@thislittlebird We went to Bath before our son was born and it was a lovely relaxing trip. Even if it was still under Covid conditions 😂

This time around all we can fit in is a night away for my husband's birthday in April but we're just going into London for a meal and cocktails/mocktails.

thislittlebird · 19/03/2024 15:29

@TheBirdintheCave we had a couple of good, quiet trips during covid and one very bad one!

Anyone know if the walk in antenatal clinics where you go for reduced foetal movement are open beyond 5? I have barely felt anything today (maybe 10 kicks vs about 30 or 40 by this time yesterday) and thinking I might go but worried I’ll be stuck with a&e if i go after 5.

@thislittlebird Ours is maternity triage so it's always open.

thislittlebird · 19/03/2024 18:45

@TheBirdintheCave I'm going to see if my maternity notes mention it because it's not mentioned online.

Hi ladies I’m I okay to join in? 14 weeks with my twin ivf babies ❤️❤️. Feeling very surreal still don’t feel it’s real lol don’t look pregnant at all ha .
I’ve had a quick look over but would love a wee update on we’re everyone is on their journey. I’m due end august/start September x

CollsR · 19/03/2024 20:54

@KG1244 Perhaps a silly question, if your baby is currently estimated at 4lbs 13… how would it get to 9lbs?

I’m not sure how long you have left. But even with 8 weeks left I don’t think they grow that much.

CollsR · 19/03/2024 20:58

@Waitwaitwait22 Welcome! You are more than welcome to join in and chat here. We are all due Spring (due March to May).

I believe there is a thread for IVF people due around September. That will give you more people at a similar stage. But ask away here if you want to know anything from people further along.

KG1244 · 19/03/2024 21:29

@CollsR So when I had a scan a couple of weeks ago, they said they should grow about half a pound a week which I calculated to 8lbs 13 😬 I will definitely google this though now you say it!

KG1244 · 19/03/2024 21:32

@TheBirdintheCave lucky baby with nice long legs ❤️

@thislittlebird I’m just under 5”3 so defintely blaming DH here! I’ve been getting reflexology every couple of weeks and after the session my ankles are definitely less swollen but only lasts a day or two!

KG1244 · 19/03/2024 21:33

@Waitwaitwait22 congratulations! That’s so exciting ❤️

I echo what @CollsR said, please ask away if you have any questions, this is a really supportive group. I think we are all in our third trimester now x

Doughnut89 · 20/03/2024 11:38

Morning all, how is everyone doing? I’ve been MIA for a little while but just trying to catch up on everything.
Am I right in thinking your caesarean is today @ASGIRC ? Hope it all goes smoothly, can’t wait to hear any updates as the first birth on this group 😊

@KG1244 my mum and sisters told me it’s the head and shoulder width you need to worry about more so than the weight of the baby. If it’s got a good weight hopefully gravity will help it to come out 😂 my baby’s head is measuring on the larger side so that’s a little scary 😟 I have another growth scan tomorrow so I’ll see how he’s getting on but last time he was on track to weigh 7lbs10 at birth.

@thislittlebird did you go to your antenatal / triage clinic yesterday? Hope everything’s alright x

TheBirdintheCave · 20/03/2024 11:45

I forgot to update after my scan yesterday. Baby is all good. Placenta is now 3cm away from the cervix BUT baby is still frank breech so talks of the breech clinic have begun 🙄I still got the alarmed 'Was your first baby really small??' remark from the sonographer until we confirmed that he was.

I expect (and hope!) this one will turn at some point. My son was head down and engaged by 28 weeks so this is all new to me!

Next scan in two weeks at 34+1.

CollsR · 20/03/2024 15:14

@KG1244 My baby book might be wrong but had half a pound a week on average. I'm scared too if it is a full pound every week.

@ASGIRC Good luck today!

TheBirdintheCave · 20/03/2024 15:18

@ASGIRC Eeek omg is it today?? So exciting! All of my luck to you and your little girl! <3

CollsR · 20/03/2024 22:20

@thislittlebird sorry I didn’t answer you a few weeks ago. We know we are having a boy. Our top pick for a name is currently James. Baby’s last name will be Jokka & I like the alliteration & like classic names.

KG1244 · 21/03/2024 15:39

@Doughnut89 Good to hear from you! I’m just a bit scared about birthing a big baby 😬 I’m thinking I will hold off on making a decision for now and see how the growth is for the next few weeks. How is all with you? Hope your growth scan went well

@TheBirdintheCave There is definitely still time. I was told conversations about breech baby happen around 36 weeks. Definitely try some upside down yoga moves on YouTube. I found a breech baby video on there.

@CollsR I was told half a pound a week as well so hopefully that’s right otherwise I’ll be birthing a small toddler 😂

ASGIRC · 24/03/2024 00:18

Hey guys!!
We are now home from the hospital!
It was fine, but not without a hitch... I didnt react well to the epidural, so was a bit wobbly after she was born, then had possible symptoms of post partum pre eclampsia, and also was unable to pee on my own for way longer than usual (to the point they had to manually empty my bladder with a catheter)

But all of that is now behind me and my baby girl is the best! Shes an angel!

C section recovery is fine, though. The pain is 100% bearable, Id equate it to going to the gym after a good long time and focusing on your abs. And you realise you use your abs for literally everything !!!

Also, breastfeeding did not go well, and I have now given up on it and am taking milk supression medication. The breastfeeding nurse was concerned that, with the amount of breast tissue I have, and my nipple sensitivity, that I wouldnt tolerate regular feeds, and would develop mastitis... So that was my cue to stop. I was already having to give the baby formula, as I had literally NOTHING coming out of my boobs, and baby was hungry and frustrated, and I was sore!

CollsR · 24/03/2024 07:21

@ASGIRC Congratulations on your baby girl !!! I’m so pleased to hear from you. I appreciate your honesty too. Gosh even a planned C-section can have twists and turns. Birth is always hard for the woman.

Winderful news she’s here and you are both doing well.

PollywithaP · 24/03/2024 07:43

@ASGIRC wonderful news, congratulations. I’m so glad you are all safe and well 👍

TheBirdintheCave · 24/03/2024 08:19

@ASGIRC Congratulations! Enjoy every second of her 😍 Sorry there were a few complications but I'm really glad your recovery is going well!

KG1244 · 24/03/2024 08:54

@ASGIRC ah yay! Congratulations! So pleased to hear you’re both home. Sorry to hear you had a few issues after your c section. X

thislittlebird · 26/03/2024 15:13

@ASGIRC congratulations! How are you getting on? Did you have to stay in for a few days??

How was the epidural reaction, were you feeling unwell after? The recovery pain level sounds quite good.

I have my pre op assessment date for my c section and it’s my birthday 🤪 but that’s better than a big op on my birthday.

@KG1244 how are the piles? I now have them too and I am not happy about it. Today I went to buy creams and bought Anusol ointment and suppositories only to get home and read the packet where it says don’t use them if pregnant. I’ll probably still use the cream but not the suppository maybe. I’m already very sick of it and it’s only been a week of this nonsense. I think the iron tablets caused them for me, I’ve now switched to liquid iron hoping it’ll help.

I didn’t go to the hospital the other day in the end, but I might go one day this week since I’m off work just to put my mind at ease all is well.

I’ve picked up three free packs of nappies today, from Aldi and Pampers, am making the most of the freebies!

KG1244 · 26/03/2024 18:01

@thislittlebird awkwardly, I need to get DH to check if they have changed 😂 before they have just been small and I’m 99% sure they are still there. I’ve found that using wet wipes after a poo has helped a bit.

How was your pre op appointment and would you mind reminding me when you have your c section?

I had an appointment with the consultant today and they talked about the fact that the baby is measuring big and that I’m an IVF patient so they recommended that I either have an induction at 39 weeks or have a C-section between 39 weeks and 40 weeks. I’m a bit undecided. The main thing I’m nervous about is having an induction hanging around for 48 hours potentially being in pain or not in pain and then ending up needing a c section. Does anyone have any words of wisdom? I am partly considering doing aspects of the induction like the balloon and the pessary and if there isn’t much progress, requesting a C-section which effectively wouldn’t be an emergency one to the same extent. Anyway, thanks to the baby looking like he is big. I’m off for a glucose tolerance test tomorrow yay! 😬

thislittlebird · 26/03/2024 18:22

@KG1244 oh no, maybe I’ll need to get dh to check too, I’m sure he’d love that 😭

Have you been using anything specific on them? I’ve embraced the wet wipes already and starting using creams but today they feel painful and I’m not loving it. Going to start to do my kegel exercises because they were recommended but I haven’t don’t them yet. I did download the NHS Squeezy app though.

My pre-op is on May 22nd, I’m still waiting for a section date but I’m guessing May 23rd or 27th roughly. Not super thrilled by that because I’ll be 40 weeks on May 26th. The good thing about booking in a section is that if you go into labour early they’ll still do one for you, so that’s reassuring.

I have no words of wisdom other than I really did not want to go through (days?) of induction and invasive stuff only to need an emergency c section anyway, so thought I’d just skip the first part and go straight for the c section.

Good luck with the GT test, it’s not too bad, just take a book!
