Hey guys, new thread for the April due dates.

Looks like the other thread maxed out before someone could make a new one, so I'll tag a few people and then if they could tag a few and they tag a few and so on, so we can try and get everyone in.

There's no way I can get everyone tagged myself, it's a nightmare on mobile.

Ahhh amazing @ASGIRC congratulations!!! X

Hopefulfirstround · 30/03/2024 13:16

@ASGIRC huge congrats !!!! I just lost my mucus plug and it has a little streak of blood , so I might go into labour sooner than expected 😱

ASGIRC · 30/03/2024 16:08

@Hopefulfirstround Thats exciting! My friend started losing her plug on a Saturday morning, and her baby was born on Monday morning! But it also could be a bit longer!
I never lost mine, but I had an elective c section at 38 weeks.

BuzzybeeMum · 30/03/2024 19:17

So exciting to see everyone starting contractions and some even giving birth! Congratulations 🥰

As I get closer to the birth I get more anxious that something might go wrong, or something might be wrong with my baby… is this normal? I hadn’t been worried up until a week ago and suddenly it’s all I can think about. I think somehow the Instagram algorithm took me towards some posts about difficult birth stories and I can’t stop reading them 😢

Ttcmumma · 30/03/2024 19:19

@BuzzybeeMum strangely I've been the exact same! I'm so so anxious about something going wrong in the final weeks and I just want her out so badly so I can see she is ok. It's getting to a point where it's consuming my thoughts and affecting my everyday life. I'm assuming it's somewhat normal as we are both feeling this way?

94kj · 30/03/2024 23:02

@Ttcmumma @BuzzybeeMum I am also feeling this exact same way! Although it's horrible and i am sorry you both feel this way, I am taking some comfort in the fact it's not just me so hoping the anxiety is somewhat normal?

Ttcmumma · 31/03/2024 09:15

@94kj it definitely sucks that we feel this way but it is comforting to know. I was so scared it was my bodies way of telling me something is wrong but I'm guessing it is fairly normal as a few of us feel like it!

94kj · 31/03/2024 09:25

@Ttcmumma I have had waves of feeling like this throughout pregnancy but I am quite an anxious person generally. Think il mention it to my midwife this week as its a horrible way to feel and I keep having that thought like you of what if this actually means something and I'm ignoring it x

Ttcmumma · 31/03/2024 09:29

@94kj I'm not generally too anxious but I lost a baby at 14 weeks last year and I think believing that I will actually have this baby is something that won't quite sink in until I have her in my arms. yeah I think it's worth mentioning, my next appointment is 40 weeks so I may even ask if I can be induced then due to the anxiety etc x

Amf2508 · 31/03/2024 09:50

Still in slow labour :( getting stronger painful contractions but still 10/15 minutes apart! I think as well if your anxious that's going to almost make it harder for you to go into labour, everything I have read/been told by midwives is about relaxing and lowering stress levels to allow your body to realise the oxytocin for labour. I've been trying to leave my anxieties behind as I've previously had 2 uneventful easy births, no tears/blood loss etc. But because they were 'easy' and 'straightforward' it almost sends you spiralling that this time it won't be, plus I'm 7 years older than when I had my son, which doesn't help! Everything you're feeling is definitely normal!

We have a very challenging 8 year old daughter at home which has meant I've been relatively stressed recently too which we're thinking is contributing to my stop start of labour 😩

Ttcmumma · 31/03/2024 09:55

@Amf2508 its so difficult isnt it! I also have a 5 year old son who is currently being put forward to be assessed for ADHD and asd and can be quite challenging especially in the now 2 week school holiday. So my stress levels aren't going to decrease anytime soon 😅.

Btw my contractions with my son (induced at 38 weeks as he broke my waters) they never got closer together than 7 mins apart but I was 10cm and ready to push so they let me. I just had bigger gaps between contractions! They said some peoples bodies just work differently. I have to go in dependant of intensity rather than timing this time, in case the same happens again.

Mrsttcno1 · 31/03/2024 15:32

Well I can’t quite believe this but we went to hospital today for our consultant appointment to get our c section date due to baby being breech & they did “one last scan” to check before we confirmed the date, and my baby is now head down and started to engage!! So they are happy for us to just crack on and wait until we go naturally! I am so so happy & you will catch me on the birthing ball drinking allll the raspberry leaf tea from now😂

SummerOak · 31/03/2024 16:25

@Mrsttcno1 that's amazing news!! Glad the baby decided to turn.

ASGIRC · 01/04/2024 20:23

@Mrsttcno1 Thats great news!

@Amf2508 hope things have progressed now!

Im sorry to say the anxiety does not go away after birth... I literally keep checking if shes breathing! But I was also really anxious just before the birth. It was so close, I just wanted her out, so that i could have her with me!

Iamcatmum · 02/04/2024 16:29

A day late, but Happy Due Date Month everyone! Very exciting seeing some of your baby and labour updates :)

Pinkstuffs · 02/04/2024 18:07

I’m getting so frustrated!

I got booked for a growth scan at 34 weeks because my bump showed static growth. This scan was fine, baby was on 50th centile and no issues with placenta. They didn’t want to see me again and plotted a new chart.

36 week appointment was with a different midwife but it was less than 2 weeks since last growth scan. She didn’t realise and my bump had only grown 2cm not 3cm so she called in for another scan. The scan coordinator said it might be rejected as I only had one 10 days ago but they actually gave me an appointment today.

Baby was super active and they could only get a femur measurement, head is too low to measure and too much movement for abdominal. Apparently the femur has shrunk since the last scan 🙄 and baby is now below 10th centile. Placenta and cord were fine.

I now need another growth scan in 2 weeks when I’ll be 39 weeks! Doesn’t this seem pointless?! I really want to avoid induction and I want to use the birth centre, just feels like I’m on a trajectory to complications now.

Ttcmumma · 02/04/2024 18:58

@Pinkstuffs I got discharged from growth scans at 36 weeks as baby was measuring fine the whole time.

At my 38 week appointment one midwife got 37cm on the Tuesday and another got 34cm on the Thursday, so I went for a growth scan today. Baby is measuring 7lb 10 ounces. Scary as my son was 7lb 😅. No issues at all. I'm 39+1 today. Don't see it as pointless, I just saw it as a double check placenta and fluid levels are all still normal etc. they managed to get most measurements too. Nice to know that all is still ok in there and eases my anxiety a little, so just keep the scan (unless bubba comes before then!) and see it as extra reassurance. I'm sure all will be fine xx

Retrogamer · 02/04/2024 19:11

Hello,
Hope I can join. I was on the March thread but I'm now overdue 🙈
41 weeks this Thursday and going to be induced. They suggested the balloon method as I am 1cm dilated last time they checked. This is my second and probably last baby. I hope he is okay.
Has anyone else been induced and what's the waiting times for you? I've been told I may have to wait for a spare bed before they break my waters.
I'm secretly hoping I'll magically go into labour before then but I have no signs he wants to evacuate haha.

Very nervous and also highly emotional.

How are you all doing?

Petris123 · 02/04/2024 20:03

I've had my 36 week growth scan today, it was a bit rushed so i forgot to ask what the estimated weight at birth would be, but she's estimated to be around 2.5kg now and is in 25th percentile.

Also is anyone else feeling really dehydrated / thirsty all the time? I've already had like 2.7 litres today and still feeling thirsty and not weeing an awful lot. Although amniotic fluid was fine at least. But not sure if I should get myself checked again by a midwife or GP or just keep on drinking?

Applesandpears23 · 02/04/2024 22:24

Can I join? I am due on Friday. Just got to the really frustrating waiting bit. I have been offered an induction but I have been holding out for a home birth. Today my piles are hurting so I am wavering as I would really like baby out now.

I have been discussing induction and have been told there is sometimes a 1-2 day wait on induction ward. I have been told that I can call and check how busy they are before I come in. So I can do the 2 day wait at home. Perhaps that is an option for you?

Cora24601 · 02/04/2024 23:27

@Applesandpears23 @Retrogamer I'm due tomorrow and went for a midwife appt today and was told baby isn't low enough for her to do a sweep and was unsuccessful after giving it a go! She's booked me in for another try on Friday and an induction at 41 weeks but said that the hospital will call me when they have availability and it could be between 41 & 41+3 but to just expect a call! Did you guys manage to get successful sweeps? I feel like if baby was lower and basically ready I would be more open to an induction as I'm quite ready for baby to make an appearance!

Retrogamer · 03/04/2024 00:21

@Applesandpears23 that might be good as I would feel more comfortable at home to sleep. I'll definitely ask of that's an option if no progress on Thursday. I have my fingers crossed for you to get your home birth.

@Cora24601 I was told to wait for a call too. I never reached induction day last time. A second sweep worked with my first. I've had two now but I'm not sure it worked this time even though she could feel the baby's head.
Good luck on Friday, hopefully there's some change for you and things are more favourable.

I think it's the not knowing that makes me nervous. I need to try and go with the flow but its easier said than done haha.

MumDaisy1980 · 03/04/2024 00:54

@ASGIRC Congrats!!

Heya everyone,

Just want to share I gave birth to a baby boy on 29th Mar Good Friday weighing 7.4lbs. its 2 weeks earlier than due date. it’s also my first pregnancy.

I stayed in hospital for almost a week! 3 days labour and 3 days after delivery. Suffered high blood loss, 3rd degree tear and had a fever. But finally discharged and slowly back to reality.

Thank everyone who had contributed to this thread, learnt so much and definitely helped a lot to keep me sane.

hopefully this thread will continue in a suitable section?! Look forward to a link, continue to share the journey and learn from each other!

look forward to more baby news from rest of the group!!!!!!

SummerOak · 03/04/2024 09:42
