Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

@wannabe123 every second waiting feels like eternity doesn't it. I would love to know if I have an anterior or posterior placenta. I don't think there's much difference other than when you feel the baby kick right?

I did read somewhere that anterior is preferential? Can't remember if I'm making that up though

starryeyed19 · 25/01/2024 18:39

Just saying a quick hello! I'm due on 22nd July! Looking forward to getting to know you all x

It felt like an eternity! I was trying not to panic but it was hard!
The midwife said there was a lot of noise when she was trying to find the heartbeat which made her think anterior.

Feeling movements with an anterior placenta can be harder. I don't know if there is medically one better than the other though.

Savvy21 · 25/01/2024 19:02

@starryeyed19 congratulations and hello. How are you doing?

Welshgal85 · 25/01/2024 20:01

Did you all take your partner with you to the midwife appointment? I’ve got the first one coming up and not sure what to expect from it!

Do they listen for the heartbeat at every appointment?

Nocoffeenotalkie · 25/01/2024 20:19

Hi @starryeyed19. We're due date buddies! Hope you're feeling well

Morningcoffeeaddict · 25/01/2024 20:20

@Welshgal85 - they like your partner to not be there for one of the appointments so they can ask you the questions checking if you’re at any risk of DV, but your partner is welcome to attend any of the appointments- up to you really.

I normally leave my husband out for the booking appointment as it’s long winded and dull (lots of medical history stuff) and then he’s come from 16weeks once it tends to be nicer things like listening to the heartbeat. Although that was the plan last time around and then Covid put an end to our plans. Think he’s excited about being allowed to come this time around!

BananaHammock23 · 25/01/2024 20:26

@Welshgal85 I've been to all my midwife appointments on my own but DP comes to scans. Midwife appointments tend to be boring!

Amberellaella · 25/01/2024 21:21

Hello everyone, mind if I join? Got a little boy due 11th July (all being well ☺️) and already have a DD who is 2.5 x

ceruleansky · 26/01/2024 04:07

I got the results of my triple screening for NT and the t21 is low risk 1:980 but the "t21 biochem only" says 1:175, increased risk. Does anyone know what it means?

I tried looking it up but found no info.

ceruleansky · 26/01/2024 07:20

Well I met my doctor and she said they don't usually consider this marker at all if the main marker is low risk, which it is.
Yet, just to be on the safe side I've been prescribed a NIPT test.
Kind of worried now to rule out any abnormalities. Trying to stay positive.

Amberellaella · 26/01/2024 07:24

Sorry to hear you have to go through that @ceruleansky. But hopefully you shouldn’t have to worry for long - I paid privately for the NIPT at 10 weeks because I’m 41. It was very easy and the results came back within days.

CMRC17 · 26/01/2024 08:07

Hi everyone :) not posted on here in a while! Glad to see that everyone seems to be doing fine. I had my 16 week appointment on Wednesday and heard the baby’s heartbeat which was lovely!

just seen the messages about the whooping cough vaccine - I will probably get this but my midwife said it wasn’t offered until 20 weeks plus so I’ll have to wait for a while. I have had a phone call about booking in a flu jab - wondering if many of you guys have had this and if you felt any symptoms after? I’m going on holiday next weekend so might try and avoid getting it until when I’m back if there’s going to be any symptoms attached. (Already worried about being suuuper tired as it’s a busy city break holiday so don’t want to be feeling ill as well!!)

I haven’t bought any maternity clothes yet but I have switched my trousers so I’m only wearing things with elasticated waists 😂even at 13 weeks I felt some of my trousers were way too tight, so I’ll probs have to start buying maternity clothes soon. I still can’t decide if I have a bump or if it’s just bloating from all the food I’ve been enjoying 😂I think I’m starting to get a bit of a bump though, I definitely feel like my belly is stretching a bit.

bit of a niche question here but wondered if anyone has or has had a belly button piercing and what they did with it during pregnancy? I’m not sure whether to take mine out or get a maternity belly bar. If anyone has any recommendations that would be super helpful! I’ve not taken the piercing out since I got it done about 8 years ago so im a bit curious how its going to look / feel !

CMRC17 · 26/01/2024 08:09

@ceruleansky wishing you luck here - I wouldn’t worry too much if the main marker is low risk :)

ceruleansky · 26/01/2024 08:46

My doctor said 99.5% everything's normal but the NIPT will help resolve the .5% doubt!

@Amberellaella
thank you for reassuring me. She did say it's probably calculated this way due to my age (32).

@CMRC17
Yes I'm hoping for the same! I'm also positive about it, I know people who have had lower odds but their babies didn't have Down's.
Congratulations on your appt. going well! Hearing the baby's heartbeat is always such a blessing. I got to see my baby today. They were scrunched up and cross legged waving with one arm.
No idea about the bellybutton piercing! That's an interesting thought. Ive only heard they're not allowed during MRIs.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 26/01/2024 11:15

@ceruleansky - doesn’t sound like your doctor is too worried but fingers crossed all goes well. It’s good they’re getting the extra test for reassurance!

@CMRC17 - I had the flu jab a couple of weeks ago and was fine - arm too sore to sleep on that side for a few days but that was it. MIL gets it every year and always feels rough for about 24hours afterwards so I guess it depends how sensitive you are on whether you get side effects?

On the piercing - if you go no bar at all then the piercing will usually close in pregnancy. I hadn’t worn mine in years but the hole was still there until pregnancy and then it closed - I’ve got like a tiny scar now but no way would I get a bar through. Weirdly my ear piercings also closed when I was pregnant with my son, but I don’t think that’s normal.

Jess725 · 26/01/2024 11:44

I just had my 16 week appointment and they didn’t use the doppler 😥 so so gutted nooooooooo

from an emotional preggo xxx 😆

justanotherlaura · 26/01/2024 12:45

I had my 16 week appointment this morning too and no offer to hear the heartbeat :(

Jess725 · 26/01/2024 12:53

@justanotherlaura oh nooo I’m so sorry!!

ceruleansky · 26/01/2024 12:55

@Morningcoffeeaddict
Yes, hoping for the best.. how are you doing today?

She also said my cervix is short. 3.1, compared to the norm 3.5. So I've been asked not to exercise, walk, squat and no Intercourse. Going on 4 months of no intercourse! I think I'm headed towards a c sec.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 26/01/2024 13:01

@ceruleansky - I’m having a nightmare with tight glutes and a sore lower back the last couple of days. Think it’s because bump is stretching out but if I sit too long I get stuck which is not ideal with a desk job!

I can’t bear the thought of intercourse when I’m pregnant tbh so no action going on in this house either! I’m planning a second c sec, first was an emergency with premature baby so keen to avoid that but it feels better for me mentally to be preparing for a c sec (be that at term or not) rather than hoping for vbac. I see so many posts about women hoping for vbac that I think I’m an oddity though!

Julymumtobe · 26/01/2024 13:23

@CMRC17 I had the flu jab with no side effects at all.
I’m planning to use a stretchy belly bar so the piercing doesn’t close up. My first pregnancy, but I know my step mum used one with my little sister quite a few years ago now and she said it worked great. It seems silly but I don’t want it to close up as there’s enough other changes to my body right now so I’ll be happy to put my piercing back in post pregnancy!

ceruleansky · 26/01/2024 13:38

@Morningcoffeeaddict
Sorry to hear that! Have they suggested anything to relieve the discomfort? Maybe a break every 30 mins or so or a hot compress?

I've heard it helps especially during the third trimester to stretch the pelvis and release oxytocin, but my doctor said that sperm contains some compound that results in the cervix opening up.

Everything will go well this time! It's better to go with what you're comfortable with and what your body can handle. I hate that people think c sec is the "easy way out". I wanted to try a vaginally birth since it's my first but I don't mind either, as long as we're both safe. And honestly you just can't predict sometimes.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 26/01/2024 14:13

@ceruleansky - my midwife is on holiday at the moment so I can’t ask her but the massage therapist I see at the gym has given me a massage ball to try and roll it out plus I’ve been doing some yoga that does release things for a bit. I work from home so luckily no one can see me getting up for a little stretch every half hour or so!

Maybe so - I didn’t have much of a third trimester last time so maybe I’ll find out this time around!

I hope so! And I’m hoping recovery is easier from a planned section. I’d been in hospital on bed rest for a week when they did my first so I struggled to stand for a few days after the section. Definitely not the easy way out, my main concern this time with one is not being able to lift my little boy and trying to explain to him he needs to be careful of my scar

ceruleansky · 26/01/2024 14:53

@Morningcoffeeaddict
Sounds like a plan! Hope it provides you with more relief. Working from home is a blessing!

Ah I see..
That sounds really difficult. I hope things go much smoother this time, but with any surgery the recovery is always hard, especially with a toddler who doesn't understand why they're not allowed on or near you. I'm sure your clever little boy will understand. :)
