Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

@Bali200 a girl ❤️❤️❤️ amazing! That’s very exciting. Oh no, but now I need to know!! Everyone guessing around me says boy (nobody has said girl!) but I’m convinced I’m having a girl too. I guess it’s 50/50😆

@justanotherlaura oh yes!! I think that’s fully justified! Do you think you’re having a boy?
we also have pattern of first is boy second is girl but knowing us, I’ll break that!! Hurry up Sunday!

Busyhedgehog · 22/01/2024 16:08

@Jess725 We've just had our NIPT result today and it's a girl. 😁 Our OB/GYN was sure it was a boy at the last scan and we had a 70% chance of it being a boy (IVF pregnancy so we knew the embryo grading). This is quite a shock...in a nice way. 😀

Woodenmouse87 · 22/01/2024 16:45

Hi, im due July 19th! This is baby number 5 (one loss). I have 3 boys and a stepdaughter. My youngest is 6 so I feel a bit out of the pregnancy loop! Is there a Facebook group? I'm still part of my youngest Facebook group even now.

MoonIightDreamer · 22/01/2024 18:17

@Busyhedgehog congrats a beautiful baby girl. I'm due 16th July after my ivf round. First baby for me. I can't decide whether to find out the gender or not

MrsHousePlant · 22/01/2024 18:45

@Julymumtobe that’s exactly what happened to me. I tried to do too much and was hit by nausea and exhaustion that I thought was getting better. Using all the reasons to rest now though and I do feel better for just accepting it!

Julymumtobe · 22/01/2024 19:22

@MrsHousePlant I think that’s exactly it, just accepting it and resting as much as possible. I’m hoping that the second trimester brings more energy and less nausea at some point though!

CheshGirl · 22/01/2024 21:14

16 weeks here, we're not finding out this time as already have a little boy and a little girl and so want a surprise this time!

Will be having another homebirth with my husband telling me the sex!

Gut feel - girl!!! Haha

Going for a much more heart centred pregnancy this time, not quite "wild" but entering into everything with a lot more research since completing my doula training.

Leaning into my intuition has been so beautiful this time round

Morningcoffeeaddict · 22/01/2024 21:30

We had a surprise with our son and it was just lovely - the doctors let my husband be the one to tell me and it’s such a special memory from the birth.

I think this time we’re going to find out but mostly for my son so we can talk about it being baby brother/sister and help him prepare a bit for what’s coming. Only 14weeks so a few weeks to go before we can find out but gut feel from us is it’s another boy.

Jess725 · 22/01/2024 21:51

@Busyhedgehog wow that must have been wild being so sure on an answer and then it being flipped. Congrats ❤️

I am super intrigued to see if my gut feeling is correct whenever I do find out. Loving reading people being surprised at birth, if I have any more I will definitely be doing that 🥰

ceruleansky · 23/01/2024 08:00

Just had my NT scan and all the measurements came out to be normal. Only the baby's femur length makes
measures 12w4d even though I'm 13wks so slightly shorter. I hope it's nothing serious and that it gets into the normal percentile.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 23/01/2024 11:32

@ceruleansky - Glad the NT part went well. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about, I didn’t think they usually measured femur this early tbh as they’re so little just CRL. At mine she just noted she’d seen arms/legs etc - no measurement. I think every measurement was a few days different at my sons 20 week scan and he’s fine, I remember my friend’s daughters legs measuring way ahead at hers and she’s just a tall child.

justanotherlaura · 23/01/2024 11:49

@ceruleansky in my last pregnancy I got growth scans at 36 and 38 weeks, they use femur length to estimate weight. I was told he would be 9.5lbs at birth and he was only 7.12lbs, turns out he's just got long legs! These things are only estimates, hopefully it'll be all caught up by the 20 week scan

At my 12 week scan baby was stretching and wouldn't scrunch up so I was measuring 4 days further ahead than I was happy with, the sonographer spent ages trying to get the date right. All measurements were crown to rump, no femur measurement for me too

ceruleansky · 23/01/2024 12:07

@Morningcoffeeaddict
Hmm I didn't really know what to expect during the scan. CRL is in the 44.2 percentile. The sonographer did say the baby is perfectly fine so I'm happy! I see, I assumed a few days ahead/ behind this early shouldn't be a cause for concern.. How are you doing today?

@justanotherlaura
Oh wow, they made you mentally prepare for a big baby! Yup hope the little one catches up..
Oh wow, yeah I think they really need the baby to be in the perfect position to get all the views. Today, she said my bladder was too full and she couldn't see. I had to empty it and then she made me wait a whole hour which made it full again! Had to empty it again but she finally got what she wanted.

ceruleansky · 23/01/2024 13:10

Also have a posterior placenta and I have no idea what that means.

Cattattack · 23/01/2024 14:20

ceruleansky · 23/01/2024 13:10

Also have a posterior placenta and I have no idea what that means.

it's just where your placenta is attached; posterior means the back of the uterus and anterior means it's attached itself to the front. Both are common and neither would affect baby's growth.

I've read with posterior you'd likely feel baby movements sooner as there's less space between the baby and your abdomen, but does have associations with premature labour because of the blood flow at the back of the uterus being less efficient. All interesting to know!

TWellsWellsy · 23/01/2024 15:50

@Busyhedgehog @Julymumtobe thank you - it's kind of nice to know I'm not the only one! I've felt knackered the past couple of days and luckily I have great boss...just hoping it passes soon!

We also have a scan on Sunday (will be 16+3) ...my OH is desperate to find out gender but I really want a surprise! I've given him permission to find out but he is swore to secrecy! Let's see how long that lasts 🤣

MummyBear2519 · 23/01/2024 18:03

I am meeting my consultant tomorrow for the first time and having a scan, will be 16+5 and desperate to know if it’s 2 boys or 2 girls. Hoping she will have a look and let us know.
An odd reason I need to know but my daughter was prem and I was really unwell, son I sailed through with so although I doubt it was genders that had anything to do with it I feel knowing will help me mentally prepare.
My MIL wants a gender reveal as it’s her last grandchildren 🙄but that’s really not me. I was planning to just send a text. I’m refusing a baby shower as well but agreed to a bbq for everyone to get together before the twins arrive

CB2805 · 23/01/2024 18:12

@MummyBear2519 so exciting❤️ i bet they will have a hint about gender by now. My scan tech gave me an idea from my 13w scan and I was so excited🤭
I can feel you about all the gender reveal and baby showers, my partners family is pushing me so hard for all of that but honestly I’m not feeling it! Not sure how to avoid tho😂

im having my first consultant appointment tomorrow as well. Is it mentioned on your booking that you will have a scan as well? On mine doesn’t say anything but I would love to have a scan as well to check on babies

MummyBear2519 · 23/01/2024 18:20

@CB2805 yes I was told at my 12 week scan that from 16 weeks I would have scans every 2 weeks to check their growth as they share a placenta.
It still feels weird using plurals!
My OH is happy to do whatever I want and in no way feels he needs to appease his mum but we shall see after tomorrow as the bets are on at work.

pleasehelp5 · 23/01/2024 21:27

Evening lovelies, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the whooping cough vaccine whilst pregnant? I'm a bit hesitant because of the whole Thalidomide situation - I'm by no means an anti vaxxer or anything like that although I didn't fancy getting the Covid jab whilst pregnant because I don't feel like it's been around long enough ( I did have it pre pregnancy). Just a bit worried is all and wondering if anyone else had any concerns x

Savvy21 · 23/01/2024 21:44

@pleasehelp5 I don't think the vaccine has thalidomide in it has it? Had a quick Google and could only find some info that it was found to be safe in pregnancy but there was some confusion in the 1970s which then led to outbreaks of whooping cough in those years. Anyway, had it in my first pregnancy and no problems so will happily get it again.

Cherubs4 · 23/01/2024 21:59

@pleasehelp5 I won't be getting it. It's my fourth child and the only pregnancy I've been offered it. I wouldn't want to risk any side effects.

It's natural and wise to weigh up the pros and cons of anything that carries risk, including vaccines - please don't feel the need to explicitly state that you're not anti-vax. I think we need to put that divisive term behind us. There are of course side effects to any injection - there should be an information leaflet available to look into those and decide if it's something you feel is right or not.

Busyhedgehog · 24/01/2024 05:03

@pleasehelp5 I got the whooping cough one with DS (I wasn't allowed to get it as a baby myself) and it was absolutely fine. No side effects at all. It protects the mother and the newborn and is hardly a new vaccine. I'll get it in the third trimester, towards the end of pregnancy. Whooping cough is horrible. I wouldn't want my baby catching it.
I've also been offered the flu vaccine and had that last time as well. There are a few others that are recommended here and I will talk that through with my GP or OB/GYN once we get to the stage where I can have them.
Both DH and I are teachers and DS has always been in nursery/school, so it's very likely one of us will catch whatever is going round. I'd rather be vaccinated and have my children vaccinated as well.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 24/01/2024 06:34

@pleasehelp5 - another one who had it last time and will have it again. As above it’s not a new vaccine particularly and it protects the baby rather than doing anything for you - whooping cough is a horrible thing for a baby to go through. Equally as above though do your research on the pros and cons and see what you’re comfortable with in the end.

pleasehelp5 · 24/01/2024 06:40

Thanks for your advice, sorry I just didn't want to start anything political in here that's all.
My thoughts always were I would never get any jab whilst I was pregnant because of what happened back in the day because of the thalidomide situation. I spoke to the midwife about it and she said the reason it wasn't offered previously because they got rid of it in England for years but now it's back and once a baby gets it, it damages their lungs for life, that's what's got me more concerned because I suffer with asthma bad and I didn't want little bean to suffer like I have. But part of me is still against getting anything whilst pregnant x
