Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

16 week appt was a waste of time here too. We did listen to the heartbeat which was nice but id had a private scan the night before to bridge the gap between the 12 and 20 week scans!

Whats everyone wearing? It's my second pregnancy and im so much bigger this time. I can't fit in any of my trousers or jeans but my bump still doesn't look bumpish enough for bodycon so I'm just wearing tent dresses and loose jumpers which aren't doing anything for me but making me look bigger 😩

Morningcoffeeaddict · 03/02/2024 21:50

@BananaHammock23 - that’s nice they listened to the heartbeat at least. I’ve got my 16weeks appointment this week, preparing myself for disappointment!
Same as you on clothes at the moment - I’m just in maternity jeans / leggings and oversized sweaters so I just look huge. My boobs have got massive as well so I just look frumpy in everything I think!

Had a 16 week private scan to reassure myself and asked if it was crazy if I felt movement already with anterior placenta... She said no that's absolutely possible, if you think that's what you're feeling then that's def it! Quite excited by that 😊

100% at my 12 week scan I could feel DS moving bwfore aot and confirmed once midwife started to scan.
I also had an anterior placenta.

This time they think I have a high Posterior. And been feeling movmwnt from 9 weeks. Not all the time but every now and then.

I am annoyed as I have outgrown my previous nursing maternity bras so now I have to buy new ones!!! I kept them but they are pretty useless now.
Never had such big boobs in my life!!!

Yes I also feel enourmous already. I hate anything restrictive.

Had my 16w appointment today as well ladies. I can confirm it was such a waste of time for me as well. I was in and out within 2-3 min!! She took blood pressure and checked urine and that was it, off I go. She didn’t even have any answers to my question or even if she did was accompanied with I believe.., I’m not quite sure but.., I hope that.. so not that reassuring at all.

On the bride side I had a private scan, was confirmed bubbas are a girl and a boy officially🫶🏻 and they doing really well so I’m so glad for that!

Edited

Wow that's annoying. My Midwives take so long with me. Booking apt was 1.5hrs and 16 weeks apt last time was 45mins. But in a small cottage hospital so maybe that's why.

But congrats one of each how lovely.

We decided to find out at 20 weeks!

My boobs are killing me. Does anyone have a remedy? Hot/cold compress, which works better? I haven't tried either.

BananaHammock23 · 04/02/2024 08:51

@MixedCouple omg same 🫠 I'm still BFing my now 2.5 year old and didn't think my boobs could get any bigger but here we are... in new nursing bras at 18 weeks!

User491 · 04/02/2024 09:19

Morning everyone,

@CB2805 that's amazing news, congratulations to you 🥰 are you telling family what you are having too? So exciting!

Sorry to hear most of your 16 weeks midwife appointments were a let down 😞 I have mine on Thursday and a consultant appointment on Tuesday.

I actually had a major worry yesterday.
Thursday and Friday I had this awful bloat with sharp pains, which I assumed was bowel related/uterus expanding pains. Everything has shifted up so would make sense. Then Friday night I went for a massage/reflexology/reiki session came home and needed the bathroom (tmi, but think I was just constipated)

Yesterday, I was out and about, the bloating had eased and when I went for a wee there was quite a lot of bright red blood.. not bled at all this pregnancy. I panicked and went home, rang the maternity ward who refused to see me as I was 15+5 and not 16w or over 🙄 so I was told to go to A&E, we did and since we got there; I had no more bleeding just a little spotting. The doctor checked my cervix which was closed and no blood leaking. They took a swab, and basically said I will get a call Monday for a scan.
They couldn't offer me one there and then but seemed happy my cervix etc was closed and sent me home.
I did have an achy back, and felt a bit tender on my stomach but I think it was actually stress related and in my head more than being there If that makes sense!
I have had no more bleeding or anything and no idea what's caused it..
I was so tempted to book a private scan today but my husbands at work all day; and my worry is if something is wrong, I don't think I want the private clinic to be the ones to tell me, I think I would rather be in hospital if you understand what I mean. When I went for the private one last time, they were very much one in one in sort of thing, no real compassion.

Anyone any idea/understanding of what could have happened please 🙏 sorry for the long message 😢❤️

BananaHammock23 · 04/02/2024 11:04

@User491 so sorry you've had such a stressful time. I had some bleeding at the start of this pregnancy when I was around 8 weeks and there was no obvious reason. Baby is fine and I'm now 18 weeks. Have you tried calling your local EPU? They might be more helpful than A&E.

I had a similar thing with my local maternity unit at 15+5 when I had what I knew was a UTI. I ended up in an urgent care centre waiting 6 hours for antibiotics, so gutting because 2 days later I would've walked into maternity and been in and out in an hour!

User491 · 04/02/2024 11:16

@BananaHammock23 thank you for the message!
It's horrible when things happen out of your control isn't it 😞
Bless you, then making you wait for a simple course of antibiotics it's just ridiculous! Shouldn't happen all for the sake of a few days 😞 so pleased your baby is ok though 🥰

Our EPU is only open Monday / Friday from what I recall.. I may see how I get on.

I've just wiped and there is just a little brown discharge now, but not sure if that's just coming away or with them swabbing my cervix etc yesterday. I don't know whether to call the maternity bit again as A&E told me to call if I had any more symptoms. But I have no pain which is a good thing I assume.
I feel ok in myself too... you worry about bothering them don't you 🙈

Vittoriosa · 04/02/2024 14:13

Sorry to hear this, what a worry. I have had small amounts of red and brown bleeding this pregnancy and last. Both times on examination told it was a cervical ectropion…

AnonymousXXIX · 04/02/2024 14:13

Oh no @User491, that sounds so stressful 🙁 I can't believe they stuck to dates instead of being a bit more sympathetic. That's so arbitrary. We're humans, not numbers. (Plus who knows precise dates anyway?! My last scan showed 16+1 instead of 15+4, which is a bit of a difference!)

I have a sort of non-pregnancy question, for any of you who already had a baby (or several). The last two years or so I have pretty much been in charge of our now-toddler's sleep, as my partner is in favour of 'training' (hysterical crying) and I am 200% against it (me and my situation ofc; you do you!). He refuses to 'help' unless he can do it his way, so I am on my own... Yep, that's def one for our therapist, but that aside... How have you guys dealt with adding a new baby into the mix? I cannot physically make two children sleep at the same time. What are we going to do?!

The toddler was basically sleeping mostly through the night the past couple months (despite no 'training' whatsoever), so I wasn't massively worried about it... but def entering the terrible twos now and showing more rebellion and independence etc and the past couple weeks have been quite difficult. I am finding it really hard being 4 months pregnant and solely responsible for night time wakes... and it is making me super stressed about coming July!! Really need help 😭

Vittoriosa · 04/02/2024 14:16

I have booked a private scan for an hours time to find out gender.

Been umming and aahing and have just bit the bullet! I have 2 boys already where I didn’t find out and just feel I need to know this time 🙈 Have paid for a gender confetti balloon to pop at home with kids after…Wish us luck 🙈💖💙

Morningcoffeeaddict · 04/02/2024 15:38

@Vittoriosa - hope the scan goes well! How exciting you’re about to find out!

@User491 - that sounds so stressful and how ridiculous of maternity sticking to the letter of the law like that, especially with EPU closed. I have no explanations for you but can slightly relate - as with others I had some bleeding albeit earlier on in my previous with no cause ever identified and my son was fine. I also had a sudden very desperate urge to use the loo last week having been very constipated which was accompanied by a bit of blood but in my case not enough to worry about (I hope) and I’m fairly sure mine was from my bottom (definitely tmi - pregnancy glamour) - sharing in case that’s a possibility for you too with the constipation, iron tablets have definitely made things worse for me on that front. 16 week appointment this week for me and really hoping I’ll get to hear the heartbeat as feeling a bit anxious about it.

Vittoriosa · 04/02/2024 16:32

After 2 boys, It’s a girl!!!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖

missmoosh · 04/02/2024 17:55

@User491 oh that sounds so scary, hope everything is alright and it was just random and nothing to worry about it.

@Vittoriosa ahhh how exciting!!!! I find out next Sunday!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 04/02/2024 18:16

@Vittoriosa - that’s great news! Congratulations!

missmoosh · 04/02/2024 19:22

Anyone else struggling with their emotions?
I feel like all I do is cry or feel irrationally upset about a situation. For example, DH has a friend who loves to call him in the evening, which is for the most part the only time I get to spend with him. It's so annoying, we had plans to sit and watch a programme together this evening, and the friend calls, so I'm put on hold whilst he goes off to chat with him for God knows how long! Made me so upset and i know it's not reasonable! I think it's worse where I have been off work with HG and feeling slowly more isolated, so value that time with him. So when people take that away I get sad, and have no idea how to explain this to him...
Sorry rant over 😂😂

Vittoriosa · 04/02/2024 19:35

Good luck!! Let us know 💖💙

Vittoriosa · 04/02/2024 19:36

Thank you 💖💖💖

CB2805 · 04/02/2024 21:01

@User491 oh my god exactly same thing happened to me a few days back. Red bleed (although in my case was quite a bit soaked my leggings), freaked out called maternity triage and they wouldn’t see me as I was as I was 15+6 an absolute joke. They send me to EPU but I didn’t bother as I knew they wouldn’t scan me. The bleeding faded to spotting next day and went to my midwife appointment who after explaining what happened she send me to maternity triage again.
they took my bloods and urine and send me for a scan. Thank lord both bubbas were fine and growing well, they couldn’t see the reason for the bleed but one of my babies placentas is low lying so they think that could cause it.
long story sort they wanted me to be admitted to monitor bleeding(which was no existent by the time I was there) but I refused as I had already bleeding at 12w and believed I would be better off at the comfort of my home as it’s not much that they can do at this stage anyway (as a MW informed me😶)
I hope you feeling better hun🫶🏻 my bleed is a very light brown spotting so I’m quite optimistic. If you still worried just give a call back to maternity triage they will see you straight away at 16w at least to check on bubbas.
one how scary it is but don’t panic yet🤞

User491 · 04/02/2024 21:30

Thank you for all your messages ❤️
Really hoping it is just a one off and no major concern. Consultant app on Tuesday which I will ask for a scan, but I'm hoping they get me in tomorrow, I just need the reassurance. Hopefully the twinnies are fine 🤞🏻❤️
You all put my mind at ease a bit with how common it can be 🤞🏻

So annoying with how strict the maternity department are tho 🙄 least I'm 16 weeks tomorrow!

@Morningcoffeeaddict the constipation is awful isn't it! Hope it eases off for you soon. Fingers crossed for your midwife appointment, really hope they let you hear the heartbeats 🥰

@Vittoriosa aww lovely news, congratulations 🥳

@missmoosh hormones can make us all irrational at times, it's hard as when your on your own a lot of the time, you just want someone to give you a bit of company and I get that! Maybe just explain it to your husband then he can maybe Just set aside certain days to speak to his friend?

@CB2805 aww bless you, sorry to hear this as well, so worrying but thank god both your babies are fine 🥰
Thank you, you have really helped settle my worrying. The spotting has been stopping and starting all day but only a tiny bit. It's that initial reaction of seeing bright red blood.. there was a lot initially, but for it just to stop is so strange.
I had read that about a low lying placenta too.
It's so stupid about the 16 week rule though, even the doctor last night said it was stupid and he said he would have just sent me up to their department, but they would just send me back down.
I'm really hoping they scan be tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I'll let you know how I get on when they call ☺️

BananaHammock23 · 04/02/2024 21:32

@AnonymousXXIX I've got a 2.5 year old DS and I'm reeeeally worried about how we're going to cope as well! DS cosleeps still and breastfeeds through the night. I know we need to get him in his own room but I has can't imagine it happening when he's so reliant on me. DW will have to step in and cosleep with him in his own room soon but I'm stressing about it constantly!

No advice but I'm sorry your DH is being such a shit about it. So so unhelpful for you!

missmoosh · 04/02/2024 21:41

@User491 i hope they will scan you tomorrow to put your mind at ease! So ridiculous having to wait just because epu is closed.
And thank you, I spoke with him and we agreed to do a date night every week, so I feel less lonely lol. He then gave me a lovely cuddle on the sofa. Sure I will find something else to cry about tomorrow lol

CB2805 · 04/02/2024 21:56

@User491 it’s so stupid how they manage the dating. Even the doctor who examined me asked me why I didn’t came in yesterday when I said that I was refused to be seen due to being 15+6 she was in shock😅
the sonographer who scanned me mentioned that with twin pregnancies things are a bit ‘’different” and what’s normal and what’s not doesn’t really apply to them. It honestly reassured me a lot and just hope everything turns out well. Went on the rabbit whole of Dr Google and honestly I wouldn’t suggest you doing that😑
hope they give u a scan tomorrow and I’m sure your bubbas will be fine🫶🏻
