@CheeseAndCrackersx disposal knickers that can pop pads in and just chuck when done. Sexy af but then il not have to worry about too much washing etc. and easy enough to change.

maybe I will regret it and I’m first time so genuinely know nothing but read many online recommending them.

Whats pjs/nightwear we packing for labour/after?

im 30 weeks and starting to get really uncomfortable now. But tightness across lower stomach tonight. Little girl is breech currently so taking some pop shots to the lady area 😳😳

When it comes to new knickers for the hospital, are you buying maternity or normal or a mix? That's the only thing left to get for my bag 😀

Primarks fill brief ones!
As big and as high as you can find!
Comfy as 👌🏽

user2489 · 18/12/2023 21:41

@CheeseAndCrackersx I did the same at @AllAboardTootToot and got some disposable ones from Frida Mom (on Amazon). 👍🏼

I got a pack of the always disposable ones - plan to use these in the first few days. Then I got some full briefs from M&S which are HUGE lol so can fit big chunky pads in them :)

CheeseAndCrackersx · 18/12/2023 21:55

Thank you ladies 😀
I've got some of the disposable ones too but was also thinking for the pad side of things 😀

I got the disposable ones from boots and the pads.

And some bed mat things just incase of those waters breaking in the night 😄xx

AllAboardTootToot · 18/12/2023 22:53

Didn’t even think of the water breaking scenario 😳

Ihatewinding · 18/12/2023 23:13

I did a mix disposable and big knickers last time, think that works well. Need to get some bigger knickers though as gaining a lot more and from a higher starting point too.

Maternity wards are pretty warm for the babies so I'm going to wear nighties, but have a light dressing gown for extra coverage for trips to bathroom, etc.

I got a big plasticky sheet for my bed last time as also feared waters going in night, but just ended up with worse sleep as was sweaty and crinkly so ditched it in the end.

Thankfully woke with a gripey belly then felt a pop and sprinted to loo just in time, which was just as well as I had polyhydramnios and felt like went on foreverrrrrrrr haha. Actually thought I was going to poop myself based on the strange gripeyness but thankfully just waters in the toilet (however baby had pooped in them though!)

LavenderSweetPea · 19/12/2023 07:11

For hospital underwear I wasn't sure what would work for me, so I've bought a bunch of options and packed a selection pack type thing with a few of everything. I've got disposable underwear (boots and Frida mom) maternity pads (boots, Frida mom and lilets) and also adult nappies from Always.

We've got our second growth scan this afternoon. Really hoping baby has had a growth spurt since last time.

@Mangotango39 I think those measurements might be a GD thing! I had a huge head and abdomen with my son (near 100th centile) and they said that was fairly typical. He came out at 37 weeks (induced), only 3 kg as early, and the head went into a cone shape so I didn't tear. Was also worried though!

@Gardenfingers23 that sounds quite a normal measurement to me? The same weeks as cm? I was measuring 5 weeks ahead which got a growth scan. I'm measuring only slightly ahead of my weeks this time, and they said no issue

Mangotango39 · 19/12/2023 10:43

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I definitely think it's a GD thing . They said baby looked healthy, textbook even. I really don't want to be induced ahhh . There's little positive stories on induction :(

Ebonythoughts · 19/12/2023 11:18

Anyone getting really bad hip pain at night? I’m really struggling to sleep because my hips hurt and putting pillow between my legs or under my hip isn’t helping. Keep waking up several times a night feeling achy.

Cheetocat · 19/12/2023 11:51

@Ebonythoughts Yeah, my hips are very uncomfortable when I'm in bed, no matter what position I'm in, the pillow used to help but it doesn't do much anymore.

LavenderSweetPea · 19/12/2023 12:05

@Mangotango39 both of my sisters were induced (one via drip, the other via pessary) - one because her waters broke a couple of weeks before baby due but contractions never started, the other got to 41+4 and decided it was time to induce. Both had pretty positive experiences - no instruments, both had minor tears but didn't require stitches and babies were both born within 24h of start of induction.

The only thing is the one who had the drip induction and she said it was getting incredibly painful so she had an epidural which wasn't previously part of the plan but once that was done she said it worked wonders.

For both sisters it was their first so nothing for any of us to compare it to but didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary.

People mostly love to share a horror story but really you'll find plenty of people having induction having very normal birthing experiences. If you do require an induction go into it with an open mind, there's no reason why you cant have a positive birth as well 🩵

I had a positive induction.
I did need an assisted birth but that was due to his cord otherwise all plain sailing.
Abit of a long day but to be expected.
I would happily be induced again this time.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 19/12/2023 13:24

@Mangotango39 I had a positive (drip) induction, no interventions, no tearing. Was out of bed walking my dog the next day.

Both my sisters did also (also GD) and a couple of friends as well. Some tearing, one intervention for one friend (but not on her second birth which was also induced).

I'm a bit sad not to be induced this time around

Ebonythoughts · 19/12/2023 13:27

Have you tried anything else? Sleep is my least favourite activity in the day right now, I’d rather just stay on my feet 😳

MrsW9 · 19/12/2023 13:27

How many breast pads is it worth packing in hospital bag?

AbsolutePlonker · 19/12/2023 13:41

@MrsW9 you probs won't leak much until your milk comes in properly, days 2-4.
Also can really recommend getting reusable bamboo pads - so much more comfortable than the disposable ones.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 19/12/2023 14:00

@MrsW9 Aldo you might not need them at all. I didn't need them once and breastfed for a year. Wouldn't but too many just in case you don't

MrsW9 · 19/12/2023 14:19

@AbsolutePlonker Thank you! I got some reusable ones for home, but thought maybe disposables for hospital would be a good idea. Sounds like maybe I won't need many though!

AbsolutePlonker · 19/12/2023 17:20

@MrsW9 I wouldn't bother - I did buy some disposable ones for nights out etc but omg they just felt so gross and uncomfortable!

I had my 33 week appointment this week (as 34 weeks is Christmas!) and I was really surprised - baby is a perfectly normal size/weight, whereas I feel like he is ENORMOUS. I'm carrying very high which may be why....?
Also discussed my birth plans, and I feel very positive about the whole scenario at the moment.

Callmemummynotmaaa · 19/12/2023 19:18

I had a positive induction experience with my first - went naturally into labour and was induced as waters had been broken without much progression for 48 hours. Found sweeps, further breaking of my waters etc. all manageable and have lovely memories of sitting on the ball playing cards with DH! End d up on the full drip, at high Intensity. Due to an allergy I can have minimal pain relief and sadly the gas and air made me vom…but I found the contractions on it manageable. It was a tiring few days - and due to preexisting stuff for me, induction technically failed (ended up in a red light EMCS scenario as baba got distressed)…but the actual induction part of labour was ok!

This time around I have an ELCS date and it feels strange as I tried vbac last time, so this will be the first time I’ll have a section without being in labour first!

In terms of pants - I can’t stand the disposable ones - but I don’t like them on my period etc. as I like to be able to change frequently. I found high waisted, black, standard large knickers work best for me. With both maternity pads (for the early days) and then night time long length pads (for the remainder) the best. But I massively suspect it’s personal preference and body shape!
I also never got on with disposable breast pads as the plastic-y texture in them irritates my skin.

But I’m dire typing this as I’ve traveled to be with family for Christmas and haven’t as much as a thing purchased nor a bag packed! Planning to do it when home in Jan. But also…fairly confident I’ll discharge myself as early as possible. Last baby I left within12 hours, as I’m far comfier at home.

My only tip would be don’t forget to pack pain relief (paracetamol and ibuprofen) and a very easy to drink from water bottle. It’s much easier to be able to self admin than have to wait for postnatal ward to respond!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 19/12/2023 20:25

32 weeks today, and had my growth scan.
He's still doing amazing and growing as he should be, and currently weighs 4pound2 😀
He was head down but managed to get a pic today cos he was happy to pose.

Only thing mentioned was about being induced at 41 weeks if go over so I'm happy that not currently needing any early intervention 🙂

LavenderSweetPea · 19/12/2023 21:21

My growth scan went well. Baby still only 14 percentile but at least he hasn't slipped further :) Doctors are happy enough for us just to come back for another check in 4 weeks.

32+3 today and weighing in at 3lb 14

Shrillwaffle · 20/12/2023 00:38

I saw you girls talking about inductions and tearing is that a common thing being induced?
