Hey guys, new thread for the April due dates.

Looks like the other thread maxed out before someone could make a new one, so I'll tag a few people and then if they could tag a few and they tag a few and so on, so we can try and get everyone in.

There's no way I can get everyone tagged myself, it's a nightmare on mobile.

Congratulations @Emilyj13 .

I'm using the Huckleberry app, it's great!

Spottybutterfly · 20/04/2024 19:24

Is there room for me to join you guys. Baby was due in June but arrived today. 33 weeker 5lbs1oz. We've called her Charlotte.

Do you guys have a WhatsApp or Facebook group?

chlo299 · 20/04/2024 19:26

@Spottybutterfly hi hope Charlotte is well x I gave birth at 34w and we spent 2 weeks at NICU 6 weeks now and growing strong ☺️

Ive had an eventful afternoon… went to hospital this afternoon to discuss an induction which I really didn’t want. Agreed to let midwife examine me to see how dilated I was as I really didn’t want the catheter (their method of induction), I was 3cm! She offered me a sweep which accidentally broke my waters 😮 so looks like I’ll be moved to labour ward tomorrow regardless. Hoping things start off for me tonight!

@Pinkstuffs good luck! Hope you progress quickly!
I'm 40 weeks exactly today, next midwife appt on Monday. Hoping baby gets a move on!

babyhiding · 20/04/2024 23:41

Good luck @Pinkstuffs and hope things get started for you.

I first didn't want to be induced but agreed to be induced on Monday which would be 40 weeks on the condition that i have an epidural. I'm so done with this and hopefully will have my little one early/mid week.

Pinkstuffs · 22/04/2024 00:29

Baby was born today at 21.30 via emergency c section, he’s a tiny 5lbs 13oz!

94kj · 22/04/2024 06:12

@Pinkstuffs congratulations! Hope you're both doing well 🥰

Can I ask what the reason was for the emergency c section? You don't have to answer if you dont want to x

Mrsttcno1 · 22/04/2024 07:40

My baby girl was born 19th April after a difficult induction and an even more difficult birth but we are both now home safely and she is just absolutely perfect. I am so so in love! Congratulations to others who’s babies have arrived since I’ve been a bit MIA! X

Pinkstuffs · 22/04/2024 07:45

@94kj he’s small and I had to have an induction, they broke my waters but contractions didn’t start, baby didn’t tolerate the drip very well so they wanted to get him out.

Aprilpudding24 · 22/04/2024 13:50

My little girl was born this morning. Shes perfect. A long labour that ended in a c section anyway.

ZB86 · 22/04/2024 19:50

Congratulations to everyone who has welcomed their little ones recently.
I'm certainly feeling the sleep deprivation but also feeling very lucky. We have got this!

ASGIRC · 22/04/2024 23:42

Congrats everyone whos had their babies in the past week or so!!!

Its amazing, isnt it???

Mrsttcno1 · 23/04/2024 00:17

Anyone who’s had their baby, does anyone else’s only sleep being held? She will not sleep at night in moses basket or next to me crib, she just wants to be held 24/7! Wondering if this is normal for brand new babies and something that will just sort itself out as time goes on?

Janeykat · 23/04/2024 00:36

@Mrsttcno1 , mine is the same! She is now a week old and has only ever slept being held. Myself and my partner have been taking it in shifts to hold her but im also breastfeeding so a lot falls to me. Im exhausted! Shes the same during the day, wont go into cot at all :( she did manage a buggy walk yesterday though. Does yours sleep better during the day?

No tips im afraid, just solidarity, i've no idea what to do really, and could really do with some proper rest after a section

From reading online it sounds like its quite normal but im not sure how to go about improving it... i have a 4 year old but he went happily into moses basket..

Hugs to you (and coffee!) and congratulations on your baby!

Mrsttcno1 · 23/04/2024 00:47

At least its not just me then @Janeykat !! She’s only 3 days old so it may be just too soon I guess. She will go in the basket sometimes during the day and last night managed 1 hour in the basket but other than that we are also in shifts! X

sugarplum33 · 23/04/2024 00:57

Congrats to all the new babies. I had my little boy last week and also finding he doesn't want to be put down, especially at night. I've been doing some cosleeping following the safe cosleeping guidance and if I breastfeed him to sleep then lay him down next to me and snuggle him close he can be convinced to have an hour or so. Very uncomfortable sleep but better than nothing!

How is everybody finding breastfeeding? I'm not really having any issues with pain but finding it very intense and my little boy isn't gaining weight so it's a little stressful,

MumDaisy1980 · 23/04/2024 02:34

Many congratulations to those who had babies in recent days!!

re: unsettled babies
my baby is 3.5 weeks old now , I had same issue few days ago being the baby was unsettled in crib ALL day as well as at night. I m breastfeeding so that day was really intense, discouraging and felt house bound.

then I re-read about tips to settle baby to crib and just redo it one by one. The tips from various sources, internet and books. In my case I think work for me is

  • regulated room temperature - I guess this was the key factor as there were sun in recent days, we have switched off the heating but now switched back on for one room only specific for the baby.
  • make sure baby is cozy - so I put baby in sleeping bag (or could swaddle)
  • i did a ‘shhhh’ when lay him down the crib - or recommended white noise/pink noise/ lullaby
  • after breastfeed wait 10 mins to let baby enter REM stage deep sleep before transfer to crib
  • shortened distance between breastfeed and the crib (reduce chance to disturb baby)
  • lay baby on the side first then roll to his back in the crib (this reduce sensation of falling and minimise reflex, less disturbance )
  • dim the light in the room at night ,leave as normal during the day
  • go for a walk with baby where possible

Hope it helps!!

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 23/04/2024 05:18

Hi everyone

Congrats to everyone who has had their baby already, but to those of you still waiting please please please go get checked out if there any change in movements or you feel unwell or different in any way.

My baby girl, Eleanor, was born sleeping at 2am at 39+2 following a placental abruption and heavy bleeding. I was the idiot that didn't immediately get reduced movements checked, and I can't say if it would have made a difference, but they have said that it looks like (by the old blood on delivery) that she passed at least a day or two ago. I thought I could still feel her but it musnt have been real movement

9lbs and difficult vaginal delivery to get her shoulders out, but I managed it.

I'll be leaving the thread now to begin the bereavement and healing process

X

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess I am so sorry sorry, I couldn't even imagine your pain. I'll be thinking of you ❤️

chlo299 · 23/04/2024 08:13

@sugarplum33 we are co-sleeping as well. She just wakes up every time she's transferred to a cot no matter at what sleep stage. Re breastfeeding we had some issues but Aurelia's 6 weeks now and she was born at 34w so it was crucial for her to catch up with weight it was slow but I noticed nipple shields helped a lot and also expressing the milk then feeding though the bottle x

jeepjeep4 · 23/04/2024 10:16

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess holding you in my thoughts. Please take care x
