Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

@pleasehelp5 I don't think the vaccine has thalidomide in it has it? Had a quick Google and could only find some info that it was found to be safe in pregnancy but there was some confusion in the 1970s which then led to outbreaks of whooping cough in those years. Anyway, had it in my first pregnancy and no problems so will happily get it again.

Thanks for your message, no it doesn't have thalidomide in it, sorry I put that message wrong I was just referring to what happened to the babies of women that had it back in the day x

@pleasehelp5 I got the whooping cough one with DS (I wasn't allowed to get it as a baby myself) and it was absolutely fine. No side effects at all. It protects the mother and the newborn and is hardly a new vaccine. I'll get it in the third trimester, towards the end of pregnancy. Whooping cough is horrible. I wouldn't want my baby catching it.
I've also been offered the flu vaccine and had that last time as well. There are a few others that are recommended here and I will talk that through with my GP or OB/GYN once we get to the stage where I can have them.
Both DH and I are teachers and DS has always been in nursery/school, so it's very likely one of us will catch whatever is going round. I'd rather be vaccinated and have my children vaccinated as well.

Thank you for your advice x

Morningcoffeeaddict · 24/01/2024 06:34

@pleasehelp5 - another one who had it last time and will have it again. As above it’s not a new vaccine particularly and it protects the baby rather than doing anything for you - whooping cough is a horrible thing for a baby to go through. Equally as above though do your research on the pros and cons and see what you’re comfortable with in the end.

Thank you for your advice, I will have other chats and do some more research x

Vittoriosa · 24/01/2024 06:56

I am also not overly keen on rushing into getting jabs however I did get whooping cough one in 2013 and 2014 with both kids and will get it again. No side effects for any of us.

HDready · 24/01/2024 07:05

Whooping cough vaccine has been widely offered in this country since about 2012. It is not a new vaccine. Whooping cough is awful in small babies. I had in both pregnancies and will have it again this time.

Savvy21 · 24/01/2024 07:09

@pleasehelp5 Ah I see. I'd look at the Tommy's website if you're unsure. As they're a charity looking into the risks of miscarriage, I'd trust what they say. As others have said, whooping cough is dangerous for newborns.

ceruleansky · 24/01/2024 07:33

@Cattattack
Thanks for the info! I did Google it but I couldn't find a lot of issues with either. I think only the low lying ones are cause for concern.

Is it just me or is the baby basically saying 😛

Morningcoffeeaddict · 24/01/2024 10:02

@ceruleansky - definitely looks like that’s what baby is doing! How cute!

ceruleansky · 24/01/2024 10:20

@Morningcoffeeaddict
Thank you! Seeing the scans made it all seem even more surreal. I can't believe they take shape so early. My mum started crying. 😅 how are you doing today?

Morningcoffeeaddict · 24/01/2024 10:27

@ceruleansky its amazing isn’t it! Like they’re basically formed at this stage they just need to grow - crazy when you see it / think about it!
That’s such a sweet reaction from your mum, my in laws cried as well. We’ve had a tough year as a family so it’s lovely to have a new baby on the way.
I’m doing ok today - how are you? Only thing driving me mad is the brain fog. My boss has had to pull me up on a few things I’ve missed recently and it’s very frustrating.

ceruleansky · 24/01/2024 11:13

@Morningcoffeeaddict
Absolutely! My mum said the same thing you said; now the baby just has to grow.
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope the days that follow bring you tons of joy with your little one!
Hm, i understand what you mean. The brain fog is really a problem. I'm starting to forget things. I manage a team and these days i have no idea what they're talking about so it feels like I'm losing control. Today's been a bit difficult. I tried to be healthy and ate spinach. It made me sick. I also got really dizzy and had to sleep immediately. I've taken the rest of the day off work.

bringmearainbow · 24/01/2024 14:12

Hey ladies sorry I've been super absent on here it's been such a busy couple of months and I've still been feeling really crappy 🙄 having days of nausea still at 16+4 😭 had my 16 week midwife appointment this morning heard babies heartbeat which was lovely ❤️ then heard some kicks but felt nothing as have another anterior placenta 🥴 also had my whooping cough vaccine and flu jab but declined the Covid one they really do not agree with me at all. we had a scan on Friday but bubs wasn't playing ball at all upside down and not bothering to wiggle into a better position 🤦🏼‍♀️

Love seeing the scans pictures!

I'm so very tired today. Not at work luckily but slept until lunchtime only showered at 2:30pm. Just no energy for anything.

Had my 12 week scan but feel like they're is such a huge gap between 12 and 20 week scan with no reassurance. Think we will book a private 16 week scan as I am so nervous with this pregnancy being higher risk due to my age

ExpectantEs · 25/01/2024 10:52

Morning Ladies. Had my 16 week midwife appointment today. All went well.
When trying to hear my babies heartbeat, it took about a good 2 minutes before we could find the baby. My midwife is lovely and was reassuring but I could still tell she was trying her hardest to find it.

I was so worried that we would end the appointment without hearing it. But eventually we found the baby and it was a lovely strong heartbeat.

4 more weeks until my 20 week scan!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 25/01/2024 10:55

@Nocoffeenotalkie - also thinking of booking an in between scan, we’ve discussed having an extra private one anyway so we can let our son come along - he’s loved seeing the scan pictures but seeing baby move is something else.

I have midwife and consultant appointments already at 16weeks though so we’ll see how we go (and if the consultant orders any extra scans In the meantime)

ExpectantEs · 25/01/2024 10:57

@Nocoffeenotalkie I completely understand how you feel. Waiting until this 16 week appointment felt like forever. Hearing the heartbeat today at my midwife appointment makes me feel that I'll able to wait another 4 weeks.

However, there is no harm in booking a private appointment. The waiting around can be frustrating.

bringmearainbow · 25/01/2024 10:57

@ExpectantEs it's lovely hearing it isn't it. My midwife said to me that some trusts don't listen for the heartbeat until 26 weeks 😳🙈

ExpectantEs · 25/01/2024 11:17

@bringmearainbow It was literally music to my ears. Wish I could hear it every day.
26 weeks?? I'm feeling grateful for my Trust!

How's your bump/uterus getting on? I think I felt some kicks the other day for about 2 minutes - but it was more like muscle twitches. I don't know if it was in my imagination

Bali200 · 25/01/2024 12:03

@ExpectantEs @bringmearainbow I’ve just had my 16 week appointment and my trust doesn’t listen to the heartbeat which is a shame! I did hear it at a 14 weeks private scan though and bought a heartbeat bear so I keep squeezing the bear to hear it haha!

Still not felt any flutters at 16+3 but my bump is big and I keep having stretching growing pains which makes me feel reassured 💗

Yummum19 · 25/01/2024 12:28

Has anyone started getting their 20 week scan dates through yet? I just logged onto badger app and see I’ve got mine booked for Valentines Day ❤️ I’m so excited!! Still unsure on whether we are going to find out the sex or not. What is everyone else doing?!

justanotherlaura · 25/01/2024 13:22

@Yummum19 I have my 20 week scan the day after you, the 15th :) how sweet having it on Valentine's Day!

We have a private scan on Sunday to find out the sex because our hospital won't tell you the sex at the 20 week scan in case they are wrong and get sued :(

ExpectantEs · 25/01/2024 13:23

@Bali200 Aww - the heartbeat bear is such a good idea. I should've recorded the heartbeat but I didn't think about it at the time.

Is this your first baby? Everyone is saying it's unlikely I would feel kicks/flutters at 16+5 FTM, so I'm going to just going to see how it goes.

@Yummum19 Yours is so soon! Mine is week after yours.
I'm 100% finding out the sex! For me, I just want to be able to picture the baby in my imagination a little more. I'm a day dreamer :)

Bali200 · 25/01/2024 13:58

@ExpectantEs yeah the bear is super cute 🫶🏼, I’ve got another private scan on Sunday too so hoping to hear it then as well. (I’m super anxious after a MMC in the summer so have been having scans every 2-3 weeks)

Yes it’s my first baby too, I can’t wait to feel flutters but I know it’s still early, my midwife did say today that you can start feeling flutters from 16 weeks so don’t listen to anyone who’s telling you it’s unlikely, it probably is bubs! Are you going to wait till 20 week scan to find out the sex?

ExpectantEs · 25/01/2024 17:14

@Bali200 I totally understand! There's no harm in frequent scans - more chances to see bubba ❤️ Yeah I'm going to wait until 20 week scan to find out! Are you finding out earlier?

wannabe123 · 25/01/2024 17:32

@ExpectantEs I had my 16 week check up the other day and baby was also not wanting to let us hear their heart beat. There was a student midwife who tried first, they tried another Doppler and then eventually we heard it this about a minute before they ran off again! Heated lots of wooshes which was baby moving apparently. Midwife also reckons I've got an anterior placenta. I had one last time and was hoping for posterior this time so I could feel kicks easier but never mind 🤷🏼‍♀️
