Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

Hiya,

New here, first pregnancy and first time posting. Currently 11+4 due 15th July, and have my first 12 week scan next week :)

Excited for the first scan and to see the ultrasound. Still doesn’t feel real despite the tiredness, new massive sore breasts and morning sickness!

Hoping to go abroad in the second trimester for some sun, anyone got any recommendations for timings in the second trimester which would be good to go on holiday? (If there is a good time). And any destination recommendations, currently thinking Canary Islands as looking at March.

Not booking anything until after the first scan.

Thanks :)

AnonymousXXIX · 29/12/2023 09:49

Hi @CheesePlease24 ·: ) Congratulations!

Last time I was pregnant we did a road trip around Crete at 28 weeks (in September) and it was glorious. No nausea any more, but still able to do long hikes. My husband had to drink all the complementary rakia though at every meal hahaha.

It's different for everyone though, mind. I was able to move like nothing was going on till 36 weeks (and was then floored by pelvic pain). Also check airline travel restrictions! I was denied boarding on a flight at 32 weeks despite numerous medical declarations!! And make sure you have solid travel insurance of course + avoid areas with zika and malaria etc.

ExpectantEs · 29/12/2023 10:08

@Morningcoffeeaddict I'm also planning to have a noise resilient child. I heard if you hoover & play music & talk loudly from when they're born then they become accustomed to any environment lol

I can imagine it being harder with a 3 year old, my niece and nephew at that age were very active.

User491 · 29/12/2023 10:39

Morning everyone,

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas!
I lost the group as I couldn't find this second thread 🙈

I'm 10+2 today. Had a private scan at 9+1 but the twins were measuring behind at 8+3 and 8+4 they didn't seem concerned, but it's just got me worrying every now and again. The nausea pretty much stopped just a day or so before the private scan and hasn't really come back, but I am really tired and boobs still sore but not as bad as what they were early on. I'm now thinking do I get another private scan or hold off until my 12week one (16th jan, when I should be 12+6)
It's all such a worry isn't it. I have times where I'm thinking just enjoy the time now, then go into panic mode 🙈

Hope everyone else is doing well 🥰

Morningcoffeeaddict · 29/12/2023 11:18

@CheesePlease24 welcome and congrats! We were planning Tenerife for our baby moon with our first at around 16weeks but covid stopped play (we were due to fly the day after they grounded all the planes). We’ve been to lanzarote and fuerteventura since with our little one and had a lovely time in both - I don’t think you can go far wrong in the Canaries for a bit of sun by the pool / relaxing by the beach.

@ExpectantEs - I’m not sure how responsible we are for noise resistant child but I do have a photo of him fast asleep walking past a team of tree surgeons felling a tree and figured if he could sleep through that he’d sleep through anything! He was a nicu baby so his first few months were all machine noises and people bustling around so I guess he never knew any different and my husband has no concept of quiet, but as with all things with babies I suspect it’s luck of the draw whether you get one that sleeps through anything or not and we’ve been very lucky

Oatmilktea · 29/12/2023 12:23

Hi @CheesePlease24, congratulations!

DP and I are hoping to go on holiday around April time, when I will be around 25 weeks. I think we will go to Tenerife as there will be a good chance of getting some sun. We have also booked a week in the north of Scotland when I will be 30 weeks, hopefully I’ll be fit to go!

AnonymousXXIX · 29/12/2023 12:59

Oh give me your noise tips! Our baby slept through anything the first 4 months, and through the night too! Hoovering, pubs, and notably a rock concert. And then it all changed and like even a creaky plank has caused wakes. It's getting better now at 2 years but even last night someone closing a door on a different floor meant a wake up uugh.

Bali200 · 29/12/2023 13:02

Hi @CheesePlease24 I think I’m going to go to Tenerife when I’ll be 20 weeks, not booking anything yet though x

Vittoriosa · 29/12/2023 13:09

Hello! Glad to have found new thread. I’m 11 plus 5 today, due 14th July. Unfortunately ended up very ill over Xmas Eve/morning and ended up in A and E Xmas morning with bowel pain and bleeding both ways. Thankfully I managed to get a scan Boxing day which showed baby still ok. My 12 week scan will annoyingly be 13+2 on 9th…just can’t wait to tick that off now and hopefully things will settle down

Laylamoxx · 29/12/2023 17:37

Thanks everyone for the responses on my blood test results question. I think I won’t hear anything back unless there is an issue.

13 weeks today! Can’t believe how fast time is going. I had my scan and my official due date is the 5th, which is exactly what I thought it would be. Baby was sooo active! Would not stop moving during my scan, even made my sonographer laugh haha. Not sure if was the coffee and the croissants I had before 😂

Emily3003 · 29/12/2023 18:37

Hello, I’m new here, literally joined mumsnet today :) I’m currently 10 + 2 with my first (eek) and waiting for my first scan appointment letter to come through, can anyone advise if you are able to select a time or are you just given a slot? Really want my partner to come in-between his work! Thanks x

BananaHammock23 · 29/12/2023 18:42

Interesting to read all the SMP chat. I'm self employed and went back to work when my DS (now 2.5) was 4 months old, it was far too soon but I couldn't afford to stay on SMP any longer. Luckily managed childcare between DP and my parents so we made it work. This time we're remortgaging as our fixed rate is up and will release some equity so I can have a decent mat leave. It's the only way we can afford to do it.

I'm 13 weeks today and getting more anxious by the day. I had my 12 week scan at exactly 12 weeks last week and everything was fine but I just feel so worried I'll turn up to the next scan at 16 weeks and the baby will be gone. Think a mixture of IVF hormones + trauma from a recent loss that's making me feel crazy. It's hard when the morning sickness goes away but you're still not showing and you don't feel pregnant anymore!

BananaHammock23 · 29/12/2023 18:44

@Laylamoxx we've got the same due date! I had the same issue with the scan too, baby wouldn't stop moving but it meant it was in the wrong position for screening so we have to go back at 16 weeks!

@Emily3003 I think it probably depends on where your hospital but we've always been given the scan time and date. You can ring to change it but whenever we've had to do this it's been weeks behind.

Savvy21 · 30/12/2023 15:39

@bringmearainbow @ExpectantEs Had my 12 week scan and was really dreading it. Felt like the longest time before she said heartbeat seen. But everything seems to be ok and I have the same due date as you both too. Still feel a little anxious and like it's not real though.

ExpectantEs · 30/12/2023 17:03

@Savvy21 Another July 6th baby 😃

I understand how you feel. I look at my scan picture about a million times a day to remind myself that it's happening. I have a little tiny weeny bump as well, but could be that I've eaten more during the festive period.

Try and take each day as it comes, that's what I'm doing - 27 weeks to go. Feels like ages

Macccc · 30/12/2023 19:55

I’m 10 weeks today and have just had some pink discharge, had a teeny wee streak of red in it. I had a scan at 7+2 which showed the heartbeat. I’m already booked for another scan on Thursday when I’ll be 10+5. Think my EPU will be closed till Wednesday anyway with the public holidays so not sure if it’s worth waiting to see if it gets any worse or phoning the ward just now? I had a MMC in September and am trying not to freak out!

Emily3003 · 30/12/2023 20:23

I got my dating scan confirmation letter through today! It’s on 15th Jan which will be in my 11th week. Feeling a bit crampy in my belly today, but I read that’s normal. Trying to stay relaxed 😅

BananaHammock23 · 30/12/2023 21:37

@Macccc it's so hard not to spiral after a loss. I had a pink 'bleed' at about 9 weeks and was convinced I was losing the baby (after a traumatic ectopic a few months ago). I went for a scan and everything was fine, they found a small patch of bruising that they thought it was coming from. I continued to have pink bleeding for around 2 weeks. Now 13+1 and everything is ok (or at least it was at my 12 week scan last Friday!). Hope everything's ok for you - I would call the EPU asap to see if they can advise or if closed maybe try the gynae team?

Macccc · 31/12/2023 09:06

@BananaHammock23 aw it really is isn’t it! Glad everything’s looking good for you, hopefully you’re feeling more reassured after your 12 week scan! Thank you, I’m going to give them a phone now and let them know, not had any more bleeding but have had a bit of a uncomfortable feeling in my stomach, not sure if that’s just in my head tho to be honest!

ceruleansky · 31/12/2023 09:06

My doctor has scheduled my NT scan close to my 14th week (13+6). I don't know why she wants to do it that late. Is that normal? I heard it's usually done week 11-13.

CB2805 · 31/12/2023 10:23

@ceruleansky same thing happened to me. They booked my NT scan at 13+5 at first. I went for an EPU scan at 9weeks due to spotting and the lady who was doing it she moved forward my scan to 12+5 as she said she might be to late then especially if babies grow faster than expected.
I would give them a call and see what they think?
honestly in my case I was blessed with the sonographer as my midwife completely ignored what I was saying to her in general

BananaHammock23 · 31/12/2023 10:51

@ceruleansky @CB2805 interesting re baby growing faster so not always being possible later. We had our NT scan at exactly 12 weeks but the baby wasn't in the right position so it's been booked in again for 16 weeks... I wonder whether I should query this.

Bali200 · 31/12/2023 11:06

@BananaHammock23 I was under the impression the NT check needed to be done before 14 weeks but I could be wrong. Definitely worth double checking though!

ceruleansky · 31/12/2023 13:04

@CB2805
Hm that's strange! I don't know where but I read that after 13 weeks it's too late to take that scan.
I had 2 early pregnancy scans tho, one at 6 weeks and one at 8 so maybe she wants a longer gap or something. I'm meeting her on Monday so I'll recheck!

@BananaHammock23
That's interesting! Probably each case is unique. I wish you all the best for your scan!

@Bali200
You're right, but I've heard anything post 13 is too late. I don't know how far it's true. Maybe it differs person to person.

ExpectantEs · 31/12/2023 21:01

Hope you all have a Happy New Year!

2024 is the year we have our babies! (Positive thinking) 🎉
