Hi everyone and welcome to thread 3.
Please ask if you’d like the link to the private Facebook group. It expires after a couple of days so I won’t add it to this post.
If you’re new to the thread, we are a friendly and supportive bunch all in it together and hoping to welcome our new additions in November 2024!

Just had my booking appointment. Weirdly, when I turned up the receptionist gave me a normal pee tube to do a sample, but then once in the midwife appointment they had a different tube they prefer to use with a red cap (something about cross contamination??) so a bit of miscommunication between reception and midwife there.

We booked my 12 week scan (I'll be about 12+6), and I also have a midwife appointment booked at 15 weeks. Took just over an hour but this is my first ever pregnancy and my medical history was pretty simple too.

I also now have a prescription of cyclizine too. Looking forward to picking that up tomorrow to get me through the bad days. Had my exemption certificate through on email right after too, so that's nice.

I've just had my scan - it's bad news 💔 the baby isn't growing and the heartbeat is slowing down.
I've left a message with my local maternity unit because they'll need to take over now.
I've cried a bunch and told the wee one thank you for being with me. And lots of other things too.

So sorry. Sending you strength to get through this. I hope you have good support around you xx

So sorry about the bad news. 💔 Wishing you the best going forward.
I hope everyone else is doing well. I feel bad posting this now, but just wanted to update...

We had the first scan today and everything is perfect. 🥰 8 weeks as expected. I am very relieved for now. Hoping that relief will carry me over to the next scan!

That’s lovely news. Ours is later. Eek. I’m so nervous for some reason x

Sparksi · 11/04/2024 15:53

What’s everyone doing at the weekend? I really want to make some nice plans but don’t know what I actually want to do… or will feel up to doing?! I just would rather not have another weekend round the house. Inspiration appreciated!

Thank you. I was nervous too! Good luck!

1yearplan · 11/04/2024 16:32

That's lovely news @Bratzy. @Sparksi you'll have to let us know how you get on.
My scan went well. The little one is measuring 9w6 days now. He/she was waving its little arms and legs around. It was just the sweetest thing. I'm just so relieved everything is okay at the moment. I'm booking the NIPT test for the weekend. I'm looking forward to finding out if it's a little boy or girl.

Firstbabymumma · 11/04/2024 17:22

Hey everyone!
Iv just joined the thread, I am currently 8 weeks today! Due the 21st November with our first baby🥰I am absolutely over the moon and so excited but SO nervous too, we have a private scan booked for next Saturday as I’m too impatient to wait for 12 weeks lol!
I feel absolutely exhausted constantly, I gag at nothing almost all day which drives me mad lol my breasts are really tender too! The beige diet is very much in full force for me as well!! I’m trying to see having these symptoms as all good signs each day that little baby is growing as they should be🤞🏼☺️ x

piechipsgravy · 11/04/2024 17:38

@1yearplan @Bratzy glad your scans went well! @Sparksi good luck with yours!

Bratzy · 11/04/2024 18:18

Thanks all. 😊 Congrats on the positive scan also @1yearplan I'm jealous you're that far along. 🤣

Welcome and congrats @Firstbabymumma, we have the exact same due date!

Firstbabymumma · 11/04/2024 18:25

Sparksi · 11/04/2024 18:38

All looking good with lil bean. Measuring 8+2 (so I was spot on!) and strong heartbeat of 178bpm which she let us hear for a couple of minutes 🥰

Also found out I have a tilted uterus! Which she said makes no difference at all but just means they need to dig in a bit more for scans. I wouldn’t know as I’ve not had a smear test yet but she said they will also probably be uncomfortable.

I completely missed thread 3, can't believe we are on page 11 already! I've yet to catch up.on everything but for those that have had bad news I have seen a couple of posts I'm really sorry.

I had my booking appointment today, it took ages over an hour but she was incredibly thorough and feel like a lot has changed since my first booking appointment 4 years ago now. Annoyingly I will have to have a consultant review as my BMI has put into the obese range (knew this was coming and has been a battle I've been fighting and losing for past few years since my first so not a huge surprise). Also going to get the exemption certificate via email not the post like last time, and as in rhesus negative they'll do a screening for baby's blood type when the time is right and I might not have to have the Anti D injection.

It was incredibly positive experience, just waiting on my scan appointment from our hospital and all being well will see my midwife again at the end of May.

CurlyWurly1991 · 11/04/2024 18:42

@Sparksi congratulations on your scan!! Please don’t worry about having a tilted uterus. Mine is very tilted and ultrasound and smear tests etc they always comment on it, but I don’t have discomfort with smears. It’s just a variation of normal!

UnravellingTheWorld · 11/04/2024 18:43

@Sparksi do you have awfully painful periods? My mum had a tilted uterus as a teen and had debilitating cycles, then after having my sister at 21, her uterus "corrected" post partum and she never suffered again.

Mumtobeno2 · 11/04/2024 19:10

@Sparksi just seen your post! Hello little bean, amazing news! X

taytay2020 · 11/04/2024 19:13

@sparksi Another tilted uterus here! Weirdly, it was mentioned at a scan last year but hasn't been commented on again since despite having literally another 10+ scans for IVF. My smear tests are never painful so don't worry about that. I'm glad your scan went well!

@sparksi I've got a birthday coming up and DH has asked what I want to do. I feel like going out to eat is a non-starter as I'm not on good terms with food right now. He suggested inviting friends over for board games (one of whom knows, the other doesn't) but I honestly think I'd prefer to get out of the house for a (short) walk and some fresh air! I've hibernated on the sofa enough lately. Have you got somewhere nearby that you can go for a nice nature walk this weekend?

Bratzy · 11/04/2024 19:30

Firstbabymumma · 11/04/2024 18:25

@Bratzy ahhhh how lovely!! Congratulations to you too!! How’re you feeling?!

Very tired all of the time lol. I haven't thrown up in a few days, which I'll take as a win. If I let myself get hungry then the nausea is bad.

@Sparksi Congrats!
We have had a few scans today. Any others coming up in the next days?

Cazzy87 · 11/04/2024 20:13

So update rang my community midwife instead of my gp surgery and now got booking appt for sat at 1pm so that's better! I'll be 7w +4. I am nervous but can't wait to get our 12 week scan date!
I have a feeling @Mumtobeno2 ill be the same as weight is always my issue and I'm in the obese bmi too but I know sounds weird I'm overweight but never had any health problems!

Mumtobeno2 · 11/04/2024 20:40

@Cazzy87 I think there are a number of factors that can put you forward for consultant led and I think the review is like the initial stage, they could decide at that point as you're fine physically and in good health that you can go back to midwife led. They might not even flag it Im not sure where the threshold is for BMI and consultant led.

I think age, BMI, other medical conditions can all mean consultant and as pregnancy progresses you can find yourself consultant led for other reasons. This has just been pieced together from information from other friends who have been consultant led and today's appointment. Not sure how helpful or relevant it is but thought I'd share x

Bubble17 · 11/04/2024 21:10

I have also had a scan today at 8w6d (after two early scans at EPU after bleeding) have been so anxious all day and convinced myself I had bad cramping etc and I think it was just a nervous bowel 🤣🙈
All was good and baby measuring 9w0d so one day ahead (on early scans was a few days behind so has caught up!) I'm hoping I can start to believe it's happening now and might start to relax a little 🙏🏼🤍

My heart goes out to those with bad news and sending lots of love to those with scan upcoming x
