Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

@CB2805 Yes! I can relate
Last week I had so much movement and would know how to make the baby move, after eating etc
Then yesterday it was radio silence from the baby. It made me feel a little worried. But then this morning the baby has been a lot more active. It's worrying isn't it! I have my scan on Thursday so just waiting until then

ExpectantEs · 20/02/2024 15:16

Also so happy everyone's scans have gone well! I'm taking it as a good sign that everyone's will go well - fingers crossed.

Congrats on your baby boy @wannabe123 💙

I've been having dreams about baby girls since I found out I was pregnant.
But last night I had a dream it was a boy at the scan. Can't wait to see which dreams were correct 😃

AnonymousXXIX · 20/02/2024 15:18

@ceruleansky I absolutely love Roman and Greek names!!

I also have a crisp bump btw haha. It was pretty much what got me through the first trimester this time (last time I was on crackers and lost a whole load of weight!). Midwife asked me this morning if I am managing to do any exercise 😅😂

bringmearainbow · 20/02/2024 15:19

@ceruleansky we have picked both a boy and a girl name ❤️

Morningcoffeeaddict · 20/02/2024 15:27

@ceruleansky - also very excited to hit halfway! Consultant has already told me she’ll probably be delivering baby around 38/39 weeks if they haven’t arrived before then so I’m planning on counting 19weeks as my halfway point - also have our scan that day so we can find out if our boy suspicions are right!

absolutely no idea on names here- DH and I like totally different things so we can’t agree on anything at the moment!

missmoosh · 20/02/2024 15:35

@ceruleansky haha I have always loved crisps, so it's no surprise I'm craving them! We also have a name all picked out and are referring to her by it already!

@CB2805 yes! I have been having clear movement for just over a week, dh even felt a kick or two. Then yesterday basically nothing, was so worried! She's still a little quiet today but have felt her move a little bit!

In regards to msg, I'm quite passionate about the topic lol. obviously moderation is good, but just to let you know a lot of the stuff about it has been debunked. It is actually naturally occurring in a lot of healthy foods! The whole scare around it, came from someone in the 1960s saying they got ill after having Chinese food, which then led to a horrible racist unfolding of misinformation. It's actually really interesting when you start reading into it, but it is now considered safe. Some people say they are intolerant to it, and studies have actually shown that when given it, not knowing they have had it it, they have no reaction 😂 I will end my ramble there, otherwise I could be going for days!!

ExpectantEs · 20/02/2024 15:48

@missmoosh I've also done some light reading on the MSG topic & also believe it's been debunked

ceruleansky · 20/02/2024 15:54

@AnonymousXXIX
Yes, they are lovely! I've always loved mythology too.
Yup just blame it on the pregnancy! Was that a routine question or was she being rude? 😭

@bringmearainbow
Aww, love that for you. Twins are always so special!!

@Morningcoffeeaddict
I see, how do you feel about their decision? Do you also feel it's best for you? I know your previous pregnancy, you delivered early. 38 is full term so it's probably safer not to wait until the very end?
Ahh do you think it's a boy because you feel the same as you did with your first?
I see! I was talking to DH about the names I liked and he was joking around so I've decided not to include his opinion. 🤣 he's OK with whatever I pick though.

@missmoosh
That's lovely that you've picked one already!
Yes, there are many mixed opinions on MSG and a lot of other foods! I don't let it keep me from eating what I like once in a while if I'm healthy most of the time!!
No alcohol or smoking though. 😅 Which hasn't been too hard because the smell alcohol (any kind) makes me nauseous now.

bringmearainbow · 20/02/2024 16:06

@ceruleansky sorry I think I wrote that poorly I'm not having twins we just don't know what we're having so have a name for both 🙊

Julymumtobe · 20/02/2024 16:08

Hi all so lovely to hear about positive 20 week scans. Also thanks to those recommending items needed/ not needed, as a first time mum it’s really helpful.
I am 19+ 3 today and yesterday I had a bit of a scare. I was sitting at my desk and suddenly felt like I was going to pass out, felt really faint, dizzy and started sweating. After an abrupt departure from my teams meeting I managed to feel OK by lying down on the floor but it really scared me. I’ve had that feeling before but usually it’s when standing or hungry etc ( I had just eaten). It did scare me a lot. Contacted midwife and went in for some tests- blood pressure and iron levels all normal. Anyone else had this? Just another symptom to add to the list?!
I’ve also been suffering with trapped wind/ heart burn pain under my left rib. My GP prescribed Omeprazole but it isn’t entirely working so think I will need to go back to my GP. I don’t think my body likes pregnancy much lol. All of this now when I’ve literally just stopped getting sick every day.

Busyhedgehog · 20/02/2024 17:13

The glucose test is done as routine here. I didn't have it last time, either and I'm not looking forward to it at all. Saw a lady in the waiting room who looked terrible and kept throwing up. Poor her. 😕

We've got the first name already - Ava - but are still thinking about the second name. I know the name is quite common in the UK and the US but its less common here and it's generally easy to pronounce.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 20/02/2024 18:03

@Julymumtobe hope you’re doing ok! I had that feeling once, not during pregnancy though it was when I first started my thyroid meds. Also lay on the floor and was ok after a bit and it hasn’t happened since. In pregnancy I’d have thought it would be something to keep an eye on though? What did your midwife say?

@ceruleansky - I’m ok with it, I trust this consultant and had already prepared myself for having another section. I think it makes sense with the risks involved to deliver then at the latest and like you say it’s term anyway by then so baby should be fine, they’re keeping us in for a few days after baby arrives for monitoring because of all the medications I take so at least I know we’ll be looked after

BunBun221 · 20/02/2024 18:13

I'm a bit late to the party but catching up on messages I've missed! I've been writing our get ready list so can share below!

In terms of what we plan on having ready in terms of clothing etc luckily we have learnings from our DS! We'll aim to have one wash a week so it's worth bearing in mind how often you want to wash things/ dry things if you don't have a tumble dryer when working out what you need: This is our basic list so far based on what worked well with DS.

×15 Muslins- tbh as many as we can get. We used them for absolutely everything and DS was a very sicky baby who struggled to bring his wind up
X10-14 Sleepsuits - mostly zip ups
×14 Vests (short sleeve)
X5-6 outfits &/ cardigans including very light cotton outfits as when we had DS it was the 40 degree heatwave and we were woefully under prepared for hot weather.
X10 Socks
X2-4 swaddles
3-4 Blankets
X2 Sunhats
X2 changing Mats and changing station set ups (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs)
X1 moses basket
X1 rockit (we loved ours - we'd swap it between the pram and moses basket)
X1 next2me cot
X1 ollie the owl
Baby bath
Nappies
Waterwipes
Metanium nappy cream
Pram parasol
X2 pairs of scratch mitts
X1 under arm thermometer
Tommee tippee perfect prep machine
Dummy clips
Sophie the giraffe teether and matchstick monkeys

This time we won't bother with:
Baby hooded towels - they're only really useful and cute the first few months
Wraps / slings / carriers - I'm a larger size (18-20) and found them super uncomfortable and OH has a bad back and hated them
Baby oil / shampoo / conditioner - never used and son only has just started growing hair!
Milk warmer upper - when we used formula we'd use the tommee tippee machine (life saver btw) so never needed a warmer
Nappy caddy - it was just annoying and tbh we ended up emptying one of the drawers under the TV and turning it into the nappy /baby draw.

Julymumtobe · 20/02/2024 18:25

@Morningcoffeeaddict thank you, it did really scare me especially as I was just sat working and it came out of nowhere. The midwife thought it was going to be my iron levels but the blood test results said they are fine. If it happens again I’ve got to get back in contact to try and find out what’s going on. Hoping it’s just a one off strange thing! Seems to be one thing after another for me in pregnancy!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 20/02/2024 18:29

@Julymumtobe - definitely take it easy on yourself and call the midwife straight away if it happens again. Hopefully it will just be a one off though! Pregnancy is so tough on the body I feel like it’s a rollercoaster for everyone

MrsHousePlant · 20/02/2024 20:07

@CB2805 I had the same last week! Several days with loads of movement then a day of nothing. I was at the midwife the day after and asked and she said at this stage (nearly 20 weeks) they’re still quite small so can turn into a position inside you where you can’t feel the movement as much. She said not to worry but to contact them if I was concerned as they’ll happily check. Anyway after that obviously I could feel the baby all day again 😂

ExpectantEs · 21/02/2024 10:45

Hi all,

I'm having this strange twinge/heaviness pain in my vagina/Vulva area. But also feels like it's in my rectum. It also feels weird at the end of when I'm peeing. When I stand up, gravity or long walks make the twinges more prominent.

Can anyone relate to this or should I speak to midwife?

Jess725 · 21/02/2024 11:04

Hello! just came on to update my scan is today - I feel nervous but hoping everything is fine ❤️ It's not until late afternoon I think I've already sweated buckets with anxiety, so silly!

@ExpectantEs
I just wanted to tell you my experience but of course, ask your midwife if you are worried and you can get some clarification but.... I also experience this, I was told it could be endometriosis that is triggered by all your hormones! I actually don't know for sure if I have it but it really makes sense to me. Again, please don't take my word for it but the gravity feeling after peeing is the same for me :)

Busyhedgehog · 21/02/2024 11:16

@ceruleansky Last time we went, I had sushi rolls with avocado and fried salmon. They are my favourite. 😁 Our local sushi place also makes an amazing mango salad. I think it just depends on what you are getting.

@BunBun221 I guess it depends on each family's preferences. We never used a Moses basket with DS and won't have one this time round, either. We do have a Sleepyhead, though, which was really useful last time. DS never liked being swaddled.
We also used hooded towels until well into toddlerhood. We go to the indoor pool in the winter and have a pool in the garden for the summer. They are really useful for that. We have the IKEA ones and they last a bit longer.
We've managed to get a new (used) pushchair. It's a Mountain Buggy and the family we got it from gave us a lot of extra stuff with it.

ExpectantEs · 21/02/2024 11:28

@Jess725 Good luck with your scan later! I'm sure it will be fine. Looking forward to hearing the update ❤️ Mine is tomorrow morning and so excited

Also thanks for this. I googled it and it said it's because of increased blood flow in the area but then another link said it could be prolapse and I was scared.
I'm going to see how it progresses and will contact midwife if it gets worse!

Jess725 · 21/02/2024 12:02

@ExpectantEs oh amazing! hurry up tomorrow for you! Super exciting!

Ahhh I see, the blood flow makes sense 😁 hope you feel much better, try not to worry ❤️

Bali200 · 21/02/2024 13:02

Good luck for your scans @Jess725 and @ExpectantEs! Are you going to find out the sex?

ExpectantEs · 21/02/2024 15:45

@Bali200 Yes, I want to find out - just because the excitement is a lot
What about you?? Or did you already have your scan

Cattattack · 21/02/2024 16:08

Guys - trying to figure out if I’m feeling baby or not. Does it almost feel like a temporary spasm in the groin area? Like rumbly…kinda sensations with an occasional ‘poke’ type thing? 😅

Bali200 · 21/02/2024 16:10

@ExpectantEs yes, I’m having a girl 💗 had a private scan at 17 weeks but the nhs one on Monday confirmed it! I love the idea of a surprise but I’m too impatient and it feels a lot more real now!
