Officially 33 weeks! Every week feels so special now because I’m still anxious about a possible preterm birth. We changed hospitals for our birth because we’re are going to the city my family live to be close enough for support once baby is born. My in laws live further away so we thought it would be best to be near one family at least. Hospital transition has been really straightforward and the new hospital has booked me in for bloods so they can update their system but have all my notes to hand.

Mat leave started, hospital bag ready, final stretch now so just going to try and relax and prepare my mind and body as best I can.

i can’t wait till we are all holding our babies safe and sound ❤️

I hope you all have a wonderful Xmas and New Year ❤️

@Shrillwaffle do you mean is it common to tear if you're being induced? At my NCT class yesterday they said 90% of women have at least a first degree tear so basically it's just common whether induced or not. But have a serious tear is unlikely in whichever circumstance.

It sounds like a terrible word like it's a really traumatic injury (and for sure the more serious ones are) but a first degree probably wouldn't require stitches and even a second should heal fairly quickly without causing you much bother

AbsolutePlonker · 20/12/2023 09:09

@Shrillwaffle I induced and i tore quite badly because my induction (drip) was an emergency (due to baby doing a poo inside, meconium in the waters) and I gave birth extremely quickly.

HOWEVER, but as @LavenderSweetPea says, most women tear and it isn't a big deal.
I was petrified of tearing but I healed completely fine - eventually. Long story: I had an issue caused Lactation Induced Atrophy (basically, early menopause symptom caused by breastfeeding) which lead to lots of infections initially. Once we'd sorted that (which took a while because it's uncommon, the GP had no idea)..... I healed up super quick. My husband always says, 'you CANNOT tell you've had a baby' and I believe him!!
I did have a good look down there and it's like nothing ever happened. It's painful to begin with but you can buy loads of stuff to help, like peri bottles (but I never bothered with the expensive spray)

Haven't posted here for awhile, although i have been reading the comments just thought I would say hello this time 👋 actually feeling quite stressed - still haven't done my hospital bag with it been christmas so going to start mine & baby's in new year.. also currently 32+2 & been for a second growth scan & little madam is head down already (sonogropher said it isn't possible for a photo due to baby's position as I did ask for one) haha silly me! & her efw is 4pounds&1ounce x

Another one who's head down! She has been since 32 weeks!
Starting to feel really heavy now tbh!

Don't leave work till end of Jan, wishing I decided for start of Jan. keep reminding myself it means longer off with the baby

CheeseAndCrackersx · 20/12/2023 16:29

Wonder how many of us who are head down already will end up turning near the end just to be little tinkers 😄

CharXo · 20/12/2023 16:53

Hi ladies.. I also haven’t posted for a while so just thought I’d check in! 32 weeks now and been head down since 28weeks apparently (although that was my last midwife appointment so he could have changed several times since then!) having said that, I do feel so much pressure/heaviness down there!
I really need to get my hospital bag sorted.. so many of you are so organised! Everyday I think to myself that I’ll do it that night but by the time I get home from work and get the kids sorted etc I just haven’t got the energy!
Also counting down the weeks left at work now.. 6 more to go!

Shrillwaffle · 20/12/2023 17:56

@LavenderSweetPea @AbsolutePlonker thanks for the response 🙏🏻 I suppose there’s risk of tearing anyway I was just wondering if it was a common thing being induced and tearing badly I’m being induced at 38 weeks

@Ebonythoughts 🥳 we must have the same due date as I’m exactly 33 weeks today as well! Also scared about pre term birth I’ve been going mad thinking the house isn’t ready this isn’t ready that isn’t ready 🤯🤯 I’m getting induced at 38 weeks so only 5 weeks to go 😱

DmcinT · 20/12/2023 18:06

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX same as u I’m going to do the hospital bag after Christmas, there’s just so much going on over the next 10 days that I can’t focus on it right now😅

@CharXo I’m in each week (being high risk) and baby has been head down each time for the last 5 weeks.. then today she was transverse, I couldn’t believe it! Hoping she somersaults back🙈 I’ve noticed bump totally different shape today and feeling very stretched sideways so she must have just switched🤷🏼‍♀️😅

I’m not in for a whole 2 weeks now which is the longest since I was about 8 weeks pregnant, it’s gona feel weird not seeing her next week☺️

MrsW9 · 20/12/2023 18:08

Starting to struggle with low appetite. I've been eating loads recently so it feels quite a change. Wondering if this means baby has changed position!

DmcinT · 20/12/2023 18:23

@MrsW9 this could definitely be a sign. I’ve had very little appetite for the last 5/6 weeks when baby was head down and then today I’ve been quite hungry (she’s now transverse 🙈) I’ve eaten more by lunch time today then most full days. I’d lunch and had to go back for more I felt starved 😂

Ebonythoughts · 20/12/2023 18:40

Ah yes we are due the same time! My family think I’m mad but I started getting my hospital bag ready at 28 weeks when baby went head down because I just panicked and thought better to be safe than sorry! Hope the final 5 weeks goes ok for you and the labour goes smoothly!

Hotpolarbear · 20/12/2023 19:24

Just found this thread, currently 32+2 and fed up!

Cheetocat · 20/12/2023 21:05

My little one has showed no sign of going head down at all, hoping he does soon just so I can see what it's like. 😂

Mangotango39 · 20/12/2023 22:05

@Hotpolarbear welcome! Is there anything in particular you are struggling with?
It's definitely getting tougher! X

Shrillwaffle · 20/12/2023 23:18

@Ebonythoughts the nesting is reallllllll! I just want everything done
like right now today this minute 😅 our babies could be here whenever! My original due date is 7th feb I hope everything goes smoothly for you also 🙏🏻🥰

Shrillwaffle · 20/12/2023 23:19

@Hotpolarbear helllllllo 👋🏻 anything we can help with? ☺️ I’m 33 weeks

Hotpolarbear · 21/12/2023 01:53

I shouldn't moan, really. It's been the easiest pregnancy most people could wish for. I just don't sleep. After needing a good 8/9 hours a night my whole life, I'm now struggling to get a good 3 hours a night. I'm not exactly tired either just fed up of no sleep. And the restless legs 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Have you spoken to your midwife or doctor? If it’s consistently bad they’ll be able to give you something to help.

Ebonythoughts · 21/12/2023 08:02

And you lovely! Mine is 7th Feb too but my midwife and family all seem pretty sure baby will come earlier, she’s been head down for a few weeks now and Braxton hicks is kicking my butt lol.

Ebonythoughts · 21/12/2023 08:03

I hear you. I haven’t sleep well in weeks and just turned 33 +1 weeks. Leg cramps, and hip pain too. I think it’s our bodies preparing us for the sleepless nights to come 🤷🏿‍♀️

Shrillwaffle · 21/12/2023 08:15

@Ebonythoughts whwt do braxton hicks feel like?

Ebonythoughts · 21/12/2023 10:02

For me it’s been tightening of my bump that feels like pulling and back pain. When it happens I tend to get 1 or 2 every hour in the evenings and they are worse when I haven’t been drinking much water. Now baby is head down it also means some pain down below too 😳

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/12/2023 11:29

@Ebonythoughts thank you for the number of weeks! I'm never sure what I am, but I think my due date is 4th Feb (on my matb1 form) however each scan said something different! I had three scans around 12 -13 weeks.

How are you all keeping track of how many weeks and days you are? Is there an easy calculator?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/12/2023 11:31

My app going on last menstrual period is saying I'm only 32 weeks, however my cycles were seriously messed up after just stopping breastfeeding, and I wasn't tracking, and I didn't test until quite some time after my period as I didn't realise I was pregnant
