Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

@missmoosh I wouldn’t worry - I’m HG as well, though controlled with medication this time. My symptoms started coming and going from about 14 weeks so you’ll probably be head down the toilet again tomorrow 😂

CB2805 · 31/01/2024 18:42

@ceruleansky i still have them at 15w but twinges are getting stronger rather than the cramping. I did had a few days that I didn’t felt them at all and thought that was the end of them but no they came back stronger today😅

CB2805 · 31/01/2024 18:44

Thanks ladies I’ve tried milk every night before bed but doesn’t seem to help. I think I will give a go to medication. My only worry is I don’t want my body to get use to it and then then stack with it for a long run😅

Hello 👋 I'm new here, 17 weeks and have been feeling so sick that I'm only just about able to string a sentence together.

I'm moving to the North East in a few weeks and have signed up to the Newcastle Bump & Baby antenatal classes but if anybody has any recommendations for the area I'd love to hear from you!

One question- where I'm living now you self refer to maternity services but it looks like in Newcastle you have to go through a GP? Does anybody local know if I've got that right?

Thanks!

missmoosh · 31/01/2024 19:35

@Amberellaella ahh hello fellow sufferer! Yeah I'm still on my meds for now, going to give it a couple days and see if I can reduce them a bit...
I hope it's hold off one more day at least, as I'm finally getting my hair cut and covering up my pesky greys that are getting me down lol

User491 · 31/01/2024 20:57

Hey,

Hope everyone is ok 🥰

Time seems to be going soooo slow 🙈 15+2 today

Anyone else booking a private scan in between their 12 week and 20 weeks one? I'm contemplating booking one for and of next week!

@CB2805 with you on the heartburn, but only certain days for me. I'm already on omelrezole, so think that's kept it at bay. The other night tho randomly my tea come right back up.. it's not happened since. Spearmint rennies are the only thing that seemed to keep it at bay.

Also, hope you don't mind me asking, but what are your consultant appointments for? Just a run down of things? I only just found out that I will have one every 4 weeks now, starting next week - was hoping I would get a scan, but apparently not. I'm also in with the midwife next week too, so hoping we get to hear the heartbeats ❤️

@Cattattack I have been checking this also for the last few weeks, it's so weird and amazing!! I noticed just this week that it all seems to have shifted a lot higher 🥰 I seem to have loads of little lumps and bumps in there and have no real idea of what is what but I'm going to ask my midwife 😂

Any recommendations for the best pregnancy pillow, I don't really have a bump as such but defo a lot fuller in the middle and clothes are getting tighter, but on a night when sleeping, I'm finding it harder to get myself comfy 🙈😂

@ceruleansky I don't have cramps as such, but lots of twinges etc going on and maybe a heaviness which I assume is everything stretching etc. I'm sure it will all be fine 🤞🏻☺️
I get you with the worry though, it's never ending 😢 will all be worth it 🥰

CB2805 · 31/01/2024 22:46

@User491 my appointments with consultant will be every 4weeks as well after a certain point (can’t remember which week exactly so far I’m booked for my 20w scan and after that nothing)
although my IVF dr from abroad recommended to start checking my cervical length from 16w and onwards(I still don’t know the exact reason I guess bc of twins and my previous surgeries), so on my first appointment with consultant we discussed that and she agreed to check it even tho she don’t recommend it to put my mind at ease. Which I’m really thankful🫶🏻 im booked in next week for it and I hope she will check bubas as well.

MixedCouple · 31/01/2024 23:51

In my first pregnancy I had a memory foam pillow long body pillow buuut after 26 weeks was useless not bump support. So this time I purchased the Dream Belt is goes all around the belly and has foam padding so don't jave to readjust. I only need support on my belly to my ankles so I opted for 2 small bean bag bolsters this time.

I have my 16 weeks apt on Monday. No call backs about my bloods so assume all is ok. I opted for the GD test at 28weeks just becuase it will give me some time away from my toddler 😂 I never have time away.

This time around not jad time to keep up with the apps and development stuff at all.
But I started to feel baby at 9 weeks and since 12 weeks been daily in the evenings the most. I said it least time but feels like a snake in a bag 😂

Guys, I'm finally doing it after 3+ months. I'm going to try eggs.

@CB2805
Aww, I can't wait to feel the real kicks! I suppose that will help me connect with the baby more. 😊 During my last 2 scans baby was curled up sideways cross legged in one and upside down with its legs stretched out in another. Getting real comfy in there. 🤣

@User491
I understand, I feel the twinge too, and they feel different. My doctor told me that cramps a sign of miscarriage but I don't have to worry unless I'm spotting along with the cramps. Anyway, I'll just hope for the best, you just can't control everything!
How has it been so far for you in general? 😊

@missmoosh I finally got my hair done on Tuesday for the first time since October and ohhhhh the relief!!! Enjoy that feeling!

Amberellaella · 01/02/2024 11:10

@User491 I am a serial scanner and paid privately to go at 6, 8, 10 and 16 weeks 😂 Had a loss last summer and it’s really been helping my anxiety.

@missmoosh I am definitely also looking forward to getting my hair done without the risk of vomming all over my hairdresser 😂 #pregnantproblems

Bluebonnet3 · 01/02/2024 11:14

Re: pregnancy pillows, in my first pregnancy I got a fancy long bean bag one as a gift, but I didn't use it much. Instead I tended to use 2 normal pillows, one between my knees, and one under my waist/bump (and a regular pillow for my head). My main goal was to take pressure off my hips and shoulders, as they were the things that would be achy in the night and cause me to flip flop every few hours. Hopefully I've got another month or 2 before I need to worry about that this time around.

Vittoriosa · 01/02/2024 14:14

So disappointed with my 16 week midwife appointment. No weight, not heartbeat, no checks. Literally just blood pressure. What a waste of time 🥲

Jess725 · 01/02/2024 14:45

@Vittoriosa ohhh I'm sorry. I had the exact same last week and felt overly disappointed. Ladies on here and family members said its pretty normal and they often have difficulty with the doppler and it can cause unnecessary anxiety so it's not protocol anymore :( I hope that helps!! Took me a day or two to stop feeling rubbish about it xxxx
I also weighted myself when I got home hhaha!

Lisao86 · 01/02/2024 16:15

Had the same today at my 16 week appointment, although I’m nearly 18w now. I assumed it would be much more thorough that it was - no weight, no bloods, no heartbeat. I guessed it was because it was a stand in midwife, but maybe it’s just a less thorough appointment?!

AnonymousXXIX · 01/02/2024 22:43

Had a 16 week private scan to reassure myself and asked if it was crazy if I felt movement already with anterior placenta... She said no that's absolutely possible, if you think that's what you're feeling then that's def it! Quite excited by that 😊

Vittoriosa · 02/02/2024 06:49

Thanks ladies, it definitely seemed like a waste of time. Getting more and more tempted to book another private scan! 🙈

Nocoffeenotalkie · 02/02/2024 07:05

I've booked a private one for 16+5 next week. I think 12 - 20 week wait is enormous.
I had my first consultant appointment. It seemed a bit of a waste of time. Told me my blood results were fine. Made lots of references to my daughter's birth weight and her being so very small. I asked why it wasn't commented on at the time if it was successful an issue. Basically need extra monitoring and growth scans which I am happy to have.
They want me to consider VBAC but I'm after reading the information. I am still wanting ELC especially as she said due to my age they won't let me go past 39 weeks.

Amberellaella · 02/02/2024 13:49

@Nocoffeenotalkie interesting, apologies if you’ve said before - I’m new here - but what was your daughter’s birth weight?

I’ve got a consultant appt booked too, but I’m not sure what for. Midwife thinks because I had a partial haemorrhage last time, I thought maybe because I’m over 40 now, but DD was on the dinky side (6+2) so I wonder if that’s a factor?

Morningcoffeeaddict · 02/02/2024 14:47

@Nocoffeenotalkie - that’s a shame your consultant appointment was a bit of a waste of time. I’ve got my first one on Thursday next week and not sure what to expect. My son was born at 28weeks due to preeclampsia so I’m hoping they’ll be a bit proactive.

I told my midwife I want an ELC and have no interest in trying for VBAC and she didn’t question it. Will be interesting to see what the consultant says now. I did read an NHS thing in the Badger app about the pros and cons of both and it seems like it’s risky either way. For me, mental health wise I’d prefer the ELC as I don’t want the process of mentally preparing myself for one thing and ending up in an emergency the other way again - I think I’d rather know that emergency or hopefully non-emergent it’ll be a section either way.

Nocoffeenotalkie · 02/02/2024 15:43

@Amberellaella her weight wasn't tiny but she said because she was born at 41+3 it's more of an issue on the centile lines. She was 6lb 8

Julymumtobe · 02/02/2024 18:02

I had my 16 week midwife appointment yesterday and she did check for a heartbeat! I was really surprised as seen so many of you on here saying it didn’t happen on your appointments. I think it’s really unfair that they do it in some areas and not others 🥺

Alwaystired2023 · 02/02/2024 21:08

Oh god I had my 16 week app this week and she struggled to find the heartbeat! Told me she might have to send me to hosp, then went to get a colleague who similarly struggled... then they agreed they could hear it behind the swooshing of the placenta blood and then they heard it clearly for a split second

So that was all super reassuring

I'm just choosing to believe everything is fine and just going to wait until 20 week scan

To be fair reading all of your comments about how some Trusts no longer use the Doppler etc makes me feel a bit better eh

CB2805 · 02/02/2024 21:23

Had my 16w appointment today as well ladies. I can confirm it was such a waste of time for me as well. I was in and out within 2-3 min!! She took blood pressure and checked urine and that was it, off I go. She didn’t even have any answers to my question or even if she did was accompanied with I believe.., I’m not quite sure but.., I hope that.. so not that reassuring at all.

On the bride side I had a private scan, was confirmed bubbas are a girl and a boy officially🫶🏻 and they doing really well so I’m so glad for that!

ceruleansky · 03/02/2024 13:15

@CB2805
Aww congratulations!! How sweet 💗

My appetite has slowly but steadily increased. I bought several snacks today. haven't had some of these snacks since i was a kid. Oddly got reminded of my grandpa who passed. He used to buy me these snacks and i missed him. 😅
