Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

I have my nhs 12 week scan later today, at 12w + 6d. My previous couple of private scans were good, so hopefully everything will be fine. Wonder if they will keep my ivf due date of 4 July...

My emotions are really all over the place. I get so angry from the smallest things (Currently one of my two cats is acting up and pooping in other places than the litter box, and I get so livid!) but also I can cry over nothing, or anything off the radio or tv. I keep apologising for being horrible to my DH and my mom who's visiting for the holidays. I'm sure they are fed up with me! My poor DS has to endure me randomly yelling all over the house...

AnonymousXXIX · 27/12/2023 13:30

@Nocoffeenotalkie first is 2 now 😊We tried for c. 1 year each time (bit less this time). It's a crazy mix of emotions, being sort of one leg in the infertility club and one in the other. (I just wrote like 3 paragraphs about this and then deleted them because both groups would probably be offended.)

@Laylamoxx my bloods took about a week to come back, but I think it could also take up to two weeks.

Nocoffeenotalkie · 27/12/2023 13:37

@AnonymousXXIX ah! 2-3 year age gap is lovely. We have an 11 almost 12 year one! Took 2 and half years to fall with my first after being told would not happen. This pregnancy is a huge shock especially given I'm so much older. We just never expected it to happen again especially after 11 years with no contraception. A little miracle.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 27/12/2023 14:27

@Bluebonnet3 hope it does well today for you!
I’m with you on the emotions - I’ve caught a nasty cold as a Christmas treat so thats making me even worse. I work so hard on trying to be patient with my son that I’ve got no patience left for my husband (or my mum who has also stayed with us over Christmas).

@Laylamoxx - might depend on your trust. I have blood tests fairly regularly for other health things and the results are usually available within a few days, although it can be a few more days before the dr/nurse etc gets chance to look at them. I had my booking appointment on Christmas Eve and the midwife said she should have the results by today but Badgernet still just has a list of the tests and no results for me.

wannabe123 · 27/12/2023 16:46

@Laylamoxx I was told that they'd only ring if there was a problem, otherwise I'll be told they're all fine at my 16 week appointment!

MrsHousePlant · 27/12/2023 16:47

@wannabe123 my booking appointment was weeks ago now and I haven’t heard a thing about my bloods so I’m assuming it’s the same situation here!

bringmearainbow · 27/12/2023 17:04

Our trust only rings if something gets flagged otherwise you hear nada 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Bluebonnet3 how did your scan go? I have mine tomorrow excited but so super nervous for it all at the same time. This will be a huge milestone for me to get to 🙈

I'm 12+3 today and my nausea has pretty much disappeared the last couple of days it was pretty constant since week 6 but now I just have waves of it occasionally feels weird not to feel sick all the time 😂

BananaHammock23 · 27/12/2023 18:19

@Laylamoxx I didn't hear back from the midwife after my booking appt so presuming everything is ok! I'm sure they would contact if anything was wrong.

@Bluebonnet3 how did your scan go? I conceived my DS and this baby via IVF and they've kept the IVF due date for both, but would often comment on how it's measuring a few days ahead or behind.

I'm feeling super emotional today. We had our 12 week scan a few days ago and everything was fine but I feel anxious about soemthing going wrong constantly. Just 4 weeks to go until the next scan at 16 weeks!

Yummum19 · 27/12/2023 20:04

Just had my 12 week scan, all looking as it should and due date brought forward to 3rd of July so I’m 13 weeks today! So surreal seeing baby moving around. Feeling much more real now!

BunBun221 · 27/12/2023 23:12

Any other non FTMs here? This is my second and I've had to switch to maternity clothes already! We had our dating scan this week which put us back a week so I'm even more shocked that I seem to be showing so much! Has anyone else had to switch to maternity clothes yet?

Morningcoffeeaddict · 28/12/2023 04:13

@BunBun221 - yes this is my second too and I already feel massive at 10weeks. I’ve been struggling to do my jeans up and favouring leggings for at least a week. mostly bloat to be fair I’m sure, but I was also in maternity jeans straight after my dating scan with my son so I’m not entirely surprised!

I popped the maternity jeans on this week as I was sick of leggings and feel so much more comfortable although I am pulling them up a lot so probably gone too soon - ha!

bringmearainbow · 28/12/2023 06:48

@BunBun221 this is my second and I look the same now at 12 weeks as I did at about 6 months with my son 😂 I am on a lot of medication too so I think mine is mainly bloating and prob water but the maternity stuff is out and on and has been for a couple of weeks

ceruleansky · 28/12/2023 06:53

Hello everyone!
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas / festive season.

@MrsHousePlant
How are you doing, dear?

@BunBun221
I've heard that from the second time around generally people start showing much earlier! It's totally normal! Hope you're doing well!

@Yummum19
Congratulations on your scan! 13 weeks and you're almost halfway there! Do you already feel the movements?

Alwaystired2023 · 28/12/2023 07:02

@BunBun221 oh my word yes ! 🤣 I look about 6 months pregnant and had to get my maternity leggings out, what is 6 months going to look like this time round?! 🤣

Morningcoffeeaddict · 28/12/2023 07:18

@bringmearainbow and @Alwaystired2023 - glad it’s not just me! Think my husband thought I was going crazy getting the maternity gear out but I felt like my normal clothes were cutting me in half already.

I had enough - “are you sure it’s not twins” “gosh that’s a big baby” etc last time I round I’m already dreading this time!

bringmearainbow · 28/12/2023 07:36

@Alwaystired2023 I reckon we'll even out by 6 months less bloat 🤞🏼 that's what I'm hoping for anyway 😂

@Morningcoffeeaddict oh don't I couldn't even do up half my normal clothes 🙈 gosh people just don't think do they it's def not something you want to hear all the time really makes you feel fabulous 🙄 I must admit I am wondering how big I'm going to get. Last time I was just bump and nothing else think I put on about 8kg total but this time I've already put weight on about 3kg and feel about the size of a mansion I said to hubby last night I've never felt so gross and unattractive 😅

AnonymousXXIX · 28/12/2023 08:22

Eek this is my 2nd but I'm not showing yet at all . My SIL was at this stage with her 2nd so I was sort of expecting it. I hope everything is growing ok 😭 I didn't show till about 20 weeks with my first though so maybe that's why?

Alwaystired2023 · 28/12/2023 08:54

@AnonymousXXIX ah try not to worry (easier said than done) it's all bloat at this stage wether your showing or not right xx so many factors to consider as to when it will all start to move, sounds like you have lovely strong muscles whereas my stomach couldn't wait to go ahead and relax! Especially where you didn't show until 20weeks with your first, agree with @bringmearainbow it will all even out over the next month or so as bloat goes and baby grows !

Morningcoffeeaddict · 28/12/2023 09:18

@bringmearainbow agree it is definitely mostly bloat at this time (so gassy it’s lucky I work from home!) - doesn’t help the clothes do up any easier though. And yes people should keep their opinions to themselves but never do - it’s always women who already have a baby as well and you wonder if they’ve forgotten how annoying it is!

@AnonymousXXIX definitely don’t worry, especially if you didn’t show until 20weeks last time. I showed by about 12 weeks even with my first and he was tiny! A lot of it is bloat / fluid / just where your uterus is anatomically and nothing at all to do with baby. My little bean is only about an inch long still - so definitely can’t be blamed for how enormous my tummy gets so quickly!

Yummum19 · 28/12/2023 09:38

Thank you @ceruleansky ! This was my first scan this pregnancy so I definitely feel less anxious waking up this morning. I was sure we were going to get told there’s no baby. No movements yet but I didn’t feel them until about 19/20 weeks with my previous pregnancies.

MrsHousePlant · 28/12/2023 09:51

@ceruleansky I’m okay thank you! Pleased to have got through Christmas and enjoyed the food. Though I’m not sure how I’ll return to work in January as I’m currently enjoying a nap every afternoon!! How are you doing? How long until your next scan?

This is our first and now we’ve had a scan, my partner is quite keen to start picking bits up and buying things to spread the cost (especially as we now start to budge and plan for maternity pay.. eek). I have lists and lists on my phone but can’t bring myself to start yet!

Nocoffeenotalkie · 28/12/2023 10:24

@Morningcoffeeaddict this is my second after big gap and my body seems to be "Oh yes, I remember this" and has puffed up like a balloon. I am already only in leggings! 12 week scan on 12th not sure how I'm going to hide it at work 😳
I have ordered a couple of maternity dresses from Nobody's Child Sale because last pregnancy was 11 years ago so we're starting from scratch here! They were also only £15 each so seemed silly not too...

Morningcoffeeaddict · 28/12/2023 10:28

@Nocoffeenotalkie ooh that’s a good shout on the nobody’s child sale! I’m lucky I work from home so my boss can only see shoulders up but I have to go into the office the week before my 12 week scan and not sure I’ll get away with hiding it but I don’t really want to say anything until after the scan

Busyhedgehog · 28/12/2023 10:33

I've been too lazy to get into the loft and get my maternity clothes out, so still wearing stretchy jeans with a hairband. I'm on loads of IVF medication as well, which can be blamed for the bloat.
DS have been ill for days now. My throat infection seems to go away slowly and swallowing doesn't feel like swallowing razor blades anymore. However, I haven't moved off the sofa in days and the weather is lovely outside so I should really get moving soon. Luckily, DH is good at looking after us. He's happily pottering around in the garden at the moment.
My next scan isn't for another two weeks and I'm terrified of bad news but I felt the same with DS, if I remember correctly. I'll be 12+4 by then, so keeping everything crossed.
@MrsHousePlant Are there people you can get stuff from? Babies usually don't care about getting all new stuff. I've got some colleagues, who currently have some of our baby stuff and it's meant they didn't have to buy it. We'll just get it back in the summer. (Includes our bedside cot, sleepyhead, PerfectPrep, travel cot, etc.) We luckily don't have to get too much for this one. We've kept a lot of stuff from DS and my sister has had two kids in between then and now, so there's loads of stuff stored in the loft. Not being in the UK anymore also means that I get way more maternity pay this time round. Just need to figure out whether we'll take one year, 16 months or two years...and how to split it between the two of us.

justanotherlaura · 28/12/2023 11:19

@Busyhedgehog up to 2 years sounds amazing!

I took 8 months and my husband took 3 last time with my last month and his first month overlapping. It was lovely having that month to transition from mum doing everything during the day to dad doing it, it meant I could go back to work confident that he was being looked after properly and gave my husband a month to get used to the routines and find his own routine.

I think we'll do that again this time. It means quite a chunk is unpaid, I only get 16 weeks full pay then on to SMP but it was a lovely experience and we've been saving like mad to cover it!
