just part and parcel of being nauseous?
This is my first pregnancy so trying to figure out if this is common or not…

Hi! I have this!
The vertigo and the overheating.
I spoke to my neuro as I have FND and its one of my symptoms from that anyway and she confirmed it was also a pregnancy symptom.
No advice as I have never managed to get it under control (other than check your pillows etc and move slow!)

I’m 8 weeks tomorrow and feeling the exact same with the dizziness, accompanied with this constant dull headache all day. I’m on anti sickness tablets now but as soon as I try walk around the house the dizziness kicks in and I feel like I’m nauseous anyway! Spending most my time in bed as I WFH. Sorry I don’t have any advice but wanted to let you know you’re not alone and if anyone does have tips please send them my way too!

m8ybeb8by · 04/06/2024 18:40

@bootsroots

Thank you so much for these tips!! Super useful and the plan is to keep my head down and low and try to say no where i can. I'm going to wait until 16/20 weeks before I share the news with work as I am waiting for a promotion so hopefully no one guesses and I keep my head low!

Scbaby · 04/06/2024 19:29

Hi all! And congrats to you mama to be’s! I have just requested to join the WhatsApp group - due 15th Jan if my dates are correct :)

Have a private 8 week scan on Thursday which will hopefully confirm so really looking forward to that! Suffering from really bad morning sickness past few weeks but on anti sickness tablets now. Dizziness is horrendous though! What is everyone’s symptoms? How long did they last for?

WanzieMrsA · 04/06/2024 20:53

Has anyone heard of or tried magnesium for nausea?

Apparently it works wonders 🤷🏼‍♀️ so I have read.

I have. Doesn't work. Sorry 🤣

bootsroots · 04/06/2024 21:34

@m8ybeb8by good luck with the promotion. Great idea to keep it to yourself for a while if you can. Even seemingly progressive employers are not immune to pregnancy discrimination sadly!

Vik27 · 05/06/2024 06:36

Has everyone got an appointment through for the booking appointment? I’m 8 weeks but haven’t heard anything but I don’t know if it’s too early to get in touch and question it yet. In my area we have to go through our gp surgery to get referred.

It’s crazy how maternity and EPU services differ depending on where you live! It really is a postcode lottery x

I shared on another thread that I've been using the Inessa Pregnancy Multinutrient as my prenatal and one of it's claims is that it reduces nausea due to a delayed release of organic ginger. I'm also on Calcium and Magnesium supplements.

I'm yet to experience any nausea so perhaps it's as a result of these things, but perhaps it's also my various IVF and immunology meds or perhaps I have it all yet to come lol...

Feeling for all you ladies struggling with it though and hopefully it all starts to subside soon

Lemonyfire · 05/06/2024 07:19

@Vik27 as someone else said it's a postcode lottery! I live in London and it is ridiculously quick, due to a miscarriage last time I held off doing the referral until I had a scan as had to cancel everything last time. But did my referral and with 20 mins was booked for my 12 week scan and booking in appointment ( I'll be 10 weeks) I think depending on when you sent your request it may be worth a chase up to check you're in the system

Hi @m8ybeb8by I'm in the same boat and it's just hard, you had my sympathy. I'm wondering how I managed this with my first pregnancy because the long hours and high stress and periodic nausea and exhaustion are just hard to manage. To cope I've:

  • lowered my standards a bit. I focus on getting things done, presenting as I can and keeping an eye on the lowest level I can deliver. It's not the moment to win any prizes.
  • trying to mentally detach a bit - at least for a few weeks. Having a bit of a performance lull is no big deal, and in all likelihood won't even register with others or appear in your numbers (depending what you do of course)
  • keeping an opaque keep-cup or similar at your desk so if you need to be sick, you have an option.
  • I found it helpful to think of middle aged men going through divorces/having breakdowns and how often people don't see they are neglecting work for ages. It's probably the same with pregnant women, haha - not sure if that will provide the same comfort to you, but it used to help me.

I just found out it's twins this time around, so I'm panicking a bit (both because it's a lot to get my head around and because the symptoms are going to be twice as bad). I have a big presentation in a few weeks and worried I'm going to throw up in front of a big crowd.

Good luck - you'll get through it. Everyone muddles through!!

Twins!!! How exciting. Congrats. Can imagine that is a huge shock but I think they share such a special bond which will be amazing. Hope you're doing well

WanzieMrsA · 05/06/2024 10:41

Regarding my previous post about magnesium for sickness.

I can now confirm it does not work 🤣🤣

🤢

Hey everyone, I’m new on here and due 2nd Jan 🫶🏻 So happy to have found this chat x

92Char · 05/06/2024 15:30

Went to the hospital today about brown discharge and lower back pain which had been concerning me. Very pleased I went as it gives you some clarity. Baby is measuring 9w1d. Feel relieved.

LS888 · 05/06/2024 16:03

@92Char thats reassuring to know. How much discharge did you have? Was it just over one day? Sorry if you don’t want to share but I’ve had some today and don’t know whether to call.

ohpoowhatnow · 05/06/2024 16:48

Ladies that have had early scans, where they transvaginal or abdominal, I'm 8 weeks and thinking of getting 9 weeks and was wondering what it would be

92Char · 05/06/2024 17:15

@LS888 I've had brown discharge for 10 days now. It's not a lot but it is a bit worrying to see it everyday and I'm glad I got it checked. She said it is actually quite common during early pregnancy.

@ohpoowhatnow I had an abdominal scan this time and I would say at 9 weeks they are well able to pick up a lot through the abdominal scan.

When I had a MMC at 7 weeks last October they did an abdominal then internal ultrasound but I think they did an internal to be 100% sure there was no heartbeat. The transvaginal is not uncomfortable at all I would say it's quite bearable so don't worry either way.

LS888 · 05/06/2024 17:26

Thanks @92Char I will see what happens tomorrow as it’s only been a tiny bit today. Thank you.

@ohpoowhatnow I had an early scan last time at 9 weeks and it was abdominal but she couldn’t get a clear image so I had an internal one too. I think generally from 9 weeks it’s an abdominal one though.

ohpoowhatnow · 05/06/2024 17:33

@LS888 @92Char thanks both, I thought that might be the case, but will plan for having to take my pants off too 😂😂

bootsroots · 05/06/2024 17:44

Thanks @belleissmart !! I am still processing. I was really not expecting to see twins on screen but it was so immediately obvious that I said it before the scan lady did, haha. I'm terrified but also excited.

The nausea hit me really badly today. So much worse than last time. It's going to be so hard to hide this from work for the next 5 weeks 🤢

LS888 · 05/06/2024 18:18

@bootsroots twins - how exciting! 🥰 My friend had twins and a 2yo little boy last year and it took some adjusting but they are just gorgeous! I think we would have liked the idea of twins the first time around but hoping there is only one in there this time! My husband’s grandmother was a twin so it does run in the family. Are there any twins or your family? Hope the sickness eases soon for you 🤞🏻

Sopshef · 05/06/2024 18:40

@ohpoowhatnow mine were abdominal too, at 7 weeks and 8 weeks.

I'm so glad it's Wednesday, halfway through! I don't want to go to work anymore haha, I just want to stay in bed and snack and occasionally cry.
